Done out like a Victorian, well, gin palace, this ornate bar is often an option for a swift late drink after a gig at the Academy, when the place hops like a epileptic kangaroo. However, go during the day and you may find you and your party to be the only customers, and therefore prey to over-enthusiastic lounge staff. Hold tight to your glasses, they may be snatched away before you have a chance for that all-important last swallow. At the moment, it has a special offer of a vodka and Coke for €5.50 - in Dublin, this is actually a bargain. read more

This is another one of those places that I have passed by umpteenth times but I never went in. Today, I did as did a clatter of Russian sailors! Their caps are like huge saucers, but I digress. It's very nicely designed inside and the staff are all wearing very smart uniforms, it just feels too staged and lacks character. It also feels like it plays to the tourists a lot and there was a lot of tourists there. The bar food seemed popular. I thought that the cocktail menu was pricey, their speciality of course being gin. In bold font they advertised their world beers on a menu, the only beer that they showed was in the singular, a peroni... Apparently they have a huge appreciation for Italy and believe that it is the world. read more

This is a hidden gem of a bar on the Northside near the Hapenny Bridge. It's a great place to sit down with a few friends and actually be able to hear them talk rather than just be defened by the din that is present in so many other nearby bars and pubs. The ambience is like a throw back to another era as it looks better suited to a 1930's Chicago than it does to contemporary Dublin. They have a great selection of pints and spirits, particularly gin as the name of the pub suggests. read more

Awwwwesome place and their menu was riveting ... I unfortunately was not in a drinking mood since we were about to leave early the next day, but it was a happening place, with lots of people and enough wait staff that we didn't have to wait long to get served. Really wished we found this place earlier in our trip and not on the last night - the menu was so enticing... I'd definitely keep this bookmarked for my next time around. read more

After beer/whiskey tasting in Dublin, I encountered Gunpowder gin from my husband's friend and I wanted to go on gin tasting. Gin Palace offered gin tasting so I came here to check it out and omg, rather than 3 gin tasting sampler, Hendricks Gin Tea Party Set was the one that I got hooked on. The "Tea Party" is offered in a beautifully designed Hendricks' tea cup set and had infused cucumber, rose water. It was the most refreshing cocktail I ever had, and even though I'm a beer/whiskey person, I think I'm gonna switch to gin, just from this experience. read more

Derek Garry, son of Des Garry, who has been involved in the Belgard Complex in Tallaght for 32 years, is no stranger to the bar trade and knows how to run a pub. This place is a lovely little bar with friendly, professional service. I can't comment on the price of the pint as it had been so many years since me and Derek had seen each other, he bought me one. It's located a 4 minute walk from where I work so I reckon it'll be my sneaky-one-on-my-break pub. I was impressed before when I walked in about 5 minutes before closing time one night and asked if it was too late for an Irish coffee (which, in fairness, would make my blood boil) only to be greeted with a real smile and "Of course not, take a seat and I'll drop one over to you" Thanks guys! read more

This is one of my favorite places in Dublin. My husband and I were in Dublin 3 days and we went here twice. If you are a gin lover, you HAVE to come here. I really enjoyed the gin flights that they offer, and the Hendricks high tea was so delicious and really fun! The bangers and mash were so very good. I miss this place as we have nothing comparable at home of course. Service was quick as well, and everyone friendly. read more

This place is something different. I'm a gin drinker and snob so of course of come here. It is off the beaten path and a little hard to find (at least at night, and lack of signs). The inside smells.like cigarettes which isn't my forte, but hey, your in Ireland/Europe. I got a flight and it was great trying different gins and different tonics. I had a gin where they added pepper and strawberries to it and I was amazed by how wonderful it was. When you are there ask for Monkey 47 gin, worth the price. Overall, expect to really spend some money there but have a great time. read more

This is a great place for anything from a lovely gin , food or cocktail ! The service is good and friendly , really like the atmosphere.. Food menu is good as pub grub goes Nice fish cakes and wings . Half a chicken is lovely have to say with the fab gravy .. Lasagne also lovely . Well recommended ! read more

