If you want to pack your own package, you have to buy an entire roll of tape and too many packing peanuts, despite them having just enough ready which they will not share with customers. This makes it cost roughly $20 to pack your own package, when the supplies actually used probably cost $1 or less. Go somewhere else. read more

Went here for a Live Scan, paid them for the service, and the female owner acted like she was doing me a favor when I pointed out that they made a mistake in filling out the Live Scan submission. After she finished my fingerprints and submitted them, I asked to review the information. She asked me why I didn't tell her before she submitted it. I replied, because she didn't give me a chance to. One of the fields was incomplete, and I didn't want there to be any delays in processing my Live Scan so I asked what could be done to fix it, and I asked her to follow up with me to let me know if the error was corrected or not. The female owner said simply and hostilely, that I was "asking too much." I left my phone number anyways and asked for a phone call. I paid for a service and got some extra attitude with it, and I never heard back from her. I don't feel like that's the way to run a business. read more

Horrible service! Just like everyone else I had a pretty poor experience. I came in to get a document notarized, and the owner was pretty rude through the process. She had me sign and give my thumbprint, she mumbles to me "side", I'm like what, ok I stamp my finger turning it side to side, and then she's like no no, I said side. Apparently meaning to turn the book sideways to add my fingerprint to the book. She then gives me a piece of paper, says sign, I sign the paper, she's like no no, sign your document, that paper is for you to wipe your finger, then she gives me a look and looks over at her daughter with the look of, this guy is so dumb. I felt the rudeness was unnecessary and I certainly won't be returning. read more

I have come into the store in the past to drop-off UPS packages but not utilize their services until today. My wife & I had come into the location to obtain a notary. Michelle Choi, an attendee at the store and the acting notary, was very kind and professional. She greeted us upon entering, advised us that it would be a few minutes while she completed a transaction with another customer. A minute or two later, a gentleman asked if he could be of service and we indicated what we needed. He smiled and acknowledged us. Michelle then was able to address our needs. She was personable and provided real small talk while we took care of business. She let us know that there is always at least one notary on the premises during business hours (they have 3). That was good to hear because we had come from another Mountain View UPS store that disappointed us when we did a repeat return to that location after being told but their notary would be there but never showed. This store was clean and well kept; in a good location downtown when you need to run errands; and the staff is very nice. There's that saying: don't fix what's not broken. read more

GO TO SHOWERS INSTEAD!! YOU'll THANK ME!! Went here to send something via DHL. TOTAL NIGHTMARE. The woman had 0 idea what she was doing, it took f-o-r-e-v-e-r. THEN, she decides not to tell me about how the billing worked, so when the package got to my friend in another country, it was 'duty and fees due', causing a HUGE DELAY because the person who helped me never explained what would happen when I sent my package. Now I am out over $120 to send something small to Europe (the money is no issue) but this took a MONTH!!! SO much for fast delivery. In summary: - you HAVE to make sure you get a clerk who KNOWS WHAT he/she is doing (my clerk had longish blond hair) - what ever you budget for how much time this will take in the store -- budget 2x the time - ASK A LOT of questions-- because if you don't ask things, they won't tell you and you end up with a 1 month delivery on a package that as supposed to get there in a week, and was a total mess up I will never go here again, they are not trained well, it costs an arm and a leg, and the people don't follow up in a timely way where there is a problem. These guys go above and beyond! My wife and I went into get a couple documents notarized - but also needed several others witnessed. And that's when the whole crew sprung into action. While the notary was finishing up her process, two other employees kindly signed off on the others, spending several minutes making sure that everything was ready to go. Was it an official UPS Store service? No. Was it something they even charged for? Nope. But that's the kind of awesome folks who work here. They get the job done no matter what. Just like Lauren posted in July, if I could give zero stars I would. Strangely enough, the staff was very nice and polite. The woman who identified herself as the owner was not nearly so. They charged me $10 for receiving / holding (less than 12 hrs) a package. Their reason for charge is that I don't pay a monthly fee for a box there. Interesting because the person who shipped and paid UPS on the other was not informed of any charge at shipment time. They called him this morning and told him I would have to pay $10 pick up fee and $10 per day storage for every day it sat there. This must happen every day and they prefer to collect (extort) the fees than fix the issue. They try and hide behind the statement, "we are not UPS, we are The UPS Store" BS if I ever heard it. I feel like they extorted the money from me.... Their manager offered to reduce the fee to $5 which I agreed to, but in retrospect, her ability to offer this to me in front of the owners suggests she has been granted permission to do this. Why else would you have that permission in place if it didn't happen on a regular basis? Short version, I you care about your customers don't ship UPS and especially don't patronize The UPS store on Castro St in Mountain View. read more

