Myself and my family made a booking on Saturday for Saturday evening, (which I was surprised to get…read morea booking at such late notice) We arrived and was given a table at the back corner, we ordered drinks and food Our starters arrived, which were nice, but then waited 10 to 15 minutes before r plates where cleared when the mains came My husband had ordered a ribeye steak €32. It was bland and quite fatty for a ribeye No one came to check our table And he ended up, just putting garlic mayo on top with the sauce that was on his plate to give us some sort of taste. My daughter got a tagliatelle which was very smoky Yet again, nobody checked the table. It was probably another 10 to 15 minutes for our plates to b cleared The waitress asked was everything okay my husband said about the steak been bland and fatty also my daughters dish was only 1/2 eaten .....she apologised and that was that !!!!!! Yet again we waited about 15 mins B4 I had to call over the manageress to ask for the bill ( we hadn't even been offered dessert menu and we were out celebrating a bday which I'd have said if we were offers dessert) I told her that the service had been really poor and she shrugged her shoulders and said sorry when the bill came It was €192 and my husband put €200 in the wallet and went to get the car. The girl took the wallet and never returned the €8. We were leaving it for a tip, even though I don't think it was deserved, but we weren't given an option as wallet wasn't returned to table I emailed the restaurant on my return home and received a phone call from the manageress the following evening She explained that they were very busy which I had said was great However, that wasn't my problem. We were paying guests also there was 3/4 tables free around us so they weren't really that busy, but when I said that she said they had been busy from 12 o'clock that day yet again, not my problem and then she went onto say cause of were we were seated they They tend not to see us !!!! I had booked for myself and my parents and sisters to go there for Christmas lunch in 2 days time and in my email I had sent I said I wanted to cancel the booking and on the phone call the manageress ask me, would I come in and allow For the staff to attend to us better than they had done on the Saturday night and I said absolutely no way. Unfortunately Mc Goverins has lost its magic and I could tell one from been able to get a booking two hours before our arranged reservation and two there was tables on the Saturday night before Christmas tables available around us when we were having a meal and when we were leaving. For this reason, I will most definitely will not be back to Mc Governs

An excellent small plates restaurant in Malahide, The Greedy Goose is worth the trip from Dublin…read moreall by itself (but sure, enjoy the coast, the marina, and the castle while you're here). I knew I was going to be very happy from the first taste of the chef's choice appetizer this evening -- sweet onion, potato, and smoked lamb soup. It was amazing -- creamy, smooth, slightly sweet from the onion and just a hint of the smoky meat. From there the meal went from highlight to highlight, with each dish my favorite. From the soy, ginger and sesame tuna tostada to the warm goat cheese with hazelnut and honey, to the beautiful cider glazed pork belly. They have an excellent selection of small plates as well as a 3-course tasting menu (which comes with the chef's choice appetizer mentioned above).

Even our 8 and 10 year olds loved their food!!! The restaurant was clean, and had great views. There were people dressed casually (us!!) and people obviously celebrating something special. It would be a great place for a date night! I wish that we lived here so we could return. If you are fortunate enough to be in the area, eat here! You will NOT regret it!

I ate here in a pinch after realizing my chosen restaurant was just a takeaway place, and I wanted…read moresomething better to see myself off from Ireland. So I at least accomplished that. The seafood chowder here is yet another variation - I only saw fish in there although the menu said shellfish, but there were large chunks of fresh and smoked fish. Since their posted specials (outside) are only available on weekends (thanks, sign - but at least they were honest about it before bringing me anything I had to pay for), I tried the posh fish & chips. It was pretty good - definitely not your usual fish & chips, and the portion was deceptively decent. The sauce was too light on flavour and portion to really work with the potatoes, which were perfectly crisped Irish golds by the way. The fish was crispy outside and had the hint of cured/salty-smoky on the inside, definitely a lighter smoke on the salmon than you might get in Canada or New York. I washed it down with something else you don't really see in the states, Smithwicks pale ale. (Unlike most Irish pubs, there were mostly lighter beers here, pales and lagers, with Guinness holding down the dark side alone.) Nothing to write home about, but at least I ended the day on a high note.

Stayed here for a couple of days…read more.. Hotel: Rooms are tidy, clean and comfortable. They clean/tidy up the rooms every day. Both of us were full, big portions as usual. Only downside was with ribs being new on the menu, they never included a wet wipe for your fingers and using just a paper napkin left paper pieces stuck to the sticky BBQ sauce. One thing that did stand out was after we got our food, the waitress never came over again to check how the meal was or did we need more drinks. I ended up having to leave the table and walking to the bar for another round. But then again, it was a full house and very busy, so that could explain it....

I really want to like this place but it needs to choose whether to be a restaurant or a pub…read more TWO is a pub converted into a restaurant but it kept most of what I generally dislike about pubs. The seating is casual, there are large screens around showing sports and a bar counter up front. The menu is pretty limited, burger, lamb, chicken, fish & chips etc. The mains will set you back between 14 and 22 euro which makes me believe they're going for a certain crowd but the decor and atmosphere tells a different story. The food is very nice and the deserts are amazing and about worth the price. If TWO fully committed to being a restaurant (or even sectioned off an area for diners) it could be an amazing place.
