Well what a pleasant surprise! The Timbers Inn dates to 1958, but was extensively renovated just a few years ago to bring modern updates and amenities into the framework of a vintage motel. In many ways the renovation stays true to the era, so don't expect a completely modern bathroom. What you will get though is a thoroughly refreshed room in an inviting complex. The breakfasts are free and excellent - way better than you would find in the typical chain hotel buffet. They take COVID protocols very seriously, which I appreciated. The staff are super friendly (shout out to Skye at the front desk). The location is within a short walk of many downtown eateries and stores, while also being convenient to the university. And the price is very competitive. I love seeing older motels refreshed like this and managed by independent operators who preserve the building but bring modern sensibilities to the property. I just happen to find this retro motel looking for a stay that takes dogs. Firstly, Bryan was so friendly, welcoming, accommodating and made me feel right at home. The room was clean with a funky old style decor with all the amenities needed. The breakfast was an another surprise with warm and cold choices and was more than offered at other hotels. AMAZING!! This motel is absolutely amazing, so clean the rooms are awesome and the folks that own it are the sweetest! When we checked in the lady at the counter was giving us tips on where to go to see the river, where her favorite burger place was, etc. the rooms are so cozy and clean, they have recently remodeled and it's fantastic! We always stay in big name hotels but this one came up and we wanted to support local on our way through Oregon and it is not disappointing! By the time I needed to book a room for the Eugene portion of my trip, I was over searching websites. So when my very tired family pulled up and saw an old motel after a week of bad luck with travel, I was afraid I had made a very terrible mistake. But then I walked into the lobby. It felt a little like Twin Peaks-ish (in a good way!) with adorbs decor and wine by the glass. And then I started noticing all the details: fresh flowers, mid-century modern accents, faux-rotary phone, an AUTO RECLINER in the room (!), a shower with two heads (one on ceiling!). I hadn't even remembered about breakfast and was so pleasantly surprised in the morning to see an excessive amount of choices (Scrambled eggs AND fried eggs? Syrup and whipped cream for pancakes? 3 kinds of fresh fruit?) Beds are comfortable, room clean, and staff nice. Total gem. read more

I found this motel via Yelp and I'm so glad I did. The staff was phenomenal, especially Frank because he helped clean our car with a shop vac because we had an accident/incident that required one. From check in to any interaction with the front desk staff and owners, they were so welcoming. The rooms were very clean and super cute! We had two rooms with a King each, they were slightly different in terms of furniture but just as adorable. There was a fridge, a microwave and a keurig. The bathrooms were clean and the fixtures looked new and worked well. It's located near several restaurants, we had banh mi sandwiches just a couple blocks away, super delicious. Voodoo Donuts was also a couple blocks away as well. I'd definitely stay here again when visiting Eugene! read more

Loved the vibe. Updated Vintage with an homage to mid century modern motels. Super unique spot that is a throwback that gives ya the real Pacific Northwest experience. Great water pressure and bath products. Bed was very comfortable--- best sleep I had on my road trip. I do feel like I heard some noise from a neighboring room most likely a TV prior to falling asleep... but it did not interrupt my sleep- woke up refreshed. Best breakfast included in the cutest lobby. Concierge was so nice and gave us the recommendation for Mcmenamins on the North Bank. Great restaurant and views. read more

We ended up booking at last minute and I think they gave us the ADA room. Which was fine. But it had a weird layout with the fridge in the back bathroom area. No big deal. Just odd. I wish I could rate this 0 stars. This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. An expensive item was stolen by the manager, and she blamed it on an innocent worker! The manager was absolutely terrible and made up a whole story to avoid a police case. Besides that whole experience which is 0 stars within itself, the walls and neighbors had so much noise. Close to downtown and within walking distance to some bars and restaraunts. Also extremely excited that they have an extra blanket in the room, which a lot of places don't these days. Although downtown Eugene looks like it has fallen prey to the empty storefronts that plague everywhere USA these days, you can tell someone really loves this little property and has taken the time to make it very inviting. We had a late night event in Eugene recently and chose the Timbers for it's great reviews and location. The staff were very friendly, and the room was clean. It also offers a large continental breakfast (excellent unless you're a plant eater - not many choices just fruit) and great coffee. The problems: We were violently awoken at 8am by the loudest construction, digging, backhoes and drilling, worst noise I've ever heard! Directly outside our door. We went to talk to guest services and all they said was "well it could have been 7am!" and that they didn't know about the noise. No offer of a return stay, refund, or discount and we had to drive home exhausted on 3 hours sleep which was quite unsafe. I was told the office was open 24/7 so after our late event I went down and the staff was resting under blankets on the couch. She was very nice and did let me in. I paid $17 for a pint of ice cream, pretzels, goldfish and a candy bar. these were the tiny sizes! She kept suggesting we go to 7-11 but we were exhausted. The worst part! The ice cream was soup - completely melted! When we told guest services the next day, they didn't even offer a refund for something $6 and had to be thrown away. and even worse - the shower was completely cold - no hot water. So we were packed and out in 20 min because of the awful noise, and I will never return to that particular hotel due to their poor handling of an incident that should have warranted at the very least a discount and more courtesy. If you like fancy this place is fine, but if you want quiet and courtesy I'd go elsewhere. read more

