I found Brazz through KGB deals and couldn't pass up a great deal for a no-chip manicure. I should have passed up the deal.
At the start of the manicure Adriana (owner/service provider) seemed upset that I had my previous no-chip manicure still applied. She, at length, explained how I only booked a service for a no-chip manicure and not a "take off" and that I should have mentioned that. She also went on to explain how it inconveniences her other customers because they have set appointment times. After being lambasted I apologized and asked what could be done. She said I had to pay $8 extra. I told her I was fine with that if she could squeeze me in. She agreed. Ironically, during the manicure she offered different waxing options which she apparently had time to do. If she was worried about the $8 she could have just said it would be an additional fee instead of making me feel like a naughty school child.
The manicure was EXTREMELY painful...more painful than any other manicure I have ever had. I thought, "well, maybe that's just the feel of a job well done." I should have said something because what I didn't realize was that she was clipping chunks, yes chunks, of my cuticles off. Because of the close quarters of the facility (only room for one person at a time) and the bizarre exchange at the beginning of the appt. I kept my mouth shut (silly me). Despite all of this I gave her a VERY generous tip for accommodating my "take off." I wish I could go back in time and snatch the cash back out of her hands! Unfortunately, after leaving I gave my fiance a hug and noticed a mark on his jacket. It was blood. By the time I got home 8/10 fingers & thumbs were bleeding! To add insult to injury (both figuratively and literally!) less than a week later my manicure was chipping off!!
I sent an email to Adriana and included pictures of both the chipping manicure and the healing cuticle wounds. She called me a short while later and was extremely rude. She brought up how I only paid half (since I got a "voucher") and went on and on about her other clients. Because she raised her voice and was talking so fast (she also has a very heavy accent) I had a difficult time making out some of what she was saying/yelling, but in a nutshell she blamed it on everything from "the oil" to my own care of my nails to something about having another manicure put on right away? Huh? I was totally caught off guard by her response and behavior. Instead of apologizing or offering to make things right she wrote me off because I used "a voucher." I even told her this and she started to raise her voice again and told me good luck with getting a refund through KGB. I eventually had to hang up because she would not let me speak and the whole "yelling at the customer for calling out a bad manicure" was getting pretty old.
With only 1 other review on Yelp I am wondering if she is fairly new. Treating your customers like naughty 7 year olds is not the way to build a customer base. Just wanted to make everyone aware, especially with the number of promotions out there!
PS - I DESPISE when businesses that customers with promotional certificates differently than their other customers. Don't do the deal if you're going to have an issue with honoring it.
Ok, I'll step down from my soap box now.... read more
