Staff was great. Got there at 5 pm when it opened for dinner. Food was fresh and very good. I had a chicken sandwich my daughter had chicken wings. Both really hit the spot. Presentation was nice food was super good. A definite step above regular pub food. Nice atmosphere too. read more

Classy Irish pub with upscale restaurant in the back. Affordable prices especially for the nice atmosphere and ambiance. I had the seafood risotto and my partner had the ribeye. The steaks come with fries, a side salad and an onion ring. The steak was cooked perfectly as ordered (rare). It was thin for American standards and a bit salty. The fries were great with the garlic dipping sauce. I ordered the risotto with only shrimp (did not want the fish or mussels). It was more like rice than risotto. Extremely salty. Great service, romantic and cozy atmosphere, good food. read more

Mulligans has an a traditional look, yet updated and refined inside. The service and the food were top notch. They have all the favorite pub fare, but also many delicious entrees to choose. I found the prices to be quite reasonable. I'll be back to Mulligans for sure. read more

We were going to go to the classy wine bar down the road but decided on Mulligans because my companion for the evening happened to share the surname and we thought it would be a good omen. Omens aside, the place is a gem! Behind that frosty exterior we discovered a swanky wine bar-esque joint that left the other wine bar for dead (mere conjecture, we didn't make it to the other place). Mulligans is tastefully decorated in soft grey hues, beautifully-patterned wallpaper and ornate chandeliers. Quite a leap from the dirty old man's pub you'd imagine if you just saw the exterior (it still baffles me that Irish pubs are so misleading from the outside). It even has a special lounge section called 'The River Bar' which is clearly intended for those in the upper echelons of society (so we steered well clear). We were in on a weeknight so there was only one guy manning the bar, but gosh was he doing a good job! Table service with a smile, phenomenal multi-tasking and excellent wine knowledge - who could ask for anything more?? read more

A new addition to Sandymount and indeed a welcome one! Mulligans have been with us now for nearly 2 years which in local terms still puts them in the 'new kids' category. The bar has a nice wee smoking area at the back and serves a great pint. They cover most of the big sporting events on their HUGE tv, on a rugby international afternoon, there's no where like it! ....huge bonus, if you fancy a packet of crisps just nip next door to tesco where you'll get them for half the price! read more

As of July 2018 they no longer service French toast. Their website has not been updated. Specifically came for the French Toast which is listed on the website. After sitting I am told they no longer serve French toast and do not have any to make by request. (Bread, eggs, sugar?) Server had a hard time understanding common restaurant terms in English, like eggs cooked over-easy or over-medium. She also didn't know anything about the menu from memory and had to go ask about everything. Service was otherwise relatively quick but overall the place seemed to be running at least one server short for the amount of customers. Nothing special about the bacon eggs. Eggs were over cooked, no seasoning on the potatoes, toast was over cooked. Butter was only given by request and was ice cold so not spreadable. At best an average pub breakfast. No real reason to eat here in the morning over any other restaurant. Stella Diner was much better in every way. read more

Beef burger is excellent, fresh brioche bun, tasty fresh chips, fish and chips really good, crispy and fresh. Great value. Desserts, locally made ice cream and amazing brownie ith salted maple ice cream are truly excellent. Nice decor, fun outside tables on Sandymount road if you can catch one. Great high quality food and a mix of young and old which is a sign of a genuinely great pub where I'm from...Newport Beach, California. We ordered a steak sandwich and a chicken w mashed potatoes dinner. Both amazing taste, and nice presentation. What was most enjoyable was watching two elderly gents walk in. One raised his hand displaying two fingers. The young bartender said Ok and within minutes the gents had two pints served at their table. This is livin'!!! read more

Had a very nice pint here the other night. the place was hopping, tons of people and the lead bartender seemed to know everyone. Most of the crowd seemed to be on the other side of 60 - not that there is anything wrong with that. I was there quite early on a Friday night. Also, my wife dared to order a plate of some mostly unrecognizable cooked food at the bar. We should have realized that food was best left for elsewhere when eyebrows were raised when we requested a menu. Still nice place for a drink. read more

