I really wanted to like this place. I really wanted to get to know their beer. Simply put, they ran out of tables and rather than take care of their customers, they left us to fend for ourselves. After turning a livestock animal trough over for a table, we were relegated to begging chairs off of other tables because the staff told us they were out. After waiting for an hour and a half for our food (and a half hour for each of my beers), I started to get pissed off. For a place that offered us no table and no chairs and a completely insane wait time for everything, I couldn't believe that my family of four spent $100 here. They clearly dgaf about us, but happily took our cash. Spare me the "we are a bohemian Brewery gastropub" explanation. The service sucked and we won't be back. Y'all need to take better care of your customers. Had the whole experience not been an excruciating pain in the butt, I'd have happily bought a growler of beer, but two hours plus in the hot sun made me just want to leave and never come back. read more

We found Throwback in the fall when we moved to the area. The beer selection is great and the names are a hoot. Truly something for everyone! The food, however, is fantastic! Not your typical bar fare, the ingredients are local and the meals are delicious. We love the Korean wings, the Kale salad and the fish tacos. Would give zero stars if I could. Stopped in on a rainy Saturday afternoon, looking for 2 spots at the bar. There was one seat open, and we were told they couldn't have one person sit and one person stand behind, so we opted to order two beers and wait outside (in the rain). We were put on a wait list and were told we would be called as soon as 2 bar seats opened up. I went inside to use the restroom and when I came out, saw 3 ladies sitting down at newly opened seats at the bar. The host saw this happening and did not tell the ladies that there were people (us!) waiting for those seats. I went it and asked the host about seats and he said the other party just walked in and took the seats, and he would seat us in the next high top that was available. I told him we did not want a high top; we wanted the bar seats that were just taken. Fast forward, we finished our beers and walked out. Will not be returning. We can get terrible service in Boston; no need to travel to NH. read more

Last night was the first time we've tried Throwback and it won't be the last. The setting was beautiful and the reno'd barn makes a perfect pub. The service was great from the moment we walked in. There were 5 of us, 4 of whom ordered various beers and said they were very good. My margarita was tasty and refreshing. We shared both the Cheese and Charcuterie Slates which had some interesting selections of cheeses, meats, The quick pickled vegetables were excellent. I ordered the Buddha Bowl with Tofu upon the recommendation of the waiter and very happy with it. 2 of the others had fish tacos, 1 had the Korean Beef Bowl, and the other had the burger which he had the last time he was there. He raved about it and most importantly, it came out at the temp he requested. If you like burgers, you must know how rare it is to find a kitchen that is able to do this consistently. I wish I hadn't finished my Buddha Bowl because I'd love to have saved some for breakfast this morning. We'll be going back soon. read more

Love, love, love this place! Beers are awesome, food and delicious and customer service is the best. This brewery is on a massive beautiful farm. There is outdoor seating with a fire pit and plenty of seating. Their menu changes with what is fresh and what they can make none delicious. Now the beers are amazing and its hard to choose. They have one a stout that was brewed with carrots from their farm. Now that was a carrot cake I liked!! read more

I eat at throwback 2 to 3 times a week when I am living nearby at my summerhouse. During the winter I drive up from Massachusetts at least once a week to eat at Throwback. The beer is terrific. The waitstaff is adorable. And I think the food is great. I mostly eat out, I am a bit of a "foodie", And I am a rather critical diner.There may be some things so I like better than others, but everything is local and made fresh.I love the rice bowl, the burgers, the Korean wings....The schnitzel special made me weep! I've had terrific breakfasts there, great snacks and wonderful meals. Seriously I drive up from Massachusetts to go there ! I continue to be a regular customer and bring new friends here all the time. I haven't yet had anyone be disappointed even though my over-the-top recommendations raise their expectations. Just last week a new friend was delighted with the fish, and the cheese board which I'd never had was fresh and wonderful. Their new season kale salad was terrific. Seriously. Had lunch with a friend and ordered the taco's - was blown away by the varied textures and tastes. And, that's a simple little taco. The wings are legendary, the burgers are consistently delicious, and pretty much anything I've eaten there has been GREAT. I'm not heaping on the praise because I think so much of everyone that works there - if the food was marginal, I'd tell you. So I do hold the right to change to 4 on a weekend, as I went on a Thursday afternoon, but for me Throwback was just OK. The beer was pretty good. Enjoyed the cherry sour and their Dark Lager the most. However the food was severely overpriced and lacking for what it cost. $17 for a pork chop sandwhich is a bit much. I understand locally grown is more expensive but it's hard to argue that particular sandwhich is worth what you pay for it. The folks were friendly, albeit a bit absent. Didn't really have the vibe many breweries do that the staff wants to enjoy a conversation about beer/the Brewery. Just sort of order and sit wherever. So for that reason I'd argue it was simply OK. Will try again on a day like Saturday though to see if the experience is the same. read more

