The chicken bowl has huge chucks of white meat along with steamed veggies and rice. My burrito plate came with a full size burrito and 2 sides. Great price and a healthy option. Chicks was always one of go to spots when I used to work two doors down in the same strip mall years ago. Always got the Caesar salad or a quesadilla. Both excellent but the only issue I have with chicks is their chicken on the salad is really dry. If they fix that it would be perfect. read more

This place has simple, clean, and inexpensive food. It's the kind of meal you wouldn't get tired of. The people are very nice and it feels like a family run operation. More places like this need to exist. Whenever I'm in this area I slip in here for a simple meal that reminds me of the comfort food I had as a kid. They choose music that reminds me of my youth too. Such a great place to eat a solid meal for a VERY reasonable price. read more

The service was lackluster. Being there, I reluctantly ordered a whole chicken for $18 for takeout. The ambiance is homey though! Unfortunately when I tried the chicken the white meat was very dry and the dark meat didn't hold much flavor. Overall, I'm glad I tried but I'm not sure if I will be a regular. read more

$6.99 lunch special is unheard of nowadays. Lots of people were lining up so I joined the line. I originally came for thai food next door. Food was good for the price. Huge portions and the ladies were sweet. However, the chicken was very soft, so soft to the point it felt weird. Clowslaw and corn bread were yummy, the Spanish rice wasn't flavorful enough. I got the Lunch Special which includes 1/4 chicken, 2 sides and cornbread for about $6.50 which is really cost efficient for eating o, as I tend to save about half for dinner (it's more food than it looks like!!) They know exactly what they're doing with the chicken, the vegetables are really yummy and i'd gladly drown in the mashed Potatoes. I've driven by this place a bazillion times- Today was the day I stopped and ordered food after 10+ years? Absolutely delicious and ever so slightly blown away? Food was healthy, full of flavor, and young man taking my order was pleasant and helpful. Did I mention prices are reminiscent of pre-Covid? Granted the place inside brings back fond memories of growing up in the 80's - but, WHO CARES?! I didn't come here expecting Morton's or Campfire. Food was amazing and prices match equally. *ask for sauces they offer, the honey mustard and terryaki was good! Full steam ahead people! Support your local!!!! Used to be much better. New owner has shown an immediate drop in quality from accuracy of the order, freshness of the meat at different times, and use of brown meat in the soup which used to be white. This is still my favorite spot in Encinitas but I have been going here since it opened in 1986 as a kid and I do not like seeing so many cost saving measures. From 1986 until 5 years ago this would have been a 5 star review. Now it is hit and miss. read more

Yumm! I've been missing out! I've lived in the area now since 2021 and never stepped foot in here! I'm housesitting/dog sitting and needed some dinner . Delish! While I am a Negative Nancy....the food here is reeeeeally good. Broth in the soup had just enough. Carrots had the perfect consistency. Mashed potatoes and gravy were dope. The Spanish rice was perfect. And the corn muffins were the kicker. If you want a great home cooked meal the way your grandma used to do it....from scratch, this is your spot. If you want processed, artificial mindless automaton drive thru, go across the street. This place is legit. read more

I also ordered chips and guacamole. The cooler was super sweet so I probably would order something else next time. The chips and guacamole were really good. The guacamole was super fresh and it had sliced jalapeños in it that you could easily pick out if you don't like spice, but I do like the spice and I enjoyed it a lot.. When I left, quite a few people had come in for happy hour and it was a fun, festive atmosphere. You can sit partially outside which is also nice! I'm so happy CPK is in my neighborhood. They quietly opened in November 2025, but I only just found out recently. I have enjoyed their salads a lot in the past (amongst other things) so I look forward to coming back for lunch or happy hour.

This is my favorite lunch spot in Encinitas. I work very close to the restaurant in a hair salon upstairs and I eat lunch here 3-4 times per week. The chicken is consistently great and I usually stick to the salad and vegetables as the side and they are always amazing too . I also find it very affordable to eat the lunch special . I live a healthy paleo lifestyle so I can't eat at a lot of restaurants and that's why I like chics chicken is because it is a very healthy simple menu like a home cooked meal . The staff is always friendly too and have never messed up my order before . And everything is ready to go so no lines or wait times , you just order , pay, and grab your food and go. for starters, chick's has great iced tea - its fresh and not cloudy at all - very important. The chicken here is actually not that amazing. They have some mass appeal however because the place is always busy. I have had everything on their menu and prefer the rice bowl (brown rice) with ginger or terriyaki sauce and their burritos.
