Just wanted to give a shout out to the folks working behind the desk at this UPS location. I've come here several times, mostly to drop stuff off, but this time to ship stuff home after graduation. They are always friendly and pleasant, and I never had to wait in line very long. Don't quote me on this, but I actually think that when you are shipping larger boxes, UPS is slightly cheaper than USPS... Or they at least treat your boxes better... One time I used USPS ground, and the box arrived with a huge gash in it. I'd like to believe that UPS would have handled it better... read more

This store is under new management. Polite, but TERRIBLE customer service. I called first. But nobody answered. So I figured they were busy. I drove up just to see not a single customer. I needed a notary. No notary on Saturdays I ask Why didn't you answer the phone? He says, "I guess the phones not working" Truly unbelievable!! read more

This review isn't so much for this store itself, or the staff, but UPS in general, as far as the pricing structure for boxes. The owner/manager of this location is very polite and helpful. As far as shipping goes, the service is good and their pricing is very equitable. However, the reason I went here was to purchase some shipping supplies, tape, bubble wrap, and in particular a shipping box. I needed a box approximately 24-25" L x 26" W x 18" tall. The price for this box? $26.00. When I questioned this, the manager said, that, yea, UPS prices for boxes were very high. I purchased the other items, but I bought the same box at a U-Haul store for $7.95. Why does UPS have their stores price-gouging people on the price of cardboard boxes? I have no idea. I had a package delivered by UPS that was ripped open & the contents stolen. I tried to file a claim online, but my online claim was denied WITHOUT EXPLANATION. I tried to call UPS main customer service by phone, but was referred to online claims. I attempted to get through the voicemail system to reach a person, but that humble request was also denied, & my call was disconnected. I tried to call the nearest UPS store (on Mass Ave between Harvard & Central Squares). Again, I was referred to online claims, I couldn't reach a person, & (AGAIN!) my phone call was disconnected. I will NEVER EVER EVER use UPS willingly ever again!!! read more

The customer service has completely deteriorated! This used to be the friendliest ups store I had ever gone to which is what made me choose this location over the other one in Cambridge. The previous owner was wonderful, he knew everyone's name and corresponding box number. He would hand me my mail upon entering without having to say anything. He was so pleasant and seemed to love being there. Unfortunately, some woman bought the place a few years ago and she is so cold, unapproachable, certainly doesn't know the names and box numbers by face and she clearly has no passion for what she is doing. The location is already difficult to access by car seeing as how there is no parking, now that the service is non existent there is no reason to do business here. Please go elsewhere when looking for your ups needs because you will be disjointed by the service especially if you have any interactions with the rude socially inept owner!​ read more

I needed to return something today at 9am and it completely threw my day off when I got there and it was closed. Whoever was supposed to open didn't show up. I've also been here a few times in the past and they get the job done but one guy I spoke to didn't even give eye contact while he assisted me. I couldn't even tell if he was talking to me it was kinda rude and just confusing. read more

I went to the UPS store for a picture for my student application. The woman at the store was very patient and kind. She made sure my picture was neat and acording to the rules. I had gone to CVS and they did not take a clear picture and charged me more money. I would recomend this location for anyone who needs a application or passport picture. read more

Apparently this UPS store is under new ownership. It's a shame. I came here for years prior to today, and always appreciated the convenience and the service. Sadly, my visit today was so disappointing that I do not plan on returning. More than anything else it was the rudeness that rubbed me the wrong way. For example, pointing out every little thing I did "wrong," when I was doing things exactly the same as I been on previous visits to the store. It felt very condescending. read more

