Are you kidding me with this new location??? I can't love this place anymore than I steady do unless I quit my job and started working here!!! I love everything about this place...the fact that it's women owned and operated, they locally source all ingredients, they have a gastropub, they have adorable merchandise...the list goes on and on and on!! You gotta check out my pictures to get an idea of how adorable this place is!!! They give you bobble heads when you order food and drinks!!! Everything from Yoda to Wonder Woman to Kermit the Frog...such a frickin cute concept!!! Seriously! Oh and the beer, the real reason we come...it's just so versatile and fun!! There's jalapeño beer, rhubarb beer...a beer called "Cashmere tracksuit" and so many other goodies!!! Honestly, if I lived closer, this would be my hangout! Was feeling down about not being out and about during these difficult times. Took a drive and we see this great looking place with people sitting outside. I ask the husband to turn around so we can take a look. Walk in out of the blue and they recommend reservations next time at one of the fire pit areas, but they give us a nice stand up. Tyler recommends (thanks Tyler) some hot drinks and beer. OMG, just a porter and hot toddy while listening to The Dead, Rolling Stones, and Led Zep and spirits are lifted. I now know where I can spend my 50th birthday with my friends I haven't seen months. CANNOT WAIT! Great vibe and the couple next to us tell us the food is great. Nestled on a little farm in North Hampton, Throwback Brewery is a good restaurant to go to with friends. I actually had dinner here on a Thursday night with a cousin that I've never met, so that was nice. I think my favorite beer on tap here was the Oma Tribute. I wanted to take that in a growler to go but I never thought of it. The weather was nice enough to sit outside, but it was overcast. Luckily it didn't rain. Cute brewery nestled on a farm with animals and more. We did not see the animals as it was a stormy day but the place was featured on chronicle so we know they have them AND we asked. There is a new pig coming soon. They have food and great beer selection. I like sours and they even have a sour flight. Loved that. I saw a nice function room also that was pretty cozy looking. Came in for lunch today. Based off the previous reviews I had higher expectations. This place has a nice ambiance and plenty of seating, but the service was very slow. Took almost 15 minutes once we were seated for a server. We put in drinks, an app and entrees (fish tacos and a burger) at the same time. Our app and entrees came out at almost the same time. No one ever came back to check on us or to see if we wanted more drinks. The tacos were good, but the burger was just okay. read more

Food was good, the beer was good, the setting was good, but the system of ordering was terrible. Then they tried to take our food from us... Was happy to finally try this place and I really liked the atmosphere. It was trendy but welcoming and it really came across as a lot of fun! My friends and I ordered drinks and we noted that we had to go up to the bar to order food. We then went up and ordered appetizers and they later brought them to our table. We were halfway through our appetizers when we decided to go order our dinner. We left half-eaten plates that we were not finished with yet as well as all of our personal belongings to go order food. As we were doing so, the waitress cleared the table of everything. She took all of our uneaten appetizers while we were literally ordering ordering our dinner. We confronted her about it but she continued to deny any wrongdoing, saying the plates were empty. It really ruined the evening and put a damper on the whole experience. I am not an expert on the restaurant business but I know that if you make a mistake like that, you really shouldn't argue with the customer about it. You would just offer to fix things as well as you can. It's that simple. Instead she soured our experience and I have no plans to return any time soon. Kind of sad actually... read more

The only reason I'm upset is for not trying Throwback sooner. We didn't have a reservation but luckily got in as a walk in. (Definitely make a reservation though, it's online and easy!! Do as I say not as I do lol) we each tried a different sour. The Plum was our favorite and even got a 4 pack to take home. Would have liked to see a vegan soup available, I really wanted the pumpkin soup but it had a chicken broth. The grilled cheese was easily the best I've ever had. The bread, the stretch on the cheese, 10/10. So glad we got sweet potato fries too. Everything on the menu seemed fairly simple but they perfected each dish and made them taste so unique. Inside seating is at 4-8 person tables (i.e. none for 2 that I saw). Portion sizes are very large; certainly enough for 3 people; salads enough for 4. Extremely noisy inside. It was too cool to sit outside but that would be my choice otherwise. The noise level makes conversation extremely difficult. The food is good but just too much. Service also good and relatively prompt. Unfortunately not a pleasant experience due to the noise level. read more

