5 stars for Alanna and all the great times I've had here at R Bar for the past 5 years of living in…read moreKoreatown. Yesterday at 10 pm, I attempted to take my company for drinks following a team outing. I arrived first with 2 of my employees. Bartender working made us all super uncomfortable. He was very rude even your security had his eyebrows raised and shrugged. Dude was having a hard time changing out the receipt paper while we were waiting to check out. Came up to us crumpled the remaining paper in his hands in our face and said we'll need to wait longer while he changes it out. He could have just changed it instead of crumbling it in front of us like a psycho. I asked to close out my tab, there's other great bars in the area to which he couldn't recall the card name despite only being in the bar for 10 or less minutes. He asked for the name, I provided my business name (I manage 2 businesses and both teams came out for the outing). I mistakenly gave my other business name to which his response was " OH SO YOU DONT HAVE A LAST NAME". I was still so weirded out about his whole demeanor and really just wanted to leave. He made it so difficult. The card was not my last name, it was my second business. He then retorted with why I said my last name and like bro you repeatedly ( 3 times) asked if I didn't have a last name. ALL WHILE CONTINUOUSLY CUTTING ME OFF. Luckily AND unfortunately only 4 of us had arrived so I quickly diverted the other 15 of us to Normandie Bar ( DEFINITELY RECOMMEND) Karaoke looked set up but he said it's a slow Monday why would they bother. It's always the chopped guys making people feel uncomfortable. I've attempted to connect with Laura on LinkedIn as if I had an employee as such being the face of my business, I'd want to know ASAP. Funniest part of the night is when he said he was beverage director of 5 years and he created all the drinks we enjoyed ( PBR, Modelo, & Vodka Cranberry) what a guy! He then threatened to visit our company. I say threatened as in no way shape or form were any of us comfortable with him knowing where we worked and he 10000% knew it and used it. Very disappointed

Hey, are you even 21??…read more I'm gonna need to see some ID before I can let you enter... (Moments later) You can't possibly be 21, you were born in 2005... (Counting backwards on my fingers) Oh. My. God, I'm getting old!!!! ---------------------------- Alright now that we got that out of the way.... Listen up, & Listen up Good. Cause Tonight, Tonight, I'm setting the Bar straight! Now,.... Make sure to hang onto your ID, stay plenty hydrated & be ready to pace yourself... Cause we are about to Hit the bar running and go full throttle with some virtual bar hopping. But first, let's see just how many styles of bars there really are. -Ahh the classic, no-frills Dive Bar -The Cocktail Bar/The Martini Bar -The Sports bar, The BeerGarden -The Pub, The Tavern, The Biker Bar (make sure you wear your best leather pants) -The Hotel Bar, The Rooftop Bar, The Lounge -The Night Club, The Comedy Club, The Karaoke Bar -The Tiki Bar, The Wine Bar -The hidden Speakeasy (my personal Fav.) And of course, where even at 8am there's no judgement passed... -The Airport Bar. Speaking of Traveling... Bonus: Consider yourself lucky if your hotel room just happens to have a well-stocked mini bar. (These are getting fewer and fewer as I travel) Yeah, each bar listed above has its own vibe, and depending on your mood, your own individual style or even what kind of night out on the town you are looking to have... The type of bar you choose is important. But sometimes, the Bar Chooses You! Bar Magnolia quietly enters the chat. It was October 11th, 2025 and my wife & I just checked into Hotel Figueroa in DTLA. (EPIC REVIEW Coming Soon!!!) While we were waiting for our room to be ready, we decided to check out the Hotel Bar Lounge... First thought, Color me Impressed! High ceilings, Natural lighting, classy decor, comfy couches... Yeah, take your time with that room, we'll wait! So we plopped down onto their sofa, waited for a cocktail menu, and let the "we left the kids at home with Grandma; let's enjoy being kid-free for the night begin". $18.00 cocktails....Lets Goooo!! Looking back at the Photos, I can't exactly recall what we ordered... Was it a whiskey sour? Was it a paper plane?? Honestly, Who cares! They tasted great. I was sitting across from a beautiful woman. And we were responsibly adulting. What more could a guy ask for?? I'm glad you asked! After a long car ride in, sipping on water, then the first few sips of my cocktail, I suddenly had to go... Luckily, the restrooms are located just adjacent to the bar area and DAMN are they clean!! Hey, if a bar restroom is well taken care of, you know the place has Class.... And Bar Magnolia has the Class to Match! Of course, there is bar stool seating at the bar... (I usually prefer sitting at the bar as there's always some great stories to be heard and when it time to order another round, you can literally just cut out the... Middle Man (Aka waiting for your server to come check back in) In addition to the bar top stools, there are also low top tables, and a few couch-chairs with a low top table for more intimate conversations. Besides those $18 craft cocktails, a short, well Curated list of bubbles, vino and draft beers are all up for grabs. Unfortunately, we had stopped to eat before we arrived (bad move on our part), but next time, and THERE WILL BE A NEXT TIME, we will definitely partake in their food menu (cause damn, did it look GOOD!) So whether you are a guest of Hotel Figueroa, you are leaving the Crypto Arena after a concert and want to paint the town red, or you are simply just wanting to sit, relax and enjoy a nice cocktail at a classy, upscale, but not so pretentious Cocktail Lounge... Bar Magnolia is your place! Well, it's almost closing time, they are about to call for Last Call, so order us another round, bottoms up and Cheers to us!!!

