I really wanted to like Cooper River, but unfortunately it just wasn't for me. We ordered an iced half-sweet vanilla latte and an iced half-sweet Purple Haze latte, and after just two sips, we ended up tossing them. What threw me off first was the preparation. I watched them pull espresso shots, leave them sitting, then head to the back and suddenly my drinks appeared. When I asked about it, I was told the espresso was "pre-pulled and chilled." Meanwhile, the shots I originally saw pulled sat untouched at the machine for about two minutes (100% expired at that point). It was a confusing process and honestly, pre-pulled espresso just doesn't taste fresh. As for the drinks themselves, they were overly sweet. The vanilla latte had an odd banana flavor, and the Purple Haze tasted chemical (ironically). Overall, I won't be back for drinks. I've heard great things about their beans, so it's a shame I didn't get to experience a fresh espresso shot read more

So that mustve just been what the treat of the day was bc when I went in they had two pieces of fruit and two muffins in a small glass pastry holder. No large counter of other pastries. Luckily my son was happy with a banana and OJ while I had a delicious coconut mocha latte (very almond joy vibes). But if you're looking for a snack and a drink, this isn't your place. I really wanted to like Cooper River, especially since they are local and roast their own beans here but my experience fell short. The service was quick and friendly and the shop was very chill and laid back but the coffee was not good. The first sip I took was full of grounds as shown in a picture I took of the bottom of my cup. I take coffee pretty seriously and was a barista for 8 years. For $6 I would rather go somewhere else that pays attention to detail. read more

It's located in a tiny strip mall on Ben Sawyer across from the Harris Teeter. A family run coffee roaster in business for nine years. How have I missed it?! The coffee is so so good. As for the vibe here, it's so nice & inviting with several different types of coffee beans from around the globe available to be roasted & to take home. The owner & his daughter were skillfully managing the shop yesterday. They informed me that this family run coffee roaster has been open 9 years!!! Good on them & no wonder... the coffee, staff & ambience in here could not be more hip & inviting. It's small but conducive to working in your laptop or meeting with friends over coffees, smoothies with some sweet treats. The matcha was delicious and smooth, I got mine sweetened but I'd actually recommend unsweetened, the quality was good enough to get it without simple syrup or honey. I would life to try their coffee as well. I am always looking for great coffee places. After a recent July 4th 5K race in Mt. Pleasant, two friends introduced me to Cooper River Coffee Roasters- and I'm glad they did. I've often run and driven by this coffee shop. which is on the way to Sullivan's Island. Stop here on your way to Sullivan's- you won't even have to turn against traffic to get to the island! Since it was post-run and I was hot, I ordered a caramel frappucino as a treat. When I go to coffee shops, I like to order treat drinks and not something I'd make at home myself. The frappucino was blended really well and smooth, with caramel taste throughout. I've been back and tried the cold brew, and it was delicious as well. Prices are very reasonable, and there's a board of specials if you want a flavored drink. Along with coffee drinks, you can also get smoothies, hot chocolate, pastries, or coffee beans to brew at home. The atmosphere is cozy and away from the hustle and bustle of Coleman Blvd. I look forward to trying some hot drinks when the weather cools down! read more

I don't come here as often as other spots in the area likely because they close at 3pm, but it's a great find. An unassuming spot in a shopping plaza off Ben Sawyer. The offerings are pretty standards as far as espresso drinks go. You won't find a half-caf-tripple-mocha-delight here and I mean that in a good way. They're roasting their own beans here so you're getting a great product and supporting a local business too... win win! I'd like to see them make their own coffee flavors as I find them to be less sweet and less artificial tasting, but that's a minor detail. read more

The man at the counter was super nice, the Southern Charm blended drink was DELICIOUS, their prices were by far the cheapest I've seen yet, and they have the BEST playlist;) They also have some shweet stickers for only a dollar! Very cozy little coffee shop tucked in the plaza - nothing huge or flashy but I was pleasantly surprised by the coffee. I'm no expert but I thoroughly enjoyed the regular coffee, less so the lavender latte but that was more so my own fault for choosing a flavor I didn't love and less so the quality of the drink. The espresso was nice and strong and I'll come back and try a hazelnut or almond latte next time. I'm a cold brew fan all the way and I can safely say theirs is one of the best in the Charleston/Mount Pleasant area. Their specialty drinks as well are so clever and look delicious. Bonus, being able to see the brewing machine in the back and the rustic environment is so unique and cool. They also have some food options like bagels and muffins for a snack as well. I get some of their Espresso roast at the start of each of my extended visits to Mount Pleasant. It has some very satisfying, very rich flavors that come through in the cup. Dark roast, yes, but they manage to stop the roasting before the beans develop that smoky/sooty/burnt-toast taste that Starbucks and some other roasters seem to aim for. This is especially nice if you enjoy drinking coffee straight, rather than drowning it with milk, sugar, spices, etc. read more

Lots of options, and friendly staff make it a must-visit even though it's in a simple plaza. You'd never know it was there if it wasn't for our lovely Yelp and Google Map technology. I wish this place was better, Mt Pleasant really needs somewhere off Coleman that does good coffee. Twice now I've been in and latte / Cappuccino was excessively hot and coffee burnt and bitter.
