We came for a relaxing girl's day - complete with massages and lunch. Our massages were at 9:15, we arrived at 9 (as instructed) and felt very rushed. Our check-in and arrival felt chaotic and stressful which was opposite of how we wanted to feel starting our serene day. So, I would recommend arriving more than 15 minutes early. Once we had our massages, we felt brand new. We all had a great massage. We then spent the rest of the day exploring the saunas, steam rooms, and various pools. Our favorite experience was the artisan aufguss at the logga. I highly recommend attending a session at the logga, it was amazing. We were able to get fresh towels and robes all day at the guest services counter. It also looked like you could book additional services at the guest counter if you wanted to add on to your day. Several people I talked with at the spa recommended I try the Kalla next time I visit. We ate lunch at La Resto - the food was good and the interior was cozy and made for a great spot to relax and talk. Overall, we had a full day of relaxing and I would immediately do it again. read more

We came here on a weekend, got here early enough that it was as busy, the facilities are large & phone free. Plenty of parking available. You are provided a wrist band that gets you access to your locker (has a robe & towel). This can be done on your own with staff assistance. There are several hot tubs, relaxing room, hammocks (my favourite part) swings &, fire place, sauna, cold plunges. There are communal activities taking place throughout the day. Food: A couple restaurants on site, found them to be overpriced but that's the only food available on premises so if you are hungry, it's your best option. We were there several hours so naturally we did get hungry. Massage: Once it's your massage time, you head to the 2nd floor where you have access to water and tea until it's your massage time. The massage itself wasn't anything to rave about. It felt all over the place, one second one leg next arm and back to leg and all of a sudden shoulder. It was just a little confusing. Facilities: I found the bathrooms & showers needed tending to, there was hair in the showers. Overall, You can easily relax and spend several hours here. On Friday April 24th we visited Thermea Spa Village in Whitby Ontario. As is common practice in these types of business we each had to leave a $150 deposit via credit card on entry with any left over monies to be refunded on exit. When we were attempting to pay for a "meal" at the restaurant by way of scanning our wrist bracelet, we were informed that the "system" was down and we could get it straightened out at the front desk. At the desk we were told they could do nothing at this time as the "system" was not working. We were assured the billing would be completed and a receipt would be forwarded to us via email "tomorrow". We waited a few days then had to contact Thermea by phone looking for the promised receipt. After several calls we finally got the illusive receipt today April 27 only to see an absolutely ridiculous compulsory 18% gratuity tacked onto our meal bill. We had two taco orders ($21 each) and one fountain drink ($4) and were being forced to give over $9 as a tip. This was not a gourmet meal in a fancy restaurant. The taco orders came in cardboard boxes. Thermea is already making a massive profit from these taco orders at the pretentious price of $21 each. read more