Good pub, decent pub grub, good wine list, free wifi - what's not to like? I am definitely a fan - it's my default destination for a pint when we head to Sandymount. The staff is friendly, you won't be left waiting and if you get one of the sofas down the back it's a comfy place to have a quiet drink and a chat. read more

Not a bad pub but lacks any real atmosphere. It's kind of in a limbo between trendy-sporty-and-functional. The staff are very friendly (although some of them could use pint-pulling lessons) and they do decent grub. Their selection of drinks is pretty limited (just usual suspects). It'd be nice if there was a pub you could go to when there's a match on, that ISN'T actually showing the match and full of shouty football/rugby people. This isn't one though so if you're looking for a quiet pint when there's a match on steer clear. Also there was that weird fat aulfella who stared at me and said "Wha?!" when I came in, saw there were no seats, and headed for the door but that's neither here nor there. read more

I've only been twice so far, both times during the day. Once just for a coffee / meeting the other time for lunch. They have a lovely lunch menu I have to say. Lots of healthy choices too. I went for the smoked salmon bagel and a hot chocolate - both a good choice (even if not 100% healthy). Not much more to say other than the staff was lovely and I like the interior of the pub. Hopefully I'll get to go there for a pint or two soon too. read more

Despite the affluence, Dublin went without a swanky bar up until very very recently. Mulligans opened over two years ago, and is not really what you would call swanky, but is most definitely more upmarket and modern than its village rivals O'Reillys and Ryan's (aka Sandymount House). The front bar area has designer-y wallpaper and chandeliers, but retains a relaxed, pubby atmosphere. The back of the building is more loungey, though there's no division between the two sections. Down this end you'll find low tables, big comfy leather armchairs and a lovely open fire, which is rare for a Dublin pub these days. The back wall is one big window, through which is a small patio for the smokers to congregate. I'm not sure if it is still running, but I used to frequent their jazz sessions here on Sunday evenings, which was a relaxed wind-down to the weekend accompanied by music from some really talented young local jazz students. Unfortunately there's a lack of a younger crowd here most nights, perhaps due to its proximity to the city centre where a whole host of other, more exciting options await, but it is still a pleasant place for a drink. read more

This was the first proper Irish pub I came to fresh off the plane from the states and I have to say it was exactly what I needed. We were instantly greeted by a smiling bartender as we sat down at the bar for two pints of Guinness--naturally. It happened to be New Years Eve and we had plans to hang out in Temple Bar for the countdown, but we ended up here in a corner booth! Temple Bar was packed with young teens and wasn't our scene (we are in our early 30s). They kept the Guinness coming and we rang in the New Year with our new friends! We can't speak for the food but the beer and whiskey kept us warm and the atmosphere and service was great. This bar is located in the quieter neighborhood of Sandymount, two stops on the Dart from the City Centre. We appreciated being close, but not directly in, the hustle bustle of Dublin and this bar hit the perfect note. read more

Mulligan's came recommended by the the proprietor (Pat) of our B+B at The Aberdeen Lodge nearby. We popped in for a bite to eat on our first night, and have returned every night since then! Gerry, the bartender, and Niles, the waiter have taken excellent care of us, and really made us feel like we are right at home. Gerry and Niles have provided excellent guidance for our beverage selections, and the food here is really quite delicious...and that is a special compliment coming from me. I spent over 15 years in the fine dining industry, so I don't say that lightly. :) read more

After a hellacious travel trying to make it to Ireland, it was late and food was much needed. Wandered into Mulligans and was greeted by friendly staff, served cold local brews fast and made to feel welcomed despite being clear out of towners. Our server was great! Very helpful when browsing the menu and was spot on about what to get. Food was incredible and set the bar very high for the rest of the trip!
