This was my first time visiting this place for threading and waxing. The threading was good, but I was very disappointed with the waxing. The wax quality seemed poor -- it felt extremely harsh and painful afterward, even though nothing was immediately visible. Later, I realized the wax had actually ripped off a layer of my skin, leaving a painful patch (photo attached). I don't think the wax they used was of good quality, and I would not recommend their waxing service based on this experience. read more

The lady who did my eyebrows was pretty quick and efficient, the only problem was that she just straight up started the service without asking for any inputs and did not check if I was satisfied with the service after either. I dropped in on a Friday expecting a wait. There was a wait. After about 10 minutes I decided to let the threader know that I was going to leave and come back. I asked about a sign on sheet and she said there wasn't one. I went and got an armpit wax down the street. When I returned the line was even longer. I waved to let her know that I was back and sat down to wait. I didn't expect her to remember me or let me go in front of anyone else. I heard 2 other people come in and ask about a sign in sheet. She also told them no and they eventually left. I waited patiently for nearly 40 minutes before the shop emptied and it was my turn. So imagine my surprise when I hear the door open, the threader walks away and begins speaking to another customer while I'm holding my eyelid. I wait. She doesn't return. I open my eyes and see through the mirror that she is working on another customer that had been in earlier and left due to the wait. She gives her a full threading before coming back to finish mine. I wasn't given the courtesy of returning to my spot in line, but more importantly, the threader didn't even have the decency to tell me she'd be abandoning my services to do her friend. And yes, it was clear they knew each other. When she finally returned she didn't even give me the courtesy of an apology or any explanation. Of course the eyebrows were inconsistent and not done well. Her energy had been paced elsewhere. I would have given the brows another chance, but I won't return due to the poor customer service and lack of consistency. read more

So I've been coming here for years and now that I moved out of Chicago, I still find days to come back. Why? The ladies here are that great with the eyebrows. They're quick and efficient and know how to make your brows look great. It can get busy after work, but I haven't had to wait more than 15 minutes. The shaping is done well. They offer cooling gel or lotion, if you'd prefer. They give you a mirror to check the output and they'll adjust, if you want. They've been mindful and suggested when they think it'll be best to not go further. At $10 for threading, it's quite competitive in the city. read more

I like how they do my eyebrows but it's so dark in there. The lighting is so dim so when I walk out I see more hair is left on my eyebrows then I would like. I wish they would get better lighting. Honestly the best and most affordable eyebrow place in the city. These "aunties" really do a great job threading and are quick and clean.

I always leave here overjoyed with how my eyebrows look. This is by far the cheapest and best threading salon I've found in Chicago. They're located conveniently near the L and I've never had to wait for more than ten minutes or so. The women at the salon are polite, but not exceptionally friendly as mentioned in other reviews. I personally don't come to threading salons to chat, so I don't care lol. They're not particularly gentle, but the pain doesn't phase me, so again, I don't care. Whatever gets the job done without breaking the bank. This place does exactly that. Plus the smell of incense and Indian food wafting in from the restaurant next door remind me of home :) read more