This outdoor spa really makes you feel like you've left Ontario completely. Everything from the decor to the amenities was so well thought out and intentional. You can tell they put a lot of care into creating a relaxing experience. When you arrive, you can either sign in on your own or get help from someone, which I loved because it gave me the option to do everything solo if I wanted to. The sign-in process was super quick and easy. You get a wristband that unlocks your locker (in the locker you will find your towel and robe which can be changed or a new one) and can be used to pay for food and drinks, which made everything so convenient. Inside, there are lots of large individual change rooms with mirrors, spacious washroom stalls, and private shower rooms. They even have an area where you can do your hair, with straighteners and hair dryers, They even had Q-tips, and plastic bags for your wet bathing suits. Honestly, they really thought of everything! One of the best parts was the unlimited towel and robe exchange. It sounds small, but having a warm, dry towel or robe to change into especially in the cold was just so nice. I definitely recommend going right when they open so you can soak in the calm and quiet. Even when it got a bit busier around 5pm, it still didn't feel crowded. There was always somewhere peaceful to go. The rituals are also a must-try! It was such a cool (or should I say, hot), immersive experience that really pushes you out of your comfort zone. I'd suggest starting on the lower level though--the top level is super hot and intense. Something that stood out to me was how often they tested the pool water. It made me feel super safe knowing they're on top of keeping everything clean and maintained. Also, this place is phone-free, which I actually loved. It felt so good to unplug and just be present. Most people respected the rule, and even when we saw a phone here or there, it didn't ruin the peaceful vibe at all. The only thing I'll say is the food and drinks are pricey. But honestly? Worth it. The Burrata and the Mushroom Flatbread were so good! I highly encourage you to try! Overall, this place is a winter must. The staff are kind and respectful, and they let you do your own thing, which really added to the relaxing vibe. Two tips: bring your own towel to sit on, and bring a good book! Took my gf here to relax and decompress before her new job (and also to celebrate our 3 yr anniversary). When you arrive, you notice how quiet everything naturally becomes. I was reading a lot of these reviews religiously and everyone seemed to be commenting on how you could hear noise from the main roads. I didn't find this to be true. Couldn't hear the roads at all. Seemed to be pretty noise-resistant to me. There's quite a few staff to help you out when you enter the spa. You check in with QR codes and then activate personal wristbands (which is pretty standard I'm finding across a lot of spas these days). You access the spa village from the basement which is pretty cool. Before you go outdoors, there's a desk w/ more staff who can answer questions, manage appointments and provide as many extra towels as you need. Every guest gets their own locker. My gf and I each brought our own reusable water bottles (they have refillable water stations for constant hydration). The spa itself is large. You can find yourself falling asleep pretty fast in some of the therapy rooms or dry saunas haha. There's multiple pools (each w/ diff temps dialed in). It was a 30-35 C day so the pool near the back of the village w/ the artificial waterfall was perfect as it was slightly cold. I do wish the jets were much stronger in all the pools though. They were kinda weak tbh. The changerooms are quite private and very clean. The shower spaces have a dressing "cubby/area" built into each stall which is really convenient as you can hang your clothes/towels and not worry about walking wet all over the place. Food and beverage on site is prolly the one thing I would award low stars though. Theres 3 food and drink establishments on site and they are all super spacious/comfy but the food and drink is WAYYYY overpriced. Like way beyond current inflation overpriced. 2 extremely, mini sliders and a mocktail setting me back $30+ (because they slap on auto-gratuity), JESUS. Even though the slider patties were crisped perfectly, the prices are just hard to swallow. What are you guys, Shake Shack (and I don't even get fries LOL)? Spa rules also don't permit patrons to leave the premise w/ their wristband to go out and eat before beeping back in at the turnstiles later which essentially forces patrons to buy refreshment on premise. I highly dislike this inflexibility but I GET it, although ... if you're gonna force patrons to get concessions on premise, can you at least make the menu items cheaper and/or the portion sizes larger? General admission is already quite up there ya know? I'm still awarding 5 stars overall cuz my gf and I had a great time. Spent the whole day here basically and she was super relaxed. Returning the bathrobe and used towels is a breeze as there are wall holes everywhere you can toss em in. Returning the wristband is also ez. Would return! Idk if management will read this but if you keep the food and drink the same price, maybe make the portion sizes larger to justify the $$ tag? read more

I had a great experience here! I put cleanliness as top priority and this scored 5/5. The showers and showers are clean. Change rooms are spacious . It's also handicapped friendly. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash is available. You will need to bring your own slippers. There's fruit infused water available. We ate at the restaurant and the food was actually decent and not overpriced. Service was great. My salad was overdressed and they were happy to remake it for me. I recommend Thermea over Vetta for its cleanliness. Service is also friendlier. One downside is their online booking system. I wish it was easier check the availability prior to filling out everyone's information. Lots of parking available and ev charging is available as well. read more

It's very strange to find a Scandinavian style spa in the middle of a suburb, but here it is. They do a pretty good job creating an isolated experience so you can forget you're surrounded by townhouses. Thermea is an adult-only day spa that provides saunas, steam rooms, and pools for the ultimate relaxation. While they are not the biggest or most luxurious, I love that they have scheduled events throughout the day that makes it feel like there's always something to do. The events are basically special guided sauna sessions or yoga sessions that come with admission. On top of that, I also enjoyed the salt scrub shower and the toasty campfire areas. The food was quite good. It definitely gives high-end cafe vibes. We had the Charcuterie board, mushroom flatbread, and churros and they all hit the spot. We went on a weekday afternoon and even though it was busy, we luckily didn't have to wait to secure a seat in the lounging area. The facilities are nice and clean, and you're given a towel and bathrobe that you can exchange for new ones as frequently as you'd like. The staff were friendly and overall, it was a soothing experience. If you don't pay attention to the condo roof peeking out the edge of the spa, you can even pretend you're not in Whitby anymore. read more

I booked a Vivifying body treatment, according to the Thermea website it includes an application of Thermal Mud to your body. I did not at anytime receive an application of Thermal Mud. The service I received was a very light aroma therapy massage for $167. It wasn't even good! I could have received a better one at any local nail salon. How is it possible that you book a specific service and receive something completely cheap and not what you booked? I have proof in the attached photos that all they did was apply a few serums, scrubs & moisturizers. I do that everyday during my daily skin care routine. read more

