I ordered a whiskey gift set for my husband for Christmas, which was dropped at the store as it required a signature. It was, in all likelihood, taken with outgoing parcels as it disappeared. I was advised what to do, and I called the vendor to ask for a tracer on the package. The customer service at the vendor was abysmal, and they never traced the package. The package resurfaced three weeks later and the owner of the store, remembering our conversation, delivered it to me herself. They have my business for life. read more

I called this store after reading negative reviews about the Cambridge store manager. I figured this would be a better experience; after all, it's Arlington, right? "Hi," I responded, and proceeded to explain that I wanted to bring in my package to be weighed and cost-priced for shipping so I could get the cost information to the payee before shipping. On top of a training on customer service they will also benefit from basic training on how to handle calls and use mute mode when appropriate (We dont need to hear their gossips while being told we need to wait 20min on the phone). read more

I came here for notary services - after trying numerous other places in Cambridge/Somerville including banks, a local income tax plus, and other UPS stores which all either did not have notary services or did not do same-day drop-in notary services despite what their websites said or what I was told over the phone. In comparison, the UPS store in Arlington was amazing. I called ahead, they confirmed notary services were available til 5pm. When I walked in, Laurie was running through her line of clients' needs efficiently like a pro and she got me the urgent notarizations I needed in less than 5 minutes. She was also very personable and kind while doing so. The world needs more people like Laurie. read more

As a Black woman who has had many, many terrible customer experiences, this is top 3. I scheduled to get an I-9 notarized. I went in the day before my appointment to make sure they could do it. This woman said yes and brushed me off. Said it was $10... okay... I just hoped she wasn't going to be the one doing it. lol and behold. She was. No one always at the desk or greeted me. She eventually approached in a terrible mood. She did not know what she was doing and wouldn't allow me to assist her. There are 2 parts, the form and the photocopy of the documents notarized. She didn't/wouldn't do that. She took my $10 and didn't give me a receipt. I saw red. I left knowing that I was going to come back and raise hell when I calmed down and would be contacting corporate in the meantime. Don't go there. Don't do it to yourself. read more

I've seen them working with a complex situation (shipping tobacco to another country!) stop to look at the number of people waiting and somehow quickly tend to the simpler cases while still helping the complex case. I paid for 2-day air- Dropped it off at 4:30pm She was moving so fast I could barely understand what she was saying- but my receipt was correct. Hours later, after the shop closed, a ticket was incorrectly created- then it was checked into RI the next day.... now I see the package is taking 6 DAYS and touring the East Coast states (5 states so far). It will arrive after the destination folks have left. Glad it wasn't a contract, but this is not even poor, this is crappy. They should not charge a higher rate for 2-day air if it's going to take a full week- Or at this rate the "whenever" time frame. I should have used usps. read more