This place has EXCELLENT service. I came here to get a LiveScan Fingerprint for a background check. They were very painstaking about it. When my fingerprints didn't go through, the owner carefully redid it a few more times until it finally scanned. Contrast this to another place I went to, where they quickly took my prints and the scan didn't go through, so I had to get the entire thing redone. I went for a LiveScan (required for a charity I volunteer at). The woman who did my scan was rude and unfriendly, as she gestured to me the whole time, didnt speak a word! No, 'please come back here' put your hand this way' nothing! She just glared at me as she expected me to figure it out or she just pulled my hand. I actually thought she was dumb! Then she spoke rudely and said 'I have to do it'! I would have happily gone to another place if I knew how rude they would be. As a paying customer, I expect better. Wow, this place by far is the better UPS store in Mountain View. We drove over here after a terrible experience with one down the road. Here they're friendly and know what's going on. Parking can be a challenge during the day as you try to find a spot along Castro or park at a lot a few blocks away. They're pretty quick getting you taken care of. They also open on time for the hours the post verses the other locations where it's a roll of the dice when and who will show up. read more

This store is in a very convenient location in Mountain View and I visit here at least once or twice a week for various services. They've added a lot of staff this past year, so you get taken care of pretty quickly. I wish they would accept shipping with their competitors (Fedex, DHL, etc.) but I guess that's too much to expect for a UPS store. Parking can be a little bit of a hassle some times of day (esp. lunch) but in general I'm able to get in and out without much trouble. read more

Just a quick note to acknowledge the great service I received recently. The young lady who served me (didn't get a name) was incredibly helpful and efficient. Just needed to print a FedEx label off and she took my thumb drive and got everything done and dusted really quickly. Advised me how to use the label and only charged me for the printing. I have a mail box there. The service is pretty good. Every time when I get a large package, they will email me. The employees there are very nice and friendly. Sometimes it can be hard to find parking unless you are willing to walk further away. I don't mind walking so it's not a big problem for me. Customer service is fairly good, however they charge $1.00 for taping boxes. This means they will charge you $1.00 for a piece of tape that's 1". So if you don't want that extra charge, bring your packages already taped and sealed. read more

This place has UPS in the name, but it is NOT UPS. It is a franchise, a chain, that UPS happens to own. This was yelled at me by an entitled, frustrated employee. Apparently if you need to bill a shipment using a UPS account number, don't come here. It's a family business, and the service could be more professional. In fact this place is really a packing store. It used to be Mailboxes Etc and that's still what it is. They don't make money on shipping charges. And the packing and box rates are very very high. They tried to sell me a padded laptop box, just the box, for $25. Bring your own box, pack it and use your own tape at home, then come here. It's reasonably convenient. read more