Really enjoyed my time at Thermea! Check-in was fast and easy, they send you a QR code the night before, all you have to do when you arrive is scan the code at one of the computers and get your wrist band. There is also a lot of free parking at the spa. The Changing rooms, showers and washrooms were clean and spacious. Loved how there were many different types or saunas with different temperatures. Theres also a lot of cold plunges and relaxing spaces. I recommend the hammocks! Only thing I wish was that their hot tubs were hotter and bigger, since it's always filled with lots of people. There is also unlimited towel and robe change, as well as every hour there is a ritual being done in the biggest sauna they have. They also have a lot of food and drinks options at their lounge/ restaurant area but every dish was very bland and lacks salt and pepper. A nice place to relax close to the city. I bought access to the thermal experience ($110/person). It included access to 2 main hot pools, cold pools, lots of saunas and 2 steam rooms. Most of the hot experience were just different types of saunas. The thing that stands out here are their rituals which basically is a scented sauna experience which was quite interesting. Gives you something to look forward to every hour. We ended up spending about 6 hours here. We booked ahead online and it was a pretty smooth easy process. When we first checked 2 days before most of the time slots were already booked out. But when we went in again the next day, suddenly there were much more times. It's strange that they had them all blocked out earlier. I would recommend checking back in if you don't see a time you like. After you pay you get a QR code which you can self register upon arrival which was quick and easy. In comparison to some of the other ones I've been to, I would say that this one was much busier. It was does not have a warm pool in the quiet area, so if you do get a spot, the warm pools are quite loud. The saunas are quite full and have a small entrance, so sometimes there was a bit of a wait to get it due to the volume of people. We stayed here for lunch and opted to eat at the biergarden. The food was decent, the tacos had a nice sauce and the pretzel dipping sauce was interesting, but I would probably eat first next time before I come, as it was expensive and portions were small. They also auto charge you 18% gratuities on your purchase. The staff that we have encountered here were all very pleasant. They had accommodated our request to switch lockers to be closer (locker area is a common area - mixed genders) and exchange towels when they got too wet. I just spent my second birthday in a row at Thermea because my first experience there was wonderful. Both years my boyfriend surprised me with massages, and I will say that both massages themselves were relaxing and technically well done. However, this year's experience felt very different. My RMT came across as quite cold and slightly rude. I felt as though I was bothering them by speaking or asking questions. As a healthcare professional, I believe it's important to communicate with care and kindness, especially when discussing someone's health concerns. I'm currently dealing with swollen lymph nodes, and when my boyfriend filled out the intake form (since this was a birthday surprise), he mentioned that and asked about lymphatic drainage. Right at the start of the appointment, the RMT said there were "concerns" with things on my form. The tone felt cold rather than genuinely caring, which immediately threw me off and made me uncomfortable. They then referenced the request for lymphatic drainage and said, "We don't do that here -- you have to go to someone specific for that," without offering any alternative suggestions to help relieve pain or pressure in those areas. I felt embarrassed and awkward. I then suggested focusing on opening up my chest, as I have a very tight chest and rounded shoulders due to scoliosis. The response was, "If you'd like that, there's a form you need to sign for liability reasons," again delivered in a way that made me feel like I was being difficult. I agreed to sign whatever was needed because I just wanted to move forward and relax. In the end, I was never given a form to sign, and no chest work was done. While the massage itself was done well, the overall interaction left me feeling uncomfortable and disappointed, and it unfortunately tainted what was meant to be a special birthday experience. read more

Such a relaxing experience! It's my favourite spa in Ontario so far - beating Vetta and Blue Mountain's Scandinavian Spa. You must book an appointment and pay (even for general admission) but it's very easy to do online. If you have a gift certificate, you also redeem it online and pay any remaining balance, if any. I went on a Tuesday and was able to book the day of. Once you check in at the spa, you're given a locker number. I got a locker in the common area. I'm not sure if you can request to have one inside the male/female washroom and shower area, but I was fine with it. They did have change rooms that lock in the common area so it wasn't an issue for me. The spa has a good number of hot/cold/relaxation areas. It's bigger than Vetta and Blue Mountain's Scandanavian Spa. The Spa Village is supposed to be a quiet zone, but it wasn't always quiet and some groups were quite loud. I spent almost the whole day here and was able to get through all the stations at least once without feeling bored. I didn't even need to book additional services like massage. The kalla treatment was unavailable when I went as it was closed for aesthetic upgrades. The steam rooms were my favourite. There are only two and one was frequently in use for their Rhassoul treatment (additional) so we only got to use that steam room once - even though it was my preferred one! I had the jerk chicken sandwich, which comes with a soup or salad and the burger which comes with sweet potato fries. Both were good, but pricey for what it was. I will say that the jerk chicken sandwich had a good amount of chicken. Overall, I wish the menus had more options for food as they were limited. I've been to their spa Nordik in Chelsea, and this is much smaller. However, it still is the best one in Ontario IMO and hoping they will keep expanding! Visited Thermea yesterday for a post Valentine's Day date with my boyfriend. We got there just before our scheduled time of 11:30am and stayed until just after 9pm. We had the best time doing the thermal cycles and the vibe was enhanced by the snowfall throughout the day. I found that the rest areas were fewer as it was cold, and we mainly did our rest cycle in one of the 2 rest pools as the 2 rest cabin areas were always full. All the food we had was good, apart from dinner where we had the beef strip loin and it had a lot of fat and was cold. All the other food we had was fantastic and all the servers we had were so kind. We participated in 3 different sauna rituals and all 3 were different: different essential oils, different music and different instructors. I absolutely loved them and loved how hot it got during the rituals. We were able to trade our towels and robes as many times as we wanted which was great as it was very cold so a nice dry towel was appreciated. I definitely want to come back here in different seasons and try different treatments as well. read more