I'm changing my review to 0 stars based on the whiny, immature response from UPS on Mass Ave Cambridge. Everything I wrote is true, and their response just proves how bad their customer service is. APPARENTLY CUSTOMERS aren't allowed to express dissatisfaction. The two guys in the store (one was a manager) acted offended when I told them they were overcharging, and that they should carry UPS boxes. Those are legit gripes. Every Fedex store I've been to has Fedex boxes they do NOT charge for. Sorry guys, for telling it like it is, and if you can't deal with that maybe you shouldn't be in customer service. I dig the concept -- you take your stuff, they package it for you, and ship it off. I've gone there for years, and while I've always found them a bit too casual (i.e. they always say "yeah, sure we'll email you the tracking number), everything that I've mailed has always gotten where it's needed to go. The downside is that the last package I mailed there- which had my passport and a visa application in it- was lost. Of course, this wasn't the UPS store's fault, but UPS Headquarters required me to negotiate with the UPS store to get my money back and the Central Square UPS store wasn't exactly jumping up and down about paying me back for my losses. In fact, to date, UPS hasn't refunded me for my losses, and Jessie (the manager of the Central Sq. UPS Store) acts like he's done me a big favor by giving me what he's given me. Let me just say, UPS jumps up and down to mail your stuff for you. But when they lose your stuff, suddenly they are VERY hard to reach. And the UPS Store was the same way. Sometimes I felt like Jessie was hiding from me. He acted like *I* was freakish for being upset that my package was lost (and hey, I was angry. I was about six weeks away from a trip to India, and suddenly I had to reapply for a passport AND a visa), and not once did he ever say "Hey, I'm sorry." The whole thing just felt like really, really bad customer service. Now I just walk to Kinkos on Mifflin Pl. in Harvard Sq. The shipping is more expensive, but they haven't lost any of my stuff (yet). ______________ CODA: Here's the best part of my UPS Tale. About six months after I mailed my package, I got a phone call from the Indian visa office in NYC. Apparently, UPS had just delivered the package. SIX MONTHS LATER. The package had been opened, my passport was there and damaged, the money order was gone, and the official who called me said the envelope had track marks on it as though it had been run over. I went to this store to get some passport photos, and despite the simplicity of my request, I was generally very unimpressed with the place. First, the shop was littered with boxes, making it rather uninviting to even walk in. Second, the staff was painfully unfriendly. And lastly, TWO employees (not one, but two!) kept telling me that I cannot smile in passport photos. Now, I have had a number of passports in my day, and you can definitely smile in passport photos. After I insisted on taking the picture anyway (which required a great deal of insistence on my part - also contributing to the negative experience), the staff clearly didn't know how to take passport photos. The first two were way too zoomed in on my head, and were unacceptable. By the time I finally got acceptable prints, 30 minutes had passed. The whole thing should have taken 5 minutes! I hate being a stickler about things, but I believe if you are a shop that offers a service, at least train your employees to do that service. I'm sure passport photos aren't the bread and butter service for a store like the UPS Store, but still. A friendlier, more informed staff would have made up for their incompetence, but sadly, this UPS Store had neither. read more

Surprised to see several negative reviews for this location. However, this review is specifically for their printing services. I needed copies of a document made on cardstock. I placed the order online on Wednesday afternoon and within a few minutes of my order, an employee called me to verify details of my print job. They made sure that the correct document was printed double-sided before printing. I received an e-mail within an hour stating my prints were ready! I went to the store next day and handed the employee my ID. I realized I didn't have a folder to carry my prints in, but without asking, the employee gave me an envelope to take them home in! Only docking a point because one of my documents was supposed to be in color, but came out B&W. read more

WOW. I just had the most amazing experience ever that involved shipping something. I'm moving to Chicago, and brought my last 3 boxes to this store to ship directly to my new apartment. Jesse, the owner, weighed them and then advised me that due to the large dimensions they would be quite expensive. He asked if we could get the boxes down a couple of inches. Plenty of room in one to do so. The problem was that the other box contained my bike, and I had been unable to get the pedals off. Jesse went to the auto store next door, borrowed a wrench and got them off! It brought the cost of shipping my bike down $100!!! So I didn't have to abandon my bike or any other unwieldy possessions here in Boston due to the insane man power present in this store. Great guys :) read more

If only parking near here was a bit easier since Mass Ave is always a "fun" place to try and park at, this UPS store would be perfect. They are so nice and friendly and chatty here, and you can tell they aren't trying to rip you off ever price wise. When I was there they even checked out how much it would cost one customer to send her package versus the normal USPS price and she decided to just go to the post office instead and they didn't even seem to care one bit. So nice of them to make sure their customers are happy. They also honor AAA discounts here and even have a yelp check in offer for 15% off! That is nuts! More UPS stores should have that deal, but since they are the only ones that I know of in this general area that does the check in deal, I know this is the one store I will be sure to mail all of my stuff from! read more

