Knew about this place because of a freebie on Yelp for some fries! Obviously I couldn't just go in for fries so I ordered the seared ahi tuna salad with some extra salmon . Ingredients are more and sparse. I almost always get the same thing, Simply Tossed salad. Now to get out anywhere near what it used to be at least in ingredients, I have to ask for "extra", which or course they charge for. Today my small bowl was only half full of lettuce. They have started using those little packaged bacon bits instead of the large and generous chunks of bacon they HAD used for years. This salad costs $20. It's frankly not worth it. Was back again this last Friday. Last time I was here I customized the Crispy Chicken Sandwich to be exactly how I like how it used to be (French roll instead of ciabatta, add bacon, add avo, add jalapeños). It was a delicious sandwich, but with the alterations it was also almost a $20 sandwich. This time I thought I'd try another old favorite - the pork banh mi, extra pickled veg and add jalapeños. To be honest, the bottom of the roll was really soggy (maybe from the pickled veg not being drained)? I was also disappointed in the pickled veg being overly soft instead of crisp and not very pickle-ey. Needed more vinegar for my taste. The good parts - fries were back on point. Totally good restaurant similar to Urban Plates. I don't think it's revolutionary, but the food was good, pricey for the portions though. Staff was very nice and helpful, they checked on us one time after the food was dropped off. I'm sure someone had to clean up the mess my baby made so I made sure to tip at the register, they do bus the table! The tritip was gluten free and it was tasty. I think it was $15 for a 3 oz portion and two sides. The food was good, but it wasn't mind blowing for the price point. There are a number of gluten free options and a menu to list them all. Nice patio area but it can be unavailable if someone had an event booked that night. Plenty of indoor seating too. This comes with a side in which my dad chose potato salad. Although the pork tenderloin was a bit dry, my dad loved this and called it an interesting twist on typical Vietnamese banh mi. The potato salad was a bit bland and I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who doesn't fancy mustard as it has a very strong mustard taste. - Tri Tip Steak entree: Good quality meat as it was super easy to cut, very well seasoned and perfectly moist. Got sides of mac & cheese and bok choy & mushroom veggies. Mac & cheese was good, the bok choy & mushroom side was pretty bland and just tasted like it was simply steamed and thrown on the plate. - Grilled shrimp skewer entree: shrimp was delicious and perfectly seasoned. Got sides of spicy green beans (VERY heavily sesame oil taste which was not our cup of tea) and crispy onion strings (delicious!) - Seared Ahi Tuna entree: juicy, sesame crusted ahi tuna but I was disappointed that it wasn't very well seasoned - in fact, I don't think it was really seasoned at all. It feels like the quality of place has gone down. It was one of my favorite places for lunch meetings but my last experience will hold me back. Two of us went there and ordered the same mediterranean salad. One salad was missing one of the ingredients that other one had. Plus, I would buy new and bigger bowls. These are small bowls and needs some space on top instead of us balancing the food inside. Customer service is bad. We asked for extra napkins and the guy pointed us to "to go" brown napkin dispenser. They used to have proper napkins that were thicker. Simple things can make the experience better, so please address that so we can come back again. read more

However, I am very disappointed with their build your own salad option. The ingredients available are not the best quality in my opinion. The chicken tasted like pre-packaged or old chicken, I know it says fresh natural chicken, but it had an off taste and did not taste fresh (both times I have tried it) - not worth the money to add it to a salad. The black beans were undercooked and tasted as if they were sitting out for days. I added the quinoa as well, but there was barely visible on the salad. Lastly the avocado tasted old or it was just way to over-ripe. Overall I did not feel like the build your own salad justifies the price due to the poor quality of ingredients. I recommend sticking to their set menu items for consistency. [The salad dressing options are very good. However, for being a healthier restaurant option I was shocked they *do not* have any nutritional facts on the dressings - as they are very creamy and on the heavier side. The staff was not very helpful in recommending a healthy dressing option either and honestly were kind of rude when I asked.] Tip - I found a balsamic vinegar by the napkins/condiments if you want a lower calorie option :) *Update - if you are debating on adding salmon to your salad, do it! I didnt know this place was here! I got the portobello mushroom burger that was fantastic! However, the size was small and it was really dry. Nothing exciting and it was pretty expensive. Go to board and brew and you'll get a better value for half the price. The fries were mediocre. This was a large portion, though. So I guess that's a plus? Go to masters in oceanside and try their truffle fries. I was under the impression that this place would have really good sauces, wrong. Sauces were basic. The potatoe salad was also mediocre. Barrio dog has a way better potatoe salad that's cheaper and comes with more. All in all, this place was extremely over priced and portions were not flattering which makes sense if youre familiar with the area. Flavor was mediocre. Good service. My friend picked up takeout for us today so I'm not sure how the service was. I got the twisted blt with gluten free bread and it was really good! I loved how smoky the bacon was and the Basil Mayo was seriously amazing! The bread disintegrated as I handled the sandwich though. This can happen with gf bread. It would be cool if they got a different kind, but better to have gf bread than not to. I wasn't a fan of the coleslaw- not sweet enough. I love this place because it serves anyone who is on a variety of diets. Keto, paleo, whole 30, GF, vegetarian friendly as well as those who just want good food. Fist time here in the 10 years I've been in La Costa and had a great experience. The ambiance was def nice for an "order at the counter and food gets delivered" place. I like the pillows they have in the booths. The servers/cashiers were very friendly and helpful in their suggestions. I ordered the salmon sandwich on ciabatta with the Belgian fries (which I was told were good and yes they are!) The salmon filet itself wasn't anything to write home about but the sandwich in general was really good. Think I would have preferred the crispy chicken, but I'll find out on another day. The ranch I dipped the fries in was probably the best ranch Ive had at a restaurant. It was relatively slow, but a little small talk with the cashier, grab some napkins, sit down, and like 30 secs later food was in front of me.