What an amazing day! I was pleasantly surprised how seamless and amazing the facilities are here at Thermea! We reserved an early morning check in at 8:15am and the place was very relaxing! We enjoyed a few hot, cold plunge, rest cycles before it really started to get busy with people around 11:30am. What was nice was there were many guided meditation and sauna rituals that happened by the hour which was very enjoyable and added to our amazing experience. The restaurant... wow! The service was amazing. The food was amazing and reasonably priced! The striploin was $36 and featured pasta was $28. The food was AMAZING. I typically expect spas to have very basic taste and options but this restaurant was definitely one of the best I've had in the area! I wish I could eat here without a spa reservation. Just a note that 18% gratuity is automatically added for any of their food service but is very much well deserved! The spa does get pretty noisy as many big groups in Toronto come and silent areas don't remain as silent as we wish. In some other spas, employees would typically monitor loud noises and remind people to lower their tone but are much more lenient here. Good for groups but not that great for solo/duo trips where you want to relax or read a book in silence. There's a women's washroom with separate change rooms and showers but lockers are also in the mixed area that also have change rooms. But if same gendered keeps you more comfortable, it's right beside - just won't have access to your locker directly within. Not a huge deal and perfect for couples or a mixed group. You can change your towel and robe as many times as you want through out your stay. This was really handy as they get wet often after the cycles and it's hard to rest and stay in them wet, especially in the cold! We really appreciated that service. This spa overall had everything I wanted and need in a day where I want to relax and reset. The location is definitely very convenient, will definitely be coming back! read more

