*if you don't read the rest of this review, please note this: go here & get coffee. It's delicious!* My first experience here was about an hour before they closed on a Saturday afternoon. We were the only customers at the time, which I appreciated because it gave us time to review the menu & chat with the gentleman behind the counter without worrying about feeling rushed, etc. The spot is cute, with plenty of parking, seating inside and out, and it gives off a nice, cozy vintage vibe. He gave us time to look at the signature drinks, offered information, let us ask questions, etc. He was very nice! I landed on the Biscoff Bliss and as a fun tidbit - they offer Small, Medium, and Large, but they also have a "bucket" size - which we found intriguing & of course went for the bucket! It's essentially one of those "to-go" soup containers and they make a hole in the lid to fit a large boba tea sized straw. It also had like 5 shots of espresso in it and even at 3pm, I'm down for! That was literally the best coffee I have tried in a long time. It was delicious and there was so much of it that I got to enjoy it for the rest of the afternoon! As a side note, the 2nd time I went, I ordered the same thing & another barista made it. It was good, but not as good as the first one I had. The prices are great and I love supporting a small business over a chain. So you should definitely pay a visit to The Bean Counter! read more

Wonderful coffee shop experience. Tucked off the main road this hidden gem is my favorite coffee shop in recent memory. The baristas were so nice and knowledgeable. Make sure you don't skip out on the pastries, I got a cinnamon chip muffin with my caramel latte and loved this spot, definitely recommend!!! read more

Cute! Sells a lot of interesting coffee flavoring. I got the Flower girl Latte which was flavored with blackberry and Lavender. My friend got the Churro cold brew. Both were great tasting. I also tried the strawberry muffin, I would recommend trying one. The baristas were extremely friendly. There is ample parking and they also sell bottle of wine read more

We LOVE the bean counter. Can't say enough good things about the staff and service-- this is a relaxed neighborhood joint where the owner is often behind the bar and there's always a local pup ready to greet you when you walk in. And the coffee is good-- they have drip, espresso, alt milks, and lot's of specialty inventions like the 'Pluff Mud' matcha. The iced matcha is so yummy and also they don't burn the almond milk in cappuccinos, which I know is tricky. The decor is definitely funky. It's a small cinderblock building in a sort of industrial area near the downtown Hanahan. There are vintage booths and bar seating up at the front, and they showcase local artwork. Also a very cute and updated meeting room or bar/wine tasting area in the back? Maybe they have future plans for that space. Also parking is plentiful and super easy. read more

If you are an animal lover who also happens to love coffee and vibes... this place is for you. The staff have my drinks memorized and always greet me with such a warm smile. They host a ton of events and even have a dedicated area for small businesses to advertise and sell their products. It is extremely well organized and clean. The decor is fine, it feels more cramped than cozy. The black drip coffee is the worst I have ever had in my life, worse than any gas station, worse than any other coffee shop, worse than any hotel coffee. The coffee tasted like burnt plastic and black pepper. The service was not great and the staff were weird. They spilled our cappuccino and didn't bring any napkins, nor did they have any napkins out for customers. Would not recommend. read more

Everything I have had here has been A+. The drinks taste so good, the staff is wonderful and so funny and the space is perfect. I met with my Girl Scout co-leader here when we had planning to take care of and it was a nice experience. Nice little local coffee shop! There's some fun decor inside, and lots of seating for those who want to get some work done, and a few tables outside as well. I had a toffee latte and a cinnamon roll. Cinnamon roll was fine, a bit sweet for my tastes, but that's just my personal preference. The coffee was spot on, lots of creamy foam, and a good flavor without being too sweet. Coffee itself was smooth and mild. The service was fast and friendly. They also serve wine and beer, which may be a draw for some. There's also a few soaps and other locally made items as well for sale. Would definitely stop in if in the area again. Great coffee shop! Everything you could want they can make. Even some croissants and a few booths to sit in. Paintings from local artists. Outdoor area with parking and seating. This was a great find for seriously good coffee in a place where good coffee shops are few and far between. Close enough to veer off the freeway enroute to or from the Charleston airport. Don't get discouraged if you miss the turn off the main road (street sign hard to find), it's just a half block off the main drag. The owner and top barista, Gable. Is friendly, engaging and most importantly knows his coffee! Had probably the best cup of coffee since we arrived in Charleston five days ago. We added a delicious cheddar bacon croissant and left happy. He has plenty of space to sit and work or relax and read. A real gem! read more

This place is amazing, coffee is phenomenal, I personally love the caramel iced latte with oat, the vibes are great and the service is just impeccable! I'm so happy we have a café nearby! And they're selling frosé now too which I have yet to try but I'm excited to keep coming back. We need more local businesses here in Hanahan, and I'm grateful The Bean Counter is one of them! read more

Got my coffee and sat down. A group of regular blue collar looking guys left the store and I heard the staff immediately start talking about how they are familiar with that group but know they "look like ICE" and exchanged stories about kicking out others who look like ICE and generally just trashing law enforcement. Guess what guys, I'M ICE. You were nice to me. You made me coffee so I was nice and alert to go catch illegals. HAHAHAA! What an astounding attitude to hate people enforcing federal laws the same exact way Obama did. Do any of you speak out for the victims of illegal aliens? The smell was so awful and overpowering I had to toss the food and leave early! Coffee was ok but it smells so badly, like it used to be a dog boarders, it took away from everything. Love dogs and the puppy there too but this was like dog urine and wet dog smell it made the whole experience gross. read more

The line to order goes by pretty fast, and the wait to get your order wasn't long either. All the baristas were really nice and created a great atmosphere. This was my first time having their quiche, and it was great! The store itself is great, plenty of seating inside and out, and there are bathrooms. I also thought it was really cute that local artwork was up for sale! Also, there is plenty of parking nearby.

