I don't know what to make of this place. It is ridden with contradictions. First, it is open only M-F for lunch and dinner, and thus closed on weekends, when so many people gravitate to eating out. This is so unusual that one wonders how they can sustain their business since Vasco Road is about as far from being a major culinary destination as you can possibly imagine.
Second, though the little food I've had there has been excellent (with an exception I'll mention shortly), it is extraordinarily over-priced. I believe that this restaurant can only manage to stay closed at times of peak demand because it has somehow managed to gain acceptance for its very high prices on weekdays.
Third, their menu is a large paper poster that is physically hard to handle, and it gets very filthy from all the hands that have touched it.
Fourth, the lighting in the place is very harsh, consisting of what seem like blue light LED spot lights.
Fifth, even during the day, the lighting is very unpleasant.
Sixth, the restroom facilities are difficult to find.
Seventh, the shape of the restaurant is long and narrow and the corridor to get to tables is narrow. The tables are tightly packed together.
Eighth, there is a Caucasian 'wait-person' of the male persuasion who has the soft-spoken manner and gentility of a boatswain's mate on shore leave after two six packs of beer.
Ninth, he was so utterly oblivious to how loud his voice was, and whether I needed additional service, while he was talking endlessly to some other patrons who were obviously his acquaintances, that I could not get his attention while I looked into the glare and could barely make out his silhouette. One another occasion I did have another wait person, a young woman, who was very kind.

So... The food? I had some soup several times that was the best I'd ever tasted. It was stunningly good. Another time I had a beef dish that I was told was only mildly spicy which I sent back because it was a 5-alarm fire, and I do like hot dishes. Thinking, after the first bite that maybe I had just gotten a hot patch, I tried another few bites.
It was that way that they managed to sell me 5 iced drinks, which I got only after much delay and oral torture since no one was checking up to see whether I was OK. I sent the beef back and they gave me one without the four habanero chiles the first one had. It was very good but hard to enjoy when my mouth still felt like a smouldering ruin, and when I had consumed so much liquid to put out the fire.
Summary: It's not just a poor rating because of a single unpleasant experience. Highly over-priced food (whose quality appears good but I'm unwilling to go back to sample further); inconsistent or lousy wait-service; inconvenient hours; harsh lighting; unpleasant interior.
Why bother when there are so many other Thai restaurants more conveniently located?
For their seeming disregard of their existing and prospective customers, I would give this place negative 5-stars if I could. read more