Thermea spa in Whitby, ON was a top notch experience! After a week of high intensity work in Toronto, spending a day at Thermea Spa was just what I needed before I hit the road back home to New Jersey. I started off my experience with a 'village ritual' called an Aufguss, offered by Andrea, who created such a sacred, ritualistic space that was wonderful. I sat on the top tier of seats and the heat that made it up my way was very intense, but Andrea's skillful offering of the Aufguss allowed me to relax into a meditative space that allowed my body to receive the heat that it needed after my very long week. The many saunas that were available, were wonderful! Himalayan salt, herbal saunas and traditional ones allowed me to find one that suited my needs. I really like that the spa emphasized heat, cold, relax-- repeat! My most favorite experience was the Kalla 'saltwater pool reminiscent of the Dead Sea'. You pay $50 extra for this experience, but I highly recommend it, especially if your nervous system needs that extra boost of RELAX. The weightlessness was amazing- I really loved that you could hear music under water while floating. OR you could get ear plugs and hear nothing! One thing I didn't see until I got out of the water, was the little tubes of vaseline they offered for little knicks from shaving that will sting if you don't put it on. I was back in Ontario, Canada visiting my family, and my sweet cousin was so generous and treated me to blessed day at Thermeä. I've been to many beautiful indoor/outdoor spas in southern California, but in my humble opinion, this spa village was next level in my wellness experience so far! From the moment we walked onto the beautifully manicured and lush property, you can hear the tranquil relaxing music. Once inside, we were greeted with friendly smiles and helpful staff who directed us where to go throughout the day (always plus points!). I was impressed with the efficiency of the check-in process. There are many self- explanatory touch screens to check-in, as well as, to scan your wrist band to activate your locker. No need for a locker key to dangle from your wrist on a stretchy old-school looking telephone cord wrist band...LOL! Just tap it against the red light to open your locker...genius! The washrooms/shower/locker room are super clean. They place a robe and two towels inside the locker, and the showers have eucalyptus scented shampoo/conditioner/liquid soap. Just bring flip flops or sandals to walk around the village. There are cucumber-mint infused water stations, as well was, a regular water station to fill up your own waterbottle (no glass bottles allowed). It's always a good thing to stay hudrated, especially during the summer months. We thoroughly enjoyed all the variety of saunas and steam rooms, as well as, the hot and cold plunge, which we muscled through numerous times! The 15-minute mediation session inside Loggä was a liberating experience, a must try! All in all, we had an unforgettable experience at Thermeä. 7-hours just flew by...LOL! Went on a cloudy day during the summer. It had rained on and off. The temperature was cool but with the heated pools, saunas and cauldron area for relaxation, we stayed warm. Arrived early to make use of the grounds. Upon arrival you are provided with a locker for the day to put your belongings in and given a waterproof RFID bracelet to access services and purchase goods. In the morning, since not many people were there, steam rooms were more accessible, as well as the Kalla float pool. By noon, the spa began to fill up fast. I spent a good chunk of the day floating since I suffer from a few ailments. There was a noticeable difference in my sleep upon returning home. Felt lighter and more relaxed as the tension in my body had melted away. What's interesting about Kalla is once you are floating, you enter another dimension because you're put into a deep state of relaxation. A lot of people end up colliding as a result. It's kind of funny. No one gets mad. The music helps tune each other out. The friend I went with had a body massage and said it put them to sleep. They were surprised to learn that the foot massage also included a pedicure and said they really enjoyed both. I booked myself a Rhassoul clay treatment that took place in the eucalyptus steam room, which I greatly enjoyed. There were 6 people in the room, performing a self-directed massage on their face and body. We exfoliated our skin, allowing the steam to penetrate our pores and after cleansing, given oils to moisturize with. The products given, combined with the steam room smelled divine. All in all, very relaxing. At the end, we were given hot tea and Turkish delight to enjoy. I recommend coming in early to make use of this particular steam room since it is the hottest and cannot be accessed once bookings for Rhassoul are made. The treatment lasts for half an hour per session and goes by quick. Would be great to extend it for a little longer to enjoy its effects. Arrive earlier to maximize on facility usage as certain areas are less busy; ie. Kalla, hot pools and steam rooms. Around 11am the place became increasingly busier. The facility is very clean and well maintained. There are staff on site collecting garbage, exchanging towels, mopping the floors, doing repairs and catering to the needs of clients and ensuring their overall satisfaction. Other services on the property include: the cold plunge pools, hammocks, rest areas, mildly hot saunas plus the communal sauna where rituals are performed and can be incredibly hot and suffocating. If you leave during a ritual you are not allowed back in. They are timed. There is also a calming guided meditation area worth checking out. The guided meditation and sauna ritual run at certain hours throughout the day. The day we went, construction was happening which took away from the relaxing vibe in one of the heated pools nearest to the man made lake. The noise level was loud enough to be distracting and some individuals did complain. Unless you spend all day in the pool, noise is easy to overlook. Recieved excellent service all around. Staff are friendly, gracious and helpful. They ensured guests were comfortable at all times. Three restaurants on site with different offerings, two with limited options. Would be great to be seated anywhere and allowed to order from all three restaurants simultaneously instead of eating at one and then the other. Menu changes up frequently from what I saw and was told. Few favourite items kept, like grilled cheese which was delicious. There are menu restrictions like not being able to order a side outside of mains and their offerings, not being able to choose between white bread and whole wheat, etc. They do accomodate people with dietary restrictions though. Went here to relax after a couple of stressful weeks and it didn't disappoint. From your arrival you feel transported to a small village dedicated to your relaxation, the staff is nice and knowledgeable about all the treatments and services offered. You get a locker to put your clothes in and a bathrobe to walk in between treatments. The day was kinda chilly but the bathrobe made all the difference . The treatments itself were amazing, lots of pools with different temperatures to choose from, several dry saunas with varied treatment approaches , a couple of wet saunas, hammocks to relax in between etc. The restaurants have options for everybody, but they did get a bit crowded at lunch time. The best part about this experience is that you are not rushed from one treatment to the next, there is no schedule and you can do things in the order and the amount of time you please. It was complete bliss Only complaint was that the floating pool was closed, but I'll be coming back for that. read more

My only complaint in the summer is that there's really no in-between pool temperature. (I know I know, it's supposed to be hot and cold and rest) but on a 35°C day, I don't want to be in a 39° or 40° pool, and you can only spend so much time in a 10° or 21° pool! I've lost count of how many times i've been here. I've been here during colder months when there's snow, and warmer months when the hammocks and outdoor loungers are all set up. It is truly a wonderful relaxing space. There are a few different saunas (some with various themes), two steam rooms with different aromas, and pools at various temperatures to invigorate and rejuvenate the body. During the warmer months, there are hammocks towards the back of the spa area for people to quietly relax and enjoy being outdoors. During the colder months they offer blankets if you wish to sit outside for longer periods of time. There are also fire pits that are maintained regularly so that guests may enjoy the crackling sounds and warmth of the roaring fires. The staff are wonderful! From the moment you walk into the registration area, to the people attending the change room areas, to the staff who perform various rituals in the steam rooms or saunas, everyone seems to really enjoy being there. There are three different places you can get food and beverages. The food is delicious and the seating areas are very comfortable. The only thing I would change would be variations in their menu based on the seasons. I love that you can stay as long as you want once you're in. There is no time limit and no one will kick you out unless you're there past closing. A truly wonderful oasis not far from the city. I can't wait to go again! read more

