Somewhat dismayed I must have shown it in my face as a charming waiter appeared with the specials which were all tempting but as it was lunch I settled for the homemade soup (beautifully fresh and not overly creamy) with a hearty triple layered toasted sandwich to soak it up with. Being slightly too early to order a beer (€3.50!) I settled for a couple of warming lattes to help defrost my fingers and mind. A fleeting visit, but one I'd gladly do again no matter the weather!

The reason I gave it a bad review is pretty simple. Some of the people in there are not very friendly. There was quite a few pill popping chungfelas throwing bar mats at chungwans across the floor. Scary stuff;-). That was probably harmless fun but as one of my friends said, I wouldnt like to get drunk in here.

Anyway, we arrived in Ireland today, struggled with the car rental place, got situated in our hotel room, and went out for an Irish stout and a meal. And despite Cian's review, we went here anyway because it had a 4.3 on google. This was our first meal ever in Ireland! My wife ordered fish and chips. She loved it and let me try some. It was excellent. I ordered the ribs. A knife was included with the cutlery. The knife was totally unnecessary. The ribs were tender and you can simply pull it apart. They were delicious. The Guinness was my first ever on tap. Now I see what the big deal is about a Guinness draught. We may need to return to Ireland just for that. Thank you Molloys for getting us off to a great start on our Irish "holiday" (we call it "vacation").

The nachos were gross. They don't make their own tortilla chips, they used prepackaged, Doritos style tortilla chips. The sour cream looked old and dry but it didn't smell bad and guac was not guac. The fajitas were not fajitas either. Just chunks of dry white chicken meat spread over the chips. I didn't really expect they would do nachos well but I was homesick for something from home. I was really let down. Service was just ok.

I guess there regular cook was off this evening but our food experience was just bad here. Maybe it's better on the weekend, maybe the burgers are better but. Steer clear of the rib-eyes, Caesar salad and chow mein. I am never coming back as you can only break my heart once.

One usually goes to a pub to drink with friends, and wouldn't expect much from the food offerings, but this place obviously puts a lot of thought and effort into their cooking, both in taste and in presentation. When we went to order a drink the service wasn't the best as the bartender took ages to serve us. As there wasn't many in the place I wondered what took him so long to serve. However the drinks were at a reasonable price and the upstairs bar had a big screen to watch the game on. I'll definitely be returning to watch another match up there soon.