I arrived at 3:30 p.m. for a 6:00 p.m. World Cup match after being told by the establishment a week…read moreearlier that seating was first-come, first-served and that arriving before 4:00 p.m. would not be a problem. When I arrived, there were only about 15-20 people ahead of me in line. As the afternoon progressed, the line stretched down the street, yet no staff member came outside to communicate capacity limits, seating availability, or where the line should reasonably end. Even more concerning, patrons were not admitted until after the match had already started. The situation quickly became chaotic. People who had waited for hours were understandably frustrated, and many were openly voicing their concerns. Groups were admitted one at a time, creating further delays. When it was finally my turn to enter, I was informed that all tables had been taken and that only standing room remained. I was allowed to look inside before deciding whether to stay. What I observed was particularly disappointing: many individuals who had not been ahead of me in line were already seated at tables. I have no idea how they got in but I suspect they were allowed in through some other entrance. After waiting more than two hours based on the information provided by the establishment, this felt unfair and misleading. Most disappointing was having invited friends to join me for the match, only to have the experience ruined by what appeared to be poor planning and inadequate crowd management. The demand for a major World Cup match should not have come as a surprise. If the venue anticipated significant attendance, additional seating, staffing, and clear communication should have been put in place. This was one of the most poorly managed event experiences I have encountered. At a minimum, I believe the ownership should publicly acknowledge what occurred and apologize to the many customers who invested hours of their time only to be left without the accommodations they were promised. Unfortunately, I will not be returning.

My friend and I split the love bug and it was disappointing. It tasted fruity, but watered down and it felt like there was barely an alcohol in it. I also tasted my other friends' drinks which were also not good. The raspberry beret and the peach paloma were both bitter and not pleasant tasting.   For food, the only decent thing was the buldak. It was cheesy and I liked how they infused the corn cheese into it. The chicken was good and juicy. The tteokkbokki was weird. Firstly, they didn't include the parmesan crisps as they mentioned in the menu. Secondly, the sauce was different compared to other tteokkbokki sauces I'm used to. It was dark red in color, soupy, and oily which I did not like. Thirdly, the rice and fish cakes themselves were very unique in shape. The cakes and sausages weren't that bad and the textures were good, but the sauce was just not it.  Lastly, the ramen was such a scam. For $15, it was just regular shin ramyeon with some mussels, jalapenos and peppers added. For all the food dishes, the portions were all small relative to the price and were not great for sharing in big groups.   The interior was spacious and vibes were decent. The music from the DJ booth was good. The photobooth wasn't working when we visited which was a minus because my friends and I like the photobooths. There's a free and private parking lot next to the pocha which can get filled.   Overall, not the greatest experience at this pocha mostly because of the food and drinks and I would probably not visit again.

It started to get busy like an hour after we arrived. The place looks very nice, it was very clean. When we got the menu, we were like is this all they have for food. The menu is very very limited. I was pretty disappointed I wanted the flautas and they did not have that. Mind you online menu they have the flautas as an option. I chose the tacos. Which I was disappointed as well since online it says with handmade tortilla, however they were served with regular tortilla. We ended up getting two order of tacos and a basket of fries. The fries are okay, they are not worth $11. Overall, I feel like the menu should be updated.

This event masterminded by HOLIDAY KIRK was completely off the charts!…read more His charisma and magical powers to keep the vibe and crowd grooving was astounding! He GOTZ SKILLZ! The music was bumping, the crowd was chilling and the venue was perfect. The drinks were pouring and the bites were fulfilling. Here are the details: SOMEWHERE SPECIAL definitely is a unique venue that is underrated. It has a pool and patio area for those that want to be mermaids. There is an enclosed area for ordering and enjoying ADULT LIBATONS, and a cute bistro setting area with several niches to sit and congregate. The view of the city was nice...maybe not wow ..but the environment created by Holiday Kirk made it worth the 75 miles drive to check out the Sade Tribute event. Drinks: drink options were limited but they had the more popular ones available such as an Ole Fashion, margarita and shots. Anything like Midori or amaretto sours were not available. Drinks were about $15-$25, which is expected in the area we were in. Bites: they offered many appetizers and pub options such as charcuterie boards, sandwiches, fries etc enough to share. Parking: there are several options of parking areas and one right next door for $15. Honestly, I cannot say it enough! Holiday Kirk's interpersonal skills and charisma was the soul of the success of this event. Will definitely attend one of his events again.