Amazing place! Relaxation and tranquility! Many different kinds of saunas and of course hot and cold pools. With waterfalls as well. The restaurants are good and the food was really good. They had gluten free options. We had the shrimp pasta special $28 with capers, and whole bunch of other stuff, not too much sauce, just the right amount. I would order it again. Employees are friendly and greet you with a smile. If you are looking for coffee (hot stuff) it is on the main level as the pools, the Lounge and LeResto. Of course expensive $5 for a coffee however there are refills!! The check in process was fast and painless. You have a wrist band to charge items to the credit card you use at check in. I was so impressed how easy it was to purchase our booking, check in, find our lockers and access the facilities here. I went to Strøm in Quebec a few months ago and I was so impressed with Thermëa in comparison. Very clean, friendly staff explaining the locations and helping answer our questions. I saw in a past post from when they opened that they didn't have lotions or q-tips available and I'm happy to report they do now (well in the women's changing rooms at least). We went on a Friday and there were a lot of people there. We were there on a day pass from the morning until the afternoon and it was busy at all times but it was definitely more peaceful and quieter in the morning. Remember to bring a water bottle for yourself, a bag for your wet clothes to take home, and your own clean flip flops. (We stopped at dollarama on our way there to help us with this checklist). We weren't really impressed with the selection at the beer garden but the restaurant had a bit more and was so good. Felt the prices were okay for what you got but I will say $10 for a 4oz piece of marinated chicken is a bit steep. My piece was very dry but my chefs special pasta dish was delicious. I read before that you shouldn't keep anything of value in your robe pockets and I'm glad I didn't because my robe was taken (by mistake I'm sure) and the staff was so helpful to provide me with a new one. Spent my birthday here last week (October) + it was good to finally get in and enjoy the spa. I was gifted a gift certificate a couple of Christmas ago, but due to delays during covid wasn't able to use (until now). The check in process was quick and seamless using the QR codes and I enjoy the bracelet method so that you can leave everything (of value at home) in your locker without worry. The staff were very friendly and welcoming + showed us around before our first treatments. I was initially surprised that the locker areas were mixed, men and women, and wished I had known that sooner. Although there are private change room areas, washrooms and showers, it definitely felt weird turning down my locker area with men sitting there - definitely caught off guard. The facilities were beautiful + the outdoor areas (pools, saunas and fire pits) felt very secluded and out of the city which was perfect. The Kalla area was one of our favourite parts (it was complimentary due to the waiting for the facility to open). I'm not sure it's worth the extra fees had we paid for that despite it being a great experience (felt overpriced). Everything felt clean, pools could be marked or explained better up front (start with hot? Cold? Etc) Several saunas were packed which was unfortunate but we discovered a large one near the guests services while we were heading out and it was incredible. Great view, cool experience seeing the water from the waterfall scooped onto the rocks, hot and completely empty. We booked massages and facials and both were incredible! Highly recommend the customized facial. We stopped at the beer garden for a few snacks and drinks -- drinks were pretty (but average). The warm pretzel was delicious + please skip the charcuterie board (few salami slices, cubed wine cheese, and a few slices of very stale baguette) very underwhelming. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here -- and having spent previous birthdays at St. Anne's, and Pillar and Post (in Niagara), Thermeas only real leg up was proximity to Toronto. Nice Nordic spa, though the location is not ideal. It took us over 1h to get there and over 1.5hrs to get back. Was it worth it? Not sure. First about positives: the saunas are really nice, we especially liked the design of Himalayan salt sauna (brilliant idea!). The so called "rituals" are very nice, though it was hard to get to the "vennik" one, we couldn't get there first time. Nice pools. The staff is very pleasant and friendly. The spa is a technology marvel, everything is hi-tech and everything works perfectly well, from check-in to locking/unlocking your lockers with the bracelet to paying at the restaurant. What we didn't like (1) We paid $60 each extra for the salt underground pool and had to wait on the staircase for 30 min to get admitted (we were told it's at capacity but when we finally got in there were less than 10 people floating there), (2) the relaxation hut doesn't have enough capacity (when we were there people were lying on the floor because there was not enough chairs), (3) steam room was overcrowded. Just to make it clear, it was a mid-day on Tuesday, I cannot even imagine how crowded this space on weekends. Will we come there again? Not sure. read more

