Outside the pub- pretty typical look in the city centre

This was the first pub we went to after a long flight from the states and it was by pure accident as it was about to start pouring rain so we popped in for a bite and a dink around 5pm. The pub was already moderately packed and the front table/section had a live musician so it was a bit louder than normal. We moved our way to the back of the restaurant where we saps few available tables and tried to get seated. Unfortunately we were told that they were reserved for a 6:30. I was disappointed because that was an hour and a half away and surely we would have been able to eat and drink in that amount of time. We ended up finding a small bar area in the corner and a few stools so some of us could sit. Getting drinks were easy as all you have to go is walk up to the bar. Getting food was a challenge, especially since the server said she would come take our order after we settled. I ended up having to flag down an older gentleman, who I can only assume was I'm the bar owner. He was kind enough to send over a server to look after us. The food was outstanding and came out rather quick. I suspect this is due to a pretty set menu offering. The bar quickly got crowded from all the passersby who were seeking shelter from the heavy rain, but once that passed it felt like locals and a handful of tourists were left there, which was nice and gave you more room to breathe and talk to your group without shouting or getting bumped into because of the foot traffic. I'm very glad we stumbled upon this pub and will keep it on our list to visit again the next time we're in Dublin.

I can't give this a 5/5 stars because we didn't spend too much time here, but a buddy of mine and I came here for straight corned beef because we couldn't find a place that served just that. We were actually supposed to go to a carvery but there wasn't one in the Temple Bar area. We spoke to a local and she said those are the best placed to get real corned beef but we couldn't make it that far out of the city. Anyway, onto it. Decent spot, looks like all the other kind of pubs/restaurants out there. The service was great, no doubt about that, but on to the food. Just the corned beef, itself was really good, and I'm not sure what kind of sauce was on it but it was really good. I expected the cabbage in Ireland to be better, but it was alright.

Yummmmmm! You must try this place. Affordable with great .

I recommend this place. The shepherd's pie was so good. We took shelter here from the rain and we loved it.

Yum! Within walking distance from Abigail Hostel and a great place for a pint and food. The bartender was attentive, talkative and I'm going to say it, damn! Good looking. I'm single and I have eyes. What can one say? Anyhow, I had my beautiful dark pint of Guinness and it just didn't disappoint.

On our first night in Ireland, we walked around Temple Bar for nearly an hour checking out menus and such, and were ultimately drawn into Fitzgerald's by the prices. It offers some of the cheapest traditional Irish fare in all of Ireland! Our server was incredibly friendly and helpful. I ordered Shepherd's Pie, and it was marvelous. The portion was smaller than most restaurant servings (which explains the cheaper prices, most likely), but in my opinion, that's a GOOD thing. We were so pleased with our first visit here that we made several more stops throughout the week. We loooooved the drink menu, and we double-loved the prices. Five euro for a cocktail? Are you kidding me? That's almost unheard of in Dublin! The cosmo and mojito are both fantastic. By the time we left Dublin, we had become so emotionally attached to this cozy bar that we all purchased Fitzgeralds T-shirts. I wear mine all the time. :)

Anyone who left less than 5 stars is lying. The Beef and Guinness Pie is EVERYTHINGGGGG. A local clued me in on this spot and since then, my visits to Dublin always include this spot. There is live music and bartenders are friendly. It is clean and you just need to go!!!

Stopped in because I'm a Fitzgerald after all and not only was the food and service great The customer service was top notch! Stop in for a pint and a bite to eat.

Fitzgeralds was a basic pub that seemed to mostly cater to tourists; the prices were average for 'a pint' and the crowd was mostly European.

Tucked down Dame Court just off Dame Street, The Stag's Head is one of those rare pubs that feels genuinely historic rather than designed to look old. The building dates to the late 1800s, and the interior retains the ornate features of a classic Victorian "gin palace"--rich carved wood, stained glass, brass rails, and a warm, glowing bar that feels wonderfully preserved. We stopped in around 4:30 pm, which turned out to be a perfect time to visit. There were other patrons enjoying drinks and food, but the atmosphere was calm and relaxed rather than loud or rowdy. It felt like the kind of place where locals drop in for a quiet pint on their way home from work before the evening crowd arrives. The staff were excellent--friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good (we failed to take photos because we were too busy enjoying it). As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see the Impossible burger front and center on their menu; it was deliciously prepared with guacamole on a brioche bun, and not an afterthought on the menu. My companions both chose the Irish Beef Burger, and said it was excellent. One thing to know: this is a traditional Victorian pub, so cocktails aren't really part of the program. Expect beer, wine, or spirits rather than mixed drinks. In a place like this, that actually feels exactly right. Other pubs do serve mixed drinks. Between the history, the ambience, the quality of the food, and the wonderful staff, The Stag's Head is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've experienced a real piece of Dublin.

My husband and I stopped by for dinner and I ordered a caesar salad and their fish chowder. The caesar was great but my gosh the fish chowder and accompanying brown bread rocked my socks. So, much so, that I did what I never do--I revisited this spot more than once on the same trip (so many places to explore I almost never do this!). That fish chowder is craveable. They do live music on occasion as well and so we were able to enjoy that while sipping our Guinness. The prices are reasonable and the service is friendly. From the…read moreoutside, it plants itself confidently among Dublin's historic streets with a façade that promises hearty fare and good pints; inside, the space is warm and inviting with dark wood, exposed brick, beautiful murals, and comfortable seating that encourages lingering. My party of six walked in on a Wednesday night at around 7:30pm; at that time, the restaurant was about half-full, but filled up over the course of our meal. The menu has plenty of options ranging from healthy salads to traditional Irish dishes to your standard hearty pub fare. Drinks are also fairly priced here, and they have a good range of ales and lagers on tap (and of course, the classic Guinness). I opted for their Rustic Dublin Coddle (€20.50), which is a sizeable bowl of warming soup with two chargrilled, tender pork sausages, smoky bacon, soft potatoes, and onion, served with toasted sourdough bread. I appreciated the clean taste of the soup (made with an herbed chicken broth), which cut the rich fattiness of the sausage and bacon. I do wish the soup had been served with a more traditional Irish brown bread, but the sourdough was tasty nonetheless. Another great dish was the Waterloo Prime Irish Beef Burger (€19), which is a large patty of juicy, prime Irish beef served atop a toasted bun, with red onions, baby gem lettuce, pickled gherkins, and a tangy smoked Dublin cheddar. Some friends ordered the Superfood Salad (€15), which has a plethora of fresh vegetables and grains, but they noted it was quite bland, even with the French dressing. Yes, it's a bit on the pricey side for a pub, but I find Waterlooo Bar unique in that the atmosphere feels classic but lively: you get that laid-back Dublin pub energy with a hint of sophistication that makes it great for both casual meals and nights out. The food is solid if not stellar, the vibe is fun, and prices are reasonable for the area; a satisfying pick for an Irish pub dinner.
