Friday night at the Woolshed Baa and Grill was the most amazing time I've had in a while. The I located right next to a multiplex movie theatre. There was a complimentary bingo game where with each number, called there was a related song from the 80s played. You got a bingo card with three sets of bingo numbers. The first to win was one completed line, then two completed lines, and finally 3 completed vines or blackout. Each winner got a prize like a pitcher of beer or a beanie. I won a pint of the featured beer. Whiskey drinks were extremely reasonable at 4.50 euro and after 11 p.m. the price went up 30 cents to 4.8 euro. The DJ took song requests and it was it all out super fun 80s party night. I was shocked to see how popular American 80s songs are in the heart of Ireland.

    Brazilian Party Night at Woolshed

Although Woolshed claims to be an Australian bar and grill, it hosts many different international events. Every Wednesday, it puts on a fantastic Brazilian night. It doesn't cost anything to get in and jugs are 20 Euro. The fun kicks off after 11pm when everyone starts doing the samba. The live band belts out popular tunes in Portuguese and the crowd claps to the beat. When I was there, two men from the crowd started doing Capoeira, the Brazilian fighting dance. Everyone gathered around and cheered the dancers as they kicked, ducked and cart-wheeled. The Woolshed on Wednesdays is a refreshing break from routine. You don't have to be Brazilian to enjoy this party.

I love the fact that this spot shows NFL and the staff are great. The layout is huge, a proper sports bar. What I don't like which is not their fault, well kinda, is the horror show of karaoke that was on last night. A drunken group of us on our Christmas party descended and even in my intoxicated state myself and the boys could identify the aural nastiness. I never knew that such woeful singers existed. It was horrific. I would rather they stick to showing sport.

Someone spotted an Australian-theme-pub-sized niche in the Dublin market, and along came The Woolshed on Parnell St. The Woolshed made a bit of a coup in terms of its location, as it right next to Cineworld and is the natural spot to head for a few post-cinematic pints. Inside, the Woolshed is pretty damn big, and serves a wide range of beers (they do pitchers if you want to go on the cheap). The place has a gigantic screen for matches, and you can see queues of people outside for big rugby matches. One might find it a little odd that an Australian theme pub also serves as a sports bar as Australians, contrary to their national image as "men's men", are often not all that interested in sports. But there you have it. And the thing about it being a sports bar is that the owners have left a lot of standing room for when people are crammed in on match days, which translates into there being not a lot of tables the rest of the time, even early enough on week-night. If you are fortunate enough to get a table, The Woolshed do tasty platters of 21st style food (chicken wings, onion rings, and other assorted stuff coated in batter). Really friendly staff as well, some of the friendliest in Dublin. Despite its minor drawbacks, great option for Tuesday night pints.

Rock star bingo event every friday - free to play!

This just has to be moved to 5 stars and definitely my "local" place. Events Almost every night there is a free event - Free comedy, free dancing, free bingo, free karaoke. Then you also have the best spot to watch ANY sporting event! Drinks Daily changes to specials, pitcher of beer 10€, pints from 3.5€. for its location, its so cheap. (food, i'm yet to eat here). But I also have the cineworld card, which gives you 10 discount....so these prices are even lower! The Pub Massive place, so you can usually find a place to sit, they also have a great "stadium-like" seating for the sporting events in front of the massive screens. They also have a smoking area out the front, which is half under cover, but you can get the afternoon sun. Unfortunately they do pull in the seating quite early, but its probably to do with law restrictions. They also have a pool table. Its 2 euros to play. The staff They are all super nice and attentive. They all seem to really like working there and have a good craic Overall its just such a great place to go to to just chill out. When there is a major sporting event it can get crazy busy (e.g. world cup).

I have been there in different occasions, I would say it's perfect if you want to watch sport related games with friends. Many screens and nice Beer and atmosphere but do not order food. I didn't enjoy it, I mean the shared platter is ok (fries, onion rings and sausages) but I had a burger that was not that great and nachos were ok. If you don't go there for dinner then you are safe!

A top spot for anyone who has spent a year in Oz and misses the down-home bon homie of the bars. All your old favourites are here, including stubbies of Toohey's New and Castlemaine Four X, along with traditional Aussie bar food, such as burgers with pineapple slices and beetroot and actual pies with ketchup in the middle. This is one of the few bars in the city with more than one pool table but it is really a venue for those far from home (Australia, New Zealand, South Africa) to watch their chosen sports team kick seven shades out of each other on flat screen TVs.