Only giving one star because of This lady named Asha who was rude to me and basically very Ill mannered. I've been going to this place for a while now - this experience happened in my third visit. I went in with the intention to compliment Asha by saying that I remember her and she did a good job on my eyebrows previously , however now they'd become uneven and I wanted them corrected. She completely misunderstood me and created a huge drama. Also this time i had taken my friend with me saying how nice this place was. Today my friend went without me and came back to tell me that asha was gossiping about me to her and her colleague. Reason? Last time I met asha I told her that I wanted my eyebrows a certain way, and she got offended. She spoke in a way I have never been spoken to, and I was being patient and still let her do my eyebrows and I was being polite. Later on she tried to calm the situation and I let her but I was obviously pissed and shocked both. My friend who was with me at the time , asha tried to sway her by complimenting her and explaining to her about me rather than talking to me (I was right there) -this went on for a good ten minutes. Obviously my friend was also trying to be polite and listened and we both were so confused about what is happening ,and we thought this lady was being crazy. Anyway, we forgot about it because shit happens and maybe she was just having a hard day. Cut to today, when my friend went to the salon, I couldn't go with , asha was bitching about me to her colleague saying that "she came with a girl who caused drama about how she wanted her eyebrows and how her mom said that they weren't even" ( lol, most threading places ASK you how you want your eyebrows done rather than saying we just pull out extras) I didn't pay for you to pull out my extras lady. It's been weeks a normal person would've forgotten, or a mature one wouldn't have brought it up to MY FRIEND. Lol. What a weird lady. Needs to grow up for sure. This isn't high school, you're old enough to know better. Also they charge $10 to take out extras. The place is cheap so that's good, but so are the people so do your thing and get out ‍ sometimes they cut you, sometimes they do a good job. Try for farzana if you can- less drama and craziness and better service. Me and my girls are meanwhile looking for other places where you enjoy going. To the Lady- I don't know what message you were trying to convey , but message received. I would like to tell you that I did not mean to offend you but the way you behaved after has put me off forever. All I wanted was to complement you by saying I remembered you, obviously that impression has gone to shit. It's better you ask if there has been a miscommunication before you lash out at people half your age. The bad, service and location. If you can walk to this place it's ideal because parking sucks in the area. WORST eyebrow wax I have ever gotten. EVER! My eyelids are swollen today and very red. I've been putting Vitamin E on my lids constantly in hopes of healing them soon. I have never had so much pain from a wax nor someone so negligent with my face before. She did not prep anything before the wax went on and was slow to soothe the hurt skin after she ripped layers off the lid. I will never be going back there except to ask for my money back. read more

Threading Plus has a bunch of 5-star reviews for a reason. She is awesome! I waited until after the third time that Asha did my eyebrows to write this review--just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. I never should have doubted her or the reviews on Yelp, but what can I say--it's my pessimistic side coming out! I am persnickety about my eyebrows. I have tried many places around the Chicago area and have not gone back to most of them. I had previously been frequenting Sonia Salon in Andersonville, which was convenient because at the time I was working on the north side (Note: even though I was satisfied with my eyebrows at Sonia's, Asha blew me out of the water!) Now that I'm living and working on the south side, that commute is just too far--and Threading Plus is a nice compromise as far as distance. Definitely not a compromise on the quality of her work! I am a perfectionist. So is Asha. She takes her time and will make sure your eyebrows look flawless. She actually asks (imagine that!) how you would like your eyebrows instead of just going to town like many other places I've been to. I have been delighted with how they look each time I walk out. The mini eyebrow massage she gives at the end isn't bad either! Parking is a little tricky around here--I always park in the "permit only" residential area close by. I know I shouldn't, but I don't know where else to park and I'm never in the shop more than 10 minutes. Bottom line: go see her for beautiful eyebrows! read more

I tried Threading Plus out yesterday as my regular place in Rogers Park is closed for renovations. I live in South Loop but I'm very picky about my eyebrows and don't like to try new places. Since they were starting to look out of control I looked on Yelp and found Threading Plus which is a mile from me with excellent reviews. Since I read in the reviews about wait times I called to find out how busy there were hoping there weren't since they'd just opened at 11. A woman told me there wasn't a long wait so I rushed over. There was one person in the chair before me which was great. The woman took her time and trimmed by brows with scissors which I loved ( not many places do that). Overall I had a good experience and my eyebrows look great ( not as good as my normal place but close). They are reasonably priced as well. I will come here again. read more

It's hard to find GREAT INEXPENSIVE threading places in the city! I usually drive all the way to Northriverside mall (and I live near the south loop) to get my brows done! After reading reviews, and in desperate need for my brows to be done, I tried treading plus! They were fairly easy to find, you even have access to their parking lot in the back for 30 min or so as long as you are in the building, AND its only $10 for brow threading! :-) Saves me time and gas! :-) I loved who did my brows (owner i think) she listened to what I liked, and was very meticulous about her work. She even said "i don't like that" and went back to make it the way she liked. When she said she liked it, she said she hoped I'd like it too! When I looked in the mirror to see, I was so amazed and excited. My brows tend to grow thin in some areas and the outer corners grow short, but even then, she made them look full and arched. She moisturized and then massaged my brows and I was good to go! Every now and again I used to get hair bumps in my brows, but I hadn't gotten any this time around! I will continue to give Threading Plus my business! :-) read more