Went here because it was close and recommended. When we arrived they insisted on masks though most other eating places around have dropped it. The seating is all outdoor and nicely spaced. I came here a few times over the summer and had a mixed bag of experiences. A couple different times I got flights, all of which had some really inventive and fun beers--the jalepeño Spicy Bohemian was pretty cool to try, and the Hog Happy was also a great find. The Hopstruck IPA was also great if you're a fan of IPA's, and I think if you're looking for a fun place to try some small-batch beers this is the go-to spot. That being said, I was wholly disappointed with the food. I came here with my parents and we all came away feeling as though the beer was much better. The burger, pulled pork sandwich and kale salad all seemed to lack flavor. I'm hoping that was just an off day, but I'l have to come back to try it. read more

Would have been 1 star but they brew their own beer. Perhaps my bad experience was a result of the service staff/kitchen having a bad night but anyway.... We arrived with my family of 5 at 6PM on Saturday night. The bartender was very responsive to us and took our beer orders. After placing our food order we received the appetizers relatively quickly (within 10 minutes). This is where things get bad... We put our food order in at around 6:30ish and 720PM rolls around and one of the wait staff comes over to me and says "Sorry, we just ran out of Pulled Pork. Can I get you anything else?" This normally wouldn't have been a problem but seriously? 45-50 minutes after we order?? I was awestruck and did not feel like waiting another 45 minutes so I sadly didn't order anything else. My family's food took another 20 minutes after this to arrive at our table (1+ hours after we ordered). I have worked in the restaurant industry all throughout college ranging from small family-owned restaurants to corporate giants like the Outback steakhouse. I will honestly say that I have never experienced the lack of...well...nothingness that came about our situation. No apologies, no helping us out with our tab, nothing at all except for a smug look on the waitor's face after I told him I didn't want anything else. I thought to myself "Is this normal? Am I being weird?" I think not. Perhaps the funniest part about the entire night aside from the lack of management is the lack of communication between the kitchen and service staff. As I stood by the bar to pay my tab (hungrily I might add) I heard two men right next to me order the pulled pork. I promptly told them that they were out of pulled pork but the bartender said "We do have pulled pork." I was fuming at this point and decided that instead of causing a scene I would just walk away. The bartender quickly came over to me and said "Oh wait.. you're right... we did run out of pulled pork." Needless to say... I have been to numerous restaurants and I can think of maybe 2 that I will not go back to. After Saturday's debacle, I will not be back and simply cannot recommend this place to any of my friends for the sheer principle of the situation. read more

We did not realize you need to fill out your own order on paper and bring it up to the bar. When drink ready or food they deliver to you. The sever did not ask if we wanted another beer. We waited over a hour for two burgers that they forgot about. They did not ask if we wanted anything while we waited. The burger was greasy and bread was drizzled with even more grease. The wings were fine. Our beer was good. Would I go back, probably not. Nothing "wowed" us except for the friends we were with. read more

