Went here for my friends birthday and felt that the food and service were underwhelming. For the good: Thyme is a cute restaurant in a nice location and the drinks were nice and strong. The underwhelming and not so great: we had to ask for bread to be served and it wasn't going to be brought over otherwise, the restaurant was VERY hot and when we asked if they could put on the air we were given attitude by the waiter- It wasn't until we flagged down the lovely woman at reception who was happy to put the air on for us.I felt like the food was just bland. Nothing was cheap here (as expected in Roslyn) so for the price and experience I felt the need to write a review. And let me just say that I have absolutely no problem paying up for a nice meal. Very well made with a slight kick (of spice) in the ratatouille, great combination of flavor between the soft juicy plentiful meat (like boiled flanken or brisket), the long broad pasta, and fresh parmesan cheese. However, didn't enjoy what seemed like slightly stale small dinner rolls (one per person). Also, loved their decaf cappuchino. We arrived 6:00 PM on a Saturday night and for the next hour conversation with our friends was easy and it was less crowded. By seven, it not only got more crowded, but they also had a jazzy guitarist that only added to the noise. Great food and ambiance. A really nice American restaurant that serves some of the most amazingly delicious foods in the area. We were blown away by the crispy calamari, which features a much thinner batter layer that had a nice and crispy crunch, more akin to Japanese tempura. The portion sizes were fairly large too, and the amount of meat in the braised short rib papardelle was amazing. The creamy texture of the meat blended very well with the fresh parpardelle. The seafood paella is certainly a must get, with the rice layer really soaking up the flavour of the mussels and clams that fill the plate to the brim in both quantity and flavour. Went to Thyme for brunch today and enjoyed it! The $33 brunch deal is really reasonably priced and has many great options to choose from, which I appreciate with a deal like that. I had the smoked salmon benedict which was fabulous, and my friend had the chicken milanese sandwich which seemed good as well. They started us off with yummy scones before our meal, which was a nice surprise. The place was cozy with nice views of the water. Service was fine. I don't live super close, so I won't be running back to try it again, but brunch here was a good experience. read more

I went on Saturday 8/23/25. The food and service were fine. The problem was they told me at the time of the reservation they would have a little birthday cake and candle for my mother in law who was up from Florida. They never did anything and I could not say anything with her sitting at the table. I called them when I got home and they just said sorry for the miscommunication. I've heard so many good things about Thyme and we were really excited about coming. The exterior has a whimsical feel to it...like you're going into a big fancy cottage for some out of this world meal. Parking lot is big and with a nice view too! We were in awe for about 3 minutes...until we walked in to the hostess and asked for a table for 4. She asked the typical "do you have a reservation?" and we said we were just walk-ins. And I swear the hostess rolled her eyes and exhaled a sigh (later confirmed by my party that they all saw it too). The restaurant was only maybe 1/4 full so I don't see why she scoffed the way she did. To Ms. Hostess, you are the front of the house...there's no reason for that. We tried to brush it off only to be reminded again by our waiter of what happened. We only had a minute to look at the menu when he returned and asked if we wanted anything to drink. We said we weren't ready...and he too scoffed! Then when he came to take our order, he looked annoyed, bothered, no eye contact, not even a fake smile... Regardless of those 2, we still enjoyed our meal. The eggs benedict was really good with a crispy hash as its base. The smoked salmon benedict sounded better than it wasted unfortunately. Portions were bigger than expected so we were really stuffed. Bloody Mary seem a bit watered down but I guess that's expected. At least add a piece of celery in it! I really wanted to give Thyme at least a 4 star rating...maybe even 5...but the bad attitude from the hostess and one of the waiter's left an impression on me. read more

We chose the BBQ Brisket and scrambled eggs with a Blood Orange Margarita (they use Don Julio Blanco.) We also had the Crabcake Burger, which is a pound of shellfish deliciousness with a Peach (Goya) Bellini ($7 J. Roget Champagne), which was a perfect combination. The Sirloin burger was topped with 2 slab-style bacon strips and Cheddar with crusted French fries, which adds more savoriness. You're started off with drop Sugar Biscuits, which are a bit dry but helped with whipped Cinnamon Butter and came the we had a side of the Strawberry spread that accompanies the regular biscuits. Like usual we didn't have a lot of time to be able to seat and eat something from their entree menu. So when the hostess offered us a seat at the bar we were fine with it. The bartender was very friendly and nice. My wife had a glass of Cabernet and I had the New York Sour which is their version of a whisky sour (really good). Everything from food to service is just superior! Cute little restaurant where on 1st floor they invite live band to play while people dining and we were seated on the second floor near fireplace. Not a big space but very cute cozy and warm atmosphere. Young waiters are all very friendly and attentive. The best service ever! First time I went with my friend and had pesto pasta and cod dish with seasonal vegetables, yummy!! All very scrumptious. Second time I went back with my family just two months ago to celebrate my birthday. We had tuna tartar for appetizers and had seafood pasta, cod dish / shrimp dish and grilled scallop and lots of cocktails too. Can't remember the name of each dish since it's been a while but all I can say is that I was not disappointed at all even at second time that all their dishes were so flavorful and had the special home-made touch to it that our family enjoyed so much. Thyme is a great resturant. The location is great in Roslyn with the water view that adds to the experience. The menu has some unique dishes that I didn't expect. Like the duck tacos which were so good o forgot to take a picture. And the Brie and apple appetizer also wonderful. The lamb chops were done perfectly and both very different chicken dishes were perfectly cooked. The falafel bowl was interesting, good and very filling. A few things that bothered me. Not a big deal but if you're a fan of Charlie trotter's and have read his books you get it. For instance we had a great table in the corner with a nice view of the lake. And even with staff opening and closing the door it was a nice view. But the door is broken and has not been lit back together well. The jam is busted the knob plate is slanted and the window could use a cleaning. If you look around the resturant there are many of these little things that stand out as simple to fix things. Some of the posts across the apps complained about the hostess she was fine. Not sure why anyone has an issue. She's not overly friendly but we were greeted and seated promptly. Now for the service. Our waiter was great. Knew the menu well. Made some great recommendations and checked in regularly. read more