This UPS Store is fantastic, largely because of the employees who work here. I've been renting a short-term mailbox here and the employees have always been extremely helpful to me, especially when I've been unable to lift or carry large packages...they are always quick to offer to help me bring packages out to my car and have done so on several occasions. The COVID safety measures taken at this store are also much appreciated as someone with a compromised immune system...employees are really great about enforcing restrictions on number of customers in the store and social distancing between customers. This does not impact customer service or speed of service - I've always been able to get in and out in less than 10 minutes. I've also used printing, scanning and notary services at this location - all have been easy, well-priced, and quick. I've seen some reviews complaining about parking at this location but I personally have never had any issues - it's easy to circle the block once...usually a spot opens up by the time you come back around. There is plenty of free street parking available, might just take a couple of minutes to find a spot. read more

Agree with all the comments on being over priced. I took 2 print outs and paid $5.11 and when I wanted to use their finger print ink for one finger print, the owner shouted to the assistant (something I could not follow) and he told me its a charge of $3. Don't mind paying $8.11 as I really need the documents but just does not ring a bell with a sign on the door which says "Proud to be a Part of the community". Maybe without that sign, they would not have put me off so much. I went in expecting a friendly environment but its total commercial place. read more

I have recently dropped off pre-labeled packages for UPS delivery that have taken 3 and even 4 days before the store gets the package onto a UPS truck. Inexcusably slow. Very friendly and helpful. I called Kinko's about a 11"x17" flatbed scan and the guy who answered said they didn't have flatbeds, the artwork would have to go through a document feed. I called this place and they said it was no problem. The lady helped me scan it and put it on my usb drive very quickly and cheaply. Even if the Kinko's guy was wrong, I will now use this UPS Store whenever possible since the experience was so much better than Kinko's in every way. It is a small place, so I imagine there could be some services they don't have, so call ahead for anything nonstandard. read more

I have been to this store about 15 times since 2009. Today I was very pissed off. I always carried tape with me when I ship anything, no matter I go to UPS or USPS. But today I forgot to put my tape on my car. I bought a box in this store and did a shipment. I was told though they did provide "courtesy" taping service but since I purchased a box and the box is "big", I have to buy a roll of their overpriced tape to seal my box. My box is 17x9x9, which means it will cost them about at most 1.5 feet long tape to seal it off. I tried to say I was a very loyal and good customer who has brought good business to them since 2009. NO, the korean girl said, if I don't want to buy the overprice tape, I need to pay $1 extra for taping. She also mentioned she cannot remember me and cannot recall if I am a customer to them. That's fine. But I don't understand why there is not courtesy to seal my box... $1 is not big amount, but I realize this is not a customer friendly store. I believe lots of you will have similar experience. Others want to rip you off in a small amount. They just think the amount is so small that you won't hold any grudge. But this time I do. They took $1 from me and thanks to you, I won't bring my business to you any more. read more

I've been going into this place for years mailing packages. I try to support local business when I can since I've lived in Mountain View most of my life. I have spent quite literally thousands of dollars in this store and they know me there. I mail a lot of stuff back home to my folks. I Usually I pay their exorbitant packing prices, but today I went in their with a box that I packed myself since I happened to have one the perfect size. Why throw it away I figure. Recycling is a good thing, right? The young asian lady in the store proceeds to give me the third degree about whats in their and how its packed. I am no stranger to packing. And when I told her that I had something in their that was breakable but I felt like I packed it suitable she responds with (imagine a sour face and negative tone) "Well if its not packed right - and I don't think it is - and something breaks and you file a claim UPS is going to want to inspect the packing job before they pay!" Wow. Really? You have to insult me? "And I don't think it is" without even inspecting it? Wow.. well they've just lost a (once regular) customer permanently. Here's a clue: If you have a regular customer come into your store and, for once, tries to be a little green and reuse a box rather than pay your outlandish packing fees don't insult that customer. Its a great way to have them not come back. And for them to tell everyone else about it too. read more

I needed a document notarized quickly on a Friday afternoon and someone suggested the UPS store. The people there were friendly and courteous. They notarized, double checked the documents, and I was on my way. The charge is reasonable at $10 too. I also noticed there were other customers who needed items shipped to Japan and other places.
