I LOVE thundercloud- it is definitely one of my favorite places to get a sandwich. I've been going to thundercloud for years in Austin but this location is really not good. Every time I've come here the employees have been very rude and passive aggressive. Coming from an Austin experience with the most friendly employees at every location I go to, this is off-putting. In addition, the employees are not very good at making sandwiches. I came here a few months ago and ordered my usual Turkey sandwich. The guy making It barely put any mustard on it - just one line. I asked for more and he put a pea sized amount more. Are they trying to ration their condiments??? It was very frustrating. In addition to that, the other times I have been here the employees barely put any mayo, lettuce or tomatoes and routinely forget to add ingredients. Again, I love thundercloud but this location has let me down consistently. Nothing like the vibe and quality of Austin locations. :( read more

I came in today and ordered a nada chicken, found out after my sandwich was made that the breading on the nada chicken was not vegan and included egg. The staff was extremely understanding and friendly, they remade me a veggie sandwich and that was that. It's awesome that y'all have staff that not only respects peoples diets, but would go out of the way to make sure that your customers are informed about ingredients. Couldn't recommend this place enough! ( I'd suggest changing from Morningstar to Boka chicken patties since they are vegan and delicious) read more

Maybe it was just a new employee but the two subs we just ate were dry, slightly stale, and very conservatively made (aka the last few bites were just bread). Friendly service earns two stars. read more

Worst. Nickeled and dimes for every topping. All I wanted was tuna with pickles. It came with cheese and avocado, but all I wanted was pickles, so they insisted on charging me extra. I explained I didn't need cheese, they refused. A little common sense and customer service would have been appreciated. I understand policy, but use your sense and customer service hat and do the right thing for the customer! I've worked customer service my whole life and this was the worst as far as thinking about the customer and not nickel and dining them for every little thing. Will never return. read more

It's obviously a part of AH. The subs are so good I had to take a break. NY Italian is amazing. The newer addition, Big Paul is also damn good. It's basically the go-to sandwich shop in AH and has been for a very long time. I really hope they never leave because it's part of my lifestyle at this point. read more

We lived about a mile away and this was my go-to spot for a quick, healthy meal! Great service and excellent sandwhiches! Get there early during the week for lunch! They can get very busy! Try the Elvis smoothie! Also, the veggie sandwich is really fantastic. I rarely got anything else! read more

As far as sandwiches and salads go, this place is the best! Their ingredients are always fresh and they never skimp on the meat. I either get their Austin club sandwich or salad. I know I would love their other menu items, but I really like my usual so much! The staff is always very friendly. Placed an online order for 12 sandwiches the day before, and wasn't ready - they had not even started at pick up time!!!! Very poor service. Won't use again for large order. *Update: received a personal call from the manager who not only apologized but refunded my entire (!) order. Too bad. I walked in at 10:25. The girl behind the counter tells me they are not open, so I ask when they open. She tells me it will be 5 minutes. No problem. I asked if I could just sit and wait. These are the beeeeest sandwiches ever!!! Highly recommend the New York Italian, so delicious. They recently changed their bread, and I don't like this new one as much, but overall it's a minor detail and anyone else that has tried it has not noticed a difference. Thundercloud subs is my favorite place to go for a sandwich! Ever since i found them i've never gone back to a subway. They are fresh and healthy. I love that they give more of the insides with less bread! Mikhala and Lauren always happen to be the ones who make my sandwich and they know just how I like it. They are super sweet and really good at keeping a conversation going while they make your delicious sandwich. Kudos to you girls for doing such a great job and keep it going! read more

Very friendly environment quick,easy, and affordable . Subs are great! I think the best thing about this place is that it's still growing , it doesn't have the big "subway" feel to it. Not a production line. I love the small town vibe they have, where costumer come first. I will be back. read more

I went to the Thundercloud on Nacogdoches on Tuesday and while my sandwich was delicious, the service wasn't the best. I've been to this location a few times and this one worker has always been really short with me and made me feel uncomfortable. I didn't catch her name, but she has bright multi colored hair ( I think it was green?). This most recent time, she was working and was visibly upset. She was slamming cabinets, throwing things and talking to coworkers about how annoyed and irritated she was. It made me really uneasy, so I left early. I understand everyone has a bad day, but I could tell everyone in the restaurant was uncomfortable at this open display of aggression. read more

The food is fine. I was just blown away at how rude one of the employees was. An elderly man came in and before he could even speak, she yelled, "We have nothing for you today." The entire restaurant went silent, and he was obviously embarrassed. It was so rude. The man did not even have a chance to speak. He could have wanted to order. When he left, the woman started making rude comments to her coworkers and laughing at the man. I will not be back based on this Thundercloud employee's lack of respect. read more

Having attended college in Austin, Thundercloud subs had been a staple of my diet for most of undergrad. I was so excited to find a location here in San Antonio! Not only does Thundercloud offer a very affordable deal of a different rotating sandwich each month (usually lest than $6.50 for a large sub), but they make delicious soups. In addition to their overall very affordable prices, I have found the all of the staff at this location to be efficient, outgoing, interesting, and very effective "sandwich artists". Try the vegetarian sandwich with cream cheese. So delicious! read more

Some of the worst service I've ever had. Every time I go in there, they're always more worried about personal conversations and not customer service. My most recent experience was far from satisfactory. Stopped in to grab a sandwich only to be greeted by a not very happy young lady, I believe they said her name was Lauren. Lauren proceeded to throw my sandwich together in a very haphazard way, all the while being very focused on the cigarette she needed to go smoke as soon as she threw some ingredients on bread and called it a sandwich. I only know this because as she was "making" my sandwich, separate from the mandatory sandwich questions, never once asked how i was doing or anything of the like and instead proceeded to repeatedly tell her coworkers how much she needed that cigarette. Then as soon as she was done was very quick to slap my credit receipt down in front of me and run off and tend to her insatiable need for said cigarette, not even saying goodbye, or have a nice evening. Needless to say, I will not be going back anytime soon as this has been my experience here more times than not. read more

I went there today and asked for a veggie delite combo, I had to remind the girl over and over again what actually goes into a veggie sub sandwich, she didn't seem to know or care. Her dismissive attitude was not the worst part of the experience. I finally the sandwich still missing cucumbers and had to ask her for the bag of chips, when she went to ring it up she asked me if I wanted a soda with that, I said "doesn't the combo come with a drink" she didn't answer and continued to ring, I got my bill and it stated the balance was $7.65. The veggie delite combo with small sub, chips and a drink is clearly listed at $6.38. I mention this to her and she "oh there's tax", yes there is tax but not $1.27 in tax? I asked her again, she then quotes me the tax is .58 cents and walks away. I walk down the counter to follow her and ask her for a copy of my receipt as I didn't get one because I used a credit card and she took the one I signed. She comes back and gets me a copy, nothing is said to me and she walks away again. At this point I ask for a manager, she loudly tells her manager that "there's a lady who wants to talk to you. The manager, I can only assume she is the manager because she didn't introduce herself, comes over, I asked her why the difference on my receipt is so much more than the advertised price? I think this is a reasonable question, the manager takes my receipt turns around opens the cash register paper area reads the receipt gets her calculator does some math and pulls .73 cents out of the register. She then turns around hands the change to me and says "here is your .73 cents, that's what we charge for a combo" This was said as loudly as she could and then she turned around and walks away. I stood there dumbfounded, not only are they rude they are STEALING! Lets say they do this all day long, .73 cents may be a small amount once but over time and on every receipt it adds up!!! I have been going to ThunderCloud since my Austin days, but I doubt I will ever return. read more
