Daughter had to Erik the Ref, a burger with lots of flavor. Son had the wings and he loved them. Went with the bbq sauce and it was quite savory. Wife had the chicken tenders and they were tasty. Waiter was awesome but the security almost took me out for eating chips!! A bag of chips I bought here at the bar. He thought it was the ones he asked to put away which was a bigger bag but the ones I ended up buying here were two small bags to respect and support. He rolled up on me like I was fighting or something. Is this Normal here? I mean I get if it was liquor but a bag of chips? On the first level there was live music and the crowd was so engaged with the bar and music. We were seated upstairs since we were there to eat and did not mind the quiet ambiance. The food was fabulous and so was the atmosphere. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is because the service is pretty slow. We ordered our food and drinks and never saw our server again until we had to flag her down to pay. I can get past dirty plates not being promptly taken but we would have loved to order more drinks for the table versus sitting there with an empty beer glass for 25+ minutes. read more

We pooped in here because it's around the corner from temple bar and in a really good area but keep in mind that the area it's in reflects the prices of their drinks aka, it's super overpriced bc it's in a touristy area. They had someone live playing covers or songs who had a super sweet voice and we opted for just drinks bc you had to walk from your table to the bar to order and we didn't want to deal with that when eating. We had only an hour to eat while our tour group was out exploring Dublin. We stopped into this place and let it be known that we were limited on time. My friend and I shared the Guinness beef stew and they were kind enough to put it into two bowls (although they did charge a sharing fee). The portion was huge so I'm so glad we shared. It was delicious and was served with a scoop of mashed potatoes. My other friend got a sandwich the was unbelievably large - we could've shared it 4 ways! We walked nine miles all over Dublin in the wind and rain. After checking out all the bars in the Temple Bar district, we walked into the Norseman and had a snack and a pint while listening to trad music. We had such a good time. The service was great, we found a snug table near the bar and spent a lovely afternoon. The Christmas ambience added to our memorable experience. We decided to eat dinner here on a whim after having drinks at some bars nearby. There was live music downstairs, which was amazing! You could still hear the music upstairs in the dining hall, but it was still an intimate atmosphere. We were seated immediately, which we did not expect due to it being prime dinner time. My husband and I both ordered bourbon & ginger drinks. I ordered the beef & Guinness stew, which was phenomenal and exactly what I needed on that chilly night! My husband ordered the fish and chips, which was the best we had during our week long trip in Ireland. We ended up ordering some pints after dinner and hanging out. We had the most fun at The Norseman in Temple Bar . It's a lot less crowded than the more popular pubs nearby . We went twice . The music on the first night was really good. And on the second night we got a surprise of an Irish dance group the preformed for a few minute. Drink prices were reasonable . We bought Norseman t-shirts to remember this place . read more

Walking through Temple Bar District came across this bar with an open stool at the bar. Immediately greeted by the bartender and served my Kilkenney. Reasonable priced and perfect pour! Hung out for a bit and listened to the live music. Fun guy playing cool tunes at just the right volume to actually enjoy it! Absolutely great pub! It has a real, 'local' atmosphere, which is pretty rare in this hood! Service is quick, friendly and ooooooh you craft beer and micro brewery lovers: you'll absolutely ADORE this place.... So many fantastic beers on draught! Do do do go for the local Blonde, but seriously - I don't think you can go wrong here with any beer. Fan of football? They have several screens to watch the match and they have the actual sound. Not just visuals and music playing in the background. Which I find a BIG plus, 'cause really, who doesn't want to listen to the comments and the excitement of the actual game?! I find it weird to watch it without but hey, that's just me. And what do you do when you have your pint & football? You order the burger.... Not just any burger - the Viking Burger! AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRR [add your own roar sound effect]. The burger was nice! Not the best burger in my life, but hey - I'm a burgerista and it was absolutely tasty. So no complaints here! After the match, they had live music. The bloke was actually pretty good and gave... Gave... How to describe it? A cosy, 'homely' atmosphere in de bar. Chatting with colleagues, having more beers. Absolutely a nice evening and again - local feel to it. It was also pretty quiet so enough places to sit and hang out. However, I have NO idea how it would be on a Friday or Saturday night. We had our first family meal here after getting off the plane. My daughter (10) had the Norseman Steak she loved cooking her own steak. I had fish n chips which was fresh, lite and not at all greasy. I highly recommend the curry sauce for the fries omg delish! My boyfriend had a blue cheese burger that was really good. We finished with 2 irish coffees that sweetly completed the meal. Very welcoming and entertainment on a Monday was a band "Raglan Trail" which made a difference. Lots of fun with signing and dancing to Irish music. Everyone in Ireland has been so nice but that was the rudest service yet. Party of 5, we sat down and were greeted and told the kitchen closed in 10 minutes - ok, that's fine. We were ready to order. But outside as we were walking in the kitchen said it closed at 10pm and it was 9:20pm. One of our friends wasn't feeling well and only wanted soup.... The waitress then proceeds to tell us that we must order a "main course" and if we didn't, we'd need to leave or go downstairs. I'm sorry but in the restaurant industry, it doesn't matter if a customer walks in at 5 mins till close, it's good etiquette to serve the customer...and what do you care, you're making more money!! Food was fine. Salty and just ordinary. Nothing to brag about and and certainly wouldn't recommend it for what it was and the prices of the food. read more

