Great place! Super vibe. The scramble, fresh oj, grilled cheese, breakfast burrito - are all amazing

A group of friends and myself were camping in the Carpenteria Beach Park (which is walking distance to the cafe - no more than a mile) and we decided we would go grab some breakfast. We hopped on Yelp and Busy Bee was the #1 search and conveniently close. Our group of 7 walked over and when we opened the door were greeted by a man rushing by. We quickly noticed they had a full dining room with the exception of an empty breakfast bar. The man told us to write a name down and he would call us when they were ready for us. About one minute later, he came out to ask if we didn't mind sitting at the bar, which we didn't because we were starving! So we sat down and this wonderful lady walked over, took our drink order and brought water to the rest of us all within the first 5 minutes. She then had to run some food and as soon as she did, she returned and took our order. The whole time our drinks were refilled promptly. The food did take a while to come out but when it did, it was definitely enjoyable. No complaints from all 7 people. The hash browns have some intense garlic flavor, btw. And they're toast is nicely buttered. The waffles were good, nothing out of this world. Marie was prompt to bring us our bills and get us checked out. I read some other reviews and noticed everyone commented about the prices. Yes, they are pricey. But everyone should consider their prime location and factor in all their expenses. Don't complain about the prices. If you enjoy this place and return, understand their prices are the only way they can stay in business. Point being, go try the Busy Bee. LOVE this place! It's the best restaurant in town when it comes to breakfast and lunch. It's creative, tasty and you can't go wrong with anything you get! Such a wondeful place. Our waiter whom i think is also the owner was one of the nicest persons i have ever met ! We had a wait about 10 minutes for our foor but we didn't even care he was so nice and i think he was training a new employee i believe. I work in the food business so i know what it's like. My family and I arrived at 10am for breakfast, after waiting 45min, I finally had to say something to an overwhelmed server because there were 3 empty tables that were dirty. Then, she lightly cleaned the tables and we sat down, (another family in line after us was seated as well). While we waited for water and utensils I noticed that the other family was getting their order taken before us! Then, after another 15 min. our order was finally taken and we waited 35 min for our food to come. When our food arrived, my order was completely wrong (they left the mushrooms out of my mushroom omelette!) I had to send my meal back, but by this time, my kids and husband were famished, so they ate their meals quickly. i ended up cancelling my order because I didn't think my kids could wait for them to re-make my meal and I didn't want to eat alone. Although, my family said their meals were good, the lack of staff made our whole experience unenjoyable. I would not recommend this place. read more

Great food, great service, big portions and reasonable prices. Everything you could ask for from a breakfast spot! They also offer lunch options, but we were hungry for breakfast. Marie was our server and she was great. The place must be named after her because she was truly a busy bee! Working nonstop and taking care of the entire counter. My family and I were passing through Carpentaria and stopped into the Worker Bee Cafe for lunch. That was the best decision we made today and we had already enjoyed an afternoon at the beach! The tuna salad was the best I had ever tasted in my young life: fresh cucumber, tomato and mixed greens topped with tuna salad. A true winner for tuna salad lovers! BLT was delicious as was the special: spicy shrimp and grits. Amazing service with a kind hearted staff. A mixture of pleasant interactions with the owner, delicious food and black coffee had me feeling courageous enough to write my first Yelp review. So good!!! The corned beef hash cooks for 15 hours and it melts in your mouth. The seasoning they put on everything was so good we had to buy a bottle. I can't wait to use it! What karma to have found this place, turning off the highway on a whim for a very late breakfast. The superb corn beef hash with poached eggs and the friendly welcome and service were the best of American: home made, genuine and more than the sum of its parts. What a tragedy that fast food trash pervades in the US when gems like this exist; my only regret is that I'm not a local so likely won't be back very often. I just hope the locals know what they have on their doorstep and keep the place busy. Good food will always be remembered and I'll certainly remember this. Thanks. read more

Ingot stung with $17 for a breakfast! Ridiculous prices. Ok food. Nice service, Iguess. Corn beef hash as aside order almost $7! I didn't know the price but I assumed 3.50. A good waiter would have adjusted my order because I only wanted an omelette. Oh did I say omelets are10.59! I felt really used. I spent almost the same amount of money at the nearby Palm Restaurant and I got a t-bone,mash potato, salads and beans! This place is in my permanent NEVER AGAIN category. This place is wonderful! I have a dairy allergy so I always order kind of the same thing everywhere. Bacon and eggs with Hash brown and toast... not too exciting right... but it is done so perfectly here the bacon is magical and the hashbrowns are seasoned with something incredible! We were all so impressed with this place! The owner is so passionate and really cares about the high quality of the ingredients and it shows big time! We got the 2 egg plates, one with bacon and gravy biscuit and other with English muffin and they were super good. We also had a club sandwich with gluten free bread which rocked too. We decided to try some local flavor while camping and happened upon The Worker Bee for breakfast. Best hash brown around. No need for any additional seasoning. My daughter had the chicken, eggs, and hash browns. I had the french toast that was as flavorful an any. A must if you get to Carpenteria. I went here for brunch while passing through Carpinteria. I had the Two Eggs, Any Style dish. It was mediocre and about $2 more expensive than it should be for the quality. At vacation home in Ventura for the weekend and light on food in the fridge. Always opt for the indie spots rather than a chain restaurant. Found this gem on Saturday morning and liked it so much we came back Sunday too! Not a big place which adds to the charm. Waits for a table can be expected but it's worth it. Had REAL corned beef hash. Not from a can that resembles dog food, but big tender pieces of tasty corned beef with peppers and potatoes. Wife had French toast with blueberries and whipped cream. Had a homemade taste and flavor that is missing when you go to chain restaurants. Two people running the show and it's a bit frantic but again that adds to the charm. Sunday my wife had potato skin hash which is exactly what it sounds like with jalapeño bacon and it was delicious. I had a chili omelette with the tender chunks of real chili not canned. The great food merits a four star rating. It's the owner Rick's enthusiasm and care for his guests that nails a 5. We visited on a Monday morning and in addition to receiving a great breakfast, one of our group complimented Rick on the music he was playing in the restaurant. Good food it turns out is only one of Rick's passions. Music is the other. Rick and our table mate conversed about music, specifically jazz, as Rick hurried about the restaurant greeting new guests, delivering generous and delicious meals and always refilling beverages. We told Rick we would be back for breakfast the next morning and he promised to have jazz oriented music playing. Promise kept! Don't miss the opportunity to drop in for a great meal. I've lived in Carp my whole entire life and barely went to this cute little restaurant today! My friend suggested this place for breakfast so we headed there around 11 am. I must say they have an amazing selection on their menu and it all sounds quite tasty. I had the French toast with sweet apples and whipped cream.