The woolshed is really good at what it is - being a sports bar. It's mostly Australian rugger they show, but I've also seen stuff like ice hockey being watched too. I've watched a couple of Ireland games here and the atmosphere was great - loads of supporters jammed into one spot, mixed with a load of tourists. Last time I was there I met some really friendly South African guys, and we ended up having a great day, watching sport. They do stuff like pitchers of beer and giant food platters, so it's no wonder guys love it here!

The Woolshed is probably one of, if not THE, best pubs in Dublin to watch sports matches. It's really large, and they have tvs everywhere, so no matter where you look there is bound to be men professionally kicking, hitting or throwing balls of some sort directly in your line of vision. They also have big screens that they project matches onto, and for important ones this place gets really busy. They have kind of stadium-like seating in one section, so it's kind of like being there. Haha, ok not really but it's as close as you'll get in Dublin. They show all sports, from football and rugby to American football and hockey. If you need to watch a particular game, it's probably being shown here. If you don't see it, ask a staff member and they'll hook you up. The staff, by the way, is very friendly and multi-cultural and everyone seems like they're actually having a good time at work. The food is standard sports bar fare - sandwiches, burgers, and fried yumminess. The portions are HUGE, so it's easy to share plates. Their platters are giant and would suit more than the recommended 3 people. Basically, come hungry! Or just grab a pint or a pitcher and enjoy whatever game is in your line of sight. I would not recommend going on a Wednesday night. While the appeal of a Brazilian party is nice, the band that plays each week is TERRIBLE.

    Poor excuse of a platter

The service was excellent as I had the potato soup which was delicious and cheap. My wife and daughter split the Irish rolls and they fell in love with them. It was a great experience and I would definitely highly recommend anyone in Dublin to visit this place. Tucked down Dame Court just off Dame Street, The Stag's Head is one of those rare pubs that feels genuinely historic rather than designed to look old. The building dates to the late 1800s, and the interior retains the ornate features of a classic Victorian "gin palace"--rich carved wood, stained glass, brass rails, and a warm, glowing bar that feels wonderfully preserved. We stopped in around 4:30 pm, which turned out to be a perfect time to visit. There were other patrons enjoying drinks and food, but the atmosphere was calm and relaxed rather than loud or rowdy. It felt like the kind of place where locals drop in for a quiet pint on their way home from work before the evening crowd arrives. The staff were excellent--friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good (we failed to take photos because we were too busy enjoying it). As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see the Impossible burger front and center on their menu; it was deliciously prepared with guacamole on a brioche bun, and not an afterthought on the menu. My companions both chose the Irish Beef Burger, and said it was excellent. One thing to know: this is a traditional Victorian pub, so cocktails aren't really part of the program. Expect beer, wine, or spirits rather than mixed drinks. In a place like this, that actually feels exactly right. Other pubs do serve mixed drinks. Between the history, the ambience, the quality of the food, and the wonderful staff, The Stag's Head is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've experienced a real piece of Dublin.

This resulted in us being cooped for a day in a half in our Airbnb, since most of Dublin shut down. Businesses of all kinds were closed. The cabin fever had set in. My girlfriend and I were itching to explore the pub scene or any scene for that matter! We decided to layer up and go for a walk...in 32 degree weather and a foot of snow. Hey we're Floridians, we were up for some change! Lo and behold, we look up at the pub around the corner from our Airbnb, and the doors are open. We see Dubliners out front smoking cigarettes, joshing around, happy to be out in the world. We nearly sprinted into The Back Page, which is a fantastic name for a pub by the way. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. Customers were relaxed, the bartenders were chipper, and there was lots of wiggle room to sit or stand throughout the two story venue. Local beers and local whiskies filled the menu, and the prices were very reasonable. Attached to the bar is a pizza joint, I assume they are under the same ownership. We ordered the Sonia O'Sullivan pie and Bruschetta and both were excellent. Having Italy on the horizon in just a matter of days, we were not expecting 5 star pizza in Dublin. To our surprise, the texture and overall flavor of the pie were absolutely phenomenal. Full of life, cheerfulness, and exuberance at The Back Page. Recommend to anyone!