I've been here twice now and had positive experiences on both occasions! The first was to meet a group of friends. None of the tables were big enough, so we had to squish around one, but it worked out because everyone was drifting around anyway. The interior itself is very beautifully decorated, very plush and vintage-y. I think it lives up to its excellent name. The music is never too loud, which makes a nice change from many of the raucous Dublin bars. The patrons seem to older in age than most of the bars we would frequent, but it doesn't make any significant difference. They have a large variety of cocktails at cheaper prices than the Grafton and South William areas, along with usual draughts and, of course, gin. The second time I was here, we were looking for food. It was packed and we had to wait for a table. We got a small one near the door (it got kind of chilly, as we were near the door). We both ordered fish and chips and were pleasantly surprised when the plates showed up about 7-8 minutes later! Everything was very well done and we were satisfied. Service was quick and friendly. read more

Popped in last night after a gig in the Academy. First time here, Liked the decor inside, really comfy chairs! Bar staff were very friendly (although as it was Monday night and very quiet, they were playing Jenga with one of the patrons!). My only advice would be don't sit outside, Abbey streeet is not somewhere I would normally hang out, and is the reason I've never been in the pub. We were accosted by a drunk outside who tried to steal our beer and then tried to put a tissue around my friends face from behind (a la the chloroform in the movies) - very strange. read more

I went into gin palace a few weeks back with a mate after leaving a gig at the Academy somewhat *ahem* unceremoniously for a a few pints before last call. I really liked the buzz in the place, it was full, but not packed and although I have a bias towards the place as I met a nice lady friend when I was there, you could go to much worse places for a few pints. read more

Really like The Gin Palace, it's a first-rate establishment and a place I would frequent regularly to eat. It is part of The Louis Fitzgerald group who owns many top pubs in the city centre and throughout Dublin. There is always top quality food and drink to be found in Louis's joints! and The Gin Palace is no exception. The food here is excellent with quite an extensive menu. My personal favourite being the Oriental prawn stir fry and a couple of different sides, to share of course!!!!! But having tried many dishes on the menu, I would say everything is pretty good. A wide variety of drinks and cocktails available too, not just Gin as the name may suggest!!!!! Although they do apparently have "the largest selection of gin in Dublin boasting gins from every corner of the globe." So obviously if you're a fan of gin this place is a must! Plenty more options available for those who are not, which is probably the majority of patrons! The staff here are really nice and friendly, I like the way they come over during your meal and ask you is everything ok. You don't always get that when ordering bar food, it's proper order and it shows they care!!!! One of the main reasons I like The Gin Palace is the decor. It's not traditional Irish or modern, it's unique. The bar is decorated in an old Victorian theme with lots of brass and low level lighting. I really like it! The Gin Palace is in a fantastically convenient location, just over the Ha'Penny Bridge close to the Jervis street Luas stop with two entrances, one on Liffey street and one on Abbey street making it very accessible. To sum up I would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone, whether it be for food, drinks, watching a match, chilling with friends, whatever, it's excellent!!!!! read more

This is my favourite pub in Dublin. It is a nice place to go to if you want to have a few pints and chat with mates after work. It does be busy in the evening but not that busy that you can't move which is quite nice. Bar staff and waitresses are friendly which always helps in a busy Dublin pub. Food is lovely too and the pints are not that expensive for city centre prices. They do specials too. Good music on the sound system. Lovely pub, highly recommend it. read more

I like this pub. It's a landmark in Dublin and is in a great spot. Contrary to many of the other pubs in the area the prices are not too dear and the menu is reasonably priced. The staff are lovely and even though it's call the Gin Palace and they have a wide selection of gins and jenevers they also do many cocktails and have a decent selection of beers including craft beers from around Ireland. I personally love the place as it is only one of a very few I have found in all of Ireland that does a proper martini. read more

My line of work was once, very briefly, promotions and by very briefly I mean for one night. I had to go around the Gin Palace wearing a flat screen television on my back for a few hours. I had to turn my back to customers and let them play a video game while using me as a glorified TV stand. It did look a little like a jet pack but I swear to Jeebus if one more person ever says 'Howaya Buzz Lightyear" to me again ... grrr ... It was the 78th time I heard the same joke in two hours that I decided to retire. This means we kind of got off to a bad start but having been here mid week a few times for drinks I have to say it really is a nice bar. It's a weird right angle but it's a good looking one and when it's not busy it's pretty comfortable. read more

