Decided to check out this place as our tour guide recommended it for Irish food experience. Nice quirky pub with table service. Quite traditional pub setting, Our order was taken quite quickly, and I really enjoyed my Irish stew! Portion size was quite decent, too! Perhaps a bit pricey, but we are in Dublin after all!

Ambience: 1/1 Service: 1/1 Food: 2/3 Came here as part of a pub crawl night with a tour guide. Good vibes and definitely a fun place to be! The food was decent, though not anything special. Between the table we got to try a bit of each appetizer and while they were all alright, none were exceptional. My friend and I got the Beef & Guinness Pie (€16.95) expecting it to be a pie and was quite surprised that it... wasn't (see attached picture). Overall, nothing to complain about but I wouldn't say Lundy Foots is anything exceptional either. Most of the fare offered can be found at other restaurants.

Located in Temple Bar along River Liffey. Beautiful Pub with all the beverages you'd expect. The pub food was a notch and above most we took in. The music was certainly excellent. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. Certainly a stop we'd repeat if our travels take us back to Dublin.

Went for a lunch, Lundy has a traditional Irish cuisine. A great lamb or Guinness pie, top notch Irish coffees. Also got a garlic parm fries with a side of blue cheese mayo- absolutely delicious. Ambiance is nice. Priced a little high

This is the first place we visited in Dublin, which was recommended by the hotel front desk and WOW, it was AMAZING! For starters we ordered the Fried Brie and Cauliflower Bites, and for the main course, we had the Beef & Guinness Pie and also the Irish Stew. Everything was absolutely DELICIOUS!! The staff was attentive, kind and very helpful, but the one person we will always remember is Jill the manager. She knows how to welcome you and treated us like family. Great service!! She wrote down a list with recommendations of places & addresses which are must sees while we were here. Best first experience ever!!

This place was the epitome of where I thought Irish pubs would be like. I loved it! Interior: Great spot for large groups. I came during the time of a live show who was signing Irish folksongs. Damn this guy got some beats and some tunes. I love the environment and the wholesome community that you get brought into with the interactive music and playing. Food: Beef Guinness Pie: It is so comforting this food lol After a long day get a pint or whiskey and have this meal. It hits the spot and just makes you happy. The soupy sauce is great as well. Overall: This place just got me so happy to be in Dublin. The music was dope af. I sang along and it was beautiful lol

Duo performing some Irish traditionals and interesting acoustic versions of U2, Springsteen, and other familiar bands.

Lundy Foot's is a great spot for Irish drink, food and music in Tempe Bar. It's a few blocks away from the craziest part of Temple Bar, so you might avoid some of the worst of it. Service isn't great here--we had to wait 15 minutes after our first round was dry to get anyone to take an order for a second--but the patience may be worth it for great music and drinks that aren't as expensive as other spots along Essex. Cocktails are quite pricey, but the Guinness won't drain your wallet as quickly.

Fine time with a pint of Kilkenny and of O'Hara's. Top it off with Writer's Tears neat, and you've done Dublin right.

Normally I check Yelp for some idea of food suggestions, particularly when traipsing through a new town. Unfortunately couldn't find any info on Yelp when I stumbled upon this pub late on Bank Holiday Monday. Admittedly my partner and I had been traveling all day, and we were hungry and tired. We decided to take a chance at Lundy Foots. And I must say I'm glad we did. If you are a tourist visiting Dublin for the first time and searching for the quintessential "Irish" experience, this just may be the perfect place for you. They have a little bit of something for everyone. The ground floor is romantically dim, and the dark walls are covered with historical photographs. There is plenty of room for large groups, but also intimate booths that are tucked into corners and alcoves. They have an impressive selection of draught beers, and a rather fine whisky collection. While I didn't catch any word of happy hour, they do have slightly reduced prices on spirits before dinner service, usually not more than €1. The food was relatively standard fare, but well-executed. My partner had a deep-fried Edam sandwich with gherkins and a vegetable stew with brown bread. I had the fish and chips (ok, I was in full-on tourist mode...), and they were just fine, not overly deep-fried. A great guitar/mandolin duo called Bualadh Bos played both trad Irish tunes and some classic covers, all while engaging the crowd. I understand they have live music every night from 9-11pm. We might swing by just to catch some music and a pint before we leave Dublin. While I'm admittedly unsure how this place would gauge with locals, it was a fine time for a visitor such as myself. Do recommend.

Great joint, excellent service from these folks. Orgill (sp?) from Turkey is an outstanding bar tender. Highly recommend his Old Fashioned!

Found this pub on the edge of the Temple Bar District which was not too busy with tourists. Came in on a Late Friday afternoon for an early dinner and a pint of Guinness. They had live traditional Irish music and dancers performing when we arrived. We were greeted in a very friendly manner and seated at our choice of table. Drink and food orders taken quickly, we sat back and enjoyed the ambience. My wife had a Ribeye Steak with vegetables which she raved about. I had the Steak and Guinness Pie with mashed potatoes on the side which was delicious. The service was very attentive and the interior of the restaurant was clean and modern. The prices were on par with other area pubs and seemed reasonable. I would come here again.