The Timbers has been recently remodeled. Our room was especially clean and well appointed. They serve a full breakfast in the morning and it was excellent !! While checking in we were informed of their "strict" noise policy. Sounds great after a long day of hiking Cape Perpetua I was ready to sleep. Cut-to 3am. Apparently the people in the room directly next to ours were filming an episode of the Jerry Springer show. They did not notify us of this upon check-in. They were banging on the walls, fighting and screaming. And although the rooms are decently sized I'm not sure how they fit the full studio audience in there. Evidently Steve was sick that day because there was no referee and the fighting continued until about 4:30 AM. I was told by the front desk the police showed up. Unfortunately due to the combination of a strange environment and the mixed martial arts event next door I was unable to fall back asleep. The hotel was very apologetic and did take care of us. I understand that you're not able to screen every hotel guest and it is not the hotels fault that the people next-door to us couldn't handle their liquor. For the price, this is the best in town. Very old place that has been kept up well. Clean and comfortable with excellent service. It is an old motel but they do a nice job on the free hot breakfast buffet. They even have four beer and kombucha taps for a small lobby bar. Hardwood floors and thin ceilings make for a bit more noise but we enjoyed our stay here far more than the Hilton down the street. read more

We really had a wonderful stay at the Timbers Motel! It was only one night, passing through but we wished that we could have stayed longer! The rooms are perfectly appointed and charming. We were two couples in two different rooms and both rooms had a rustic, unique feel. The whole entire place was spotlessly clean. There are many restaurants and stores nearby for anything you might need. And we cannot stay enough about how incredible the breakfast (often included in the room rate) is! There are hot and cold items and fresh fruit. Timbers Motel is well located just a bit off of I-5 with lots of parking. For a small fee, they take pets as well, which is something we will remember for next time, when we are visiting the area for fun. This was our third renovated motel in three nights, and by far it was our favorite! So glad we saved the best for last. We arrived early (12:30pm) and after an odd greeting (they left us standing there at the window after they took credit card and ID), the staff scrambled to ensure we could go right to our room. The room is beautiful and the renovation (still happening in some rooms) was top notch. Hardwood floors, vaulted ceiling, king sized bed, refrigerator/freezer, tv, ironing board and iron. No breakfast or bar due to COVID, but I suspect it would be excellent if we weren't living in a pandemic world. We will *absolutely* stay here again if we're in Eugene again. Helpful hint. If you wake up hot at 4am at the same time as your downstairs neighbors, the a/c will quickly cool you down AND will also mask the amorous noises from below. read more

If you're looking for a motel with character, a real slice of Americana, The Timbers fits the bill. It's around 60 years old, super affordable ($55 a night), and located right downtown. JFK once stayed here (before he became President) when campaigning in Eugene for the Democratic presidential primary election. Be sure to check out the wooden The Timbers sign in the lobby. The décor seems inspired by a mountain lodge (wood ceiling, wood wall) but unfortunately has too much floral (floral bedspread and curtains). The room had that old motel smell. The old carpet probably trapped in cigarette smoke from years ago. It has two floors and looks like a Motel 6. There are little touches that show that the owners care. They have a pot of flowers growing outside each room. They're renovating the rooms by replacing the carpet with wood floors. Ask for one of the renovated rooms. The bed was firm and comfortable. The toilet paper wasn't too thin. Parking was free and easy. They still have room keys with tags. The free wi-fi was reliable. The room had a big TV with cable channels, microwave, ironing board iron, shower (no tub), toiletries, ice bucket, drinking glasses and soap. The soda machine is by the office, just like in the good old days. It was very quiet at night. The complimentary Continental breakfast consisted of muffins, bagels, juice and coffee. read more

We wouldn't have discovered this gem if it hadn't been for the rave reviews, and they were right on; this hotel is a great value. When we arrived at 10 pm, we gave pause to the greyhound bus station next door, but we were glad we stayed. The room was clean, comfortable, and well appointed, with beautiful hardwood floors, a big flat screen tv, a comfy electric recliner, a small table and chairs, fridge and microwave, nice fluffy pillows and decorative bedding. The new lighting had outlets for bedside cell phone charging. There is an in room coffee pot, but we opted for the fresh coffee and goodies in the lobby for a light breakfast, but unfortunately, only a powder option that is supposedly a substitute for creamer - blech. Fortunately, there is a Starbucks 1 block away. We were concerned, as two women traveling alone, with the flimsy lock on the door, but that big recliner did double duty as a door stop. The property is well maintained, and the abundance of flowers on the grounds were delightful. We would definitely stay again if we are in the area. read more

