With the glowing reviews I was really looking forward to my dinner at Timothy's. I had never even heard of this place but it was recommended by friends of friends so we chose it for a group dinner on a Friday night. The location is an old Crazy Bowls in a grocery store strip mall on Olive so the renovations were significant to turn it into a fine dining establishment. I feel like the decor was nice but lacked character/personality. The acoustic panels on the ceiling were a nice touch to keep noise down. Some background light music would have maybe made the place feel more welcoming. I am a non-drinker these days so I was very pleased to see some mocktails and non-alcoholic wine on the drinks menu, although I'm always disappointed when a mocktail or a NA wine is priced almost as high as an alcoholic drink. I tried the Dove, a NA Paloma. The rim was coated in what looked like table salt that was not called out on the menu. It was very unpleasant and all I could taste was salt. I downed it as quickly as I could, but that salty, watery glass sat at the side of the table for the entire meal. No one ever came by to pick it up, even when clearing other dishes, silverware, and glasses. Others in my group tried some of the signature cocktails throughout the evening and thought the coupe glasses for martinis were a nice, classy touch but the drinks themselves were small for the price. The menu was very long and somewhat confusing because it contained both the lunch and dinner menus with drinks in the middle and at the end. For my meal, I chose to start with the pimento tots and a caesar salad, and I had the "small plate" mussels as my entree. The tots were ok but needed salt (none on the table) and mostly tasted of (clean) cooking oil. The mustard sauce was really good so that saved the taste. Caesar salad was a good portion, fresh, crisp, and cold, but it had almost nothing on it. I think it has some kind of breadcrumbs on top but they added nothing to the texture or taste. It was basically a bowl of romaine with dressing. Still, a tasty dressing so not a bad salad, it just felt like it needed something. My mussels were a large portion so would have been plenty for a main entree by themselves. The broth flavor was not strong enough. The menu listed sausage but I didn't really find or taste any. The mussels were ok but I hit several "off" ones. I ended up deciding not to finish them because I wasn't really enjoying them. The mussels came with yuca frites (only 4, I guess since it was a small plate and not an entree). They were really nice, very crispy with a nice texture, but they needed salt. Fortunately I had saved the mustard sauce from my pimento tots so I was able to dip the frites into the sauce and add some much needed flavor. The mussels didn't come with bread for dipping but there was some left from the bread service so I tried to enjoy the broth, but since it wasn't quite seasoned enough, I only had a couple of bites. I didn't taste any of the food ordered by others in my party, but they had much better experiences that I did with their food. I heard good things about the salmon, the half chicken, lamb chops, and the tenderloin filet. I didn't notice but was informed that the menu stated that you can't make any substitutions on the plates, which is a bummer at this price point. My husband hates asparagus but would have loved the green beans almondine that were a side for the special that night, so the asparagus on his $57 entree plate were wasted. In honesty, he didn't ask so I don't know if the server would have allowed a swap. I saw a very large number of people at other tables ordering the chicken, which tells me that the pricing on the menu is discouraging people from trying other things. The chicken is the lowest priced entree on the menu, and I think the prices are too high for the area and the overall quality of the restaurant. I know I was personally a little astonished at the prices of most of the menu items. They are VERY proud of their food. Service was a little uneven. At times our server was super conscientious and helpful, at others I felt like he was exasperated and almost trying to ignore us. Empty plates were whipped away quickly, silverware was replaced rather than taken off dirty plates and left at the table (I really love it when restaurants give me clean silverware at a course switch). That darn cocktail glass was soundly ignored until the table was cleared for dessert and when it was left behind at that point, I specifically asked for it to be removed and someone was finally sent over to take it. Ultimately I was not super impressed by Timothy's, even though everything about the restaurant expects you to be impressed. I think it is very unlikely that we will go back even though my husband enjoyed his dinner more than I did. There are just too many better places to go. read more

