I've now eaten at Campus Cafe twice for work lunches, and both visits have been fantastic. With our groups everything was a hit - the Greek and Cobb salads were fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned, the Caliente Club and CA club sandwiches and the sandwich with the salad combo were all absolutely delicious. Everything is super fresh and made-to-order and truly has that homemade quality that's getting harder and harder to find. The real standout, though, is the homemade Asian sesame salad dressing. It is the freaking bomb. Seriously, I could put that stuff on just about anything. The location is a hidden gem tucked away in the faraday area business park in Carlsbad, near McClellan-Palomar Airport. It's one of those places you'd never stumble upon by accident, but once you find it, you'll keep coming back. The outdoor setting is relaxing and makes for a great lunch break away from the office. The spicy pork bulgogi is amazing here! I've been coming here for years and not do they only sell delicious bulgogi, they also have fresh tasty sandwiches and salads. Wow! The best sandwich I've had in a long time! This place is a little hard to find, but once you see the water fountains you're in the right place! The inside is a bit small but there is plenty of outside seats. The sandwich I ordered was SO GOOD! It had tons of fresh ingredients and was huge. It was absolutely delicious. The ham I was surprised was excellent, it tasted as if it was cooked for hours. I loved how many fresh vegetables were on it as well. If you work in the Palomar Airport area you know the deli options are pretty endless, almost every business park has at least one of their own yet I return almost exclusively to Campus Cafe for my lunchtime needs. Years ago I worked around the corner so when I found myself working in these parts again I made my way back. Do yourself a favor and sign up for the daily specials email or at least call and ask what they are before you go in because I basically only order off of them. Favorites: chicken teriyaki, turkey focaccia sandwich, chicken curry and today I tried to Korean spicy chicken stew and it did not disappoint either. The staff is all very friendly and will remember you by name once you come around a couple of times. The business park its in has many shaded tables with a pond that is nice to take a step away from your desk and actually enjoy your lunch, which I should really do more often (shes says eating lunch at her desk ;) ) read more

What a gem. Honestly. We were looking for a deli sandwich spot while in Carlsbad area near the airport. We stopped in and found what seemed like a family run business. The gentleman behind the counter was so sweet, and the back of the house staff were kind and accommodating when I asked for something off menu for my toddler. They generously offered to make him a grilled cheese sandwich. Other than that we ordered two deli sandwiches that were generously sized and delicious. Price wise? Average. Normal. It's a small deli spot among businesses buildings, not too much going on inside, but the courtyard is very nice and tranquil. Tucked away in the middle of a business park in Carlsbad was my latest lunch find, Campus Café. I was looking for a salad to eat in the area and realized I had this place bookmarked on Yelp. It was a little hard to find, but I saw a group of table tents towards the center of the parking area, followed them, and found the place! This place has a lot of great outdoor seating, is surrounded by lush tropical landscaping, and has a lot of shade for hot days. There is a board of Daily Specials right outside the entrance of Campus Café. The day I came they had Chicken Teriyaki, Japanese Curry (vegetarian and non-vegetarian), Turkey Bacon Hummus Wrap and a couple of other items listed that changed up on the daily. It looks like this place is family owned and run. Although Campus Café has a solid sandwich offering, the rotating Daily Specials that reflect food the owners are familiar with cooking, sets this place apart from all the other delis in the area. If you're in the Carlsbad area, you know decent Asian food can be hard to come by. Campus Café is an all in one lunch option. You can come here if you want Asian food, a hearty sandwich, or a quick healthy salad. I was on the fence about getting a salad or getting something from the Daily Specials offering. I poked my head into the pre-made salad fridge and was very excited to find a Soba Salad! It was everything I wanted in one. I didn't know what dressing to get. They luckily have a dressing in mind already for this particular salad and took my salad to hand mix in the perfect dressing for the soba noodles. The salad came out to be a little less than $10 for a huge and delicious portion of food. I really enjoyed my salad. It was topped with a good portion of chicken, soba noodles, red bell pepper, cucumbers, almonds, and lettuce. I would describe the dressing as a light soy sesame dressing. It did get a little salty towards the end, but still very good. If you find the Soba Salad, I would highly recommend it! Totally unrelated to the food at Campus Cafe...but I recently discovered the tasty goodness of Health-Ade Kombucha and they offer a wide selection of it here. read more

Came here for lunch today because of the reviews. It's down the street from my work. I called in an order, asked for their daily specials and was told today's special was a Teriyaki Combo which includes Teriyaki chicken, 4 pieces California Roll, and a side salad. Campus Cafe is not your average suburban office park deli. The place has exceptional food, a really peaceful setting and customer-focused family ownership. On my first visit I had one of the daily specials, the Chicken Curry with chicken (of course!), potatoes, peas and onions. It tasted good but was a bit bland and could have used more seasoning. Still, it was really good. I'd definitely order it again. I tried my buddy's Italian Wedding Soup, which was good but maybe a little salty but tasted good also. My other buddy had the Santa Fe Beef on a really good looking roll. On my most recent visit I ordered the Southwestern Chicken sandwich, which includes a whole green chili (my fave), melted jack cheese and mayo on a toasted onion roll. I could have used some lettuce and tomato but I really enjoyed the sandwich. Yum. And what a beautiful place to eat and relax. The deli is in the back of a really pleasant courtyard with mature landscaping, ample seating and a koi pond. The place feels more like a botanic garden than the middle of an office park. The pleasant whisssshhhhh of the waterfall (seriously, there is a waterfall!) and delicous lunch together offer a short but refreshing vacation from the workday. While waiting for my order, I overheard one of the ladies behind the counter (presumably one of the owners) telling a customer he should really try a sandwich with ham next time because she gets really good ham from a great supplier. Yummers!! I work in the same parking lot where Campus Cafe is located. I tried them out on my first day of work and was not disappointed. I had a turkey sandwich on ciabatta bread which was massive! On my second visit, I had a soba noodle chicken salad and it was so good! On my third visit I had the chicken curry and was very happy with it. The portion was huge for the price that's for sure. Campus Cafe features freshly made delicious home cooking with a variety of entrees that change daily. It is clearly owned and operated as a family business, and they will quickly learn your name, what you like to order, and always provide outstanding, prompt service. What keeps me coming back though is that they have some of the best sandwiches and varied Asian cuisine in all of North County. One day you can find teriyaki, another BBQ pork, yet another bi bim bap, all of them far better than anything offered at competing local restaurants. The same goes for the sandwiches--I haven't found a deli in all of San Diego that compares. The only drawback is that it has become a fairly well known and popular spot these days, so try to visit during non-peak hours, or even call ahead and put your order in for pickup--you can subscribe to an e-mail of the daily menu so you know the days to call ahead to reserve your teriyaki, etc, before they sell out. It's a little hard to find as well: It's situated in The Campus--a corporate office complex--but well worth the search, because you will certainly be making a return trip...I bet you won't be able to eat here just once! read more

What a great lunchtime outing. If you play your cards rights, you can eat some fresh, delicious and reasonably priced chow, wait 20 minutes, and then go skinny dipping in the koi pond. Seriously, what could be a better way to recharge on a busy work day? Service here is efficient and friendly. If you're not feeling up for the typical deli fare then you can get a Korean specialty of the house. I have not tried the Korean specials yet but will definitely be back to do so as I hear they are Asian-amazing. Today, I kept it local and got the Carlsbad sandwich (turkey, avo, tomato, lettuce and mayo on squaw bread). So yummy.
