Tidal Grounds is such a gem in Mt. Pleasant! Tried the honey lavender latte and the mocha latte--both were delicious, smooth, and not overly sweet. The honey lavender had a light floral touch while the mocha was rich and balanced. The shop itself has great seating inside, making it a perfect quiet spot to get some work done or catch up with a friend without the usual coffee shop bustle. What's better than a piping hot cup of fresh Joe, or... for those who defy the norm, iced coffee? Almost nothing I tell you! Thus, this is where I bring up Tidal Grounds Coffee located in a safe and somewhat easy to access area in Mt P. It's weird b/c I moved from Mt Pleasant in 2000 and in Nov 2024 took my Xgirlfriend around to see the area. I could barely remember where I was as it's changed and has been built up so much. Back to the point walking into the shop it's like a hippie's dream come true with wood accents everywhere and iron complimenting the façade. Momentous of distant lands adorn the walls while there's plenty of convivences like couches and cubbies for that "sophisticated Gen Xer writing the great American novel." As for the staff they're great and receptive of what you want to drink as well as giving suggestions. The tall and charming lady owner I admired as we had a great conversation about coffee. Specifically, if she's tried Kopi Luwak (google it) and if she liked it. Personally, I would never but as a coffee aficionado that's in her job description. The "normal" barista was a very nice 30 something man bun fellow, a guy who was genuinely nice and after hearing his specials, I threw him my curve ball. For my X's coffee she got a Coconut Mocha. It had nice hints of coconut with a nice back drop of chocolate to round out the flavors. The coffee was a nice roast really extenuating the deep complexity of the beans they use. An utter hit but if they were to throw toasted coconut on top, I think it would be game over! As for me, I had a sweet tooth so my curve ball to the young man was something he hadn't considered. A white mocha late with caramel, vanilla and a touch of honey. If they had more flavors, I would have been a kid in a toystore alas the selections are somewhat limited, yet still good. In summary the only item I can suggest is grinding their own coffee would take the experience to the next level. The oils and freshness would shine and be one of the best cups of coffee around. Aside from that I didn't sample their "edibles" however they looked wonderful. To finish, the employees are great people, the ambiance is fun and the coffee is great. Stop by if you want something good to pick yourself up or rub elbows with a future leader of America. read more

A good local coffee shop. I got the tidal wave after seeing pics of it online. I tried asking the barista what's in it but he told me it's kind of a secret, but that it's sweet and salty. I thought this was cool so I ordered it. I'm not sure the flavor but it had a milky taste. Wasn't the best drink I ever had but I liked the element of surprise. My friend got a galaxy drink that is a black color due to the ingredients in it. It's cool looking. The decor in here is also fabulous. Good place to read or do work if you're local. read more

95 percent of the staff is super nice, helpful, and sweet. There's just one, the blonde curly haired lady who is a bit on the heavy side that is rude and doesn't ever acknowledge my husband when he thanks her for a drink. Like every time. It's happened over 4-5 times. She completely dismisses him like he's done something to upset her, we don't really know. He says thanks, she stares at him, no smile, no acknowledgment, and just turns away. Every single time. She makes my drinks barely warm, doesn't ever sweeten his, and it feels intentional because no one else does this. We have been coming here for years and she really just sucks to the point we deliberately try to not come on Saturdays because of her. I guess we will definitely have to continue to do that to avoid her. Drinks and staff are usually great when she's not there. read more

I didn't spend much time here, but the time I did spend was awesome! And I could instantly tell that I would love to spend more time here if I was in the area. My friend and I were in Charleston, SC and love to try different coffee shops and came across this one that was open "late". Most of the coffee shops were closing at 5pm and this one was open later! We were able to order ahead on an app and they even put it outside for us. We still stopped by inside to check it out for a second, but we were able to sit outside and relax. We tried their cold brew as well as this drink they have called the "Galaxy Latte" which had charcoal in it! I don't know if I was able to taste the charcoal, but it looked awesome and it wasn't too sweet and I enjoyed it. Everyone was really nice when we walked inside and it wasn't too crowded. It wasn't on the island where downtown Charleston was, so it has more chill vibes, than crazy busy beach city vibes. read more

One of the workers was as pleasant as could be. The other worker was incredibly rude & demeaning. I will never go here again! The shop itself is very cute & the coffee was good. BUT because of my experience with the lead barista & her attitude towards me & the way she spoke to me over a very minor misunderstanding has me calling management tomorrow & I will never go here again! That was absolutely ridiculous & no customer should ever be treated that way EVER!!!! The condescending tone & attitude was beyond ridiculous & this girl should never work with the public! Update: This morning (following day after this event occurred) I did receive a call from the owner of the business. I do want to acknowledge his concern & his apology & the fact that he cared about the situation that happened yesterday. He was very apologetic & truly listened. I truly appreciate his acknowledgment that the situation was not ok & that there was no excuse or explanation for the way I was treated. I appreciate that he did not try to make any excuses & actually heard me & acknowledged the situation was bad. I do feel for him as a small business owner. I do not normally EVER leave bad reviews. However, I do think that something must be done to fully address the worker & the situation that occurred in order to ensure no one is ever treated like this again. Hopefully the owner will do that. It was nice and cozy place to relax and have a cup. Busy the day we went but we still managed to find a spot. Staff is friendly and I enjoy the sugar free latte my wife and I ordered. The expresso taste was a bit vague to me. I didn't get a hit like I get at some of the other coffee shops. I know every place wants to distinguish themselves from Starbucks but a coffee drink should have....well a coffee flavor in front of any flavorings and ours did not. Did that make it a bad latte? Not at all! But for our taste it was what I would describe as weak. And that is of course my personal preference. Everything else about the place was wonderful and if I am in the area, I would go there again. However, I think I would have one of their coffees straight up and compare. read more

My husband and I stopped by this establishment this afternoon, and I was blown away! We ordered Autumn Spice and Pumpkin Spice lattes with a blueberry muffin and a ghost cookie. Delicious!! The service was top tier! The two young ladies working were THE absolute sweetest young ladies...so polite and kind. They helped us decide what to get and were so outspoken and conversational. They reminded me alot of my own daughters! The shop itself is well maintained, clean and very cozy. I will definitely be returning and bringing ALL of my coffee drinking gal pals with me! Awesome lattes! Great ambiance. Parking could be a struggle since it's surrounded by several other businesses but the convince of using the app for no contact pick up helps. I love the feel that you can come and relax with the different nooks you can sit at here. They gave the best apple danish I've ever had. They offer all different milks for lattes but their teas are out of this world. They sell T-shirts too! You can go sit for a quick bite or relax with a friend. This place honestly surprised me. I walked in expecting to see torani syrups and inexperienced baristas. We went there twice within 24 hours because we enjoyed the coffee so much. The syrups are all house made and the espresso was strong for a 24 oz iced latte(which is how it should be for a bigger size latte). The interior is cute and there's plenty of seating.
