Service and steak were fantastic. Super friendly and helpful bar staff. 12 oz ribeyes of Irish Hereford with a gravy boat of peppercorn sauce were to dye for. Only knock was it was defeating on an early Saturday evening. Right its a pub not a church, understood. It was really loud and at times made it hard to enjoy the fantastic cut of meat sitting before me. Otherwise a 5 for me. Typical pub style find a seat, order at the bar give them your table number and they'll find you with your food. Also, somebody took a trip to Buffalo as they nailed the wings! read more

We had just arrived in Malahide on the Tram, and had some hours to burn before we went to watch The Cure perform; therefore, we needed a pub to enjoy a drink. There was somebody advertising for Gibney's that was located in town, and decided to give it a go. Being that this was the day of The Cure at Malahide Castle -- with 65,000 people showing up to the town, space was a little limited at Gibney's. But we managed to find a table in a corner towards the front of the pub and enjoy a drink. As we enjoyed our Jameson in our corner table by a fireplace, the wooden interior made us feel right home amongst the other patrons. Gibney's is a cool pub to enjoy a drink in a small village like Malahide when you're in the area or passing through. read more

Staying near the Dublin airport we decided to check out Malahide, a seaside town that has character. With empty bellies we decided to try something local and Irish, hence Gibney's was our choice. Inside the interior is what you'd expect in a traditional Irish pub minus the sketchy part. The venue itself is huge, as when looking for the washroom, the staff was friendly enough to give me a walking tour of the whole place. As for food, keeping it classic I had their fish and chips, and oh boy was this huge!!! Complementing the dish I had a local Irish craft lager. Overall place is great and the prices are reasonable for portion you get. read more

This pub seems to have several parts, one is super poshy and age average is more 50. The music is loud and you can't talk much. The other part where we stayed is more calm, has a few more younger people and is more casual. It was the better option for pubs in Malahide. read more

This is what all pubs in Ireland should strive for! There are several small areas with bars and an outdoor area for smokers with bands playing. You can go for the singles flirting or chose a quaint corner to hobnob with the locals. Food is good, too! Especially the fish and chips. Yum. read more

Man, you want to talk about a lively bar... this place would put the grumpiest person in a chipper mood on their worst day! I will say, it was the loudest place that I have ever been to. But it just stoked me up! I didn't try any of the food, but I sure had some of their beer, it was Guinness. So you know... pretty much the same as every other bar. The only thing I can really speak of is the atmosphere. There was just an awesome vibe. Definitely seemed like a younger college age crowd at the main bar and a more calmer older crowd in the other part. The smoking area in the back was great and had a good patio which was nice for us as it was raining. Although I didn't smoke out here, I sure would have if I still smoked cigys. A grand pub centrally located in Malahide. It's there so long it's a bit of a local institution and as such always quite busy. It's a bit of a mish mash as they seem to extend in different areas. The front bar is lovely and quite like a quaint country pub but the back is not as appealing with one section so bright with fluorescent lights it's like an operating theatre. The barrooms are fairly dismal and unfortunately the place seems quite dirty. My friends are there last night and although I didn't eat it look like ok pub grub and they all seemed fairly happy read more

Best pub in Malahide. It has an old Irish feel. Great it the winter, cosy snugs with blazing fires and in the summer you can make use of the beer garden. There's live music most nights. The food is pub standard nothing fancy. Go for the atmosphere and craic(Irish for fun). Low corkage on some great wines in the off licence attached. read more

Cold, rainy day touring Malahide and locals told us this was the place to try. When we walked in, a wonderful, friendly, Irish woman gave up her table so our American family could sit by the fireplace and enjoy "the best table in the house." It truly was. We put our wet mittens and hats on the radiator, located by our table and ordered local Irish brew, & wonderful different foods. I had fish and chips. My husband had a burger. Our younger son had the seafood chowder and our other son chicken. We all ate well, warmed up and enjoyed the moment in this eclectic little piece of Malahide. It is truly a little gem and I love that it is a bit of a hodgepodge! You can tell they've expanded as they could and we didn't mind the strange decor. Definitely try this place!! read more

I love this pub, especially on Sundays. The atmosphere is great and there's an amazing rock band who play here every Sunday afternoon called Loose Change. If you like all the old rock and roll classics, the hair is going to stand up on the back of your neck listening to these guys rock it out!! The beer garden out the back is also a great place when the sun is shining. The staff are always friendly and efficient and its always seems to attract a nice crowd. It's also a fairly big place so ladies, you'll have no problem finding a seat when your heels start to hurt. Anytime I have out of town guest staying with me for the weekend, I take them here. Stumbled upon this place exploring the wonderful town of Malahide with some friends. We were extremely happy to have come in here as it was exactly the type of pub we were looking for. The chips and sandwiches were great, and the pints were just as good. In Malahide you can either have a meal at an expensive restaurant or at a pub. As far as pubs go, Gibney's is fine-- there is a decent selection of beers on tap, there are several different TV screens tuned to different channels, and the fish and chips are fine. It does, however, have a sour/stinky/beer/armpit smell when you first walk in, but you get used to it. read more

Yes it's crowded, yes the beer is overpriced, it doesn't have the best décor and most of the time it is impossible to find a seat, but what an ATHOSPHERE!! It has a great vibe day or night! Classic old Pub - and really one of the few options in Malahide, especially as the night gets later. The "bier garden" was a good size and I can see how it would be a great place to watch a match. They also have propane heaters out there for the cold. They only had music in the back part - which was closed off due to a private party. So very disappointed to see how this place has deteriorated. It's filthy, service is minimal at best, disinterested at worst. Soup must have been a Knorr's mix as I think were the mashed potatoes. f you're just there for drinks, probably still a great place but don't look for anything more. I really expected more on a Bank Holiday Monday, but I think the owners are living off the reputation and the high-priced spirits they sell in the pub and in the shop next door. Skip this one. My boyfriend's cousin had a gig here a few months ago so we headed down about 9 pm. To be honest, we had no idea what we were doing when we got there! We walked into what seemed like just a small old-man's pub, and I was puzzled, as I know many people who go on about Gibney's to no end, raving about how great it is! We were about to sit down, when the bartender noticed we seemed a bit out of place. We told him that we were there to see a friend play, and he told us that we were in the wrong area. Relieved, we headed past the toilets, and out through one of the doors. This door led us back outside, but this time we found ourselves in the cool beer garden in between the two areas of the pub. This was definitely where we parked our car! When we headed into the other part of the pub, we were finally where we had intended to be. It was a great night. I loved every minute of it! The band was great, acoustics sounded decent, and the selection of booze they had was suiting to my taste (I'm easily pleased so anywhere that serves Pear flavoured Kopparberg gets an extra plus)! The crowd was fun and the atmosphere was enjoyable. The bartenders were young and energetic! The only problem I found is that they don't have a late license, so just when we were getting ready to stay for the night we had to leave, what a let down! Other than that, everything else seemed okay. I haven't tried their food but I've heard that's nice, too! I keep meaning to go back there and hopefully will soon!
