Great place right around the corner from our hotel! The cauliflower was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The stew was delectable. Our waitress was VERY helpful and the place had a wonderful pub feel to it. Couldn't have asked for more for our first official Irish meal out!

Live music and great drinks! This was a great find! We stopped to have a drink and listen to some music. The music was pop not traditional but the singer was great.

Guinness, Irish Stew, soda bread, and delicious Irish butter. About 30euro

Irish stew can't be beat here. The bar man was very friendly and service was prompt. Very warm and easy ambiance. A cross between a horse stable and a pub. Comfortable nooks, lots of seating. Will go back for sure. A bit pricy, but that's normal? For the city.

I'm staying next door at a Camden Court Hotel for a work trip. On a Saturday night, tonight, when my colleagues were inside and told me to join for a drink, I walked up wearing the shirt from work, in the photo I'm listing. An employee was in front of the door and not moving, I asked if there was space inside, he looks me over and says "no there's not, have a good night". I don't want to assume why I was turned away, but I do know my colleagues mentioned it wasn't so full for a Dublin Pub that someone couldn't come in. This left a bad taste in my mouth.

It has a history in Dublin. A landmark so to speak. Outside it's unassuming but the interior is wonderfully old, late 1800s, with multiple floors and multiple rooms. It's a live and boisterous atmosphere. Historic and a tourist destination. My recommendation is to go for a beer / whiskey and forget ordering food. Non of our dishes were anyway special, in fact mediocre. Go for beer or whiskey as two of our three cocktails were sub par. My Irish Manhattan made w Powers Rye was exciting to order and what I received was a watered down mess. The Whiskey Sour tasted very weird, as if made with a sour mix. The waiter brought out one persons meal and then we waited 15 minutes for the other orders. The waiter came around and asked us to pay up before any of us had close to finished which is just bizarre for anywhere else. So as for atmosphere I give it 4 stars, food 2stars and service 2 stars.

This pub is awesome, they play 90s music which was awesome, but the overall vibe of this place is super chill. We were greeted as soon as we went in by the bartender, to get our drinks out of the way and the sat so that we could eat. Super efficient, because it gave us time to look over the menu. They have your typical pub food, but their flavors are amazing. I would definitely suggest the Smoked cheese BBQ burger. Overall I love this place.

This place was on our list from a travel blog for being one of the oldest bars in Dublin (1649?). It is a beautiful old pub with lots of beer options (we got a Guinness of course). They also have a large whiskey selection.

Service was good , went during busy hour . Had to wait a little , but food and drinks were good and the waitress was working on the floor by herself. She did very well for one person.

Guinness, Irish pale ale, steak pie with mash, etc

While the service was great here the food left a lot to be desired. I ordered a steak and Guinness pie and my husband had a burger. The pie was not at all what I expected, which could just be because I'm American. I was hoping for more of a traditional steak pie, rather than this one which just came with a bit of puff pastry sat on top. The mash had barely any flavor. Overall needed a bit of seasoning. My husband said his burger was wonderful.

Huge spacious typical irish pub, very nice to watch a game with good tap drinks and food..quick efficient service

The Bleeding Horse isn't a pub, it's a landmark. The place has been here since horses were the primary mode of transport, to the effect that nobody who's actually from Dublin knows the name of the street it's on. It's just the left turn at the Bleeding Horse. Expect lots of tourists, which can be good or bad depending on your perspective. Quality smoking area by the by, it's 'wet' proof.

I had the questionable pleasure of being at The Bleeding Horse to witness Kerry slaughtering Dublin in last weekend's GAA quarter final. Not a pretty sight for all you Dubs out there (my commiserations). However I have to say I was impressed with how well the locals handled the loss... When I worked in a bar in England I used to have whole pints thrown at me if England lost an important match, but the lads here were a lot more restrained than all that. If the Dubs' performance ever stooped to an excruciating low (and that it did, several times), yer man in the Dubs jersey would simply take himself outside for a 'moment of calm'. Very civilised. Other than the GAA whitewash, The Bleeding Horse is mighty good craic for a pint or two or ten. It's a big hit with the tourists, with its Arthur Guinness 'pour-your-own-pint' tables and the large wall hanging of Arthur himself. There are lots of nooks and crannies in which to ensconce yourself with a pint of the black stuff, and by all reports, the bald bar tender here pours some of the best Guinness in Dublin.

Most excellent Irish Stew!

The authentic Victorian setting, the Victorian mahogany fittings, the mosaic marble tiled floors and granite tabletops, the mahogany bar, capped with red Connemara marble, follows the classic Victorian architectural pattern. The staff are helpful, friendly and patient since their accent is hard to understand sometime. My 1st beer and 1st Irish food, all I can say is what a meal, just simple delish. Being here is just a wondrous experience, the place is cosy, warm and the friendly of the people. So glad I picked this place as my first of Dublin.

Tucked down Dame Court just off Dame Street, The Stag's Head is one of those rare pubs that feels genuinely historic rather than designed to look old. The building dates to the late 1800s, and the interior retains the ornate features of a classic Victorian "gin palace"--rich carved wood, stained glass, brass rails, and a warm, glowing bar that feels wonderfully preserved. We stopped in around 4:30 pm, which turned out to be a perfect time to visit. There were other patrons enjoying drinks and food, but the atmosphere was calm and relaxed rather than loud or rowdy. It felt like the kind of place where locals drop in for a quiet pint on their way home from work before the evening crowd arrives. The staff were excellent--friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good (we failed to take photos because we were too busy enjoying it). As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see the Impossible burger front and center on their menu; it was deliciously prepared with guacamole on a brioche bun, and not an afterthought on the menu. My companions both chose the Irish Beef Burger, and said it was excellent. One thing to know: this is a traditional Victorian pub, so cocktails aren't really part of the program. Expect beer, wine, or spirits rather than mixed drinks. In a place like this, that actually feels exactly right. Other pubs do serve mixed drinks. Between the history, the ambience, the quality of the food, and the wonderful staff, The Stag's Head is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've experienced a real piece of Dublin.

A group of us wandered down the dark alley one Sunday afternoon, a little anxious about what we might discover... Pleasantly surprised to find ourselves inside a Sleeping Beauty-like cavern of candlelit wonder, we stopped to marvel over the interior before giving the solitary bar man his rush of the century. The place was empty before we arrived, but luckily we'd brought a large enough group to make the entire place our own. The candelabras, mood lighting and high, domed ceilings make this place enchantingly atmospheric, but let's not forget the practicalities. For fun early houses that serve already somewhat inebriated people, try The Chancery. The Wind Jammer is the type of early house that caters to shift workers and Gardaí from Pearse St coming off the night shift. Apart from a few couples the morning after the Trinity Ball, they wouldn't let in too many post-club revellers. The door is closed most early mornings, and they have a CCTV camera to give ya a good hard scrutinising before they'll let you in. The only time I was there for early pints, there was only one other group of young lads there and the barman looked like he was about to stop serving them. During the rest of the day and night, the Wind Jammer is a quiet pub frequented mainly by old, grumpy locals, who would sooner bite your head off than ask you the time of day. If you're really desperate for a drink and can't make it til half ten when the rest of the pubs open, by all means go to The Wind Jammer. Otherwise, there isn't that much else to recommend to it. Oh, one other thing. The Wind Jammer is the closest pub to Windmll Lane Studios, so U2 and The Saw Doctors among others have retired there for post-recording session pints over the years. Not the type of thing that would interest me, but sure it might interest you so I thought that I'd tack it on the end there
