Just sitting in the lounge now enjoying a coffee in my robe. Which is my favourite part of spa going. The decor is a mixture of pottery barn meets flower shop. Light, bright, and open, very sweet. I prefer a little more of a dark candle light zen vibe, thats personal choice though. The lady who did my treatment was lovely and knowledgeable, she was great with extractions, I could tell she was well trained. Will be trying the pool shortly but it looks amazing. I think this would be a great place for friends to have a spa day. Overall good experience. Update, just used the pool, jacuzzi and the infrared sauna. Amazing!! My body is completely relaxed and I am loving this. Minus the lady who is in the pool making tons of splashing noise doing laps right now . Shhhhh lol Can't wait to try other services. read more

Their only saving grace is the free glass of wine for checking-in on Yelp. My massage from Elena was terrible. I hadn't asked for a hot stone massage but she proceeded to rub a stone all over my body. I told her to focus on 1 area but ended up getting a full body. On top of that, I let her know that the pressure was not enough and she lectured me that I should let her do her thing. Overall, just a bad experience. I had also written a complaint when checking out which was supposed to be passed on to their manager. I received an email a week later with an apology and an offer to make up for it. When I tried to set something up, they ghosted (Diane Jacques was the contact who is supposedly the Director as well). Bad massage. Bad customer service. Will not return nor recommend. read more

I have been here twice now for massages and really enjoyed both visits. I came on weekdays and it was quiet both times. Combining a treatment with using the pool, sauna, and hot tub makes for a relaxing afternoon. The changeroom is small, but as I said, there was never more than 1 other person. They have hair dryers, a straightening iron, body lotion, toothpaste and toothbrushes. They also have plastic bags for your swimsuit. Bring your own hairbrush! The lounge area is spacious with comfy sofas and chairs. You can eat lunch there, so it is sort of set up to look like a restaurant. But you can just sit there, read magazines, and drink tea as well. The reception area features cosmetics, cards, flowers, and other gift items. The pool area has more lounge chairs. The sauna is very small so I would feel awkward in there with another person! There is an underwater treadmill and bike, but they say you need special shoes so your feet don't get hurt, so I skipped it. The RMT's were fantastic! Very relaxing and they make a note to ask about areas to focus on. Music started well with classical piano (real piano, not those midi-file-like versions) but then went on to typical new age-y spa music, which I was less into. They have great aromatherapy oils and let you choose which one. After each area is massaged, they put a warm towel over your skin - a nice touch. It's a bit pricey, but they have monthly specials on their website! I would be back the next time I want to use my benefits to get a massage. read more

Came back as a guest of the spa director for a manicure and was impressed by the service this time around. Completely the opposite experience from my last visit (in a good way) from beginning to end. Was greeted promptly by the front desk staff, my coat was hung up and I was offered a drink. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and professional, and the manicure was great. So in early 2017, I resolved to start getting monthly massages at a nice spa. I should have started here. This place feels clean, and quiet, and the service is so, so lovely. I just had the best massage of my life. Like, I was stumbling around in a happy daze after, sipping cucumber water (they have a bar which I'm definitely sampling next time). I feel like I bet on the wrong horse when I started my monthly routine at another popular women's/clothing optional spa that has a spot in both ends of the city. Which in comparison, is almost shabby in some ways (I mean the shower stalls there are pretty frightening and the drainage in the hydrotherapy areas seriously need maintenance in both locations) - and definitely not cheaper. Went here for a spa day with a friend and we booked a package that was a massage, lunch and mani/pedi combo. The massage and mani/pedi were fine. The atmosphere and feel of this place is really nice way more relaxing and chill than body blitz. And I will definitely return. Staff are very friendly and professional. Especially for a higher end place, the following revisions/changes would make this a 5 star location for me: 1. They offer generic crap teas (the same kind that my office stocks - from some big supplier...bleh). I go to the spa to get away from my office not be be reminded of it. 2. One of the nice things about this spa are the water therapies that they offer, it would ever MORE nice if they offered you a plastic bag for your wet bathing suit afterwards. (its the little things you know, that show you are thinking of my whole experience there, from arriving to leaving). 3. In the change rooms they have 2 hairdryers, but the wiring is such that they can't both be used at the same time (unfortunately we saw the sign too late). *light bulb* moment....if 2 hairdryers can not be used at the same time, do not provide 2 hairdryers. Sweetgrass is my go-to spa when I want to splurge on myself (or more likely, got a gift card for my birthday/xmas as I generally always ask for one). It's far from perfect, but I find the pros outweigh the cons, and I always feel so relaxed sitting by their pool area after my treatments. Some of the pros: Beautiful pool/hot tub/sauna area that looks sort of lagoon-like. High quality treatments and services. Really nice staff, who don't push expensive products on you (aside from this one time, but I ended up buying the product so I guess she was just a good saleswoman). The changing room/shower area is nice and clean. It has never been too crowded - I almost always get ready in an empty changing room. Some of the cons: $$$ It's women only, so can't do a couples massage or anything (well, this may be a con to some ppl - I actually enjoy the women only atmosphere). No convenient parking nearby. Update: I visited a second time to redeem the third service on my voucher, and the experience was much better. The front desk girl (short black hair) was welcoming, friendly and helpful. I was late, and they were still able to squeeze me in for my full service which made me really happy. Much better- rating upgraded to 4/5. Previous Review: As with my previous review of a different spa, this was listed on a couple website as being one of the better downtown spas. I wasn't able to make an appointment over the phone, the line kept going to voicemail. They were quick to respond to my online request, though. In person, the concierge was professional but unfriendy. When I'm spending $160 on a non-RMT massage, I expect a little love at reception. The reception area is also a storefront and the waiting room/lounge is connected by a wide doorway. It's not relaxing being in a robe in full view of the reception area/store. The waiting room décor was confused. There were clumps of chairs around a dining table. My massage was as good, but not great. I was very aware of the members versus non-members divide, because I saw a couple rooms marked "members only". It kind of made me feel like a second-class spa citizen. That's just my personal feeling, of course. On the plus side, for those of you who like water, the pool looked very nice. Waaaaay better than Elmwood, which sucks. With six or seven comparably priced and rated spas in the areas to try, I think I'll go somewhere else next time. read more

