One of the locals (there was 6 of us) suggested this place. Said it used to be called the Wine Bar, and everyone still calls it the wine bar, despite it being called Chez Sara. Called them and they said they'd take us at 9pm. Boy was I glad we moved here :-) It's a simple enough menu - lots of fish, some steak, and a few other things. I had mussels to start, and lemon sole as my main (being one of my favourites). Around the table people had pork belly, open vegetarian lasagne, chicken, and fish. Everyone was delighted with their food. It's modestly priced, really delicious food, with a basic, kinda French style to it. We polished off some house red and white (also great), and even went for desserts. I thought my tarte tatin was slightly below par versus the rest of the meal, but that's basically looking for something to be picky about :-) I would recommend this for anyone : tasty food with friendly staff in nice, simple surroundings. The restaurant has a very intimate feel about it. It is not very big, the table are made of old French boxes, walls are covered in famous vintage pictures, everything is simple and welcoming. One star for the food. I had fishcake as a starter, amazing and tasty. Then I had some cod with potatoes as a main, and that was equally beautifully cooked and tasty. And of course, the place being a wine bar I had some white wine, Picpoul. Just a glass, but what a glass ! One star for the waitressing. The waiting time was perfect, although I was starving ! The waitresses were very nice at all times. One star for the experience. The entire evening went really well overall. I will definitely go back and bring friends - even French friends ! I recommend 'Chez Sara' and give the restaurant a 5 star in a heartbeat. In the end my friend didn't remember the bet and invited me... Shhh I won't say if you don't ;) ***Update*** I came back to the place with the same place. We are losing 1 star here... The foie gras was presented on white bread. Shocking! It's no pâté! We were led to our table for 4 in the basement (I noticed the Tapas bar was very lively & busy before heading downstairs). Waiter was friendly; however, he seemed a bit overwhelmed and we would have to remind him of things. Food? Foie gras-tasty and unique presentation. I enjoyed this starter. Pappardelle-w/mushrooms & an egg. Delicious. Overall, my food was Very Good, but I did notice that my husband's fillet was not prepared correctly (he ordered medium rare and it was closer to medium well). I got the impression that he was disappointed with his entree. Thus, some hits and some misses. The two connecting dining rooms are amazing and cozy, with a big bar counter at the back, wine racks and a huge assortment of whimsical objects or artwork around the place. There's a set dishes menu, a smaller tapas menu and also the specials of the day, written on a big blackboard - that our hostess kindly perched on a chair in front of our table, improptu style. In both fixed menus there are many vegetarian and/or gluten free options. The wine list was interesting enough, though not perfect. I managed to find a beautiful spanish Verdejo there, so that must count for something. We were served delicious food and the only thing I can point is that my vegetarian stuffed zucchini had a bit too much cheese, but other than that everything was good and their special of the day, salmon, was cooked perfectly. Unfortunately we were both too full to try the desserts, but at least we got to to wrap our lunch up with a nice espresso.

Sometimes a wine list with nothing but the vineyard name and country isn't enough to help you choose, so having the entire shop upstairs at your disposal is the absolute best. Take your time browsing, then head downstairs for a cozy seat and some tasty food. If you know what's good for you, you'll have the bacon jam and goats cheese bread board! It's our go-to when we're having a bottle of red wine, and it's just incredible. Staff are very nice and attentive, service is quick even when the place is busy. Always very happy with everything we have here, and are always anxious to come back. Perfect for a chill night out with friends, or a date night. Any weekend that includes the Cavern is sure it be a great one!

Firmly my favourite place to go for a drink on Baggot Street, this place has a great vibe to it making it a super cool and comfy place to hang out with the hubby and/or even round up the mates for an evening of wine and chit-chat! They sell wines, teas and coffees only but they offer a great BYO from Baggot Street Wines above, just hold onto your receipt and pop on down, grab a seat and with corkage for €5 per bottle of wine or beers at €1, you get fresh glasses, wine coolers as needed and nibbles on your table. Great value... Plus if past 10pm and the off license is closed, you are welcome to order from their menu with a great selection of wines by the glass and the bottles being great value too! One of the staff members helped me pick out a glass of wine that was PERFECT for me. He asked me what flavor profile I liked and picked out a beautiful effervescent, juicy, red. I also ordered a ham and cheese toastie which was the perfect snack to hold me over before dinner and the two paired well together. This place is definitely trendy and hip so the prices reflect that but I think it's worth the visit.

The strawberry jam tastes like home made without any added sugar. #3: Affordability: Compared to Dublin, this place is a steal. There are usually lots of Italian customers there, speaking Italian. This is a very good sign. The place is full of interesting old books people are free to browse. A quirk is an underlying 'cat' theme. Quotes and pictures about cats all over. Hand drawn images of cats by customers also adorn the walks, as to Italian record albums. I come way out of my way to come here regularly and will continue to as long as possible. Note: their fabulous bread selection comes fresh daily from the Firehouse bakery in Delgany.