I came to the Gin Palace on the last day of my trip in Ireland, after hearing about it's vast selections of gin. The rumors were true - there were tons of different gins to try, and several cocktails too. I opted for a classic G&T made with Bertha's Revenge Gin - made from Whey Protein and named to honor the oldest cow to have ever graced this earth with her presence - who happened to be Irish. read more

Funnily enough my review for The Gin Palace doesn't include Gin as I haven't actually enjoyed a beverage of the alcoholic nature here. I will one day test out their many gins - Gin to make you Sin and all that malarkey. Anyhoo rambling aside my review today is about The Gin Palaces lunch time offerings. I've been a number of times now and have tried and tested their soups which are deliciously homemade in style crouton topped, their sandwiches which are jam packed and their Gambas Al Pil Pil (prawns) dish which I love - The Gin Palace signature dish apparently but a dish that I think can also be found in their sister bar The Grand Central either way it's served in a small skillet pan, you get about 10 or so large prawns sizzling in garlic and chilli oil and they are served with fresh bread and butter. If you like prawns I'd recommend it big time. If you don't, don't order it obviously. Service around lunch times are efficient and with a smile. If you get yourself a Benefitz Card you can avail of 10% off which I usually give back as a tip. I did have an issue availing of this one day as we'd ordered in a group but paid separately - I was a little embarrassed but more annoyed with the servers attitude at the time but I forgave and I've returned since. read more

I didn't know what I was expecting when I came here, but it wasn't this. The Gaudy Palace, a sports bar cum paltry bar, certainly no palace. Some tacky furnishings and polished floorings do not a palace make. This place is usually packed with tourists and loud groups of people who are already well oiled on their way to the club. Staff are nice if you can catch their attention over the gangs of lads who choke up the bar counter. I've been twice, I won't be rushing back, they had a reasonable selection of gins behind the bar. As a lover of Gin, I certainly wouldn't rate this place, it suits some people's needs, but the name is misleading. read more

I love this place! I was not a believer in Gin, but this place does it justice. Gin Palace is great for drinks...a bit pricey, but an amazing atmosphere. You have to try the nachos - absolutely delicious. I had the French Martini - which was the special - and although it was more than I was willing to spend on a cocktail it was delicious and I kept going back for more. If you are in Dublin city center, definitely give this place a try. read more

We went there on Wednesday before the concert. Decent place for people in my parents age. I order hot spiced rum and there was no alcohol (taste like a water with honey and lemon). Prices are average, nothing ether wow or blah. But ye, don't order any hot alcohols, you will be drinking how spiced water. read more

The entrance is very non-descript. It's an ugly grey metal door with VCC randomly applied, so if you didn't know what was there it would look industrial. There is a door bell to the left of the door. Ring it a few times and someone will open the door and check you in. With reservations they do make you wait until exactly that time so don't be alarmed. Your table is already selected for you. The inside is loungy and very swanky. Both times we had extremely comfortable chairs. Service is immaculate. Their menu is massive, very well published and explained. Our servers were both able to explain exactly what the cocktail may taste like as some of the combos might blow your mind. I had the Dirty Wizard which sounds odd on based on ingredients but was delicious. I also had the Purple Pearl which was my perfect cocktail. My husband tried a few different whiskey concoctions and he was impressed by all of them. I highly recommend adding VCC to your Dublin itinerary!

They are situated in the base of a sister restaurant, so from the main entrance the only give away is the neon "shhh" sign that sits over the stairway. Once at the base of the stairs an unassuming bookcase/shelf appears. This honestly got us, as we had no clue this was the entrance at first. We wandered around and into the bathrooms expecting some cool bathroom stall entrance. It wasn't until someone came out from behind the bookcase that we figured it out! We did let the "door" close and played with the art on the wall, including the bronze pig head, which turned out to be the hidden lever! Legit already wowed before entering! Upon entry, you are legit transported into a small speakeasy with a few high tops, a cozy bar and a small dining room beyond the second archway. The walls are stone, the lighting is dim and moody, the woods are heavy, and the vibes are immaculate! We sampled a few house-made cocktails, got an appetizer and a few main dishes. Spent a total of close to 2 hours, which is standard and actually timed. Which makes sense and I like, it keeps things moving, on time and allows plenty of time to soak it all in! The Jolly Roger and Espresso Martini were my cocktails for the night. There was a clear theme with both, as stout and espresso were highlights in both. For the app, we went with the fritto misto, which is a combination of fried cheese and veggies. Our mains were both pasta dishes. They were light and simple, yet complex and robust. They were tasty and impressive! Service was stellar from entry to exit. The host's, bartenders and our server were all top notch, friendly, helpful and a joy to interact with! Oh, I do highly recommend reservations! They are a small and very in demand spot, so trying to walk-in is a bit risky. Overall, we absolutely loved our evening at The Blind Pig! The only reason why I am giving it three stars is that it would not be my scene and the music is too loud but it's a great place to pre-game it with some cheap well made cocktails before hitting another spot.

