What a fun sports bar for a night out in Dublin. My girlfriend and I googled for a bar that may have the Eagles game on, and word was Sinnotts was one of the bars in the area that frequently puts Eagles games on or whatever the most asked for game is by most patrons at the time. My girlfriend and I were off both geared up in our Eagles jerseys and myself sporting an Eagles hat as well. We were determined to make our presence known and really hope they would put it on the big screen for us if we showed the proper amount of enthusiasm and zeal. Luckly, it worked and another couple came in right after us decked out in eagles gear as well, score, we now had a rooting section as soon as you entered the establishment. They had a great 2 for 1 margarita deal and they were quite good. The food was nothing to sneeze at either, the Irish Stew was probably my favorite of the whole trip, and my only gripe is I wish the portion size was a little larger. I tasted my gf's dish which was the braised beef, and it was a heaping portion size and good, not the best in all of our trip but still very good. This was one of our first few nights in Dublin before meeting up with our tour group for a drive over parts of Ireland and Northern Ireland and I am very glad we chose here as one of the bars. I would recommend if you are in the area and want to make a night out of it watching a sports game, grabbing some food, and if you're in the mood to indulge in a few cocktails, well you will definitely have a wide array of spirits and beer to choose from. We popped into Sinnott's while exploring Dublin and had such a fun time. It's a proper Irish pub with a lively atmosphere, friendly service, and plenty of space. My husband was thrilled to find golf playing on the massive screen - perfect spot for sports lovers! The Guinness was smooth and perfectly poured, just as it should be. We didn't try much food this time but definitely enjoyed the classic pub energy and welcoming vibe. Conveniently located right off Grafton Street too, so it was an easy stop while sightseeing. Used to be good but probably won't be back. Some friends and I would watch Sunday night NFL games here a few times per season. Tonight, at 23.10 they switched the game off and told us they were closing, despite the website saying they were open until 00.30. They didn't tell us when we ordered a round at 23.00 that they were closing and the NFL would be switched off. If it's NFL you are after, you're better off going straight to The Woolshed. read more

So-so. Perhaps this was a once-off, but these last two experiences here haven't been the greatest. The last two times the beef was a bit tough and chewy. Also, it may be relevant to highlight a 'policy change', which has been in place for a good while, but I never knew about it. I ordered the same meal I've ordered from the beginning and noticed a euro increase on the bill. When I inquired about this, I was told that each side is now 50 cents more. So a tiny sprinkle of lettuce and slice of cheese is 1 Euro. When I asked the general manager about this, initially he said that has been the policy for a short while now. He apologised but then walked away. We finished our meal and as I was leaving I asked for the manager's name, because I wanted to make sure this is a set-in-stone policy. 6-7 of my esteemed colleagues eat lunch here 3 times a week (5 times with the cup on.) Figured they should know they are being charged that, since for them it's often one big tab and they probably don't notice. After mentioning where I worked, he asked specifically what we had on our sandwiches. I had a slice of cheese and she had a sprinkle (and genuinely, it was just a sprinkle) of lettuce. The general manager then said that the new policy was *not* to curtail people getting a bit of cheese or lettuce and that the cashier was being too strict an enforcer. He then re-iterated that this was not the policy and went and retrieved our Euro. I appreciate the good customer service, but when you're out for a meal you shouldn't have to be soldier-vigilant... the cashier should be aware of how the policy is to be implemented. Apparently, fellow yelpers, it is only 50 cent per side if you 'get carried away'. Now, I'm not sure how to quantify getting 'carried away' is, but I guess it isn't a piece of cheese and sprinkle of lettuce! read more

Don't be fooled by the front, Sinnotts is massive. You could play football in there, show up on a Tuesday night and they mightn't even be that fussed. It gets a mixed crowd that veers a bit too close to the thirty mark for my tastes but a good boozer nonetheless. The place gets rammed at lunch time by a legion of office workers, and don't even bother trying to get served in trackies and runners. A policy which I feel has ageist undertones. read more

