Buyer beware of Lenovo laptop warranty validation. On November 27, 2020, I purchased a Lenovo laptop from Office Depot. The laptop is great and I have had no issues with it. Problems started when I attempted to register the laptop with Lenovo so it could be covered under their 1 year warranty policy. When I attempted to complete the registration online, the system responded with a message that it was out of date. I found the validation date was May 2020, (I suppose when Office Depot purchased it from Lenovo) and I could not receive the benefit of a full 12 months. With a purchase date of May 2020, that shortened my coverage 5 months. I had to file a ticket with Lenovo and wait almost 10 days to contest the original purchase date. They required me to submit documentation of purchase. Another 5 days of waiting and they finally changed the purchase date to Nov. 27, so I could have 12 months on my warranty. I have never had this issue with warranty validation until now.