This place is awesome. Quiet, nice beds. Beautiful lounge with classical, jazz music and silent films from Charlie Chaplin. The breakfast is the best I have had at a hotel in USA in 30 plus years. Real scrambled eggs, generous portions, great breads , croissant, oatmeal and even a pre dinner chip and salsa snack. I hope I do not have another power failure, but if I ever do, I will be back for a few days. Hats off to Joseph & his family, Molly and the night person staff. The room is nice and I love the wood floors and ceilings. Free breakfast is very good. The staff are super friendly. Will certainly stay here again. It looks to be an older motel but it's well kept. Stayed in a downstairs room as my roommate is disabled. Beds were comfy which was unexpected. Shower was awesome. Like standing under my own personal waterfall. Wonderful! BEST motel experience I've had in years. I travel for work and stay in a motel/hotel every weekend around the US and Canada. This family owned motel is adhered to comfort, safety and cleanliness. From the outside, the Timbers Motel is a little unassuming. But, one step into The newly remodeled lobby is a totally different experience: faux (vegan) pelts over cozy couches, local historical references, and even a wet bar with 4 local beers on tap include things that quickly caught my eye. Alex at the check-in counter greeted us in a suit, made us feel Welcome, and enthusiastically shared all of the great amenities the motel had to offer us. After leaving my luggage in my superbly clean, modern, and thoughtfully decorated room, I was back in the lobby to enjoy beer during both evenings of my stay. You can tell the motel puts safety first; you won't find non-guests lingering around the parking lot or near the rooms. During my time in the lobby enjoying a couple of beers, I watched Alex and staff carefully survey the property at all times. By the way, good water pressure, temps and shower head in the bathroom! Stayed on a random stop over because of a van malfunction, but this place was just what we needed. Clean, friendly, overhead shower head in the bath, and very sweet touches to the room made it feel extra homey. My only ding is how loud it was at night. Off a main street and quite a bit of night activity of people yelling and banging outside kept us awake a bit, but no fault of the hotel's exactly, just location. The Rooms are spacious, incredibly clean,well appointed,( large flat screen, Keurig machine) with all the right things, and the attention to the smallest details are obvious. I really, really wanted to love Timbers Inn based on the website, photos, decent reviews and its convenient Eugene location and, ultimately, we did have good stay but not a great stay, hence the 4-star review. We stayed 6 days/5 nights in 3 different rooms. Room 1 was on the backside of the hotel from the office facing an alley. Upon moving the car around to park in front of the room, the door was standing wide open. We cautiously knocked and looked around. Nothing seemed out of place and the door didn't seem like it had been forced open, but this just seemed sketchy so we asked to be moved to a room that faced toward the office. We were told Room 2 was an "interior" room but the only door we could find opened to the backside of the hotel again, and the key wouldn't work. We went back to the office and the very nice front desk clerk went to check on the lock, but she walked to a different door. Turns out the room had a front and back door but the key only worked on the front door. (We hadn't even noticed the front door as it was sort of off by itself at the end of the building.) You could open the back door from inside the room but not the outside. Weird. Room 2 also faced due west and was in the blasting sun all day long, so it was fairly warm in the room. After adjusting the window A/C (no central air here, folks), we unpacked then went to dinner to give the room some time to cool down. Hours later the room was still miserably hot. We finally called maintenance and they came and looked at the A/C; turns out the compressor wasn't coming on and it wasn't blowing cool air at all. So off to Room 3 we went! This one was fine and we were able to finish out our stay without moving again. If we were to visit Eugene again, I would consider staying at Timbers Inn. I thought it seemed rather expensive, but then I checked rates at other area hotels and it was less expensive plus in a convenient location. PROS: They were able to accommodate our arrival/check-in a day earlier than our original reservation; when we did have issues with a room, they were kind and moved us without complaint; the rooms were clean; the property was clean, no trash about; great downtown location within walking distance of Eugene Saturday Market, Broadway Streatery and countless other coffee shops, tap rooms and restaurants; breakfast/coffee/tea (free) served in the mid-century modern lobby, as is beer and wine ($); didn't have to drive to food/drinks since plenty was within walking distance, even the Whole Foods which is just two blocks away. CONS: Old school room keys; deadbolts (if you can call them that) are from the 1950s; no strike plates on the doors for added security; not the quietest motel, especially when the woman who seemed to be the head housekeeper screams at her staff early in the morning; same housekeeper carried stacks of towels around on top of her head (not terribly sanitary IMO); rooms on the backside of the hotel from the office face an alley and have the occasional homeless person hanging around outside the doors; the one day we tried to have breakfast at the hotel they ran out of food; never did figure out the TV remote control :) read more

Awesome little hotel! Newly renovated and very nice! Stayed here for a duck game so the prices were higher but it was worth it. Great location right next to everything in town. This is the first hotel I've been to where I actually wanted to hangout in the lobby. They have a great free breakfast every morning with a nice little sitting area. Big screen tv inside and an awesome little patio with another big screen outside. And they have beer and wine on tap! The rooms are very nice! Beds are comfy, the shower is amazing with the water coming from the ceiling. The staff is very nice and personable. I'd love to stay here again next time I am in Eugene.