Sorry for the delay in getting this attached to the right store! -------- I had a complicated shipping project today that involved a shipment to Afghanistan via DHL, which uses this UPS store as a dropoff location. Lynne at UPS worked with me in a friendly, professional manner and made the job a pleasure, when it could have been a really frustrating experience because of the paperwork required. It's clear to me that this is a well-run local business, worthy of support by the 02138 community. read more

Wow... My partner over-nighted me a package from Cambridge to Montreal, or tried. He sent it Thursday. It did not arrive Friday. According to UPS, it was not going to arrive until Monday at the earliest in spite of being at a facility IN Montreal, 10 miles I was going to be back in the US by Monday, so Monday delivery was moot, and they couldn't explain why they could not deliver it on Saturday. Where it gets convoluted is that my partner had to go back to the Central Square location to get it re-routed back to Boston, at which point they will return it to the Central Square location rather than delivered to a home address. Furthermore, they are refusing any refund for failure of service, and then want to charge a re-routing fee (which they won't even give a delivery estimate for). This is generally a bit of a WTF to me. The employees weren't helpful at all in explaining or offering any comfort, information, or recompense. They did not mention that their 1 day shipping is really more of a suggestion before purchase, either. read more

I just moved to Cambridge, and the moving-in process has meant that I have had the chance to visit this UPS Store more than a dozen times. The first few times I visited everything was fine, the staff was friendly (in one instance the employee behind the desk came over and went above and beyond what I'd asked her for help with) and the line moved pretty quickly. In the past few weeks, though, something has definitely gone awry...the same guy is there every day, and he clearly has never heard of customer service: I ran out of packaging tape mid-roll when sealing up an Amazon return, so the package I was dropping off wasn't completely sealed. I apologized for the half-taped up package and asked if he could help me out. The guy rebuked me as if I were a misbehaved child, spoke in a monotone voice so fast I could barely understand him and said that there was a $1 fee for using their tape. When I sheepishly took out a $1 bill he looked confused and said I didn't have to pay. It was very awkward: you just treated me like an idiot, so is there a $1 fee or not? I'd rather pay $1 than be treated like crap so make a decision! He never once even looked me in the eye. In fact, he's never once looked me in the eye in general and since he's there pretty much every time I've been there recently that's a lot of avoidance.   Besides the general lack of friendliness, I needed to ship a framed poster to my father so as the monotone man was measuring the frame a tall guy (who I  assumed was the packaging "expert") came out from the back and started looking at the poster. The problem? Even though he seemed remarkably jovial by contrast, he smelled so heavily of booze that I could smell it from across the counter. I asked to see the manager in a courteous way because I didn't want him to break the frame but I also didn't want there to be any issues, but he said he was the manager. He then proceeded to refer to the monotone man as the manager, which if true is pretty unfortunate for this place. Who is the real manager of this UPS store? Everyone! Unless I am dropping off an Amazon return I'm avoiding this place from now on because the energy is incredibly negative and drunk employees are not very reassuring if you have fragile stuff you need to ship. I don't know what happened at this place, it seemed pretty friendly when I was moving in but now I feel confident relating that if you use this place, you should be prepared to have your mood ruined by the omnipresent monotone maybe manager who will treat you like you are mentally handicapped or have your fragile stuff handled by an (admittedly much more friendly) embarrassingly inebriated guy who is also, maybe, the manager. Honestly, a UPS dropbox provides better customer service and certainty than I've gotten here in the last month. read more

My colleague put in an order to have some color prints made up (20 one sided prints), since we just moved into an new office and we don't have a printer yet. The order was put in at 9am. I went to check on it at 1pm. They couldn't find the order. I found an email with the confirmation. The guy tells me that their color printer wasn't working. No email or phone call to let us know. My colleague got about 5 confirmation emails though. What the hell UPS?! read more