Purchased tickets in person for my birthday for myself and daughter. My fiance at the time took the money for my daughter and put everything on a credit card. he was told there needed to be a card on file. I received the tickets and added a restaurant voucher as well. They are non refundable. I phoned to book our experience and was told they were cancelled. This company has received so much money from myself since it opened including family days and was quite appalled. With the monies brought in and the new Thermea planned for Ontario Place I am quite surprised they would lose a long time customer for a gentleman who had them reissued to gift to someone else. I have nothing to say about this spa that would be positive and being a business owner I am surprised in this behaviour and not great with customer relations and service. I've been to Thermea Whitby a couple of times since opening; back in October and in January. Having been there in the fall, and winter, the experiences were a bit different, but very good overall. However, I do think there's room for improvement. During both visits, I found the indoor and outdoor facilities to be well maintained and clean. I saw staff members testing water in the pools, tending to the firepits, and assisting guests throughout. The temperatures of the pools, saunas and steam rooms were consistent. The Logga ritual (free) was relaxing and felt like a guided mindful meditation paired with aromatherapy. I did not have any experience with the Kalla pool, but the spa seemed to have handled the staph issue it reasonably well. I would consider trying it out once they re-open. Here's how the Fall vs Winter experiences differed. *** October: $89+ tax for a day pass*** A few of the cold pools were closed. Lots of outdoor rest areas, hammocks, as well as fire pits. 3 of the saunas were closed. ***January: $110+ tax for a day pass*** All outdoor pools were open Limited rest area overall. A lot of the outdoor hammocks were removed. There were a few firepits scattered around with Muskoka chairs, but it's a bit too cold to hang around there for too long. The A-frame rest structure was open in Oct, with some heaters and a fireplace. But it has been enclosed. There are 8-10 Muskoka chairs, and 4 or 5 hammocks. There is another gazebo like structure designated for resting, which is also enclosed, and quite warm. Rest areas are definitely limited in the colder months. The women's showers have bodywash, shampoo, conditioner, and a couple of hair dryers and hair straighteners. But they don't have any lotions or other toiletries (which I've seen at other spas). Even my crappy gym has lotion dispensers. I am a little disappointed with the price increase, but I guess that's the premium for being so close to Toronto. It's not a huge spa and can get quite busy and loud. Like the other reviewer said - I wish they enforced their noise and privacy rules. Most people spoke quietly and were respectful. But what's with the photoshoots and videos?! I have no problem with people taking a few pictures, but selfie sticks and commandeering a section of the pool to do hair flips and tiktok dances is unacceptable. I really enjoyed my time at Thermea, but I don't think it's 5-star worthy just yet. I wish they had discounted rates for weekdays or even multi-visit passes. Still, it's a great way to spend half a day to relax on your own or with a loved one. read more

Terrible Experience - No Refund for Cancellation I ordered a package for 4 people and never received a confirmation. One of my friends got sick, so we decided to cancel the reservation. We notified them more than 40 hours before our arrival, but they refused to provide a refund. It's unbelievable--they're just taking money without providing any service. Nothing but praise for this beautiful spa. I've been to a bunch of these spas, and this one is hands down the best yet. I recommend the float pool in the basement as well, it is incredibly relaxing. The group sauna and meditation building were such a bonus, and there are so many hot and cold pools to enjoy. You can spend several hours there. I live in BC, but I will be back to Thermëa on my next trip to Toronto for sure. Worth every penny. read more

The spa works so hard at being "touchless" that they miss the mark on good customer service. Staff sprung themselves at us on our arrival to use the screens to check in, when we just wanted to wait a moment for the rest of our group to arrive. We had some difficulties with our booking. One person reserved our booking and we were told we could update and change payment methods at check in. Once you reserve it is carved in stone. We had prebooked the women's change room and an extra large robe for one member. None of these reservations were met. We almost started to change until someone of a different gender walked into our aisle. Lucky for everyone that we noticed that were were in the general locker room. The extra large robe was not in the locker. Which is awkward, as you have already changed and now have a robe that doesn't fit. The switch was met with an aggressive staff who clearly told the wearer that they were in limited supply and not to change them. So our friend walked around in a damp robe all day as they were uncomfortable with approaching the staff for a change. There was no welcome or orientation to our group of new guests. All in all, our first 20 minutes took the zen of the day away. Good thing our group is the best and we had a lovely time because we were together. read more

This was my second visit. The atmosphere was beautiful. The only complaint I have is that they'll only do one robe and towel change. It was cold out the day we went and a wet robe and towel are not comfortable. The first time we went we had unlimited robe and towel changes. Expecting clients to walk around in cold wet robes takes away from the experience. They should consider, at least in cold weather, to have unlimited access for their guests for dry robes Other than that, the food and facilities are great. read more

We came to Toronto as a trip from the states and saw that this was only a little ways out of the city and decided to spend the day here. Completely amazing spa - saunas, steam rooms, cold plunges, massage services and places to just relax. The staff was super helpful and informative, highly recommended. read more

