The pub is basically split into two separate areas, accessed via different doors, and a corridor at the rear of the building. There is the Lounge, which serves food, and is more comfortable, and the Bar, which has a number of TV's, including a very large projector, with all of them showing sports.
Sports bars are not my thang (yip, purposely spelt that way), so I use to go the lounge quite a lot (lived around the corner from Kavanaghs for a year). There was always a good atmosphere, and very good service. Had some great chats, and made some friends there too. Not a young crowd, although saying that, there were often groups of late 20's/30 somethings in for a few drinks or glasses of wine (they have a decent wine menu btw).
There is also a bus stop very close by, with about 6 buses passing by, all going into town along the Malahide road, so as a spot for a quite drink before a night out, it's very good.
Not much sunlight makes it into the building, so I would not propose it as a sunny day spot... dark winter nights, perfect:-) read more