They had 2 NFL games on and also Rugby. The place was packed but we found seats at the bar and were promptly attended to. Good place but don't expect to find NFL football, at least not a specific game . Was trying to get the NY Giants game so stopped by in the afternoon to ask if it would be on. Promised me it would so went back at 6PM for the game. Not on so asked a few employees who said they would check. After about 30 minutes one finally came back and told me they couldn't get it. Was surprised for a sports bar they weren't too worried about finding the game, especially when most people in there didn't seem to care about what was on. It may be situated underneath a shopping centre, and it may look pretty small from the outside, but once you're in the doors and down the staircase in Sinnotts, you will find a decent-sized and good fun pub. The whole pub is essentially one long room with an island-style bar running along the middle. The decor is lovely and warm, but still open, and the far end of the bar holds a large screen which is used to show music videos when the dance floor kicks off on a Saturday night. The bar is well-staffed - I never had to wait very long to get a drink - and being in a less obvious spot, it doesn't tend to be full of Temple Bar tourists. You might get a bit of a theatre crowd before and after showtimes, as it is across the way from the Gaiety Theatre, but it makes for a nice ambience about the place. For the literary buffs, it also holds a large collection of drawings and biographies of Irish writers. A good, friendly pub for a good fun night out. read more

Totally recanting my previous review. Went there with a group of friends. We got there at 6pm. Every surface was covered in spilled drinks and soppy menus. There was no clean spot in sight, and it didn't seem that staff cared enough to clean it up. We finally got a table and ordered some drinks. We split the margaritas, raspberry daiquiris, long islands, appletinis and killer punches. The drinks sucked. Well except for the killer punch. Seriously though. They were made so carelessly, and when we brought it to the attention of the bartenders and management we were laughed at, yelled at, and basically kicked out. We're American college students ready to throw down money for a good time - they just lost hundreds of dollars on us. Never been so mistreated and disrespected at a customer service establishment in my life. read more

Have been here on 2 separate trips to Ireland. Both times I got the nachos. The beer, the atmosphere, and the food are all amazing.

This is the most fun place I have been to ever since I arrived in Dublin. The place is warm, the staff is fun, the music is a good variation of 80's, 90's and more current fun dance music. The best thing is their cheap Ladies Night Drink specials that can not be beaten by any bar in Dublin. 2 drinks for the price of €5 - the drinks were fun, tasted great and were girly and just what I needed after dancing my ass of on their dance floor. It is a big place but their dance floor could be a bit bigger and if I have to give one criticism it is that the liquor-bar was behind the dance floor which was not that ingenuous when you have two FULL drinks in your hands trying to avoid any dancers hitting you or your drinks while passing through the crowd. It's hard to rate this place accurately as I guess it really depends on what you're looking for. It wouldn't be my cup of tea at all, but as sports bars go, I would say that it would probably rate quite highly. There are about a million screens of varying sizes, no daylight to interrupt viewing, lots of seating, and good value booze and food. There's a big central bar with a good few staff so that you don't have to wait to long to be served, so all up, it's a 'does what it says on the tin' kinda place! read more

I love Sinnotts! I may be biased because I used to work here, pulling pints, in 2005. However, most of my mates also agreed that this is one of the best pubs in town mainly for three reasons---1. best ambiance for big footie and rugby matches; 2. excellent pints of guinness; 3. good crowds on Friday and Saturday nights. I spent the last world cup there (2010) for several of the matches, and it was an absolute blast....no other pub in Dublin could compare to the atmosphere....that is if you were actually able to get in. However, Sinnotts has TVs outside of the pub and there were massive crowds on the patio and sidewalk/street cheering on the matches; inside, it was packed....almost like a mosh pit! But, amazingly, people were still able to get served relatively quickly. I have never gone there for the food because I have other favourites in the area, but I know some items and the carvery are very popular; ....overall, solid pub. read more

My boyfriend and I were attending my cousins birthday party at this bar. Upon arrival we were refused entry, no reason given. We were respectably dressed and we'll composed. The bouncers allowed about 10 people in while I tried to call my cousin to explain the situation. Most of the people that they allowed in were wearing hoodies and runners. My cousin came upstairs and after a while we were allowed in. I have a strong feeling that we weren't allowed in because we were holding hands as we approached the bar. The bouncer had dark hair with shaved sides and too much gel on top and is over 6 foot in height I would guess. I felt very uncomfortable and I have to say it is the only place in Dublin I have ever felt discriminated against. Do not go here. It's not a particularly nice place to go for a drink under any circumstance. read more