So this is how Canadians live? An American like me could get used to this, especially the riding off of massages with health insurance! A beautiful spa, a wonderful place for friends to sit around and soak up some fanciness. I was slightly disappointed in the whirlpools as they don't look as nice as they do in the pictures. Service was very good. But as this is yelp I have to minus one star---for the FOOD. Platters were okay, a few of them tasty but a few of them not, very necessary as you want to spend hours lounging in the spa and need something to munch on. But my advice is to eat somewhere else and then head to the spa and snack only as needed. But the most important part---THE HOT STONE MASSAGE. It was luxurious, comforting, OOO and AHHH and OH YES. Hands down the best massage I have ever had (and it should be for more than $150 for 60 minutes!). I was here for eye lash extension. Not happy with the experience and result, never came back. The lady who did it kept telling me to take baby steps, well, who wanted a baby steps when we decided to have the eye lashes extended!? We want a noticeable change, we want result! Before she finished she asked me to peek without taking off the tape and stuff, made my eyes all watery and couldn't really tell how I looked. For some reasons once she took off everything she cannot do it again so I had to say ok at that point. I didn't see any result from my extension. My eyes looked the same. Money wasted!! Find out from my friend that other places would take off everything, let you see how it looks on you, and then add more lashes if you are not happy with it. I had a day at this spa bought for me by my husband. My day started off with a very friendly greeting at the door. I was then escorted after signing health forms to the pool/hot tub/sauna area. It was very nice but the sauna was a small one person room with clear doors that offered no privacy and you could not enter with a wet bathing suit. Medicore "hydrotherapy" section. I was then escorted to my massage. 1hr. Very professional. Nice facility. And then to the champagne lunch which was included. The portion was very small but was good. Nothing extraordinary. The manicure pedicure were average. But the service was excellent. The lounge and changing areas are also very comfortable. With robe and towel service. All in all excellent day. read more

More like a 4.5/5... I came here after my sister received a gift certificate and decided to treat my mom and me to facials. My face, red, ruddy, and irritated from chlorine and rosacea was in desperate need of a facial. I was introduced to Shadi, who was going to give me my 45 minute facial. I said I wanted to calm my skin down and to do extractions. I specifically mentioned I didn't expect her to work miracles. Well 45 minutes later, my skin is a normal colour and not irritated? and glowing? As I said, I didn't expect her to work miracles but alas, she did. It was nice because she didn't try to force any products on me either. She told me to stick with my usual routine and add sunscreen. My mom and sister enjoyed their facials and manis. Anyway, we all left the spa with our faces practically glowing and looking fabulous. All the staff is really nice and the pool and sauna area is quite beautiful. read more

