Badbobs Temple Bar

This is an awesome little bar! The drinks are good and the live music was out of this world. Great vibe!

Hip hop RnB Top 40 mixed age dancing locals and tourists and open late night on a Sat. Crowded but not too bad. Some beers on tap and good liquor selection. They supposedly have food but I see none lately night lol. Service was good. Ambiance is casual bar club dark drunken dance vibes lol!

Cool atmosphere! Everyone just wants to have a good time! Big bar with lots of high tables all around. Enough dance room to swing your pint of beer around! Lots of interesting folks hang out here! From super young early 20's to older crowd like mid forties! It was a nice mix! People were super friendly! Met people there from Germany, Brasil, Paris and some local! If you don't drink alcohol like me, they do have a Heineken 0.0 which has ZERO alcohol! I wasn't sure that was possible but apparently it is!

I came here on the recommendation of a couple of other tourists who had a phenomenal experience. I know a lot of the Temple Bar restaurants are hurting due to Covid, so I stopped in the next day to give them my business. Service was really slow. It was not slow for the neighboring tables, just for me. The neighboring tables all had groups of between two and six people, and I was there on my own, so I'm thinking that the not so squeaky wheel just didn't get the grease. Dinner was good, drinks were good, but it took forever and a day to get served and get out of there.

Good beer.

With a name like Bad Bob's, what can go wrong. In this case, nothing. Deciding not to attempt the Temple Bar, we chose this establishment because it looked interesting from the outside. It is a relatively traditional Irish pub. This was a good choice as the beers were cold, the food was tasty and the music was perfect. The decor allows you to look around and find lots of unusual paraphernalia. Our waitress was very efficient and always seemed ready to serve us. The men's bathroom is downstairs and quite a trek through maze like hallways. There is even a lift if you have trouble negotiating stairs when drunk or sober. When we were there, there was a stag party in full swing and the Guinesses were flowing freely. Definitely worth a visit if you in Dublin and don't know where to eat.

Homemade soup, so yummy! Plus Guinness because I'm in Dublin!

Wonderful atmosphere, service, and pub food. The half pint of Guinness was also excellent. This is a great pub just a block or so away from a very busy area. I had the bacon and cabbage soup, which was very flavorful and filling. If you have to visit the loo, you'll need to leave bread crumbs on the way, so that you can find your way back! Well, there are signs, but depending on how much Guinness you've drunk, the signs might not be all that helpful. Let's just say that I found my way back, but I was getting a tad confused at one point. Also, depending on where you sit, it might be a little dark to see your food. We had a cozy table in a little nook but this resulted in difficulty seeing, or was that the Guinness. I swear I only drank the half pint, I think. Highly recommend the place!

The short: a pub for all of your needs. ;) The longer: our Uber driver recommended this spot, which almost makes up for the fact that he ripped us off for being American... but really: we had lunch at this spot and enjoyed the food, drinks, ambience & service. The wings are amazing. The fish and chips were super fresh & they had really huge potato skins. Our waitress told us that the pub had good music at night, so on our last night; we came in for a late night bite and some music. It was packed downstairs with people dancing & drinking, and they had a couple of tables upstairs with food service. I had the chicken club- it was amazing. Also: my friends had burgers that looked unreal. Need food? Drink? Spot to chill? Spot to listen to American music? This is your spot.

Just about the only light in the place was on the tap

The fifth and final stop of the pub crawl, I was a little lubricated at this point but not so much that I couldn't keep track of what was going on. Bad Bobs was loud as F. Seriously, not possible to have any sort of conversation even shouting directly into the ear of your friend. Super loud. And very dark inside with minimal lighting. This was at 10:30 PM on a Friday night and the place was pretty well packed with drinkers and people who clearly did not have to go to work the next morning. Beer was cold and I had a shot of something called "Piranha."

According to some local searches Bad Bobs has some of the best wings in Dublin. My hotel was only a few blocks away so I decided to give it a try. First, the service was excellent. The place was extremely busy with reservations but a very nice waitress said she would squeeze me in between parties. She not only was nice, but also suggested my whole meal saying, " this is what I get almost every-time." I went in wanting to try Bad Bobs special sauce but she told me to get the Louisiana sauce on my wings. Who am I to disagree ? I ordered fries extra crispy with Louisiana sauced wings. The sauce flavor was one of the top sauces I have ever had. It was creamy but had a kick. Perfect. The only negative to me was the size of the wings. They were extremely small, but did give you a bunch. More than enough for 1 person. The fries were good but kind of soggy. Slightly disappointed in that. Great sauce. Great service. PS. They have live music on weekends.

Bar gets pretty packed since it is in Temple Bar, but the boys behind the bar always made sure my glass was full.

The authentic Victorian setting, the Victorian mahogany fittings, the mosaic marble tiled floors and granite tabletops, the mahogany bar, capped with red Connemara marble, follows the classic Victorian architectural pattern. The staff are helpful, friendly and patient since their accent is hard to understand sometime. My 1st beer and 1st Irish food, all I can say is what a meal, just simple delish. Being here is just a wondrous experience, the place is cosy, warm and the friendly of the people. So glad I picked this place as my first of Dublin.

Tucked down Dame Court just off Dame Street, The Stag's Head is one of those rare pubs that feels genuinely historic rather than designed to look old. The building dates to the late 1800s, and the interior retains the ornate features of a classic Victorian "gin palace"--rich carved wood, stained glass, brass rails, and a warm, glowing bar that feels wonderfully preserved. We stopped in around 4:30 pm, which turned out to be a perfect time to visit. There were other patrons enjoying drinks and food, but the atmosphere was calm and relaxed rather than loud or rowdy. It felt like the kind of place where locals drop in for a quiet pint on their way home from work before the evening crowd arrives. The staff were excellent--friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good (we failed to take photos because we were too busy enjoying it). As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see the Impossible burger front and center on their menu; it was deliciously prepared with guacamole on a brioche bun, and not an afterthought on the menu. My companions both chose the Irish Beef Burger, and said it was excellent. One thing to know: this is a traditional Victorian pub, so cocktails aren't really part of the program. Expect beer, wine, or spirits rather than mixed drinks. In a place like this, that actually feels exactly right. Other pubs do serve mixed drinks. Between the history, the ambience, the quality of the food, and the wonderful staff, The Stag's Head is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've experienced a real piece of Dublin.

The candelabras, mood lighting and high, domed ceilings make this place enchantingly atmospheric, but let's not forget the practicalities. For fun early houses that serve already somewhat inebriated people, try The Chancery. The Wind Jammer is the type of early house that caters to shift workers and Gardaí from Pearse St coming off the night shift. Apart from a few couples the morning after the Trinity Ball, they wouldn't let in too many post-club revellers. The door is closed most early mornings, and they have a CCTV camera to give ya a good hard scrutinising before they'll let you in. The only time I was there for early pints, there was only one other group of young lads there and the barman looked like he was about to stop serving them. During the rest of the day and night, the Wind Jammer is a quiet pub frequented mainly by old, grumpy locals, who would sooner bite your head off than ask you the time of day. If you're really desperate for a drink and can't make it til half ten when the rest of the pubs open, by all means go to The Wind Jammer. Otherwise, there isn't that much else to recommend to it. Oh, one other thing. The Wind Jammer is the closest pub to Windmll Lane Studios, so U2 and The Saw Doctors among others have retired there for post-recording session pints over the years. Not the type of thing that would interest me, but sure it might interest you so I thought that I'd tack it on the end there