I dined at Timothy's for the first time and it was beyond my expectation!! The staff and owners made us feel so welcomed and relaxed...the food....EXECELLENT!! We had the salmon deviled eggs, smoked chicken, Timothy' burger, tator tots ( these are not your typical tots) and the best of all was the lamb chops. We went to Timothy's for a birthday dinner. It was our first time. It was good but my expectations were too high from all the goos reviews posted. The presentation of the meals could of been better for the price tags. I wish the atmosphere was nicer and the service was less uptight and unfriendly. I like this restaurant and would go back bottom line. It is relatively affordable for a nice dinner. I will mention that the majority of the staff were not adhering to covid precautions and didn't have masks. Our server did have a mask and I thanked her for wearing one and she did the same, probably one of the few reasons I will leave this restaurant with an intention to return. She gave excellent service, was very attentive. Got the beet salad which was good, it had enough beets. Also the lobster pot pie which was fairly good. We all agreed our mains could have been hotter. The only other thing to keep in mind is it is very loud. They need curtains or foam on the ceiling to absorb some of the sound. I'd still go to the city if I want something amazing but I'm glad to finally have a decent option in the county. read more

Our server wasn't very friendly and the way the communicated with each other and the bussers in front of customers was kind of odd. You could tell they didn't want anyone to stay too long even. Quaint little restaurant where you can go for an elegant dinner. The dinner service is impeccable. We started off with salads. My wife had their house and I had the grilled ceasar. My only criticism of the grilled ceasar was that it was not shocked in cold water after being grilled as you could really taste the char. The dressing was excellent. Anchovies are optional. I had the lamb which was properly cooked and very well seasoned. My wife had a tenderloin steak off the menu and it was very good. The corking fee was reasonable. If you are concerned about COVID-19 especially with no mask mandates, don't worry. All of staff are fully vaccinated. This meant a lot to me to be able to have a lovely dinner and not to worry that I was going to get sick. I applaud the owners in being forward thinking. We will return. Thank you again. read more

Went to Timothy's for a date night and it was so much fun. The food and customer service is amazing. We were seated by one of the co-owners (I only knew this because I recently read the stl magazine article on the resultant) and our waitress was delightful. The Mussels appetizer was our personal favorite. The sauce is delicious and I recommend dipping the bread you get with to dip I. the sauce. The drinks were super yummy and the bread pudding caramel was legit. I took it to go and the other co-owner brought it out and he was very nice as well. It was great to see them so involved in the business and the restaurant experience. I hope you give it a go. I'd love to see this place get lots of business. read more

I must admit I was a bit taken back by the limited menu at first. I settled on the grilled Cesar salad to start with. While waiting, I was pleasantly surprised at the comfortable environment and the welcoming staff. It was a fresh delight to feel at home, not hurried and engaging. When the Salads came ( the Admiral had the beet salad ) we were satisfied with the crisp flavor and unique twist of the grilled flavor. The grilled tomato spotted it off. The Admiral enjoyed the yellow and red beets along with the tangy flavor of Mandarin oranges complementing the salad. For our entrée I had the salmon and she had the lamb chops. Both were unique & flavorful. The fish was surrounded by tastings of cilantro, corn and Beans. I'm not doing this justice. It truly was a treat. The fish was not over cooked and, to my surprise, not drenched in flavoring. The chef obviously know how to allow the salmon to hold its on on the plate. The Admiral enjoyed a wonderful meal of lamb which was broiled just to the point of medium rare. With a smile on her face we had a nice after dinner drink and called it a night. Phenomenal. A robust beverage menu with plenty of NA options to accompany a curated beer and wine list along with craft cocktails. They also have coffee service and espresso. The menu was full of variety but the dishes were also complementary with each other; very well done. They have an excellent number of appetizer, starter, or shared dishes, of which our table of 4 had 2. We recommend the escargot and the cheese with crudités. Salads were also well thought out and constructed and seasonal options abound. Yum! We loved the beet salad and the butternut squash one. Entrees were perfectly sized considering the courses we already ordered. One guest had an off menu scallop dish that he raved about and his wife loved the salmon en croute. Steam frites slapped hard and was a perfectly prepared cut of beef. Shrimp and grits did not disappoint either; I needed more grits for that velvety roux. Just dynamite. Desserts also arrived just at the right time and portion size alone with presentation and taste. Save room for all the courses.