3.5 - I came here with my girlfriends on a Saturday for the bridal package. We were greeted right away and shown the guest change room. The reception was very nice and explained the facilities and presented us with some forms to fill out. They had some coffee, tea and water at a station for us to enjoy throughout the day. We started with the water therapies, followed by lunch. The lunch was provided by the George restaurant next door. I thought the lunch was good, but I think I would have ordered off the regular menu for more variety. The lunch is paired with either prosecco, latte or cappuccino. After our lunch, we waited around for a bit and our RMTs got us for the massage. My massage was great, very relaxing! My RMT was knowledgeable and did a wonderful job. After the massage we had the mani and pedi which was great. They were very meticulous painting my nails and was careful while completing the cleaning and cuticle cutting. My nails lasted 2 weeks with regular polish! My friends and I arrived around 11:45 to start our day and left around 6. We had such a relaxing and refreshing day. They provide you with an RMT receipt as well for insurance. I thought the water therapies could have been a bit nicer. I enjoyed the jacuzzi and the pool was nice but it felt a little outdated and the sauna is way too small to be enjoyed by a group of people. I would say max 3 people could fit in their sauna. The guest change room is also very small. There are 3 showers but there is only 1 washroom. The receptionist allowed me to go into the members only washroom since there was a line for the washroom and that room is way bigger and nicer. It's too bad the guest bathroom is so small. Around 6 when I was leaving, I could not dry my hair due to another guest drying her hair and getting ready for an event. When I asked the reception for another hair dryer, she said there could only be 1 used at a time in the washroom. That was unfortunate and I had to walk home with wet hair. Yay: -located on the bottom level of a building, this spa was in all beautiful, spacious, and clean; -Heather was the one who gave me the facial. If you enjoy organic / Dr. Hauschka products, know that she's been trained to give full Dr. Hauschka facials - complete with a pre-facial foot soak, some lymphatic massage, and some colour therapy. Heather really knows her products (request "organic/Dr. Hauschka" products in advance, so that she can ready the foot soak; otherwise you'll be offered Dermatologica - a worldwide known brand name, minus the foot soak; -usage of the indoor pool and hot tub, infrared sauna, steam room, are all at your disposal; -a bathrobe, towels, and even a sample sunscreen and toothbrush and toothpaste may be offered to you once you get to your locker - which comes with a key, so that it can be locked; -decent selection of cosmetics, esp. in the skincare dept. (although I'm not sure if the prices are the most competitive out there); -they have a lounge area for you to chill in - unless you'd rather chill in the pool area. Hey: -the only gratis beverages offered were water, coffee, or Lipton teas (would have been nice if juices were added to the mix!); -if you have a coupon on any sort, you might find the receipt confusing - they've broken up the amount and at first the way they arrived to my total was unclear. I had the whole place to myself. I've been to the other spa that offers the water circuits and no matter what time/day you go..it's always busy and loud. this was perfect. The staff was very professional and offered me beverages at no cost. someone had mentioned they don't have plastic bags for their swimsuits, well i asked and i got one, that simple. Was treated as though I couldn't afford to be there, by a rude receptionist who couldn't find my booking, left me waiting a long time before and after, didn't tell me anything about the amenities (including the pool, which is meant to be the main drawcard, as though I wasn't good enough to use it). Horrible inexperienced front desk staff. Booked pa day for myself and a friend. Day before spa friend went to emergency for an unexpected medical issue. Called to cancel 23 hours prior to appointments. They said i would still incur the full charges as i was not the one sick!!!!! Was worried for friend and may have had to assist if things were not well. Talk about a stressful start to a spa day. Not what we had in mind at all. Friend even offered to pay for pool access while i had my treatments however even then the receptionist said no as need to book $100 minimum for access. She was able to come and get a modified treatment but manager did not even offer a complimentary hand cream as compensation for the stress. The worst spa experience. I brought my friend there for a relaxing spa day as part of a bachelorette party and it was the worst mistake. They messed up both on her nails, my nails and on all of the bridesmaids' individual bills. We asked them to split the bride's bill for us so we can cover her costs and they for some reason would not give us a receipt with a proper breakdown of costs. They made a bunch of mistakes during the whole experience. They gave me regular polish when I booked shellac. I had told them it's okay, just make sure I'm not charged with shellac but they charged me anyway. The nail salon gave the bride instructions to wait an hour for her nails to dry and 20-30 min for my nails to dry. We both waited one hour before showering and of course the nails were scratched up and dented afterwards. They don't have the proper equipment in their nail salon because typically nail technicians put your nails under a fan to dry but they didn't. They asked the bride to come back to get it fixed but refused to hold a spot for her the next day unless she could confirm her schedule on the spot (the bride lives an hour and a half away and it's the week of her wedding so she would need time to re-arrange her schedule to make it happen). They said it would be "taking away" from another customer if they held the spot for her and she wasn't able to make it, even though their mistake is the reason why she needed to come back in the first place. When I checked my bill I told the front desk that my meal is charged incorrectly because it seemed like a lot more than what I ordered. She kept insisting it was correct without actually checking. Finally, I told her I didn't mean to be difficult, but just wanted to be sure and asked to look at the lunch menu again and found out that they had indeed charged me with the wrong meal. She then proceeded and said, "well, what you had on your plate was this salad instead", even though I repeatedly told her I had ordered the daily salad and asked if the amount was correct. At that point it seemed like she was just trying to argue back to defend herself from upset customers who were rightfully disappointed. She then accused me of lying when I told her that the nail technician told me to wait 20-30 min even though I waited an hour before taking a shower and said that she had spoken to the technician and was told a different story. I asked her what the technician told her and she refused to explain. Again, a proper nail salon should have a fan to dry the nails but this one didn't have one for some reason even though the service is not cheap at all. We ended up staying there all day to get the bills sorted out properly and for the bride to finally get her nails fixed. Having to deal with this poor service took so much time that it actually cut into the other activities we had planned for the bride's relaxing day. I would highly discourage anyone from going there. read more