I was very excited about Thermea in Whitby since it was announced because I was a massive fan of Nordik in Chelsea when I lived in the National Capital Region. After moving back to the GTA, it's nice to know that I don't have to drive all the way to Gatineau/Chelsea (or Scandinavia at Blue Mountain) to enjoy a proper getaway, so I bought the tickets for my mother and me since summer 2022, before the facility was even open to the public. Unfortunately, there was an outbreak of staph and pseudomonas in October 2022 (in the Kalla pool, specifically), so we were apprehensive. After monitoring it after the outbreak, we decided to still give Thermea a chance, given that the company has been very transparent about health concerns (transparency is always a good sign). We've been seeing that the facility is taking this issue very seriously, and I've also heard good things after. We finally got to visit Thermea yesterday, and here are some of my thoughts: Pros: 1. The staff were accommodating and friendly throughout the facility, especially those that performed the special rituals. I could see that they put much work into their performances and ensured the guests had a wonderful stay. 2. The entire facility made me feel VERY safe, especially seeing how the multiple staff diligently tested the water's quality over and over again throughout my 6 hours stay. I understand this may be an interim thing due to the recent outbreak, but I hope they will continue to do this. Taking water quality and health seriously really made Thermea stand out from all other Spas I've been to (including Nordik in Chelsea). Seriously, kudos to all the workers at Thermea in Whitby. They all deserve free spas at the Groupe Nordik facilities. 3. I really like the Kelö sauna room. Cons: 1. Unlike Nordik in Chelsea (where it has different parts of the facilities with varying noise levels) and other spa places, there's no rule regarding noise levels and photos throughout the entire facility. Many visitors were very loud and constantly conversing in the sauna rooms, steam rooms and baths (and some were even on the phone, taking videos etc). I think it would make a lot of sense to have a rule to limit guests' noise level and phone use, or like Nordik to set up different zooms for socials and silence. 2. The resting area is extremely limited in this facility. As a matter of fact, there was no any dedicated indoor area to rest when I visited (December 13, 2022). The only place that was closest to it would be the second floor of the restaurant, but then 1) it's a restaurant - it's loud (while people are dining) and it has no lying beds, 2) the temperatures there were not monitored nor controlled well & I often got overheated or frozen. I found it hard to find a spot in the entire facility to take a nap, which was very absurd at a day spa facility. The outdoor resting areas were often too cold as well, though there were fire pits and (very weak) heaters. This was probably one of my biggest disappointments for sure since it disrupted my usual thermal cycle routine as I cannot have my usual periods of rest. I remember visiting Nordik numerous times in the middle of winter (below -10), but I have never had this issue. 3. The showering room only provides basic body wash, shampoo and conditioner. It doesn't have any other toiletries like most of the spas out there (not even lotions or q-tips). This was very underwhelming, considering the Thermea is in a higher price range compared to other spas. 4. Some facilities, like the three small saunas at the north end, were not finished during my visit. 5. The price was much higher than in other places, such as Scandinavia Spa at Blue Mountain. We paid around 120 CAD per person, but the facility is far smaller than Nordik in Chelsea, and the service is very limited and definitely not worth the price. In conclusion - I really want to like Thermea because I see how hard the staffs work there. Still, I won't be back until some of the issues are addressed above, while also knowing that the facility will continue to maintain its rigorous health procedures. read more

Pools and saunas are good but unfortunately this is not a quiet spa at all. If you want to laugh loudly and shout to your friends then yes, this is for you. More of a cottage party atmosphere. Not a place of relaxation. No staff anywhere to ensure quiet is kept so didn't really enjoy it. It's a "spring break" college getaway feeling. Not like the many other spas I have been to that have the full package of serenity and relaxation, like Forena in Quebec. Disappointed. Only thing good was the treatment 8/10 and the restaurant 8.5/10. Won't be going back. read more

Would certainly not recommend, very poor communication and customer service. We booked a visit months before the Staph infection was reported to have contaminated all pools in 2022 and instead of emailing us in advance of this issue, they told us 48 hours before our visit that we can either cancel our trip or come for a visit where only a handful of saunas operational (no pools or any water-related spa treatments were working). Since we already had the trip booked at this point, we came (we would have cancelled otherwise) and the quality was not worth it without the other pool activities. They provided a gift card for a real visit with all amenities working which we were hoping to use for my partner's upcoming birthday, however the gift card expired a month before her birthday, and they refused to extend it. It makes no sense that said gift card should expire at any point (I paid for a full visit which was not provided), and they did not clearly announce the date the card expired to us in advance. Very disappointed and would certainly not recommend to those looking for a relaxing spa experience. read more

As with any spa there are pros and cons. The capacity is a bit of a turn off but luckily the day we went it wasn't too busy at all. I loved the Aufguss rituals were amazing, we did 3 different ones. The steamroom sucks when you compare it to the Scandinave Spa in Collingwood so I was disappointed there but only because that happens to be a favourite of mine. The layout was good. Restaurant is super expensive so be prepared. Overall good experience. I do wish the bathrooms had outlets for your own flatiron (not interested in using the ones at the spa, ewe) read more
