Windmill Food Hall is one of my favorite spots when everyone wants something different! I've tried quite a few places here from drinks at the bar to pizza, a lobster roll, spicy noodles, and even pho and everything has been delicious. There's truly a little bit of everything for everyone. We also played a few games while we were there, which made it even more fun. It's the perfect place to grab a bite, hang out with friends or family, and try a variety of different foods all in one location. This indoor mall has a plethora of food vendors that cater to a variety of national and international palette. We've frequented this mall before. Last time was during the winter time and we chose Ramen at District 1 and my partner chose pizza at one of the other for stands. The Ramen was perfectly prepared and steaming hot for the cold rainy day. My partner was satisfied with his pepperoni pizza slice and coffee drink. Darned, we devoured them so quickly that w forgot to take pictures. Recently (in fact it was just four days ago) we decided to return since we were nearby. This time, I had the "salad-jones" and decided on salmon over a bed of greens at La Vida, while my partner decided on sweets and coffee drinks. This place is so cute! I love the way they used the space and decorated the different eating areas! They have such a variety of food here, there really is something for everyone. Not only did they have plenty of inside seating, they also had a nice patio area that allowed for dogs! They also have arcade games spread around the venues as well. Very cool space. read more

Located in what used to be Pea Soup Andersen's building, you can't miss the iconic, larger than life, spinning windmill. Here you will find a number of eateries and full sized bar conjuring up craft cocktails and local beers. Food offerings: Thai food, Mexican food, sushi, burgers, pizza, donuts, pho, & lobster rolls. The variety of foods brings in big crowds which leads to limited seating depending on when you visit. Seating is available indoors and outdoor patio seating is provided. Come patient and don't be shy about communal seating. You never know who you'll come across and chat it up with. The food we tried wasn't the greatest but 4 stars overall because convenience reigns supreme. Windmill Food Hall is a fantastic food location for anyone visiting Carlsbad. It is very close by to the outlet and flower fields. Parking is plentiful. There are many food options to choose from. From tacos, donuts, dim sum, pizza, burgers, there's something here for everyone. Prices are quite affordable. Seating is somewhat limited when crowded but isn't impossible to find. The tables have QR codes where you can order directly from the phone. There's also a water station. Overall, I enjoyed my time here and would recommend others to come visit. read more

What a cool little food hall! I was in the area for work so we stopped by this place a couple of times and it was the perfect spot conveniently located to where we were with lots of options. This place is definitely multi-faceted. There's a patio bar, tons of spots to grab a bite (or two) at, and there's also a venue space. Super cool! Love all the string lights here and especially love how open aired it is. We grabbed some light bites here which were delicious, and we also visited the patio bar. The bartenders there were super nice and personable and served up solid pours. Prices were pretty much what I expected - not cheap but also not ridiculously high. A great spot for folks wanting a variety of tastes- I have yet to find my favorite food here after a few visits but everything I have tried so far has been tasty. They have a lot of fun drinks (nonalcoholic), a bar, lots of parking and a small outdoor space. There is always someone cleaning up and organizing the dining room which is much appreciated. The arcade games were unfortunately all empty, not working or in need of some love when we came this time which was disappointing for my 2.5 year old bc this was the first time she was able to play them. There were only 4 other games that just didn't fit her age, we love the enclosed space for her to roam around a bit so hopefully next time the arcade is stocked up! I came here for dinner after visiting the Flower Fields and ate at El Puerto Street Tacos. The food was so-so. Was really expecting some delicious grilled carne asada and pollo asada. What we ended up getting was parboiled meats that didn't even have a hint of being on the grill and it only had any flavor because I dipped every bite in salsa. Also the atmosphere of the food hall was chaotic and noisy with kids running all over the place. Seating was first come first serve and the place was packed so we had to circle around a couple of times before finding a table that was just vacated. The one positive was the people working the hall and clearing the tables were helpful and friendly. Honestly, do yourself a favor and skip this place and go further south on Paseo Norte Rd to the Green Dragon Tavern just on the other side of Palomar Airport Rd. The food was so much better and the atmosphere of the place was so relaxing and made the entire dining experience so pleasant. read more

I've been here many times since it's opening and I find this spot hit or miss. I recently attended the taste of the windmill event which for me was a miss. Most of the vendors were offering small bites of their usual fare, but the prices were pretty high. There were a few deals to be had though. It's tourist season so it was packed with crying children running around, dogs and strollers. It's loud normally but even more so with a band and said children. It was difficult to move through the areas with tables. When it's not tourist season it's pleasant. You can go with a group and it's easy because each person can select their preferred cuisine. We usually grab our food and a cocktail and meet back at a table either inside or out, depending on the weather. On nice days when it's opened up, you can hear the band from outside and the tables outside are a little bit quieter, which is nice when you want to have a conversation. There has been a lot of turnover of the vendors over the years, but I can always find something i want to try. It's a nice concept but pretty pricy for the portions and unless you know what to get most of the food is just ok. read more

Be careful when leaving your tab open at the bar. I had several unauthorized charges on my card. Small amounts with large tips. I tried to remedy the situation with the general manager. He seemed helpful at first but then he stopped communicating with me. After a week of no help, I ended up disputing the charges with my bank. read more

definitely not the place to go to if you are looking for a relaxing time. came for a dinner after a long day and theres tons of children and adults screaming. it was a busy time so there was a pretty long wait at Secret Sauce Wok & Grill. i got Hong Kong BBQ Pork Buns which were really tasty and the Crispy Garlic Beef. At first the main dish was really good, however after a while it was hurting my mouth after eating it. They don't offer that many vegetables with it either. Great place to stop for families or groups! I found this place on Yelp and my family of 4 ordered from 3 different places. The vibe here is pretty hip, there are a variety of options so everyone can find something to suit his/her tastes/cravings. We were here for a quick dinner and there was live music as we were leaving--wish we could have stayed! Bathrooms are really clean (helpful for me and my kiddos) and the eating areas are well-maintained. I am really impressed. This is a really cool spot and food court with a bar. It has a cool urban loft style design with a few seating areas. A library relaxed feel area, a kids game zone area, open loft with bar area. The seating areas are spacious and don't feel cramped like a mail style. In the past, I have had the Mexican food and the Pho, and both were very good. This time my wife and I tried the Asian food at Secret Sauce. My wife had the shrimp on a stick, and I had the Mongolian Beef. Both were solid meals. Not the best we have had, but still very good. We finished with desert at the Mini Donut Company. The Windmill is a great Carlsbad landmark, and very glad they preserved this with the Food Hall renovation several years back. We have come here for lunch and several times for trivia night. I'd recommend walking a loop around to check out all the menus because they have such a good selection! The front side is pretty bright and airy next to the bar and patio seating, but don't be afraid to head to the back area - there are arcade and video games for the kids, but also a vibey book area. There are areas for you to place your trash and trays when you are done eating.
