The service was exceptional--attentive but unhurried. The drinks are terrific and priced accordingly. This isn't a cheap spot for a beverage. But, if you want a quiet, spot for a date or cocktails with friends, Stella Cocktail Club is worth a visit.

The Stella is a unique movie theater, with sumptuous seating offering, red leather couches, leather overstuffed chairs and hassocks, quaint side tables with tiny lamps and seat side service. You make reservations in advance, reserving specific chairs or couches, or, if you are so inclined, one of the large beds located at the very front of the theater. You can pre-order food which is brought to you or if not hot, already at your table when you arrive. The theater has a retro concession stand and you can have alcoholic drinks in the theater. The movie screen was huge and the sound was fabulous. Our seats were in the 5th row. Beforehand, you can book a table or bar seats for dinner or drinks in the upstairs cocktail bar which is also unique and fabulous. Very art deco with a cool vibe! They have a fancy drink menu, I snapped a few photos of sample drink offerings. My friend's cocktail arrived in a stemmed footed porcelain teacup! We did not finish a bottle of wine we had ordered for the table and we were informed we were free to take the bottle and glasses down to the theater to enjoy during the movie! Very nice! The service was very friendly, although they had some obviously new waitstaff who had trouble getting their act together and could not recall who ordered what and just simply placed entrees randomly in front of our table's diners, resulting in lots of dish passing and exchanging. The food was quite good. I ordered the Kale Salad (delicious) and the Creamed Spinach (yummy, but too liquidy) and Chicken Skewers. My husband ordered the Patatas Bravas and the Chicken Skewers, my friend ordered the giant Garlic Chili Prawns, Kale Salad and her husband ordered the Baba Ganoush. Good taste reports all around! The atmosphere is intimate and you are allocated a 1 hour and 45 minute schedule for your reserved dining space which was plenty of time. We did not feel rushed at all. I would highly recommend this unique and fun experience when in Dublin!

Nice since this wasn't too far from our hotel. Setup is kinda disconnected. Lots of floors with different vibes. We were on a chill floor with plush seating. Can't remember if we were the only people on this floor, but we could hear the party going on upstairs. Kinda made me want to be a part of it. Lol! Three of the cocktails were dark and stiff, so definitely my type of drink. We walked in with no problem. I think the hubby read up on how to get in. But like most hidden speakeasies, just find the nondescript door. In this case, it's just a grey metal door with stickers spelling VCC. Fun last stop of the night. REVIEW #4118

Inside are three floors of cozy cocktail lounges with antiques, art, and decor to match the name. The dim lighting added to its speakeasy vibe. Good for relaxing compared to the noisy bars nearby. Located in the middle of an alley - look for a plain metallic door with the letters VCC and ring the doorbell. A reservation is highly suggested though our small group did a walk-in.

The decor is shiny and new as you would expect but the food is the real talking point here. It's different and absolutely delicious. We went for the early bird menu which was €18 for 2 courses. There is an option for a 3rd but the portions were so large we couldn't fit any more in. Well, except for cocktails that was. The upstairs bar is a great place for pre or after dinner drinks and the menu is extensive but kinda expensive. Go for the 2 for €12 euro deal served up to 7.30 if you are on a budget. Oak Alley is a great addition to the already thriving restaurant scene in Maynooth. Like a lot of people I was unsure if New Orleans in Kildare would work, but it most definitely does.

The sweet potato curry is really good, I never usually get curries out but ordered this on a whim. Jack Daniel Chicken wings are delicious and the calamari is always one of my favourites and I don't believe it is too chewy. Their cocktails are top class, not just some alcohol put into a blender. The Ramon Gin Fizz is a nice one to have after dinner as its fresh and citrusy. YUM! I'd also suggest the Espresso Martini Service is good and all staff are very pleasant. Early bird menu has 3 courses for 23EUR or 2 for 18EUR which is good value considering starters are 7-10EUR and mains 17-30EUR.

So in light of that I will be the first to admit that any bias I had were entirely misconstrued. The staff were excellent and professional and the service was perfect so no faults there. Onto the food. As a rule and depending on the restaurant I will tend to benchmark on the fillet mignon. It's hard to hide here and they meat is either quality and properly cooked or not. In this case it was excellent, however the mash on the side was even better and the onion was exceptional. So, in summary a quality establishment. Not the cheapest but still very good value for money and I'd be more than happy to return and spend my hard earned euros again. Kudos to the chef, kitchen staff, front of house and the owners. Well done to all!

That's when we discovered that the recently re-opened restaurant is Michelin rated and books up fast! We were so happy when they agreed to let us have dinner with them- as long as we could vacate the table before the reserved customers arrived (1 1/4 hours). Not nearly enough time to sample more than a cocktail and main, but well worth it! The covktails were small but well crafted. The lamb I ordered and the linguini w/ aglio e olio were simply delicious! For dessert, theybrought out a tray of parfaits. I chose the cherry/amaretto and it was great. So happy we were able to enjoy such a wonderful meal on our anniversary.
