I was so excited to go to Stoops again. The mussels were just as I remembered them! The food was the only nice thing about the place. The charm of the place is completely gone. And the service, oh boy, the service... well let's say... I see why it's called Skerries. I could go on about how they didn't want to seat us (after we were seated) and how it became an unwanted 2hr dining experience - but I'll spare you the details. I'm sorry we were just, "bloody walk-ins". I just wanted to enjoy the mussels I've been dreaming about for years. read more

Possibly the worst service I've ever experienced in a restaurant. What a shame, perfect location, the food was wonderful but from the moment we set foot in the door we were met with hostility and the feeling that the customers were an inconvenience to the staff. Before we were seated we were informed a number of times about the 90 minute limit for diners. We had no intention to extend our lunch beyond that, but as we hit the hour mark the reminders began aggressively. Rather than enjoying a nice lunch I now felt like I had 30 minutes to defuse a time bomb. The service itself was appalling. As we reordered drinks none of the empty glasses were removed. Empty plates remained uncleaned. At every interaction with the senior waitress we got nothing but rudeness. What a shame. read more

Lovely place for some good quality grub. I've had the cod and chips, which was excellent. The batter was really nice, which can be hard to get right i.e. not soaked in oil I've also had the baked salmon on another occasion, with the sun blushed tomato tapenade. Salmon was cooked perfectly and with the tapenade, very tasty. I had the savoury potatoes on that occasion and I can very much recommend those as a potato option here at Stoop. The staff are friendly and super quick, we got our food in really good time on both occasions. If you are on the Harbour in Skerries and need some sustenance, I recommend Stoop. read more

I have heard so many great things about this place and let me tell you it did not disappoint. Such a cosy establishment. We sat outside and we were provided with blankets to keep us warm. Being a native Skerries goat, there does lie some bias in my reviews of restaurants around the town however this is one place that blow-ins, day trippers and visitors alike rave about. Stoops is the home of fresh and delicious seafood, with the majority of their produce coming straight from the boat that morning, only driving 20 minutes max to get to the restaurant door. You can never go wrong with their half and half which comprises of half Dublin bay prawns and Rockabill crab claws drenched in the most amazing garlic butter. You may think it's pricey but by god get it because it's worth every cent! They match the prawns and crab with plenty of brown bread to soak up the delicious flavor after. If it's a cold evening, you have to grab their fish pie. It'll warm the cockles of your heart within seconds of putting a morsel into your mouth! Another must off the menu is their pate, bizarre I know for a seafood restaurant but it's absolutely divine along with their crispy duck with noodles. Service is always super friendly and accommodating. When the restaurant is busy, you can put your name down and go up to the pub Joe May's to have a pint until they call you when your table is ready. If you're venturing up the north county coast, make sure to hit this spot because you won't be disappointed! Quick tip: if you're not too hungry or looking after the purse strings, you can ask for a half portion of their cod and chips, still substantial with one large piece of battered cod and a heap of chips. read more

Stopped here for lunch randomly one day. There was another place which was packed so we tried this instead. The place is basically bar like with tables for food placed quite well inside. Certainly not elbow to elbow. The prices seemed quite expensive when I first browsed the menu, but when the food on the table next to us was delivered I realised this was a restaurant with great looking food. In the end we both ordered cod and chips, It was fantastic and plentiful. The batter on the fish was amazing and the chips looked great. Service was efficient and friendly. Every dish I saw delivered looked great and I really want to go back and try some of the other dishes. Quick tip, the name Stoop your head is possibly because of the low doorway between the two rooms. I managed to crack my head, even with all the warnings! read more

Came here on a Saturday afternoon and it was lovely. The place was full so we took a seat at the bar. It's a really quaint little Irish pub and definitely feels homely in that sense. I had the dublin bay prawn open sandwich and it was delicious, there was a bit too much marie rose sauce though. I like marie rose sauce but it took away from how amazing the prawns were. I also had the starter portion of mussels and it was a very generous portion and was extremely tasty! I'd definitely come back. read more

Best gourmet pub food in North Co. Dublin. Normally that wouldn't qualify as much of a compliment, sounds like an oxymoron in fact. The pub has great character and the service is fast and friendly. If you must go to Skabies then you must go to Stoops. read more

Great, tiny place right on the main drag in Skerries with fantastic seafood. We were taking a drive around Ireland for vacation. And this was our firat atop after picking up our car. We were starving after the long flight and stopped in here for lunch. We were not disappointed! The place is cozy and seems like there were some locals at the bar as well (always a good sign). I got the haddock and BF got the salmon, and we thoroughly enjoyed both! Cultural difference from the states, you go up to thw bar to pay when you're ready (just so you aren't waiting forever for them to bring a check like we were)! Overall, great place! read more

The food looked really great at first but realy had no taste. I had the Cod &chips. The batter was really thick with a taste of pancake. My boyfriend had the dublin bay Prawns and crab claws. the prawns had some flavour but the crab would have been nothing without the melted butter. The worst part of all was the service. Not one smile and we were waiting for at least 15 minutes with empty plates to be cleared and it almost seemed as if the waitresses were intentionally avoiding us and looking anywhere possible to not make eye contact. Delightful establishment with a wonderful atmosphere and a good deal of gluten free menu options! They offer gluten free bread with the open faced sandwiches ( all of which are DELICIOUS) ! My husband and I stayed at a bed and breakfast in the area and this came up in our search for gluten free friendly restaurants! We were able to enjoy our meal and watch the sunset !