You are leaning all the way back. You have to move your chair all the way up to the table. The table by us (who got there about 10 minutes after us) got their food before us. My friend ordered a certain wine, they gave her the wrong one. They corrected it, though. I like the warm olive bread and butter they give you while you are waiting for the food. The avacado toast came with 2 sunny side up eggs and a salad. I will pass if there is a next time - burnt, so hard and crispy. So expensive! My friend ordered an omelette and a glass of wine. I brought my family here for a birthday dinner, and it was the perfect setting; the restaurant is in a charming little house and we sat outside by the street (the lakeside tables were reserved, unfortunately). It's a chic, yet rustic place that's great for family or small gatherings. There is also an upstairs floor that is very dark, and filled with families. We ordered the lamb, the chicken, the marinated kabobs, and the side of the sweet potato fries. Everything was cooked to perfection, and my mom and I, who shared the lamb dish, were raving about how tender the meat was. It may have been some of the best lamb I've ever had. For dessert, we got the mango, lemon, and raspberry sorbet scoops, and they even placed a candle in it and sang for us. Our waiter started out strong, but when it came to bill time, he basically disappeared, and that irked me. They also accidentally charged us for teas that we never got, so always just review your bill before paying (here and everywhere!). read more

After having brunch here, Thyme made me think of this song, like a classic oldie that puts a smile on your face when you hear that song long begone after all these years. Thyme has a rustic charm and housed in a type of old style farm house from the turn of the century. The restaurant overlooks the Roslyn pond famous for duck watching. A quick side note. They have valet service just be on your toes as the entrance to the lot is on Tower Pl and you can easily miss it since the street is so short. If you miss it you will need to make a half mile loop around to get back due to the traffic patterns. We were here for Sunday brunch and due to Covid/CDC guidelines limited indoor and outdoor seating are available. Once we were seated they served us a warm scone with sweet butter. A nice way to wake up the palette so to speak. We ordered the steak with eggs and Thyme Benedict. We had the steak cooked medium rare and the eggs poached. The steak and eggs were delicious. They served potatoes and constructed a mini tower of sliced squash and tomatoes that was visually stunning and more importantly delicious. The Thyme Benedict uses a potato pancake in place of the English muffin. The potatoes pancakes was a thing of beauty! The potatoes had a crunchy exterior while the center was soft, a great balance of textures and a bit on the saltier side. The hollandaise sauce was yummy and was also served with mushrooms, ham and a vegetable tower of squash and tomatoes. The restaurant has 2 floors and the restrooms are upstairs. The service staff was nice and friendly and the private lot is perfect as the street parking is limited due to the layout of the streets. We are looking forward to come back here real soon, for me anytime is the right Thyme. read more

Thyme is an adorable restaurant overlooking the lake. I would recommend sitting downstairs or in the patio, but not upstairs as the top level lacks the ambience that the main level has. Overall we had a decent experience for dinner. The kale and brussel sprout salad, as well as the calamari were delicious. I don't recommend the duck tacos - they were a bit bland. We were looking forward to the seafood paella and ordered it. but it was underwhelming. For dessert we tried the banana bread pudding, which was a bit dry and tasteless. We ere fortunate to have Leonard as our server, superb, attentive and very personable. Surprising we all chose starters instead starters and entrees. My wife loves crab cakes so she selected the CRISPY JUMBO-LUMP CRAB CAKE, Jicama & Apple Slaw, Chipotle Aioli , excellent. I opted for the SEARED RARE TUNA ,Seaweed Salad, Avocado Wasabi Aioli, Pickled Cucumber, Plum Sweet Soy Emulsion and also the CRISPY CALAMARI, Baby Arugula, Red Onion, and Peach Chili Vinaigrette . Both were superb. We also shared a WARM BAKED BRIE WITH APPLES, Puff Pastry, Organic Greens, Red Seedless Grapes, and Raspberry Coulis, very good. Booked my sisters baby shower here . It was a small lunch in of 11 people nothing crazy since it's her 3rd baby ! We came with gift bags and small flowers as party favors that the OWNER refused to let us bring into her establishment ! My mom made the reservation 2 months in advance and asked if she would be allowed to decorate and all they said was yes but no confetti ! Not the case upon arrival ! Very disappointed in how the owner treated my mom and I ! She kept shoving our gifts and favors in a small closet along with the baby balloon I had made for my sister ! After driving by so many times, came here for dinner and sat outdoors. The staff was incredibly friendly, and WOW the food was phenomenal! The warm bread to start was delicious, and the baked Brie appetizer was completely out of this world.