I have tried throwback's beers many times, but today was the first time I've visited the brewery. The brewery sits right next to an adorable farm, features outdoor and indoor seating, allows dogs, and has the friendliest of staff. We had a great time. They open at 11, but keep in mind the kitchen doesn't open until noon. We had a great time with the pup sipping our ales waiting though! We got the onion dip, which was absolutely delicious and the kale, sprout and quinoa salad. The flavor was amazing and the portions quite large. Between the service, food/beer, and atmosphere, this place is an absolute must! read more

Great atmosphere, food and beer are delicious. My wife is a vegetarian and always has plenty of options. The burger is great, bowls are tasty, and they always have a few new beers and old standbys worth enjoying. They also have wine which my gluten free sister-in-law appreciates. The one drawback is it can be hard to eat here. Reservations are hard to come by on a weekend night if not planned a few days out. Due to the fact that seatings are 90 minute blocks and they're only open til 7:30 it's sometimes quite difficult to get a spot. Although they do accept walk-ins, I have yet to get one on a handful of attempts. I've only eaten here with a reservation so keep that in mind, it's not a spur of the moment kinda place on a weekend evening! Do try though, it's worth it. Women owned and dog friendly. As a party of "10'" I was able to make a reservation... Outside only at one of their picnic tables. I believe the manager has said they had another larger group that would be there at about the same time. Anyway being the 3rd to last evening in October, once the sun went down it got quite cold. I believe the temperature dropped to 40 by the time we left ..or lower Our server was very nice and patient while just about each & every one of us asked for recommendations. I'm in no way a beer drinker & admit that a list is just a list to me...pretty sad. So after a few questions I settled on a Bottoms Up. When it arrived I thought oh my - it certainly doesn't look like the super light beer I've had in the past. After 1 sip I decided that I liked it. Friends at the table tried various flights and others .. most seemed to be pleased with what they ordered. And then the temperature started to drop .. We needed calories & quick! So our nice server took our orders. I wasn't into it ordering much. So I chose 2 snacks - the onion dip with homemade chips & spiced nuts. Both were excellent. My friend to my right had a charcuterie board consisting of all sorts of goodies - cheese, salamis, fruit and more. The diner to my right ordered what looked like Mac and cheese with chicken. All looked great.. the only issue was that the temperature kept dropping & dropping. By the time we finished most of us were so cold that we just went inside to pay. It took some time for her to work out 10 individual checks - but being inside, we were definitely not in any rush. I walked to my car, teeth chattering & noticed what seemed like frost on my windshield.... Probably just my imagination! Anyway, this will be a nice place to go back to. This is a great place to hang out and have a beer! When you walk in you order from the bar and are able to sit anywhere! The beer is great my favorite was the hop happy Hefeweizen (the beer with banana in it). I also tried the beer "I kissed a goul" and that was also very good. Cool place. The beer is very good, Fat Alberta is one of the best peanut butter stouts in my opinion... and I can't find it back home, so this was nice. Dinner itself was ok. I had a Duck Comfit Fried Rice Bowl... the duck is perfect, but all the other stuff in the bowl was a letdown, and very little of it actually makes a lot of sense with the duck. My rice was under cooked and on the crunchy side... and everything but the duck lacked seasoning. The grilled cheese is amazing! Served on home made bread that really blew my mind! This bread is out of this world. We were a large party and service was good, staff was friendly. One friend ordered the buffalo chili and it looked amazing, and by his reaction, it really was! The sides are very very good. Cheesy grits were great as was the mashed potato. They don't have traditional sodas (coke, sprite etc...) but do have craft soda. Sarsaparilla, root beer etc. If it wasn't so cold, I could see myself sitting outside, smoking a cigar and having a few beers over a couple of hours. Very cool looking building. read more

We enjoyed this spot in the Fall and it was perfect. The brews were great and some of my friends got the flight of beers and I enjoyed the seasonal Oktoberfest. The homemade food was all excellent. They also had a good kids menu with PB & J, chicken tenders, burger, apple slices. With a party of 8 we were able to make a reservation. On a Saturday in the fall this was on helpful since it was busy. Highly recommend! read more

