Stopped by again for some hot tea. They really have the perfect atmosphere to relax, eat, & drink! Every meal that passed us looked amazing. They tea is served in a stainless pot that keeps the water hot for a very long time. Just what we needed after a long day of walking Dublin in the wind & rain. You can see our meal in the pictures from our previous visit! GREAT FOOD!!!! Most Sincerely!

Friendly service and great Irish food. I enjoyed the Bangers and Mash with its crispy sausages & a rich flavor. My wife ordered the chowder and it was so light & creamy!

We stopped in here for dinner, as it was conveniently located. Our waiter was very nice and efficient. We ordered a Guinness and our meal, and all came out quickly. My Irish stew was delicious and flavorful. Mr B's fish and chips were bland and soft. The quest for crispy, tasty Irish fish and chips continues.

Glorious!

I will never forget Madigan's. It was here where I have seen the light and had a life-changing, earth-shattering experience - My first authentic pint of Guinness. My friends and I came here on our first night (a Saturday night at around 8) for dinner. The only thing that annoyed me was that we were never greeted by anyone. Since we didn't know if it was standard to seat yourself in Dublin (not that there were any tables available), we kind of just walked awkwardly to the back and loitered by the bar. We finally got a waiter's attention and he just told us that it would be a wait, though he didn't say how long. So we decided to sit by the bar. The bartender (who I'm guessing was also the manager) was nicer - told us it would be a 15 minute wait or so. So that's when we ordered our drinks and my view of Guinness was changed forever. The food - I ordered fish and chips. It was pretty good considering the only fish and chips I've ever had was at this really disgusting shack of a place in Brooklyn. Came with mushy peas which I was not a fan of. If I were to go back to Dublin, I probably wouldn't go to this restaurant again. It didn't stand out to me or anything but the only reason why I'm writing a review is because I want to remember this place as the place that gave me my first Guinness. I guess it's back to shitty wet bar rag Guinness now that I'm back home. And the search for the perfect pint in NYC continues. Stay tuned!

Great local pub on O'Connell's Street Lower serving some great Guinness. Came here one night for dinner after a day's outing and working up an appetite. I ordered their Madigan Tower Burger: 13.95 8oz prime Irish Steak burger, melted red cheddar, beef tomato, baby gem leaf, crispy smoked bacon, topped with Madigan homemade burger sauce & served with a spiced curved chip. My friend ordered the Sweet Potato, Courgette & Cauliflower Burger: 13.95 (Vegan) with crushed Avocado, fresh chilli jam, salted tomato & baby gem leaf. Their burger was delicious, even though you can't tell them to cook it medium in Ireland. The beef just tastes so fresh and yummy. I could eat one of these burgers every night for dinner no problem. I'm obsessed with their "what I usually call french fries" but instead they're called chips. They were just so perfect and hot the way they came out, you wouldn't even need a dipping sauce to eat them with. Definitely finger-licking good. Ok, now I'm drooling thinking of them. Our server was very nice and was even from Canada if I can remember correctly. Our food and drinks came out quickly and we also didn't have a wait to be seated. The restaurant is long and large with ample seating. I'll definitely be back for those chips next time I'm in Dublin.

I had my first ever Guinness here. So this pub will have a special place in my heart and will be remembered dearly. Staff was very friendly, guests a little bit on the "old" side but the entire atmosphere was typical for a pub which is located at one of Dublin´s main streets. Stopping here for a quick pint is recomandable.

The waiter was a very nice young Irish gentlemen. He and my husband discussed sports before we placed our order. We both ordered fish and chips. The fish was fried to perfection but bland. The fries were cooked to perfection but also bland. We did use malt vinegar, which seems to be a common condiment for fries. On the day we dined for lunch, the crowd was at a minimum. Customer service was great. This is a seat yourself pub.

First beer in Dublin. Damn right that's a Guinness I'm sippin' on!

This pub is pretty good, I can't say that I enjoyed the food that much. The beer and service was fantastic, no complaints there. It was always a happening place in the evenings, a fair crowd. One thing I did notice was a lot of foreigners. As this pub is on one of the main streets adjacent to many hotels, hostels, etc, there tends to always be a high concentration of foreigners and regulars. I wouldn't say it was my favorite pub, but I did enjoy a breakfast that I had here one more. A good Irish breakfast is always enjoyable. One things you must try at any Irish breakfast place is black & white pudding!

On Connolly street you don't expect to find the best pub in the world and Madigans certainly isn't the best pub in the world. But it also isn't the worst. The barmen were attentive and quick with a joke; the food that came out of the kitchen certainly looked decent although we didn't sample any; the chairs at the bar were comfortable; not too highly priced. But that was about the best of it. Apart from the overwhelming smell of urine there was not much else to report. Seen better, seen worse.

