I love this place so much. You can see how thoughtful they were with planning the space and construction and details and materials. Truly a gorgeous place to be in. Also the menu, beer, wine, food, all so well done. We got the schnitzel, mackerel, sauerkraut, cucumber and potato salad, eggplant, birthday cake. All was super delicious. We often eat fish at restaurants and struggle with it and we were so happy and surprised to see chopsticks. The cucumber and potato salad was flavored perfectly. The mackerel was amazing. The only critical feedback was the schnitzel was the least exciting when usually fried food is my favorite. It was almost too thin as if I was mostly eating breaded parts and flavor felt very mild. Maybe a tad more salt or garlic? Anyway, just my 2 cents if helpful. A 5 out of 5 overall. Really excited to bring more family and friends.

The server here was very friendly and helpful. The setup and ambience were also great. The food was overpriced. Would only come back here for a drink

Oktoberfest beer and a menu.

The 4 stars is for atmosphere, the nice October weather and our friendly server that took our order. I think I'll go an unofficial 3 stars on the rest. Street parking is tough but across sunset and jaywalking works out. They have valet, but that's not for me. There isn't anyone to greet you or tell you how it works. I think you can either order at the little window or sit, or you can grab a menu , sit, flag a server and get it done tableside. I laughed when she described the food options. "Schnitzel with a side of lemon." Lemon isn't a side, so a big ol' flat piece of breaded pork on a plate, nothing else, ok. "What do you suggest as a side?" I asked. "The local favorite salad is the daikon, and it is raw, seasoned with salt and pepper." You know, I think the locals have forgotten what food is. We split an enormous pork schnitzel and a scoop of potato salad. Both very tasty, I mean the food was really good, it was just served so un-German-ly or even un -Asian fusion or whatever we're going for here. I need some sauce and some sides, not just a plate of meat. Here is what I would do. Rather than give you a pizza sized piece of pork for $36, split it in half and fill the other side of the plate with that scoop of potato salad and a pile of that dry daikon. I feel sure that whoever fried this tasty pork can make some kind of sauce for it. If we can't get a nice chicken fried steak gravy or maybe a mustard sauce, then just something to give it a little wet, please. Some review described this as a work in progress, I kind of get that. I don't mind paying table side in advance, but an 18/20/25% tip structure on people dropping off food to your table on a patio with no heaters in sight? I wish you'd started with 10%, no one checked in and we had to get our own water. The Oktoberfest beer was solid though. Good luck.

What a beautiful outdoor space. Love the chill and laidback vibe here! I'm not usually a fan of mackerel but this is unlike anything I've had! Not fishy, delicious and a must try. You can order at the counter or wait for someone to come to your table. Everyone is friendly. Valet only. Kid and pet friendly. Very popular spot on Saturdays!

This place is the most stunning secret for only the moment in my neighborhood of Echo Park. The garden and the beer is delicious. I did not eat the food as of yet but will return stop there on a walk in 105° LA uncomfortable weather, and went into this absolute paradise as you go up the stairs to beautiful. Food looks fantastic. Can't wait to return.

Loved the ambiance! A bit pricey for what it is, but the service was great and the food was good! The very chill vibe and all outdoor seating is such a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Loved.

Nice place to hang out for a drink. The food is good but a bit on the pricey side. The German cuisine isn't real authentic but still tasty.

Good service, really great beer and cider, nice atmosphere, decent bar food. The location is near the Chinatown Metro station, so we walked the 0.2 miles. Everyone goes the opposite way from that station, going to Chinatown. Instead, we went the opposite way. It's the second time I've gone east from that station, walking on N Spring Street (used it once to go to Majordomo...HPB is a lot closer). Learnt that it's better to keep on the west side of Spring (next to the park), rather than cross immediately. The homeless encampments are really built up on the East side, fully occupying the sidewalk, making you walk in traffic. It's a pretty industrial part of the city, with a bit of street parking near the brewery. It was already fairly busy less than an hour after opening on a Saturday. It's 'sit-yourself', with both outdoor and indoor seating. There are multiple lines where you can place both your food and beer order. Beers are given right away, with food being delivered to your table later. Ended up placing my entire order at once, closing it out immediately. They use Toast as their payment processor, making it easy to get a digital receipt. Rattlesnake Wit Pitcher ($33) - enough for 4 pints. Witbier is my favorite style, and this one really hit the mark for me. Extremely light and fresh. Will seek this out to see if the cans are as good as the draught was. Granada Sincere Cider ($12) - my wife enjoyed her draft apple cider. Three food items, all pretty solid. Fish Chips appetizers ($18.50) used smaller cod pieces, well fried with decent fries. The Chips & Queso ($7.25) came out first: not a huge amount, but thick greasy chips that tasted good in the homemade yellow queso. Our cashier suggested animal cheese wedges ($12) - sidewinder french fried potatoes, covered in a chipotle sauce with grilled onions. It was tasty. All the bathrooms (three I think) are private gender neutral, with a common sink for washing. It got more and more crowded as we sat, and by the time we left an hour later, all the tables were taken. Popular place on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.

[Parking]: Metered parking wasn't super easy to find and I had to park two blocks away (near intersection of Yale St & W College St) from Chinatown Central Plaza. [Event]: General Lee's is best known for hosting weekday Hong Kong style Mahjong night (sponsored by Mahjong Underground) and please check the IG page for the exact date (e.g. February 2026 was every Wednesday and March 2026 is every Monday). No RSVP is required and our party just simply walked in at 8 PM sharp. Free admission, but 21+ only. [Pro tip]: Please come as early as the cocktail lounge can get pretty crowded within 15 minutes of opening time (8 PM). Otherwise Mahjong tables will be taken up pretty quickly. [Experience]: There were 7 beginner tables on the 2nd level and 9 advanced table on the 1st level. The lounge had DJ playing music so the lounge can get a bit loud. The beginner tables had two laminated pages on how to read Mahjong tiles and how to play Hong Kong style Mahjong. The players at the beginner tables were friendly and our table played open-hand, but it would be great if an actual instructor can teach us more advanced rules. Restroom (unisex) was quite clean. [Conclusion]: Expect packed crowd on Mahjong nights with friendly Mahjong players, but this is not exactly the best place to really learn how to play Mahjong. I see this lounge as more of a place to socialize with other strangers.

Finding Hidden Gems: Art District Brewing in Little Tokyo, LA…read more One of my favorite rituals when traveling is hunting down the best local breweries -- and Los Angeles did not disappoint. Tucked away in the vibrant heart of Little Tokyo, Art District Brewing instantly caught my attention. The atmosphere alone made it worth the visit, with that perfect blend of industrial cool and neighborhood charm that only LA seems to pull off. The tap selection was impressive -- thoughtfully curated and clearly crafted with intention. But honestly? The food is what stole the show. I always love leaning on a server's recommendations, and this time it paid off beautifully. The chicken tenders arrived golden, perfectly crispy on the outside, and impossibly juicy within. These weren't your average bar bites -- they were the kind of dish that makes you pause mid-conversation just to appreciate the moment. Whether you're a craft beer obsessive or simply someone who appreciates great food in a great setting, Art District Brewing belongs on your LA itinerary.