So I visited for the first time since they moved to the farm and offered food. I like their beer and they've always been true to their style and vision which I totally appreciate. I do want to mention, however, that the craft beer scene has turned into a yuppie, hipster, pencil pusher scene and this place is the Mecca for overall snobbery with clientele. I would avoid this place like the plague on the busy hours just because of this. I don't appreciate the filthy looks and holier than thou attitude. I recommend coming here to fill your growler and skip the hangout. I just don't seem to "fit in" with the craft beer scene anymore which is ironic because I consider myself an OG in this scene. The new location is a huge upgrade from the old one. That's an understatement. It's in a nice old farmhouse with a lot more room and a kitchen serving food. It's an order at the bar kind of place. We didn't have any food during our visit, but the menu looked tasty. From what I could see they have expanded their taps as well and the variety is enormous. there should be something for everyone here from ales to some with out of the box additions. Gourmet food and delicious brews on a beautiful farm! A big plus is that it is child and dog friendly. Last Sunday we stopped in for a nice sunset dinner and every table outside had at least one pup diner. If you're lucky they sometimes have farm fresh produce and flowers for sale. All the brews we have tasted have been of consistently good quality. Our favorite beer hands down is the Pilsner, which has a slight hoppy note. A gastropub that serves really good, fresh food AND offers some great choices of their own beers/guest beers in a beautiful farm setting. You don't find too many that give you a solid hit on all fronts, but Throwback does it, and very well. I used to drive by this farmhouse all the time in the 70's and 80's, it stood out for its architectural beauty. When I realized Throwback had taken up residence there, I was anxious to visit and finally did yesterday. The ordering process is a little clunky, you have to go inside and place your order, and someone brings it out to you. I'm not sure why they just don't go with regular table service. We started with Korean wings, prepared just right, nice and crispy, although I didn't really detect much of a " Korean" flavor. They were good regardless. Mimsy and Lily got chorizo bowls, I got a BLT with sweet potato fries, and we all had the Throwback Pilsners. The beer was perfect for a hot summer day, refreshing without being too hoppy. The girls said the bowls were good, except that the avocados were underripe. Now I gotta rave about the BLT a little. I know it's just a BLT, but Usually they come with these crappy warehouse tomatoes. Not this one. A lovely ripe fresh local tomato, fresh baked bread, and nice thick bacon. We sat outside, views of the surrounding working farm. This is a dog-friendly place, so bring your pooch. Wish this was closer to my hometown. read more

This is a very nice facility, fun atmosphere and a great staff. We have been there several times to taste their great brews, but before last night we never tried their food. I had the burrito, wife had the rice bowl with chicken. The burrito was pretty good, but way overpriced at 16 bucks. The rice bowl was over seasoned and my wife couldn't eat most of it. In my opinion you should look at this place as a nice fun brewery but a below average restaurant, with very expensive food. Great value on the beer, food not so much. read more

The fish tacos and the burger were delicious as was the kale and apple salad. The sweet potato fries were probably the best I have ever had. The (I think) thistle or thyme porter was also really unique and good. I would return for beer. Was $8 for 4 samples. Food: both people in our group didn't finish their burger. Patty appeared pre frozen which for a double digit price is absurd. The bottom buns were soggy. Poutine came with chopped onion which is not traditional. Our friend doesn't like onions so that was unfortunate. The shepherds pie was tasty. The grilled cheese for the kids in our group was crazy small and the bread was so high their little mouth could barely eat it. The wings were not tasty. The food was pretty disappointing overall. I want to like this place, but every time I go there I can't help but think - "This place stinks." The beer stinks. The service is even worse. Quick story from my last visit. It was lunchtime on a Sunday. It was busy, but nothing crazy or unusual or hectic. I put my name in for a table for 4. Was told it'd be about 20 minutes. No biggie - "I'll just wait outside," I told the hostess (who I believe is also one of the owners). "I'll need your telephone number so we can text you when your table is ready." Except I didn't have my phone with me and neither did my wife. "Well, without your phone we won't be able to let you know when you're table is ready." Ummm - I'll just be sitting right outside - literally 10 feet from where we're standing right now. "Well we're just so busy, we're not going to be able to find you." There's only one other group of people sitting outside - are you really saying you won't be able to poke your head out and let me konw the table is ready? "Well we're just so busy right now, so without your phone..." Nevermind - I'm just gonna leave. I had a $50 gift card with me that someone gave me for Christmas. I literally handed it to the next person in line as I left. No need to go back. Besides, the beer stinks. read more

My family and I were driving up to Maine for the weekend and happened to be passing through this area. The brewery is dog friendly (outside area, not sure about inside). The property this is located at is on a farm which was really beautiful, full of lots of color and farm smells. We ordered 2 flights to share, we really liked all of them and got a 4 pack of cans to go as well. Service was really fast, walked in and ordered, our flights were ready with a few minutes even though the inside was relatively crowded with people.