This place was the first stop at many restaurants I ate at in Dublin. The first day I would have rated it super high...but I have concluded that I was just super hungry after sitting in 4 different airports in 3 different countries for 24+ hours (thank you United and Continental Airlines). The waiter was probably the most friendly server I have ever had in ANY country I have been in. He was much older, but seemed to love his job and the people around him. He totally gets 5 stars. The Traditional Irish Stew was pretty good...but nothing spectacular. The portion was out of this world and I wasted like 12 USD on the freaking largest bowl of stew a person could imagine. It paired well with a Guinness, however. It is located in a very convenient location, but it is definitely not the place to go to get a true "Irish" feel. The whole time I was in there I was surrounded by tourists from Scandinavian countries. Overall, pretty good and reasonably priced.

Had a fabulous evening or last night in Dublin. We sat at the bar and spent an hour talking with William and the rest of the bar staff. Very friendly and welcoming. Great atmosphere, good food and am absolutely fabulous staff.

Traditional Irish pub vibes. Staff is nice and drinks are good. There's some outside seating. Don't have any food so I can't attest to that.

The service was excellent as I had the potato soup which was delicious and cheap. My wife and daughter split the Irish rolls and they fell in love with them. It was a great experience and I would definitely highly recommend anyone in Dublin to visit this place. Tucked down Dame Court just off Dame Street, The Stag's Head is one of those rare pubs that feels genuinely historic rather than designed to look old. The building dates to the late 1800s, and the interior retains the ornate features of a classic Victorian "gin palace"--rich carved wood, stained glass, brass rails, and a warm, glowing bar that feels wonderfully preserved. We stopped in around 4:30 pm, which turned out to be a perfect time to visit. There were other patrons enjoying drinks and food, but the atmosphere was calm and relaxed rather than loud or rowdy. It felt like the kind of place where locals drop in for a quiet pint on their way home from work before the evening crowd arrives. The staff were excellent--friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good (we failed to take photos because we were too busy enjoying it). As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see the Impossible burger front and center on their menu; it was deliciously prepared with guacamole on a brioche bun, and not an afterthought on the menu. My companions both chose the Irish Beef Burger, and said it was excellent. One thing to know: this is a traditional Victorian pub, so cocktails aren't really part of the program. Expect beer, wine, or spirits rather than mixed drinks. In a place like this, that actually feels exactly right. Other pubs do serve mixed drinks. Between the history, the ambience, the quality of the food, and the wonderful staff, The Stag's Head is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've experienced a real piece of Dublin.

This resulted in us being cooped for a day in a half in our Airbnb, since most of Dublin shut down. Businesses of all kinds were closed. The cabin fever had set in. My girlfriend and I were itching to explore the pub scene or any scene for that matter! We decided to layer up and go for a walk...in 32 degree weather and a foot of snow. Hey we're Floridians, we were up for some change! Lo and behold, we look up at the pub around the corner from our Airbnb, and the doors are open. We see Dubliners out front smoking cigarettes, joshing around, happy to be out in the world. We nearly sprinted into The Back Page, which is a fantastic name for a pub by the way. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. Customers were relaxed, the bartenders were chipper, and there was lots of wiggle room to sit or stand throughout the two story venue. Local beers and local whiskies filled the menu, and the prices were very reasonable. Attached to the bar is a pizza joint, I assume they are under the same ownership. We ordered the Sonia O'Sullivan pie and Bruschetta and both were excellent. Having Italy on the horizon in just a matter of days, we were not expecting 5 star pizza in Dublin. To our surprise, the texture and overall flavor of the pie were absolutely phenomenal. Full of life, cheerfulness, and exuberance at The Back Page. Recommend to anyone!

First off i have to mention this is a proper inner-city 'does what it says on the tin' Dublin pub, that gives modern Ireland the finger!!! You wont find the celtic tiger roaring in here, to be honest its a bit of a dive bar, nor will you be expected to pay 5 or 6euro a pint. The regulars are mainly local aul-lads (from the nearby flats) that live for their few pint, they are salt of the earth people and characters to say the least, and dont be alarmed if you find a few having a sneaky fag down the back, its a bit of given in this place!! if you planning on visiting joxers, it is well worth going on a sunday afternoon as there is a fantastic traditional group playing from 12pm, a raging open fire, and porter flying like theres no tomorrow... **in my eyes this pub gets 5 stars everytime, (good guinness, pool table, large screen for matches, big open fire, bita atmosphere, decent music, smoking ban???) but it is not a going to be for everyone and for those i will say stick to Temple Bar...
