I had been excited to try Tidal, as I love a good little coffee shop, but I was a little disappointed. Maybe I had hyped it up for myself too much. But I found the iced chai to be pretty flavorless and watery, and they didn't have much of a selection of food. I think there were only 2 pastries and 3 or 4 muffins when I went. I'd be willing to try it again, but not as a first choice. read more

Family owned and operated, Tidal Grounds is a beautifully decorated place with divine tasting coffee. Locally roasted. In addition, all but two of their coffee flavors are made IN-HOUSE! I adore the ginger snap. All their baked goods come from a local bakery. Their quiche (especially the Brussels/bacon) is out of this world. I prefer coming here to Starbucks as the coffee is good. Although the staff blasts the music on Saturdays and I find that really agitating after a long week of work and naturally would not bring company here as to speak over the music. Also, will be less likely as choosing this spot as a meeting spot, a place to study, or a place to socialize. But if just grabbing a coffee and leaving you are fine. Plan ahead before coming. It may be best just to come and grab a coffee then leave or sit outside when the weather is warmer. read more

Absolutely love it here!! The atmosphere is so welcoming and relaxed. The staff was very friendly and attentive. While I usually prefer my coffee black, I had heard that they make their syrups in-house so I decided to try the honey lavender latte. It was incredible! It was soft and not overwhelmingly sweet. It's a great place to hang out with friends, or sit and work. I will be recommending Tidal Grounds to everyone I know! read more

There's a reason this shop is ranked number 1 in Mount Pleasant, it is because Tidal Grounds kicks butt! It is a little pricy but worth it to me as the whole environment consists of warm colors and comfortable furniture, I used to go every single morning during the school year just to calm me down a bit before having to go to class. I recommend getting the Matcha Latte, the Chai Latte, or the Honey Lavender Latte to start, don't come in expecting a fruity Starbucks drink full of sugar, their coffee actually tastes like coffee, very proud to have Tidal Grounds located so conveniently within Mount Pleasant! A superb coffee bar. I visited Tidal Grounds while on business in the area, and it turned out to be the highlight of my trip. The building itself was clean, tasteful, and comfortable, with soulful decor and plenty of seating (including a sunny outdoor patio, and some wonderfully comfy leather loungers that made me feel right at home). The staff, too, were friendly and professional, and my order came out quickly and correctly. From there, I proceeded to have a nice, long, laid-back lunch, kept company by a good book and lovely music and my fellow patrons - bliss! It was a truly memorable experience for me, one which I had to go back and repeat before leaving town :D Much thanks to everyone at Tidal Grounds, for enabling my treasured little outing. I love the hours. They open early and they stay open until around 10. The latte breve is exceptional. Locally roasted beans make it even better. They have gluten free cookies and a granola bar. The decor is very comfortable and if I had to do some work or read this is a great location to do it. read more

Loved this coffee shop! The decor was great. Peaceful environment, clean restrooms. Plenty of tables/seating inside with a few outdoor tables too. The honey lavender iced latte was one of the best espresso drinks I have ever had (if not THE best)! Next time I will just order it a little less sweet (preference). I was a bit hesitant about the location being attached to other shops and restaurants but didn't think much of it once inside. As a coffee lover I had to try out this new place and it didn't disappoint. I had the flash chilled iced coffee which was very smooth and did not really need any additions although I added a touch of almond milk. There is a small selection of pastries which i will gladly try next time and was happy that they offered both soy and almond milk as dairy free options. Plenty of seating with outlets at nearly every table, wi-fi, cute modern-rustic decor, delightful artsy music in the background. The best part? They're open late! At least 9:30 (except sunday, I believe). The only bummer is the food is limited - a small counter tray with baked goods. But there are several food options right in the shopping center if you really need to eat. read more

Fantastic new place thats close to home! Inside is very welcoming and the staff are the friendliest in town! The coffee is amazing too, definetley as good or better than other coffee in town. The atmosphere inside is very unique and makes the entire experience that much better. It's very quaint and homey feeling. My sacred place! I love Tidal Grounds! I go almost everyday! They have a handful of very friendly employees who go out of their way to befriend you as well as a delectable selection of teas, coffees, and baked goods! If you need a recommendation I usually get the chai latte (when I really need caffeine and want something creamy) or the iced honey lavender (if I'm in the mood for a light drink), but if I am consistent with one thing it is the coffee cake, it is a huge piece for $3.50 and it is well worth it. They are also implementing live shows, went to one the other day and they played the lumineers, as if the place couldn't get any more hipster! read more

First the pros: this place has a great ambience and makes for a great study spot. The staff is nice, and I like how they have a microwave so you can reheat your beverage or heat your treat. I also appreciate how they support local bakeries, by bringing in their products.This place has a lot of potential, but now for the cons: 75 cents for almond/soy milk! C'mom...I think we are at the point where non-dairy milks are mainstream enough where they aren't THAT much more expensive than cow's milk. I could understand a 25 cent upcharge, but 75 cents seems like highway robbery. I would come back, but either get something I don't need any milk in, like a tea, or bring my own non-dairy milk. That alone would make bring it to 4 stars in my book. Also, it would be awesome if they provided some vegan treats, in addition to the delicious looking gluten free treats they already have. That would bring it to five stars, and lastly, the chai latte I got was pretty bland. The coffee has a lot of positive reviews though, so will try that another time, when I'm not going in the evening. read more
