Steer clear from Farhana!!! She is very rough. While doing my eyebrows in the middle she put some type of gel on my eye. Once she was done she rushed me out of the chair and would barely let me see my eye brows. I went home to take a further look and comes to find out she nicked my skin 6 (SIX!!!!) times (5 on one eye and 1 on the other), and that gel was to stop the bleeding. How does that even happen, what the heck!!! And my eyebrows are mediocore at best. She didn't even acknowledge what she did, and say sorry. But, that isn't surprising because from what others have said that seems to be a thing with her. Now I have to wait for these nicks to scab over and hopefully not leave a bruise. If you are in the area go to Lakeview Thread, way better service, cheaper, and most importantly you wont leave with battle scars. read more

Kamini is really good and I probably had the most painless threading experience of my entire life. Downsides - minus one star for the expensive full face threading charge of $60 plus tip! Also the most I have ever paid for threading. Also minus one star since I would say she missed about 10% of my hair, which I only figured out once I got back home. Overall - solid 3 stars. read more

I really, really want to like this place, and honestly, it has a lot of the elements of a five star outfit, but somehow, I was just underwhelmed when I got there. And that's just too bad, because there's very few places that thread eyebrows in the River North area. They're located right next to Sushi Samba and I love their ambiance- it was beautiful, the turmeric/mustard colored walls are really soothing, as is the classical/meditative Indian instrumental tunes playing over the speakers. The lady who threaded my eyebrows was super nice and her massage was fantastic. What I found a little strange: for the prices I'm paying - ($15 for eyebrow threading and $15 for a fifteen minute hot oil neck & shoulder massage) there should have been a little more privacy- not for the threading, obviously, but for the massage. They ask you to change into a loose-tube-style top in a little area curtained off at the back- which is the same place where the massage takes place- and which all the other stylists can walk through as needed. I'm not a prude, and asking me to sit there for my massage is fine, but they have no separate changing room, and that was the awkward part- the lady who did my massage told me that no one would walk through, and no one did, but still, it's a little worrisome :). Also noted- they have only one little shampoo/sink stand in that back area, so things may be a little awkward if you walk in for a massage and try and change there, and there's someone getting a shampoo done as well! The massage itself was wicked though, and for $1 a minute, not bad at all. The threading was a little slower than I'm used to, but since I'd let my eyebrows grow in a lot, that obviously couldn't be helped. I'm very satisfied with my eyebrows though- $15 for the area is ok, (but if you really want, you can get your eyebrows, chin and upper lip done for $10 in Devon!) and I shall definitely be returning for that! read more

I walked into this eyebrow treading place while walking from FedEx completely by random and all I can say is...... OMG!!! I wish I could taking the the lady that did my brows back home to Las Vegas with me! So perfect and just the way I want them! She didn't over pluck even though she noticed one side was thicker. I've been getting my eyebrows threaded ever since my friend from NY took me in Jackson Heights for $5 7 years ago. Since then, I've been going only every so often to Devon (since it's such a trek to go all the way up there) to Dilshad's where to do an excellent job, and charge only $7. Since I can't make it up to Devon that often, I've been struggling in-between visits to maintain my brows. that is, until my friend introduced me to Thread Away! They charge $15 for brows, and $10 for upper lip, and best of all, they're located in River North, right by Sushi Samba. The lady did an excellent job at shaping my brows. They also offer full body threading, and massage services, which I will never try, but it's an FYI. They only have 2 chairs, but the lady moves pretty quickly -- I'd say about 5-10 mins a person. Quick and professional. Walked in, no wait (no appt either!), sat down immediately with Ayeisha. She was clearly a pro- got right down to threading and was probably done in 90 seconds, leaving me with perfect brows. Much better than waxing (my usual)- because wasn't nearly as red and could go straight to an event. Plus, they put after-threading lotion on after with a mini face massage. Super relaxing. Cost the same as waxing, but with how close they are to my office, how professional and quickly they work, this will def be my new brow spot. read more

