This is hands-down the best threading salon I've been to in Chicago. I'm a guy and they are very versed in styling men's eyebrows. I use to get my eyebrows done here for many years. Today, she messed up my eyebrow bad. I almost wanted to go back and ask for my tip back but whatever. I'm just never coming back here again. When I went back to show her that she cut too much of the inside of eyebrow she acted like she didn't do it. My eyebrow did not have that hole beforehand. This is so upsetting because it takes forever for my eyebrows to grow. I've always had eyebrow trust issues now this makes it worst. Don't come here to get your eyebrows done. Having been to this place previous times for a lip wax I went back for a lip and nose wax. The woman who normally does the service was there but asleep in a chair. A younger woman was doing a brow wax and had me wait. The salon was insanely hot as the air was off and it was 85 degrees outside. When it was my service time the lip went smoothly but clearly this woman did not know what she was doing for the nose wax. The stick had so much wax dripping from it that it clearly didn't adhere and dry. The stick was pulled and immediately snapped in half lodging most of the wax in my nose. The woman then proceeded to dig around in my nose, no gloves or hand washing at any point, to try to rip the wax out. After 3 painful failed attempts I had to rip it out of my own nose as both women watched me. She then attempted the other nostril (I never should have let her continue so that's my mistake) and after I told her to to not put so much wax on or go as deep she instead did the same thing and again broke it off inside of my nose! I left there to go home and continue to try to remove the chunks of wax inside of my nose myself. Most of the hair remains along with the wax. She tried to put baby oil in there as if that would help. It didn't. I have since had a nosebleed and still have wax in there. Start to finish a disaster. What was even worse is the woman who had done mine previous, who I think owns the place, sat in the chair watching me fight to free the wax from my nose. At no point did she come over to help or take over. I guess you get what you pay for. The worst waxing experience I've ever had in a dirty, unsanitary environment. Avoid!!!! read more

It's was quick and painless! Enjoyed that I wasn't as irritated as usual, it was a pleasant experience and I plan to return.

I developed painful folliculitis (skin infection) on my upper lip after my eyebrow and upper lip threading. I've had threading of my upper lip area before at another place. I thought I'd try this place closer to home. This was the most painful threading I've ever had. Because of the foliculitis, I needed to take strong antibiotics for a week to address the serious infection that was itchy, burning, and painful. What you see in the photo doesn't capture the condition fully. Before I could start taking the meds, the bumps started to have white dots, which I was told is pus and an additional sign of infection. Whether the infection came from bacteria on my skin, their thread, or their skin, it shouldn't have happened. They should have prepped my skin better (I had washed it that morning BTW) and they should have washed their hands before threading. They also should have gotten out new thread (I realized afterwards that I didn't see them get new thread out). I was in a rush and hadn't realized the risks with threading, so I didn't think to ask about these things. My lip still hurts a bit even though my medicine has run it's course and it's been a week. Also, my lip still isn't smooth as it had been before getting the threading. read more

Not a long wait time and it was fairly quick and painless. They do a good job of taking your face structure and forming the brows from that.

WARNING If you have thicker eyebrow hair this place will gouge out your follicles. I've given this place 2 tries because it's less than a 5min walk from my apartment and both times I have been disappointed in their work. They really dig into your follicles with the thread if they haven't gotten them out in the first try. My suggestion to them would be, if you are having a tough time with a couple hairs, pull out the tweezers. I won't judge, just don't leave my eyebrows a bloody mess when I wake up the next morning. It's extremely embarrassing going to work the next day looking like you've been mauled by a cat. read more

Don't go for henna or brow tinting! I asked for medium brown brow tint and it came out jet black. When I asked if they used a natural henna for the tint the staff assured me it was a natural product but my skin is still stinging the next day. I also picked out a henna design and made the mistake of assuming it was real henna but they were using the cheap imported cones that contain other dyes. The design was immediately dark red and my hand stings. When I googled if henna stings I found a ton of warnings about these products causing pain and even blistering and permanent damage. I had only thought that was a risk with "black henna" but I was wrong. The design is beautiful but now all I can do is hope the reaction doesn't get worse and cause scarring. read more

Ok. I dont normally write reviews but i need to write this one. I created a yelp account just to write this review. I am a male and i went to this Salon before my marriage to clean up my eyebrows. The people here are extremely nice and they did an excellent job on my eyebrows. It was very natural and i was very happy. Couldn't have asked for a better service. My wife came from india and she is a pro when it comes to getting waxing and threading done. We were going on vacation with family and she got her arms waxed, and her face threaded over here. They did an exceptional job on threading, but BURNT her hands. It wasn't very noticeable at the beginning but by day 2, her hands had severe burn marks. I know it wasnt intentional, but it ruined our vacation and the scars wont probably go away for a while. Please note that Pratima was upset too. She called the staff and showed the marks. She will probably train them to not have this happen again. But I am not happy at all. My wife didnt have to be the guinea pig. I would never take my wife for waxing over here. They might be good with threading, but i wont trust them with waxing. I am extremely upset that my wife has to go through this. If you do go, i would recommend Pratima since she seems to be the most experienced and seems to know what she is doing. This is my experience only. read more

