Considering this is a newer, spacious store in North County, there is very little excuse for how inefficient it is. Every time I have visited, there has been a long line, yet there is typically only one employee helping customers at the front while at least one or more employees remain in the back. It creates the impression that the front counter is chronically understaffed, even during busy periods. I frequently visit the UPS locations in Rancho Peñasquitos, Carmel Mountain, and Encinitas, and they are almost always quick, organized, and well staffed. This location stands out for all the wrong reasons. I have never had a visit here that did not involve an unnecessarily long wait, and the customer interactions often feel disorganized, as though the staff are still training. I will often delay my returns to avoid this location, despite it being one of the closest to me. Another frustrating difference is how rigid this store is about minor things that other UPS Stores handle without issue. For example, I have only encountered one other location that insisted on charging or making an issue out of taping an Amazon return box. Every other UPS Store I have used has handled situations like that without making it an unnecessary point of contention. It leaves the impression that customer service is simply not a priority here. Lastly, when one customer is taking an extended amount of time, it seems like common sense to open the second register for customers making quick drop-offs or Amazon returns instead of allowing the line to continue growing. The setup is there, but it rarely seems to be used. I have been patient and given this location plenty of chances to improve but the experience is remarkably consistent and unfortunately not in a good way. Something about the staffing, workflow, or management needs to change because this location falls well below the standard set by nearly every other UPS Store in the area.

What stood out the most was his attitude. No matter how busy it got, he stayed calm, kind, and welcoming to everyone who walked in. On my recent trip to Staples I brought a pencil sharpener to return that I had purchased online. I…read morewent to the front because there was no line at the time and I have been stuck in long ones before. The person working the register got my order id and then hands me a receipt. He was not trained to confirm the details about the amount of my return. Unfortunately I was only given back the value of 60 % the cost of the item online and 50% of the cost in store. The month before this I had placed an online order that never arrived so part of my purchase was using a credit, but not the kind of credit that requires a minimum purchase. So I asked if I could exchange the item instead and he called a manager who was not interested in even listening and she called some 800 number and handed the phone to me. If the employee had confirmed the amount of the return I would have been able to do an exchange, but his failure to do that cost me money. And the manager was unwilling to cancel the return so I left without my pencil sharpener and lost the credit that they gave me for failing to deliver my order. This is not a lot of money, but i expent cashiers to be competent and I expect managers to train them. The store manager was awful, did not care about the customer and took no responsibility for running the store.

This is the only location in our area that does the passports and the staff at this location are very rude when you don't have your materials or an appointment. Even tho online it says walk in welcome. The staff here will NOT help you. They don't answer any questions and just bark at you that it's all online. They seem to be VERY irritated that they have to do the passport process. There's one lady in particular who've I've now dealt with 3 times who is absolutely awful- good luck to all the moms just trying to get their kids documents, this place sucks!