This is one of my favorite businesses in Chicago. Kimini is always professional, there is rarely a wait, they have decent prices and an easy check out process with Square. The best part is after a facial wax or threading, they ask you if you want a 5 minute face massage with aloe. Always say yes. I honestly would go in just for that. Ok, I have to say first and for most, people and their reviews need to check back into reality! Threading will hurt for some and wont for others. It depends on the kind of person you are. The reviews complaining about it hurting, well it depends on the person. For me, I can not wax my eyebrows cause I get too much irritation and breakout like a high school girl, and it hurts to know end for me. Now on the other hand, I will go and get a full Brazilian wax and I don't have the same issues. I will say a Brazilian feels more shocking than ever painful. But the larger point here is that it might hurt but that will depend on what your definition of hurt is. Now, back to Thread Away. It's a very clean place. I did not wait at all. The woman who did my eyebrow thread was kind, polite, and quick. I think the whole process, walking in, threading, and paying, took 15mins. I will agree with the other reviews about the price. I would not hold back in praising her for her diligent effort to give her best. They do a great job here! I'm very picky about my eyebrows, and am nervous to let people go at them with wax. Threading is a great option for my very sensitive and highly reactive skin. I love you went in the morning right when they opened and did not have to wait. The woman did a great job on my brows and when she asked me if I wanted a forehead massage, I knew how to answer from Yelp... The forehead massage was unreal. It felt so good. I texted my husband when I was done wiping the drool off my face asking him to replicate the experience. It almost makes up for the insane amount of pain necessary for maintaining "brows on fleek." The woman who owns and manages the place is the sweetest lady ever. As this was my first threading experience, she was so patient to walk me through the process and put my fears at ease. I normally wax but I finally got tired of having raw red skin and breaking out in pimples that I decided to try threading. It's a much less painful experience than waxing and eyebrows come out looking much cleaner, as threading is a more precise art. I loved the mini massage and for $10, I'm definitely going to be back - it's so much less expensive than waxing and there's very little, if any, skin irritation. Because of its locale and the shrubbery up front, Thread Away offers clients a bit of privacy which is much welcomed when you're flat on your back and having work done right there in the middle of the salon. This is an awesome place to go to get your eyebrows threaded. The woman was really friendly and really fast. I was done in about 10 minutes. Parking is a bit hard but i found a meter around the corner. I thought it would take longer so I got a chance to walk around aftewards because i have over an hour on the meter! My eyebrows did get slightly red afterwards. But my skin kinda gets weird even after I try to pluck so nothing really that she did. It was my first time and I'm totally coming back. They appearantly do massages and body waxing which I haven't tried. I'm definately going back when I need eyebrows re done. It seemed like a perfect balance between waxing and plucking - faster but without huge mistakes possibilities. Great place! My eyebrows always look SO good after I go here and even though I wait longer (1 - 2 months) in between sessions to fully grow my eyebrow hair so they can reshape my brows, they always look SO GOOD! The price is not bad at all for the quality of service you receive. I'd much rather pay more for someone who takes their time, does a good job and is consistent with their service. I go here for threading and it's pretty average. You also pay a lot for an average job. Unfortunately it's one of the only places downtown that doesn't butcher your eyebrows when threading so I go here, but if you can find another place, I would say avoid Thread Away. The ladies here find a reason to blame my eyebrows for them not doing a good job. Isn't it their job to make my eyebrows look great regardless of how they are when I walk in? My original eyebrow lady moved and she used to work magic on them every time. Never complained. So I don't get why these ladies do. read more

After looking for a decent threading place I came across Thread Away. Reviews were great so I gave it a shot and I wasn't disappointed. Great service, clean and relaxing experience. After my eyebrows were done Ayesha massaged my forehead and eyebrows, which did wonders on my sensitive to threading skin. Love this threading salon and one of the best in downtown Chicago! They are very knowledgeable, thorough and do a great job shaping the brows. As someone who has been getting their eyebrows threaded since they were 15 years old, I would recommend this place to anyone.