Oh this place is lovely. Super cute barn with a great little space. We went on a Sunday early evening and weren't sure if we wanted food but I'm so glad we stayed. The food is a little pricey for rural areas but on par for the food. They had 10+ draft beers plus local cider. They also have a full menu with meat, vegan, and more. We started with the onion dip which was homemade with fresh chips. I got the fried rice bowl and a flight of 4 beers. My husband got a churizo bowl with an IPA. Both of us really liked our meals and beers. I will say that our food was a little cold. We added the app late to our order so maybe they held the food for a little bit but the chips for the onion dip were also cold, like they'd been in a fridge or something. The food was very fresh and the flavor was really good. Typically I don't care too much but these dishes would have been better piping hot. I love the space and had no issues ordering. We sat at the bar and service was good. There wasn't much of a line ordering for tables either. read more

Throwback is a really nice brewery. It's on a scenic farm. There is plenty of seating both inside and outside. We ordered inside and the beer was brought outside once it was ready. A waitress came around to take refill orders as well. There were several options to choose from for the sampler. I was a big fan of Hopstruck IPA and imperial and maple porters. My wife and I have been here about 3 times now. The beer is something special, fresh, well crafted and possibly the best local product around. Good service, nice atmosphere. A couple suggestions form and old restaurateur: Put some standards on the menu. I know its cliche but people want Shepard's Pie and maybe Cornish pasties and the like. The acoustics could use some work, its hard to have a conversation when its busy. If you put a patio outside and a few of those restaurant outdoor space heaters, you'd have to fight off the customers with a stick. read more

I had the black bean burger with kale and broccoli salad - OMG I'm gonna want to go back ASAP for another. Went with my wife and daughter on a saturday afternoon. Was really excited to try it as I've known of throwback for a few years and have liked the beer I've tried. Service was ok, for a largely self-service presentation, people were nice. Neat to see the inside of this barn I've seen for so many years. Beer was good. The food though, was a disappointment, imho. My burger was ok... I didn't love the spent grain bun. They had the grilled cheese and neither really liked it - I suspect they actually put the cheese directly on the grill - which is weird. Had it been reasonably priced, we probably would have been fine, but it cost as much as it does to take my whole 5 person family out to a good dinner elsewhere, for a 3 person lunch... one of those people being a six year old. I will go back - but probably for cribbage and beer, not food. I want to support the local business and natural-based ideals they have - but I just can't see doing that thru food unless the price comes down and it gets better. read more

Went last week, ate outside. During our visit, three parties arrived with dogs. It seemed cute at first, until the smell of dog excrement wafted everywhere. I guess someone had an accident, and though I am a dog owner and lover this was over the top. The single menu really slowed down our ordering process, which we had to do by writing our own order down and taking it inside to pay. I don't like this model of food service. Stopped here for dinner and some beers for our group of five. All the way across the beers were excellent and the maple porter, pale ale and Pilsner were all agreed to be very good with great flavor and well crafted. Our food selections varied from the schnitzel to veggie bowls and both the Throwback burger and falafel burger all of which were very tasty. Granted we were hungry, but fresh ingredients, well paired flavors and culinary skills all came through for each of our selections. We did not try any desserts but instead lingered and played some of the available board games they have out. The setting is relaxing and if you appreciate agriculture and farming you will be comfortably at home. Service is low key and efficient with the drop of selection and seat yourself set up. We loved it here - staff was super friendly and the food was to die for - we enjoyed the poutine, and Korean wings - both amazing - then it was clear that our eyes were bigger than our stomachs as we thought we could split the meatloaf sandwich. The portion on this was HUGE - we split a half of it- delicious though! And since it's a brewery - I should mention the beer is great - try the Hefeweizen or if you are braver on a hot day try the jalapeño brew! The brewers/owners are women, and these ladies know their beer. Throwback is a tiny little hole in the wall, but full super friendly people, great beer and awesome merch. They have SO MANY porters & dark beers! Plus a good section of other types, as well as some seasonal specialties. Tastes for free, 4oz pours for a buck, plus growlers and bombers. I'm only sorry I'm not closer to take advantage of growler hours more often. read more