The baked goods are provided by a local baker; my raspberry lemon poppyseed muffin was terrific. So two marks for the quality of the coffee and baked goods, and friendly service. Summit Coffee scores a three out of three for their interior space. (They do have outdoor seating; I'll be back in cooler weather for that.) With tall ceilings and wide windows, SC is bright and airy, and their decor is understated elegant: nice touches here and there that reinforces the care gone into creating a relaxing space.

What follows is the marching orders to all other places doing the same thing. Give me a McDonalds with from the 80s with an exterior that dared to be unique, not part of the 1984 (read the book) agenda. This brings me to Summit coffee; I absolutely hate the exterior. Devoid of life, soul and any unique presence. However, I'm not really here to write about a drab exterior but coffee! Let's go inside, shall we? Summit coffee establishment is located is on the outskirts of Nexton proper, easily accessible by foot and with a sterile atmosphere. One oddity I noticed is the place doesn't smell of coffee, which I found interesting. Sadly the inside is as lifeless as outside. It looks like a they paid a cleaner to remove all vestiges of life while only leaving a spec here or there to meet a quote. Ok, enough with aesthetics as I've complained enough, The staff is quick to help out and offer good suggestions when they're asked. Being a former comedian, I tried to whip up some jokes to compensate for my utter boredom, the ladies were nice enough to laugh. Needless to say, the women here had a heart. They made good suggestions but I was curious why their pastry display only had like a handful of items, did they make them or get them from the grocery store? I don't know but I was only here for coffee. I did like some of the creativity - a banana creampie latte - sounds like something.... Nevermind but all props for creativity. Birthday cake latte didn't sound good for the waistline but another attempt at creativity - I love it! But I opted to go for my own flavor. A lack of options for addins, I mean literally no hazelnut, almond etc. Well, I did the best I could - Latte with 2 shots caramel and 1 vanilla. I can honestly say it was "mid" at best. The roast didn't resonate while the lack of options made it feel so generic like I couldn't play the part of an evil scientist mixing a crazy concoction. But it beats McDonalds. Oh, they do have "the world's best granola" which I made several jokes about, even encouraging other customers by saying "if you were in France and ordered granola, they would talk about Summit's granola, after all it's the world's best!" Yes, I was being the overfriendly annoying customer, b/c I was bored. At least there were some laughs. Sadly, there's nothing about Summit that stands out. I hate saying that for local businesses but I want to be authentic. Stop by if .... Well, I'm not sure why so just stop by, I guess.

Because they didn't have decaf, I went ahead and ordered a regular coffee, and I have to say, it was very good. We weren't quite sure what we wanted, and the girl helping us was incredibly friendly, patient, and helpful. She really took her time with us, which I appreciated. I asked for a s'mores-inspired drink since that's my favorite flavor profile, and it did not disappoint. My husband ordered a maple bourbon latte with almond milk, and he loved his as well. We didn't stay this visit, but we did ask about seating and confirmed that they are pet-friendly on their patio. It's a smaller patio, but I always love when a place offers a space to hang out that's also welcoming to pets. Overall, great coffee, great service, and a welcoming vibe--definitely worth checking out.

Some outdoor seating for a bit of peace, a countertop if you want to be in the magic being made, and tables to get some work done or catch up with friends and colleagues. I've heard business meeting, meetups, dates, podcasts and book club discussions. Love the place! The use of coffee bags as decorations and other rustic decor makes me happy. The icing to update the review is my little guy spilled his water, one of the staff made him a little crab craft to match his shirt just to cheer him up. That's just kindness.

I had a free unexpected morning to myself and googled "coffee shops near me" as I didn't want to go to the normal places I frequent. This place came up and I was delighted! There's a sign outside and on the website saying that they open at 8, and pastries/breads are available at 9- and they generally sell out by 11/1130. I can understand why. The bagel was DELICIOUS! Light, fluffy, airy. I didn't even know bagels could be that phenomenal. I also opted for the chili oil cream cheese and it was such an unexpected treat. Spicy and exceptionally delicious. I also bought the ube croissant to take home to my son. He ended up licking all of the ube from the center but the bite I snuck made me wanting more. The coconut cloud drink I had was so freaking good and refreshing on a warm day. Please note that they have original drinks (we some basics) so keep an open mind. The front of the house staff were so friendly and helpful. Love that they refer to everyone as "ms and Mr). The owner was busy packaging treats for everyone and he was so kind. Really awesome to see how hard everyone was working inside. They have some seating inside and outside while you wait, or to enjoy after you receive your order. Wonderful little place. The first time we went was early afternoon on a weekday, and they were already sold out of all baked goods. Since we were looking for a snack and a place to sit and relax, we didn't stay. We also noted that the seating inside is rather limited, and it was already occupied. Hubby went there again this morning, to give it a second chance, (Saturday at 8:45) and was told they don't put the baked goods out until 9 AM. He then asked for a mocha but apparently they don't serve normal coffee drinks. Instead, they have a menu of house created specialty drinks. He left. As much as I wanted to love this place, I'm just not looking for expensive high-end coffees on the regular. And, it doesn't make sense to me that on a Saturday morning, when people want to pick up coffee and a breakfast snack on their way to run errands, it wouldn't be available. So if you're going to visit, you'll run the risk of it either being too crowded to sit inside and relax, arriving too early for breakfast, or arriving too late and having everything sold out. It's a little bit too hit and miss for me. Giving them two stars because it's a brand new space and the employees are friendly.