I walked into the UPS store to print one a one page document since I do not have a printer at home. I figured this to be a pretty easy transaction that would take all of 2 minutes. The employee working was very unfriendly and informed me I would need to utilize their computer for my print job. I sat down at the computer and was unsure of what she wanted me to do. Do I log into an account, etc? I noticed a sign that said $2 minimum and $.50/minute. I re-engaged with the employee again confirming I had one single page to print and asking if I would be charged the amounts listed. She confirmed and told me to "go fast". Needless to say I was not going to put up with this level of service and decided to just leave. Concerning that they could not be more accommodating to help print a 1 page document. Kristopher is the most impressive ups worker I think I've ever seen. I went in there to mail a package and he noticed there was some empty space in the box. I had a great experience (several month ago) at this location when I had to return my Dyson cleaner for repair. Laurie was tremendous and attentive to my concerns about boxing the cleaner. I literally just left it with Laurie and she took care of all the packaging, etc. with no drama. I highly recommend using this location as your "go-to" store as the Belmont location was not user friendly. In fact, we are going back today to Arlington to ship a desk top. Laurie is absolutely amazing. I had the unnerving responsibility of shipping a large and valuable oil painting with a fragile molded plaster frame across country. Not only was the packing job challenging, I had to insure the piece for $40,000! I had never dealt with anything like this before, and I was extremely nervous. Laurie took on the task with extreme professionalism. She did and amazing job of packaging the piece, and talked me through the best options for transit and insurance. Horrible customer service, I went in this location to get an estimate on a business printing job. There were two employees in the store at the time. One was working with a customer, and the other was sitting in a chair behind the desk, leaning back and reading. He didn't even look up when he finally muttered "Help ya?" With this warm. professional greeting I decided to just read some of the business services brochures that were on display before getting into specifics with this eager representative. I told him I wanted to look at the literature for a few minutes and then began looking over the information. After two or three minutes of minding my own business I heard the same rep bellow "Can I help you sir?" in a loud, clearly annoyed, voice. He was still on his perch behind the counter, with no new customers in the store, and no reason to make such a rude display. In any case it was obvious this guy had better things to do than wait for a customer to finish a store visit, and could care less if I placed an order or not. Since the other worker was still busy I decided to just leave the store and go somewhere else the next day. His disinterested demeanor and rude way of speaking made the whole visit to the UPS Store a bad experience. I cannot recommend this business to anyone, for any reason. i called on a monday and spoke with laurie and explained i am disabled and would like to ship frozen food to pittsfield, mass. to my niece, who is between jobs. she said " for an extra $ 25 she could pick it up . otherwise, it would have to overnight air of upwards of $ 75". i later called on friday , when i decided i was going to deliver the package, on my rotator ( walker with wheels, on the bus) and if they would still do a delivery on saurday ? she said yes, they just do not do overnight service on sundays". she made no mention - that it is " extra " deluvery on saturdays. i took the bus , and when i did the transaction, the total was not - $75. - it was $167 !! i was too embarrased, ( i suffer from generalized anxiety disorder as well as physical) so i said to myself " well too late now" and put it on my credit card. i am on a fixed income - and had i known - ahead of time - it was going to $100 more - for been saturday ,i would have come back on a weekday. i " heard" this is a family run business and find this " is no way of doing business" - taking advantage of disabled people. i recommended anybody, to go " the extra mile" to another ups store, especially if you have reliable transportation. read more

Jason walked me through what I needed and gave me an estimate over the phone. DO NOT give this store any business. They work with UPS proper to scam you with hidden fees and paltry excuses. Recently, UPS left a note on my door that I had a package to be delivered. However, I would have to be present to SIGN and RECEIVE the package for them to complete delivery. Well, like most upstanding Americans, I work 9-5, exactly concurrent with UPS delivery hours. I was not available to receive the package personally. So I call up UPS customer service. The UPS operator offers to move the package from the Chelmsford delivery center to the closest UPS establishment in my area. DUN Dun dun. The UPS Store in Arlington. I find this option amenable. Much closer than Chelmsford.So I agree. Two days later, I stroll into the Arlington UPS store. The sales clerk, looking every bit the high school dropout, won't give me my package until I agree to pay the $5 delivery fee. -insert shocked expression- Delivery to where? It's sitting in the store. Are they holding my package hostage? This is extortion. Must I pay ransom for it? After 10 minutes of attempting to reason with the clerk, I finally pay the ransom. THEY NEVER ASK ME TO SIGN FOR THE PACKAGE, after all this. My only recourse is yelp. Do NOT give this store business. Take that you package pirates! read more

I cannot thank store owner Laurie Poland enough: she helped me to navigate the extremely complex process of shipping 5 small gifts to Morocco -- a task that seemed excruciatingly complicated, when I tried to do it myself on the DHL website. I telephoned the store and spoke with Laurie around 9am, and she told me that they could pack my items in a small shipping box, at no extra charge. When I arrived at the store, which is right on the corner of the busiest intersection in Arlington Heights MA, sirens were going off, car horns were honking, and people and shipments were breezing in and out of the store with frightening speed and intensity! Laurie is the embodiment of multi-tasking: frankly, I don't know how anyone could survive working at that pace, let alone thrive at it -- but, even though we were frequently interrupted, she gave me full attention and made sure the complicated forms were filled out accurately and completely, and she easily helped navigate the labyrinth of customs declaration. I don't think I'll be shipping items abroad very often, as the cost of the shipping usually exceeds the cost of goods -- but, when I next need assistance, I won't hesitate to come to this store and ask for Laurie Poland -- she was consistently cheerful and upbeat, in every sense a strong, independent, and friendly business woman.