Tucked down Dame Court just off Dame Street, The Stag's Head is one of those rare pubs that feels genuinely historic rather than designed to look old. The building dates to the late 1800s, and the interior retains the ornate features of a classic Victorian "gin palace"--rich carved wood, stained glass, brass rails, and a warm, glowing bar that feels wonderfully preserved. We stopped in around 4:30 pm, which turned out to be a perfect time to visit. There were other patrons enjoying drinks and food, but the atmosphere was calm and relaxed rather than loud or rowdy. It felt like the kind of place where locals drop in for a quiet pint on their way home from work before the evening crowd arrives. The staff were excellent--friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good (we failed to take photos because we were too busy enjoying it). As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see the Impossible burger front and center on their menu; it was deliciously prepared with guacamole on a brioche bun, and not an afterthought on the menu. My companions both chose the Irish Beef Burger, and said it was excellent. One thing to know: this is a traditional Victorian pub, so cocktails aren't really part of the program. Expect beer, wine, or spirits rather than mixed drinks. In a place like this, that actually feels exactly right. Other pubs do serve mixed drinks. Between the history, the ambience, the quality of the food, and the wonderful staff, The Stag's Head is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've experienced a real piece of Dublin.

My husband and I stopped by for dinner and I ordered a caesar salad and their fish chowder. The caesar was great but my gosh the fish chowder and accompanying brown bread rocked my socks. They do live music on occasion as well and so we were able to enjoy that while sipping our Guinness. The prices are reasonable and the service is friendly. From the…read moreoutside, it plants itself confidently among Dublin's historic streets with a façade that promises hearty fare and good pints; inside, the space is warm and inviting with dark wood, exposed brick, beautiful murals, and comfortable seating that encourages lingering. My party of six walked in on a Wednesday night at around 7:30pm; at that time, the restaurant was about half-full, but filled up over the course of our meal. The menu has plenty of options ranging from healthy salads to traditional Irish dishes to your standard hearty pub fare. Drinks are also fairly priced here, and they have a good range of ales and lagers on tap (and of course, the classic Guinness). I opted for their Rustic Dublin Coddle (€20.50), which is a sizeable bowl of warming soup with two chargrilled, tender pork sausages, smoky bacon, soft potatoes, and onion, served with toasted sourdough bread. I appreciated the clean taste of the soup (made with an herbed chicken broth), which cut the rich fattiness of the sausage and bacon. I do wish the soup had been served with a more traditional Irish brown bread, but the sourdough was tasty nonetheless. Another great dish was the Waterloo Prime Irish Beef Burger (€19), which is a large patty of juicy, prime Irish beef served atop a toasted bun, with red onions, baby gem lettuce, pickled gherkins, and a tangy smoked Dublin cheddar. Some friends ordered the Superfood Salad (€15), which has a plethora of fresh vegetables and grains, but they noted it was quite bland, even with the French dressing. Yes, it's a bit on the pricey side for a pub, but I find Waterlooo Bar unique in that the atmosphere feels classic but lively: you get that laid-back Dublin pub energy with a hint of sophistication that makes it great for both casual meals and nights out. The food is solid if not stellar, the vibe is fun, and prices are reasonable for the area; a satisfying pick for an Irish pub dinner.

Doheny & Nesbitt -- 4-5 Lower Baggot Street, Dublin 2, Ireland…read moreVisited: June 2026 Five stars. Doheny & Nesbitt is the most authentic, atmospheric, and essential pub in Dublin -- and a visit here is not just a drink, it is a genuine encounter with the soul of the city. Why Doheny & Nesbitt is the best pub in Dublin: This iconic Victorian pub has stood on Lower Baggot Street since 1828, when John Heron first opened its doors. Nearly two centuries later, it remains one of the most photographed pubs in Dublin -- a protected structure and a masterwork of Victorian pub architecture, with dark mahogany woodwork, intimate snugs, gas-style lighting, and nooks that seem designed for lingering conversations. Walking through the door is like stepping back into the Dublin of Yeats and Joyce, yet the energy is entirely alive and present. The atmosphere is unmatched. Three floors, multiple snugs, live music seven nights a week, and a crowd that spans suited professionals, Dublin locals, politicians, literary figures, and travelers from around the world. Doheny & Nesbitt has earned its reputation as what locals affectionately call "The Doheny & Nesbitt School of Economics" -- for generations, it has been the unofficial meeting place of Dublin's political and media class. You feel that history in every corner. The pints are poured with the precision and patience that only an Irish institution of this caliber can deliver. A Guinness here is a benchmark. The cocktail and whiskey selection -- reflected in their beautifully curated Drinks Bible -- is equally impressive, with an excellent range of Irish whiskeys and seasonal cocktails. The pub food is genuinely good: hearty, fresh, and perfectly matched to the surroundings. The staff are the heart of the place -- friendly, quick, and authentically warm in the best Irish tradition. On a busy evening, the bar hums with the kind of easy conviviality that no new bar concept can manufacture. Steps from St. Stephen's Green, the Conrad Dublin, and the Shelbourne Hotel, Doheny & Nesbitt is perfectly positioned as the ideal Dublin pub stop before or after dinner. For anyone asking where to find the best traditional Irish pub in Dublin, the most historic pub in Dublin 2, or simply where to experience authentic Dublin pub culture -- the answer is here, at 4-5 Lower Baggot Street. Do not miss it.