Having just moved to Chicago, I have been on the lookout for an eyebrow threading place and I think I may have found the one.I am really picky about my eyebrows, but these ladies really knew what they were doing. They listened to my instructions, and my eyebrows turned out great. The place is slightly expensive at $10 for eyebrows, but it is worth the quality service. I went in on a Saturday around 4 pm without an appointment and there was absolutely no wait. Overall, a very quick and seamless eyebrow experience. The only thing I didn't like was the location - it was a bit seedy and hard to find. If anyone else has that problem, the entrance is actually on 9th St between Plymouth and State. read more

I have been threading my eyebrows since the past 15 years and I am very particular about it. Heard about this place from a friend and since it was close to home decided to give it a try. Loved the clean minimalistic decor and the fact that they accept walk ins. I had my brows done so well and to my liking that I have been going to them for the past 1.5 years. Asha, Ashi and Farzana are all super sweet women and extremely pleasant to talk to. I have never had to wait for more than 15 minutes. The only reason that I didn't give this five stars is because the wait was a very long. I had to wait about 45 minutes, there were two people ahead of me. One person was in the chair getting their eyebrows done and the next person got a full body threading/waxing so I guess this explains the wait. This is the most even my eyebrows have been since I started threading. She was very precise and when I asked her to do something and she didn't agree, she explained to me the reason why. I will definitely return but will more than likely try to make an appointment or come when they are opening or closing. I stumbled on this place via Yelp, I use to get mine done on Taylor Street but the young lady left and I wasn't satisfied with the other operators in the salon, you know how when you find someone that can do them how you like them, its hard to go to some place else. After growing my eyebrows out since February, looking around for a new place to get them done and reading numerous reviews on Yelp, I just might have a new eyebrow technician. I went here yesterday at 1PM. It was totally empty-perfect. The rundown: The proprietor was very nice-Awesome! She made sure I was comfortable and asked if I was familiar with threading/possible discomfort from the process-I was. I liked the decor-clean, soothing music playing in the background She made sure she had a good understanding of what I had in mind for my eyebrows and stopped throughout to check that she was on track-Awesome! Threading Plus is close by and they service waxing, threading, facials, etc... I decided to try it out because the place had good reviews on Yelp. Since I've heard threading is better than waxing, I decided to go with threading this time around. I arrived when they opened on Saturday at 11am. Two other people were already waiting patiently inside. The two ladies working were very nice, soft spoken, and knew what they were doing. Once I was seated, I told her I just needed my eyebrows threading and away she went-- threading the brows. The woman took her time and trimmed my brows with scissors. Terrible! I had tons of hairs still on my brows once I got home and looked in a magnifying mirror! I saw a few in the regular mirror when she showed me and had her correct, but she didn't most of then and I had to tweeze out what I saw in the magnifying mirror at home. Also, my brows are weirdly shaped now so I have to let them "grow out" to start over. AVOID this place. Bummed since it's in my neighborhood and threading is hard to find. read more

I have my usual spot that I always go to for threading. They didn't open on time and I didn't have time to wait until someone got there. I Yelped to see where another place that was close and I came upon this gem of a place. It is hidden so it took me a bit to find it (it is connected to an Indian restaurant), but it was definitely worth it. I walked right in, the owner introduced herself and went to work on my eyebrows. I have been threading for quite a few years and I am not lying, this was the BEST my eyebrows have looked ever! She got a perfect shape and she listened when I told her that I liked my brows a little more on the thicker side. She took her time and it was definitely worth it! Plus- it is only $10 ($5 cheaper than my usual place!) I would definitely recommend it if you like threading. Ask for the owner, she is amazing! read more

I really wanted to like this place. It had decent decor, and the woman working there was very friendly. The girl getting her brows done before me looked GREAT - I took this as a good sign. This was the first time I had my brows threaded, rather than waxed. I thought it was quite a bit more painful, but this wasn't what really bothered me. What really sucked was when I the woman was done and I looked in the mirror - my eyebrows were DRAMATICALLY thinner than they have ever been. The woman took a lot off the top of them, which I've always read you're not supposed to do.