Sweetgrass Spa is a real oasis in the city. I went there yesterday with three ladies for a Bridal Shower. The spa was very accommodating - allowing us to get most of our appointments together (services like massages, facials etc. must be done separately), modify packages, and taking care of our individual needs (one of the bridesmaids is pregnant). The therapeutic salt water pool and hot tub are lovely, and I absolutely loved my hot stone massage. I was impressed by the estheticians' attention to detail for our manicures and pedicures-- they really take their time making sure your fingers and toes are absolutely gorgeous by the time you leave. The fact that it is a small, ladies only club made it a very quiet, comfortable, and relaxing day - and we all felt very pampered walking around in our robes. The only thing that was a little disappointing was our lunch. Since we were there on a Sunday, George Restaurant was closed so all our food had to be "catered". We were only offered three options, and they all ended up being a bowl of lettuce topped with a couple tomatoes and a side of protein. I would recommend skipping the lunch on a Sunday, or going a different day to really capitalize on George's fine dining. The pool area is nice to lounge in before you go, my facialist was friendly but not pushy on the products, and she made sure to use the full 75 minutes that I booked. Was not a good experience.The staff was pleasant which made the experience slightly better but the prices were not very reasonable. Most importantly, my pedicure was ruined after sitting for over 2 hours to let it dry (while awaiting a friends pedicure, lunch and consuming lunch) -- was not impressed at ALL. Pedicure deal did not include the hot wax.. in which you think it would for the price paid. No massage chairs which would have been an additional bonus. Overall, would not recommend this spa to anyone. The price being so high for such a poor outcome is very disappointing. read more

Let me start off by saying the decor of this spa is wonderful. When we walked in it was a bit odd as we weren't greeted right away. After we said Hi the receptionist was nice and helped us with her coats and checked us in. When we were given our robes they were all one size. One of my friends had to wear some clothes underneath as the robe wasn't big enough to cover her completely. After we put on our robes and walked into the lounge we were given forms to fill out and our meal cards to select from. After a minute our ladies came up to us and wanted us to follow them to our massage rooms. We were just given our forms and had no time to fill them out. We let them know and one lady was quite rude and said "well we don't want you to not have your full massage time." It wasn't our fault we hadn't completed our forms. I enjoyed my massage but my mother really wasn't happy with hers and couldn't relax during it at all. When I got out of the massage room, my mom was already out in the lounge and we had to wait for our third friend. Our lunch was sitting there waiting for us, which would've been a nice touch if we didn't need to wait for our friend for at least 10 more minutes. By the time she had finished with her massage my pasta dish was not hot. My mom and friend ordered salads so that didn't matter if it was waiting for a while, but it wasn't great for my pasta which was cold. I had a manicure scheduled, but they didn't have the proper equipment to do my gel nails. They could only do regular polish and shellac polish. That was a bit upsetting but it was okay. The ladies in the nail salon part were really nice. Tammy was especially great as her knowledge was very impressive and her attention to detail was amazing. The woman who did my nails was nice and did well enough. The only thing I didn't love was when I was waiting for my mom and friend to be finished their pedicures I was asked to move in a not so nice way. I get that a new group was coming in but I wasn't too happy with the way the woman motioned for me to move with her hand. It left me with a bad taste. The change room for non guests was nice overall but the locker area didn't have much space for us to change and put things in our lockers. When we first walked in, it was so crowded we had to wait for people to move just to access the lockers we were assigned to. Sweet heaven for Sweet Grass Spa. It is a beautiful and quiet spa. I cannot believe that it is a block away from where I live. I had an amazing session with Nick who is an RMT. It was a deep tissue massage that involved a lot of dynamic stretches and joint activation, which I personally liked because my body is pretty bruised from all the bootcamp exercises during the week. I came in and got to the lockers seamlessly. I did get toothbrush and toothpaste with my robe, which was quite good. Then I lounged around in their pink waiting room. It was very pink but I found that the chaise lounges were very comfortable. They had teas and water to quench your thirst but that's about it. Not going to complain though. It is thoroughly addictive and I can imagine being here all day. This place makes me want to book another visit very soon and almost makes me want spend a small fortune on a years worth of massage! Hmmm invest in mutual funds or massages? Very tough choice! read more
