My friends and I (group of five adults) came in right after opening on Nov. 30, 2025. We placed our food order - 5 entrees and a ginger man platter for us to share. We then proceeded to wait almost 2 hours altogether for our food to arrive. After about 45min, our server explained that they didn't put the order in. Then about 30min later, a completely different server explained to us that our food is taking so long because we ordered too much food. The only reason we didn't get up and leave is that during the Christmas season, they require you to pay upfront rather than starting a tab. We couldn't really leave because we already paid. I thought this was easily one of the most baffling service experiences I've ever had. I don't understand the concept of my food taking almost 2 hours to arrive because I ordered too much. When did the onus of preparing the food in a timely manner get placed on the customer? read more

Very good service and outstanding fish and chips. First time having mushy peas with a meal and they were fantastic as well. Had a nice red ale with the meal and it was also top notch. Right by our hotel which was convenient especially with jet lag will be back for a pint on our return trip. read more

My best pup experience while in Dublin. Next to our hotel everyday it was queued up and packed. Then on a Sunday it was bustling but not such a mad house so we went in and were able to secure a place to sit in short time. This place was miserable, the food was outstanding (but I wouldn't recommend the chicken tenders) everyone else had the pies and they were incredible! The hostess was amazing, but our first server was absolutely horrible... He was such a jerk. The Ginger Man has a nice inviting atmosphere and very accommodating and friendly wait staff. A nice bar area with some stand up tables are available as you walk in. I was seated in the nice room off to the side which had a (non operational) fireplace. Out front there is outdoor seating complete with radiant heating, nice. I ordered the fish and chips platter and was pleasantly surprised to receive a whole fillet and a nice little bucket of chips. The fish was phenomenal and the tarter sauce was the best I have had. Colored by one painful experience, arriving in a bright yellow and red Ecuador zippy to find my friends couldn't get in because "there were too many suits", I always had The Ginger Man down as a bit of a yuppy pub. They seem to arrive en masse and the place goes from nought to max occupancy in under twenty minutes. However, this talk of €3.50 pints has forced me to reconsider and re-assess. If you want to know why pubs are called the living room of the Irish: go here :-) It felt pretty much like a living room in here. We arrived at around 9pm on a Thursday and stayed downstairs for just one pint (there is such a thing! ;-)) No TV on and the music was at a level where you could hear it if you listened but you didn't have to raise your voice when talking - so exactly how I think it should be. The interiour consists of paintings of Dublin, a huge fireplace, mirrors you could have in your home and book shelves. And one entrance door irritated: You looked at it's outside from the inside without being able to reach it anyhow (see picture). Just a funny little twist. Looking at my other reviews you might have noticed that I do like the odd craft beer so obviously I liked it here even more due to that/ Hope to be back soon with more time - as it was only a brief visit this time I'll go with four stars. read more

The ginger man pub is a great local pub which I am happy to say was the first pub which I visited when I moved to Ireland. It always seems to have a great atmosphere and crowds start filling up out the door starting early in the evening Thursday through Saturday. I always hear singing coming from here on late evenings despite there never being a band, always a good sign. They have this unique outdoor alcove outside the main enterance. It is outside and so there will be smoking, but it is a nice little spot otherwise. They have great food for a pub and I would go back just for the food. This is a super hard one for me... I'm a fan, yes but it's so hard to put my finger on why, in that, this would not be everyone's cup of tea but jezz, I always end up enjoying myself in here and even when I drop by for 1 drink... I nearly always end up staying for another one or two, or 5... eeekkk! Saturday just gone, went in for 1 was having just a chilled out drink, the barman was super friendly and bantered with us now and again and it just had good vibes about it, of course the add american tourist panicking over how to tip here in Ireland is always entertaining... ha ha, so with some hotels surrounding this place, there's always tourists coming/going but it also seems to grab some locals too. The barman put on the FA cup final and all of a sudden my 1 drink, quick 30 minute stop turned into a 3 hour and you can guess how many drinks ;-) They serve food here, I've only ever had a bowl of chips but after what I seen coming out of the kitchen last weekend, I'm definitely going to pair my next visit here with some eats. Genuinely my favorite pub in Dublin!!! We stayed at a hotel nearby so decided to check it out for dinner. We had the chicken curry which was okay (I would not recommend ordering it) and a bucket of wings which was DELICIOUS. The wings were the perfect amount of crisp and the perfect amount of sauce. What really made my experience at the pub was the live music from a man with a beautiful voice covering covers that range from classic old school songs to Eminem!!!! Visited The Ginger Man while in Dublin on a business trip. There are tons of pubs in the city, but this one caught my interest because of the name. I really liked the vibe of this place because the staff was so friendly and helpful. They gave my group a nice little table in the main room, and the bartender let me sample the different beers they had on tap. My group was planning just to grab some beers and head somewhere else for dinner, but we ended up dining there for dinner and I was happy I did, I ordered the beef and Guiness pie, which came with mashed potatoes and brown soda bread. This meal was really tasty! So filling and hearty, exactly what I wanted on a cold rainy night. We also ordered the spicy chips to share, which were really delicious though not spicy at all. One of my regular haunts during my college days (so don't be surprised if you find students from the Engineering end of Trinity College in one of the corners), the Ginger Man has many hats. Most of downstairs is a traditional "old man" bar, wooden furniture, copious nooks and crannies, etc as well as an area with a number of tables for larger groups. Upstairs is a good function room for private parties, etc In recent times, they've started stocking Franciscan Well's craft beers such as Friar Weisse and Writers Red (which I'm fairly sure is Rebel Red) on tap. Good for a few after work pints, somewhere quiet to catch up with an old friend, or just a sneaky pint if you missed a train from Pearse Station nearby. read more

Brian Hurley the bartender/manager is awesome. He is extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the culture, beers, and general craic! Pints are a great price too. I had been meaning to get to The Gingerman for a while and I took the opportunity during the recent Flora women's mini marathon to drop in for a pint. What a lovely place and to be only charged €3 for a pint of Friarweisse (Franciscan well brewery in Cork) was a bonus especially for a Dublin city centre pub. There are hidey holes all over the place including a sort of snug. The toilets are also very clean and modern which is always a good thing. I will have to get back there again some time, especially when I am not on my own. read more

I watched the match here this past weekend (Ireland v France) and the staff were beyond friendly, even though it was crowded and I was in the way, standing at the end of the bar pass thru. Decided to try it for dinner. Had the wings and chili beef. The wings were simply amazing. Full of flavour and not spicy. I like spice and heat but will always choose flavour over those. The chili beef was the perfect mains for a cold day. Nicely species chili beef with the perfect amount of cumin. Served with - get this - rice, chips, and tortilla crisps!!! The chips were skin on and perfectly cooked. The crisps were out of. Bag but perfect for dipping. I'm calling this chili beef three ways. The three options on a plate are genius. And filling. OMG was it filling. And Beer. Had two jars of the wheat. Nice but prefer their red. The house beer is really good. Don't mistake this place for a tourist venue. When a match is in you'll find it full of locals. Have dinner (or lunch). Have some beer. Chat with the friendly staff. Chat with Glen. Super friendly and. Good service. Sit upstairs.