I moved across the country and used this UPS store to ship my clothes and books to save some money from my moving company. Bad move. The pickup service was very timely, but that was the only positive portion of this experience. My boxes were brought to the store and left in the truck overnight, so I did not know the charge for shipping until the next day. When I asked for a receipt, I was told that the scanner was obstructed by my boxes and they would send it to me later. They did, but the time between me letting go of my boxes and having receipt of my shipment was 5 days. Not cool. Once my boxes got to my new home, they were a wreck. 8 of the 10 were split down the sides, probably put at the bottom of large stacks that they couldn't support. I lost countless articles of clothing from falling out the side, and many books were scuffed or damaged. In summary: horrible customer service, horrible treatment of my things. read more

These guys were super helpful. I had some important documents to mail and also needed a return label. They suggested that I get it delivered to the store and they'd give me a call when it came in. No waiting or nothing to sign. I didn't even know UPS did that. A different one I went to tried to get me to purchase express service when it wasn't necessary. Saying something how UPS wouldn't deliver regular ground to my door but this store at least gave me an alternative. When my documents arrived they called me right away and had them right behind the counter when I came to pick them up. With such convenient service I might use them more often. read more

If you are not ready/equipped to offer printing services, stick to shipping. All over the web and your storefront there are posters and ads about how great you guys are at printing. I walked in the store on Monday and spoke to an associate for 5 minutes about a simple print job. I transferred a file over, told him the size, confirmed he received it, left my phone number, and confirmed my intention to pick it up Wednesday as it was only 10 small posters. I called today, Thursday, to check on the status. Whoever answered the phone had zero idea what they were talking about, didn't attempt to locate my job or the status, and then told me it was their busiest time of year for shipping boxes. They said they had a line of 6 people in the store. I said, I will call back later and hopefully you can give me more information. I call back. Guy says- "oh this is for the color posters? ya, the employee you spoke to is new, shouldn't have taken the request during this week, the file size and print size need to be reformatted, we are really busy, our printer is down" Also suggested to me that there are countless print shops in Boston- Really?? WHAT?? why didn't you call me once over the last 4 days to let me know that??? The employee is not new. I live across the street and come to your location all the time and the guy has been there at least a year. Get your s**T together. If you offer business services, your customers need to rely on you to get simple things done on time. read more

I don't know how they managed to lose my package in their store but they did. I sent a package to my daughter in New York before I caught my return flight home to San Francisco. I realized when I was on the plane that I did not have a tracking number for the package. I did have my receipt for paying for the box, the packing material, and the cost for sending the package. I also had a copy of the form I filled out with my daughter's address and what was in the package but no tracking number. I called the store when I got home. They could not find the package but they did remember me coming in. I scanned and sent them copies of all my paper work. They said they would look into it and get back to me. That was September of 2017. I have never heard from them again. read more

If I could give less than five stars then I would. Do not go here for anything involving printing, and arguably shipping based on what we witnessed. There was a very long line today and that is fine, but the attitudes of the staff particularly the young man were awful. He kept groaning and saying things like "Ug this is so annoying" about the system being down or things not working. When we finally got to him, my partner asked for card stock for the printer. There are not instructions on how to change paper in the printer or the process for this. the employee responded in an annoyed tone "We don't do that here." My partner then had to respond "I have printed here twice before and there has been card stock. I had to come up and ask for it to be put into the printer." The young man then did what we witnessed him do throughout our twenty minutes in line, ask his co-worker in an exasperated tone "Can you deal with this?". She had a slightly better attitude, but also was annoyed at my partner saying "You need to pull it up on the computer first." The issue here is that the process has been different the two other times my partner went. He has been told he needs to ask for the card stock first. He's been told he needs to pay first. Then he had been told he should pay after. We finally got our prints, but this store is NOT a print and copy store. The young man may be new, but then he should have just said "I'm sorry I am actually new. Let me ask someone." He didn't even need to say the sorry part, just not a flat out no in a rude way would suffice. Basically, just same basic respect. It was also really wonderful to witness this young man completely change his tone and display a "get to it" attitude when a young white woman was at the printer for a minute or two looking confused. So, be a slim young white woman and you might be treated with some respect if you need to print. Never again. My partner will now make sure to get his prints in ahead of time at Flash Print in Cambridge where they treat their customers with respect, and actually know how to use their printers. They had a QR code up near the printers to take a customer survey. I wanted to leave my review that way with them, but that was broken. read more
