It's a tonic... and this is where I was last Sunday, the first summer(ish) weekend of 2011 The bar is small but very charming. It has a fireplace too, which is usually going in the Autumn and Winter. There is another small cosy room behind the bar, this then leads to a run of the mill Irish pub lounge. Funnily the prices are cheaper in the bar, than in the lounge, which is a typical thing of pubs in north county Dublin, or so I am told by my brother. Today though, I was a little peeved and being passed over twice while waiting to order a couple of pints. The locals know what part of the bar is best to stand at for ordering. But my biggest complaint was the attitute of the management when we asked the waitress to politely request a large group of very drunk and loud middle-age diners at a large table in the middle to tone it down because they were drowning out all conversations. We even had to shout at the waitress to get her attention because of the noise. But all she did was apologise and tell us we could move to another table. This we did, carrying our half-eaten meals ourselves to a corner that was only marginally less quiet. She didn't even offer us a free drink or anything else by way of compensation. I thought this was highly unprofessional and was not impressed. I will not be returning on a Saturday night in the future if they let drunken boors ruin everyone else's night.

Generations of my family have come to The Bus Bar for pints and a bit of the craic. I'm happy to see a fresh approach to this business model. I love the open-mindedness of the owners who bring in diverse and talented entertainment. They clearly know what they are doing and how to keep things fresh. Went there today with family to celebrate my daughter's engagement. Starters mixed , some lovely ,…read moresome not so . mains, chicken was over cooked , but the burgers were literally raw ! Didn't realise until the end , when 3 of our group in their 20s had food on their plates , unheard of !! They didn't want to say anything to spoil the occasion hugely disappointing, hoping we don't get food poisoning. We were told we didn't have to pay for the raw food ! Special once in a life time occasion ruined . Will never be back !!