The entire joint was booked out, including the bar seats. Disappointed, we left & found another cocktail bar within walking distance. Out of curiosity, we checked out the 9 Below Open Table, & saw that there was availability in just over an hour. We decided to book 2 spots & wait it out. When we returned, the host remembered us & remembered that we prefer to sit at the bar. They showed us to our reserved spots - at the bar! We first admired the interior. Underground! Somehow low-lit, archaic, well-lit, & modern, all at the same time. Lively but not noisy pop music was playing - Dua Lipa, etc. The actual physical menu was so cool. It was a beautifully designed picture-book inspired menu, with each cocktail having its own separate & artful page. I'm looking back on the menu & I think the drink I ordered was "Fight Club" (Don Julio Blanco, mango, Falernum, camomile, lemon, & sugar) & it was phenomenal. The bartender scorched a hot pepper & carefully placed it on top, which MADE the drink. He also made my partner a Paper Plane with Scotch. Delicious. Speaking of the bartender, he was a real champion. Such a nice guy with a bit of flair to his style of bartending. We really enjoyed chit chatting with him. It also seemed like the staff really vibed with each other & everyone was having a good time. Great atmosphere. The next time we're back in Dublin we will definitely be back to 9 Below Bar.

Let me description of the place sound like a slam. We had a really great time. There is a deep menu of drinks made from all kinds of stuff. We ordered all kinds of stuff and every drink was excellent. The prices were very reasonable as well. We sat on some comfy couches and there was a DJ plating some really great down tempo, yet still dance-able music. The hours flew by as we had an excellent time.

They do have a nice selection of drinks though it's not as huge as some bars, but it's a nice place for a Port or Whiskey. I am a little put off by the staff, but it depends on who's there. Sometimes they're fine, not going out of their way to be nice, but decent. Though, one particular bartender is... tactless and comes off rude. Ordering from her is off putting because she doesn't really listen or answer your questions. It's too bad because when we come in and see that she's working the bar it kind of puts you off. It doesn't stop us though because we love the ambience and cozy feel to this place. Definitely somewhere you'd bring people visiting because the style and mood is hard to match.

But Yelp calls it "No Name Bar." Late at night, this is the place to be. The music is loud, the place is hoppin', and everyone is movin' and groovin'. It's LOADS of fun, I can't express that enough - but it DOES get packed! If you are staying in Kelly's Hotel up above it, you MUST visit at least once to see what all the fuss is and why your hotel room is rattling until 2 or 3 in the morning. They have DJs playing every Friday and Saturday "from 10pm until late" as it's billed on their website. It's connected to the hotel, so if you are staying there, you can just head down the stairs to enter. From street level, use the entrance with the snail hanging above the black door with the address number of "3" on the door. It's so easy to walk past and not notice it. The entrance is JUST past the sidewalk patio for L'Gueuleton.

The bar itself was truly stunning, it was lit by candle light giving a real intimate feel, even though there were 10 of us there. It kind of felt like a secret club. Really top notch in my opinion, I wish there were more places like this in my City.

They have done a great job on it- I like the uplit bar and the brick walls. My favourite thing though are the upholstered chairs- they are lovely ! I have to say in general the staff here are very friendly too- even when its busy. I think the bar has become busier since they opened the first floor as Taste at Rustic. This has made the bar busier which is good for them. I dont like it as much though as it can take a while to get a drink. I had the Elderflower Martini tonight and it was lovely. My friends Martini with Passionfruit was a hit with him. This is a great place for a quick drink before dinner here or elsewhere.
