So two marks for the quality of the coffee and baked goods, and friendly service. Summit Coffee scores a three out of three for their interior space. I'll start this off and I hate doing this but I hate Nexton, it's such a fake and ingenious effort to be a trendy, albeit 20 years late to the party, town; one that is pretending to be upscale yet being downscale but charging upscale prices when not needed. What follows is the marching orders to all other places doing the same thing. Give me a McDonalds with from the 80s with an exterior that dared to be unique, not part of the 1984 (read the book) agenda. This brings me to Summit coffee; I absolutely hate the exterior. Devoid of life, soul and any unique presence. However, I'm not really here to write about a drab exterior but coffee! Let's go inside, shall we? Summit coffee establishment is located is on the outskirts of Nexton proper, easily accessible by foot and with a sterile atmosphere. One oddity I noticed is the place doesn't smell of coffee, which I found interesting. Sadly the inside is as lifeless as outside. It looks like a they paid a cleaner to remove all vestiges of life while only leaving a spec here or there to meet a quote. Ok, enough with aesthetics as I've complained enough, The staff is quick to help out and offer good suggestions when they're asked. Being a former comedian, I tried to whip up some jokes to compensate for my utter boredom, the ladies were nice enough to laugh. Needless to say, the women here had a heart. They made good suggestions but I was curious why their pastry display only had like a handful of items, did they make them or get them from the grocery store? I don't know but I was only here for coffee. I did like some of the creativity - a banana creampie latte - sounds like something.... Nevermind but all props for creativity. Birthday cake latte didn't sound good for the waistline but another attempt at creativity - I love it! But I opted to go for my own flavor. A lack of options for addins, I mean literally no hazelnut, almond etc. Well, I did the best I could - Latte with 2 shots caramel and 1 vanilla. I can honestly say it was "mid" at best. The roast didn't resonate while the lack of options made it feel so generic like I couldn't play the part of an evil scientist mixing a crazy concoction. But it beats McDonalds. Oh, they do have "the world's best granola" which I made several jokes about, even encouraging other customers by saying "if you were in France and ordered granola, they would talk about Summit's granola, after all it's the world's best!" Yes, I was being the overfriendly annoying customer, b/c I was bored. At least there were some laughs. Sadly, there's nothing about Summit that stands out. Great spot for both matcha and coffee. The baristas were super friendly and welcoming. While we were paying, one of the baristas noticed my husband's military ID and kindly applied a discount. It was completely unexpected, and we really appreciated the gesture. The matcha was excellent and ended up being one of my favorites from our foodie week in Charleston. It was smooth, not bitter at all, and perfectly sweetened. So many places either make matcha too grassy or overload it with sweetener, but this one was really well balanced. Stopped by Summit Coffee and had a really nice experience overall. The coffee was pretty good, and the staff was very helpful and patient while I decided what to order -- which is always appreciated. We ordered two drinks: * a gingerbread latte * a salted caramel apple latte Both were flavorful and enjoyable, especially for seasonal drinks. Total came out to about $15.22 with tax, which felt reasonable for two specialty lattes. The café itself is bright, modern, and welcoming, with plenty of seating for hanging out or getting some work done. Staff was friendly throughout our visit and even offered Luna a pup cup -- we don't do pup cups since they're not great for dogs' tummies, but the gesture was thoughtful and appreciated. Coffee is great and they change their specials pretty regularly. Nice new coffee shop in Nexton. The staff were super nice! Plenty of indoor seating and outdoor seating, which will be better once the construction next door is over. The actual coffee drinks were so so. It was nice that we could have them in real coffee mugs, but it wasn't one of the best. Lacked a bit of flavor. The chocolate chip cookie was fantastic, though. It had a bit of sea salt on it which enhanced the flavor. We will definitely try it again since it's in our area. read more

Summit coffee just opened and it is so cute. The menu is simple but there are interesting seasonal options. I got the sea salt maple syrup chai latte with a shot of espresso. The chai is nicely spicy and not over sweet and the espresso doesn't overpower the chai. The waitress was very helpful and ready to make something else if I didn't like what I tried but it was so good there was no need. The inside and outside are both very cute and comfy. There are spaces for larger groups (maybe up to 8-10) and cozy spots for 1 or 2. I look forward to coming back. read more

The shop has a copious amount of seating, free WiFi, and nice staff. Since I'd already consumed my coffee for the day, I decided to try the matcha with oat milk. The matcha was fantastic. Came here a few weeks ago and got the nitro cold brew ... It was intense for my palate! But if you like strong, deep coffee it'll be right up your alley. The staff at summit are very kind. The drinks are usually very good but on the off chance your drink isn't sweet enough just ask for it to be sweeter! It's fun to sit and drink coffee while your kids admire the construction outside for the time being. Story times get very crowded so just plan accordingly and arrive early. read more

So glad to see my favorite coffee shop from NC opening up in SC! I know they've had one already opened in Mt. Pleasant but that is too far so it was great to see them opening up in the Nexton Summerville area. Just as I remembered from the locations I've visited in Asheville and Charlotte the coffee and atmosphere is great! It's also a major plus that they DO NOT charge extra to substitute for oat milk. At least they didn't the opening day I was there. Other places around the area charge up to $2.00 to substitute. You will pass Starbucks before getting to Summit but trust me skip it and come here instead for better coffee and a much better atmosphere. read more

On Thursday, May 15, 2025,at approximately 1600 hours I, Dante G., responded to Summit Coffee located at 342 Brighton Park Boulevard, which is in the town of Summerville, county of Berkeley, and state of South Carolina, in reference to a heat related emergency. Upon arrival, I entered through the outward opening ingredients door located on the B-side of the business. I approached the centrally located pointbof sale and was cheerfully greeted by the barista. I was met by the barista, clad in a grey sweatshirt and denim shorts, who cheerfully greeted me. By first name. This is my third visit and she remembered my name. She definitley maxed out the customer service points. I selected a Humankind AJ and ordered a large, iced, honey lavender latte. I love that Humankind calls apple juice AJ. I think it is an underused contraction. The honey lavender latte was made with whole milk and homemade syrup. The bar barista, clad in a purple shirt and slacks, quickly made my order and served it in a tall class with a tapered mouth. As visually appealing as the simple latte was, made with crushed ice, it tasted much better. I sat in the quiet cafe and consumed the drink, listening to the dance music coming from the kitchen. The heat related emergency was sufficiently diverted. I strongly suggest repeat visits, even if it isn't hot. No photographs taken. End of report. read more

I love trying local coffee shops as I travel and Summit Coffee didn't disappoint. I stopped in for some coffee and a bagel and cheddar bacon bagel was delicious and the coffee was good. The service was amazing! This was some of the friendliest service that I have received in a really long time. They play some great music that creates a nice vibe. The scones were all yum - feta and herb, berry lemonade, and chocolate with sprinkles. Clean bathrooms. Plenty of space to spread out. Kid-friendly (they have a tiny barista play area!!) but quiet enough to hunker down and work for a few hours. Outdoor seating area is ample. Plenty of parking.