After our visit to St. Patrick's Cathedral, we elected to tour the Irish Rock-n-Roll Museum, but when we reached their doors, we learned that there weren't free spaces for a tour until half past two. Given that it was barely noon, we had time to kill, so we thought "why not have lunch someplace nearby"? We sauntered down Eustace Street, noted the presence of The Norseman, and walked in. You have to love any establishment whose sign proclaims they were established in 1696. I'm suspecting the menus of over 300 years ago weren't quite what they are now, but given that we visited in 2016, the 21st century menu is what matters. And it had quite a few selections that I'd be more than happy, but the winner for that was the seafood pasta (if it had been a bit cooler, I'd've opted for the Seafood Chowder, which I'm sure would have been just fantastic). I was a bit less daring on the beer side, ordering a Guinness. Wife ordered a Norseman Burger, and as the name might suggest, was plentiful enough to satisfy your typical Viking. Like many a building of this age, the restaurant is built on multiple, not-so-consistent levels. I wouldn't bother driving to get there (and let's face it, if you're driving around the Temple Bar area when you don't absolutely have to, you may want to rethink your priorities), but with plenty of public transportation options nearby, that shouldn't be an issue. Service was attentive and adequate, and the price was competitive, and with the meal lasting us the next six hours, I have to say we were more than pleased. read more

Ran into her tonight after hours at another pub, she remembered us and pointed to another few places for us to go. We were so delighted with this place! The good was delicious, the beer selection was very impressive (~38 taps, 28 of them craft beers, including some IPAs), good live music 7 nights a week - plus we rented a room for two nights and that was great as well. This place is right in the heart of the Temple Bar action and is easy to spot with its lovely real color. The staff are friendly (especially Barry and Simon!) and service is quick. Our room was ready two hours before we were told it would be, which was music to our weary travelers' ears. If you like seafood, try the chowder and the classic seafood pie. I ordered the latter two days in a row because it was so amazing. Our room was secure and clean with an excellent shower and comfortable bed. The windows looked out on the action below. The sound did come through pretty clearly from outside, but I enjoyed the lively atmosphere. Run, don't walk here, and tell Barry I sent ya! Darragh is the one of the best bar tenders you could ask for! Friendly, funny , and seems like a genuinely great guy - even when it's a busy Friday night. My family and I have a regular Christmas night out and we chose the norseman to meet and start our night out. We arrived around 4.30pm to have a late lunch/dinner. To say we were disappointing is an understatement. For a pub during Christmas time and in the middle of temple bar, the biggest tourist attraction in Dublin the service/atmosphere and staff behavior was appalling. We had ordered some food and parts of it came out cold. There is a blonde foreign women working on the bar and I have never come across someone so arrogant. Yes, I understand it Christmas but the bar was not busy at all. She kept ignoring us and took over 20 minutes to order one round of drinks. When another staff member walked around we said 'excuse me can we be served he said no! come over to another bar around here'. The blonde lady then came over and said I will serve you in 2 min and proceeded to pour out pints for a server while the other bar tender just stood there looking at us. When she finally served us she threw change back at us. To top all things off just as we finished our food. The bar women came out and slapped a big ' RESERVED FOR 7PM' on our table. We were going to stay for the evening and she was making us move. When we questioned why did she not tell us before we sat down as we would have gone somewhere else her reply was 'Well I am glad we didn't tell you' as if to say you've now spent a fortune here we have your money now leave. Shocking service and ridiculous prices. I understand it's temple bar but €17 for a small chicken burger with a few chips is not worth it! We would not have cared about price food if the bar tender was nice but she was extremely rude and very snotty. I would hate for a tourists coming to Ireland and visiting temple bar to have the same experience as us. read more

The food here is not good. We ordered the wings, fish and chips, and blue burger. The wings had a freezer burn taste so we only ate one each before the waitress came over to take them away. The fish was that rectangular shape like it came packaged and thrown in a deep fryer. The tarter sauce was watery and not good. The blue burger was okay. Both of us had stomach cramps after eating here. This was our last dinner in Dublin and I'm very disappointed. read more

Just dropped in here for a quick bite for lunch. The bartender sat us down, a lovely fellow if not a bit lost, and gave us the wrong menus. My husband and I both chose options only available for dinner. He gave us plenty of heartfelt apologies for the mix up in menus and helped us order from the correct menu. I went for the 100% Irish beef burger with a tea while my husband had their sea chowder and a pint of Guinness. The food came out quickly and tasted decent. However, finding someone to check us out was an effort. Considering there was only four other small groups of people, we were surprised at the delay of getting our bill settled.
