Friday & Saturday nights, sure, but a Sunday afternoon? No thank you. So, I can only recommend this place if you: 1. want to walk thru a sketchy alleyway parking lot to an unmarked back door of a building. 2. don't want to talk to other members of your party because the club music is so loud you can't hear your server. 3. want to spend a lot of money on drinks, about $20 per. 4. want very minimal food choices. 5. like to use the bathroom in the dark because there are no lights! The steak was cooked really poorly and was very very chewy. Sauce was nearly inedible. We each took one bite and could not eat any more of it. First time ever leaving a steak dish alone, ever. I like the idea of a wasabi infused au poivre sauce but it was extra bitter and had a funky sour taste to it. 2. Kimchi was WAY too salty. I understand kimchi is salted during brining, but we each had one piece and couldn't eat any more. I lean towards a saltier palate but I just couldn't eat more. 3. The chicken wings tasted fine, but they weren't even tossed with the sauce completely. Some pieces had only a few drops of sauce. None were fully coated. I'm not sure if that's intentional, but I wanted to point it out. 4. Salad was served in a full bowl and we were instructed to toss the salad ourselves. Either the salad should be tossed with the dressing or we should have a bigger bowl? This might just sound nit-picky, so I'll just leave it at that. 5. We ordered one of everything on the late night menu, and we were told that the tuna was sold out. No problem. When the food came out, we had 2 orders of the wings come out. We only ordered one. When we asked, we found out that the server mistakenly put one order of the wings and one order of the wings combo. Honest mistake, no problem. We had everything come out except the kimchi pancake, and when we asked about it, we were told, "oh, that must be sold out too then." Maybe the kitchen had an off night? I even thought possibly it was because we went too late? But we arrived at the restaurant just past 12 and restaurant closes at 2am on a Saturday, and we didn't receive any notice of a last call in the kitchen, so I don't think that was the issue. Ambiance was fine, server was kind - just hard to get past the food. I replied to an email from the restaurant asking about our dining experience with the above mentioned and got zero response, so now I feel like this just needs to be shared to the public. Maybe the generic automated email is also telling to the laziness of the food. I'm sure their actual dinner menu is better, but what's the point if the food isn't consistent across the board? Maybe don't do the late night menu if it's going to be regarded as unimportant. Again, this is my one experience there from just the late night menu. Not sure if i want to give it another try for a while, but one bad experience usually carries more weight than good ones, unfortunately. Lastly, for a "no tipping" policy where they enforce a 20% fee to cover their operations, I should expect much better from the restaurant. Very, very disappointing. Was really hopeful for this restaurant, but here we are. Hope they do better moving forward.

But that being said ... the membership that you get for purchasing bottles doesn't meet expectations. I have spent upwards of $1000 in bottles over the last few months and that has given me a little bit of a membership. Well, we went in for their newest addition, the devil's quarter, and all was good until the end of the night. Well we're given a limit to drinks at the post show bar. Me, having a membership, thought oh maybe we can stay another hour and have a drink at our favorite place... nope apparently members are only allowed to have fun on Tuesday... so I guess my membership is irrelevant because it's not a Tuesday (when I usually work), not to mention the $500 in bottles I now have to walk around with to find another post show hangout because we were no longer allowed to stay. I would love to be able to spend more at the post show bar but the speakeasy part looses its value if it's limited to even its members.

The atmosphere is immersive, theatrical, moody, and every nook and cranny of this place is beautifully detailed. Our group embraced the requested all-black dress code, and I was a little disappointed that some other guests didn't play along. When a place puts this much effort into creating a particular world, dressing the part really does make the experience more fun. The spirits themselves were excellent. We tasted vodka, whiskey, and rum, and all three were remarkably smooth, interesting, and clearly very high quality. I loved that the tasting was guided rather than just having drinks dropped in front of us. The storytelling and presentation made us pay attention to what we were actually tasting and gave the evening a nice sense of progression. We also happened to be there while comic artist Matt Harley of Marvel fame was sketching, which felt perfectly suited to the setting and made an already unusual night even more memorable. The space is gorgeous: candlelight, artwork, strange little details everywhere, dramatic lighting, beautiful glassware, and even the outdoor fire element. There's so much to look at that you feel like you're discovering something new every time you turn around. Our whole group LOVES Halloween, so this felt like the absolute perfect way to kick off spooky season. It has exactly the kind of dark, mysterious, slightly magical atmosphere we were hoping for without feeling cheesy or gimmicky. We loved the rum so much that we ended up buying a bottle, which also granted us Level 1 membership, so this definitely won't be our only visit. Such a fun choice for a birthday celebration, date night, or a night out with friends when you want something completely different from the usual bar experience. We're already looking forward to going back and seeing what our new membership unlocks.