I've been here a couple of times and the service has been inconsistent. The first time I had my eyebrows threaded, the woman was very gentle and precise, and I was very happy with the outcome. The second time I came here, it was pretty busy, but they were still able to take me right away. I'm not sure if it was because there were a bunch of people waiting, but I felt rushed. I had my eyebrows and upper lip threaded and the woman threading was really rough. She pushed my head around multiple times as if my head was a dummy or mannequin. My skin was extremely irritated after my session with her, and the next day, I noticed skin abrasions on my eye lid. My skin was inflamed for three days. I probably won't be coming back unless I can see another woman. Unfortunately I didn't catch her name. Hopefully I can recognize her and choose to see someone else if I ever go back. read more

I come here once a month, and have been doing so for over a year. My previous eyebrow care was at Benefit Brow Bar at the Ulta at Clark and Wellington. I've been there maybe two times so I cannot speak as much for that place. However, Lakeview Threading is amazing! That's actually an understatement. I've seen (all?) three woman there for eyebrow threading and have NOT left disappointed. I almost wish there was one bad thing about their service, so I could say it isn't perfect, but I've accepted it. It's heaven there. My background: I'm fair skinned, with sensitive skin at that. And some of my eyebrow hairs are actually white! It makes it very difficult to shape/fill in my eyebrows, but once I found a product light enough for my skin tone, and found a place that COMPLETELY RESHAPES YOUR BROWS INTO SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL, I realized that it's a golden combination. On top of that, one of my eyebrows is naturally darker than the other one. I tell the women that before they start threading and I also say I prefer a bigger brow, and that's exactly what I leave with. THREADING DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE! I'm not nagging other places, but threading reforms your eyebrow hair and puts them back into shape. Then you can comb them with a spooley, and the hair will grow in that direction. What they do here is an art. Seriously. If you're taking the time to read my review this far, and you've got these blobs of hair above your eyes that don't look like anything, go there. Now. Pratima has been doing my eyebrows over a decade. Back in 2011, I had thin eyebrows that were way over plucked. I came across the salon and decided to walk in to see if she could somehow shape them and after that first try, I was hooked. I have been going to her almost every other week ever since. This place is so fantastic! I have been going to the same eyebrow tech for the past 15 years and have NEVER cheated on her. But the commute after so many years has become difficult and decided it was time to try somewhere new. After tons of research, I decided this was the place I was going to take a chance (eeek!). I am so happy I gave this place a chance. They did such a wonderful job and eased my anxiety the whole time by walking me through what they were going to do and why. Pratima has been doing my eyebrows for over 10 years. 10. Freakin. Years. I was afraid to get them waxed because they are just so thick. Then one day I stumbled upon her yelp page when she was located on Belmont by Lake Shore Drive and she had rave reviews. I never heard of threading before this but it seemed like the best thing to do for these beasts. I have very thick and complicated eyebrows. They get a bit wild if I don't get them threaded every 3 weeks (like they currently are, whoops!) She never takes too much off and will take as long as it takes to get that last pesky hair till your eyebrows are perfect. They have many other services but threading is the only one I get. I specifically asked to keep my eyebrows thick including the thin hairs on the top of my point. I showed the lady in the mirror BEFORE she started, she said she understood. She shows me her finished worked and ALL the hair I asked to keep is gone! She did the OPPOSITE of what I asked. I should start out by saying that this review is for their bikini waxing services, and not the eyebrow threading, which I've heard is quite lovely. Unfortunately, I absolutely cannot say the same for their waxing. I should also say that I'm not new at bikini waxing; I've been getting Brazilians regularly for the past 6 years, so this was NOT my first day at the rodeo. I usually do hard wax but I've had good soft waxes as well, and I'm not opposed to the technique. I actually got a wax here about a month ago, but I've been suffering from so much ptwd (post traumatic wax disorder) that I couldn't bring myself to write the review and thus re-live the horrific experience. This was hands down the worst wax I've ever had in my entire life. The technician clearly had no idea what she was doing, was not quick or efficient at all, and took close to 40 minutes to do 70% of a brazilian. Then, she decided to give up with the strips and wax and seriously started THREADING MY NETHER REGIONS. THREADING THEM. I'm not even kidding. If you imagine that this must necessarily be the most painful thing anyone could inflict on a person, then you'd be correct. At that point, I just said "NO. I'm done." and ended the session before it was done, because IT WAS THAT PAINFUL. I then had horrible ingrowns for two weeks afterwards, crazy worse than I normally do. I will never be back. It's a shame, because I hear their eyebrow threading is great, but I just can't bring myself to go in there for fear of serious bodily harm. Ladies, for the sake of your beautiful lady flower, never, ever, never never get a bikini wax here. Ever.