They do a great carvery, Mon - Fri for lunch. I've notice lately that the manager hovers over the staff cutting the meat and watches them like a hawk. They're giving a lot less meat than they used to, I'd say 40% less, conservatively. Today was half of what I used to get. I worked years in the business, I know how much frozen veg cost, they come in big 5kg bags. They're very cheap, so I don't want loads of mash instead. It's €12 - so it's not cheap. They've gotten mean with the meat portions, I don't like to see that. As said, it's not cheap at all, it's expensive so I'm going to downgrade them. It's no longer good value, stop being so stingy, especially with regulars. I know that they're trying to save, but they've suddenly gone dramatically cheap with the meat portions. Great sort of multi-purpose pub. Usually a mixed clientele, and big enough to swallow them all without getting too stuffy and pushy. The Guinness pint isn't great but there's enough other beers on tap to keep things interesting. Spirit prices are as ridiculous as anywhere else in central Dublin. The staff are great - on a recent visit I ordered two wrong beers by mistake. The barman swapped them for me no problems at all. The bar menu is also surprisingly good, and it is a clean and roomy enough pub to make eating possible and enjoyable. On Fridays and Saturdays at about 10ish the tables get pushed back and there is a dance floor and DJ. The music when I was there last was woeful (but music is a subjective thing). Best of all, when you eventually emerge a bit worse for wear the huge taxi rank at Stephen's Green is only a short stumble away! read more

Why is this pub only getting three stars? all the reviews are good and yet no one would give it the four it deserves, so i am going to give it a five in an effort to boost its star rating! This is a great spot, whenever I'm in town and there is a sporting event to be watched this is where I go, when I would like some pub food I usually think of here and recently when organising my work christmas party where did I choose? Why sinnotts of course! Now I will admit that I did choose it because of how close it was to our restaurant but also its really close to the luas and the taxi rank at Stephens green (which is handy when your in heels!) and its near lots of late night food places too! perfect! Dress code? Really? I didnt know that! Maybe I have been dressed up every time I go here! But there is no dress code during the day, I'm sure I have worn jeans and runners going in here! So dont be put off by that comment. Hang on a minute, memories of Friday night are coming back to me, there were a group of four people in army type gear there! Now they surely were not following a dress code! Why were they wearing that though?hmmmmm! One thing I have to comment on is their toilets, the girls ones anyway. they were designed for really skinny people, the cubicles are the narrowest I have ever seen! I know people will agree with me when they read this! SInnotts were either trying to maximise the amount of toilets they could squeeze into that room or they are really against the practice of two girls going into the same cubicle at the same time, this is not possible in here! read more

Met the beau and his colleagues on a Friday night - I actually rather liked the venue. Loads of seating - we managed to bag 2 tables between 8 of us. A pint of Smithwicks Pale Ale was €5 which was very reasonable in that part of town and of course you have 2-for-1 cocktails. The latter is a bit hit and miss though - the strawberry mojito was pretty strong, but the appletini just tasted like juice! I think the favourite of most people is the strawberry daiquiri... we had about 8 of them on our table at some point! read more

Stopped in for some drinks with the new work colleagues on Friday, an absolute gem of an afterwork spot! There are some great drinks deals on a Friday evening (two for one cocktails!) and a rather reasonable €5 for a lovely pint of Tiger. The only downsides I can see to Sinnotts is that it's underground so you wont get any signal and there's no dedicated smoking area, although going upstairs to stand in the seated area outside isn't the worst, its a nice area and good for people watching! Excellent Pub to watching sporting events from all countries! It's conveniently located right next St. Stephen's Green right off of Grafton St. It can definitely get packed during the sporting events.. so get there early! Unless you don't mind standing, then you're safe to get there fashionably late If there is one fault, and I think it's a big one, is their food. It can be pricey for what you get and the taste. I prefer to go here for the sporting events and then eating after. Nonetheless, go here, and enjoy the atmosphere of people screaming their heads off for their favorite sporting teams! read more

This place can be really hit or miss. They do good drink deals Thursday through Saturday, and it's normally not too crowded, so if you've got a group of people and want to be able to get a table or sitting area, it's a good choice. They're a good sports watching place, because it's big, with lots of TVs and a big screen in front. Sometimes it can be really empty, and because it's really big, and it's downstairs, when it's empty it can feel like you're kind of isolated from the world... I've never really done cocktails here, just beer - based on other reviews, that might be a good thing. We did order a tray of food - word of advice, the "For Two" platter of food is enough to feed a chubby family of 8... or at least 4-5 grown men. If you want to watch a rugby match with a projector screen the size of the wall with a cold Guinness in your hand, this is the place to be. I watched my first rugby match here, Ireland vs. Scotland, and I was surrounded by both Irish and Scottish fans who were 100% enjoying themselves. The bartenders kept the drinks flowing and the kitchen staff kept the fryers going. Nothing exceptional about the food or drinks, but go here for the atmosphere. Hanging here in St, Stephens Green was a nice break from Temple Bar....one more night there and I think I would have died from alcohol poisoning. I had a blast at Sinnott's because: a. It's a cool bar full of friendly locals who actually like Americans b. They play great music c. Sinnotts is one of those places that gives you a bit of a shock when you go in there...it's about ten times as big as you would have expected, and way nicer looking too. With that end of Grafton St surrounded by the likes of TGI and what's now known as Ruaille Buaille, it's nice to find a place that looks as a pub should. They market themselves as a sports bar, and don't disappoint - all major sporting events are catered for (and if you can't be bothered to actually go in, stand outside where they also have a TV for the smokers, or, in my case, passers-by). They are fairly strict on the dress code, especially on the busier nights towards the end of the week, but Thursday night karaoke is never a bad idea. Stopped for a quick bite of food last Thursday evening with two friends. While the food was ok, the service was rather poor. We ask for menus from two waitresses who seemed to be finding customers more of an inconvenience than part of their job. I understand the place was busy, but that's still no excuse for the blasé attitude. We were not asked if we wanted drinks with our food order, nor was any indication given that we should go to the bar to get some. After trying to get the attention of many staff, we eventually got drinks with our meal. We also tried to get their attention to order an additional item with our meal, unfortunately the waitresses were just too busy to see us! Eh, ever heard of checking the customer is enjoying their meal? When paying the bill, the waitress stood over us until we handed over the money. I'm not sure if it was because of the busy night or just her poor etiquette in general, but I find this extremely rude. If I was going to run off without paying, I wouldn't have asked for the bill!!! A bit of training in customer service and a refresher course in manners wouldn't go astray with the ladies working here. read more

Once upon a time, there a was a little girl who was so afraid to sing in public that she would tremble with fear. The music which was coming out was broken and people would run very far and very fast. But one day, the little girl became a grown up and she went for a drink to a magic place. The place was called Sinnotts... One star for the Spot ! It's amazing how huge Sinnotts is. I mean, the front door looks like any other pub, and the stairs look like any other stairs leading to a pub. But once downstairs, surprise and astonishment ! There is a huge room. And in the middle of this huge room there is a huge bar. It's soooo huge one could get lost while going to the bathroom. No kidding ! Ok, maybe. Or only if you have had a few drinks... ;) One star for the Ambiance ! People are friendly and you feel welcomed. I know I feel welcomed every time I go there. The waiters don't have you wait for ages and they recognize you even though you can't recognize anything anymore. There are a few reasons why one goes to Sinnotts. When you go to Sinnotts, you probably want to : 1/Watch a match. Soccer or rugby or darts... Sport ! 2/Have a few drinks after work for a few hours. 3/Sing. One star for the Karaoke organizer ! I don't remember his name (it will come back to me... Especially as if I go there on Thursday :) but this guy is awesome ! At 10.30 every thursday he comes to Sinnotts, installs his karaoke equipment and warms up the room with his beautiful voice. In the meantime you go through a booklet he gave you and try to pick a song you like (there are plenty), you can sing (the choice is reduced), you can sing after a few drinks (there are just a couple :D). You write the title of the song and your name on a piece of paper and give it back to your man. Then you wait, not long, but it seems like ages as you are completely terrified and drunk (to help loosen up). Well, the first time I went to Sinnotts I was so petrified that I couldn't sip a single drop of my drink. A few month later, I enjoy the effect of spirit over my poor nerves. It gives a little "je ne sais quoi" to my singing ;) One final star for the Treats ! Sometimes, your man gives free cocktails to either the best. the more couragous or funny singers. I had a few free cocktails, but I don't think it was because I was the best singer. I won't ask (my pride would get hurt :) I want more ! Last week I was celebrating the end of my previous job.
